"Impressive Kamui. I guess this is what happens when you've been around for practically forever." Saro joked. "Then again, well, we know you love food, so it's no surprise that you can cook. Can't wait to try it." Saro laughed, before turning back to his own recipe. With the slab of deer meat spread out before him, Saro crushed his garlic clove with the flat edge of a knife, and spread the juices and fragments of garlic over the meat. "I hope Ailonwy's dad doesn't bring a vampire home." Saro laughed.
"Oh, nothing really." Garu began. Too submissive "Erm, what I mean is, well, I can't really help cook anymore, no opposable thumbs. Heh..." Okay... maybe not my best choice of words... "I guess maybe... d'you wanna talk?" Smooth. You can't even talk to a female when you're a dog Garu.

ooc;; WHY DO I ALWAYS FORGET TO REPLY TO QUESTIONS IN OOC?! Okay, NOW I'll explain the stove. This time I mean it! bic;; "Oh!" Ailonwy gasped, setting Yibbles down gently and hurrying back into the kitchen. "I forgot to show you how our stove works. My father and I designed it ourselves." She whipped her hair from her face and came to stand before the stove, which was positioned between the counters. It was basically a box of bricks with a thick iron door and a chimney leading into the ceiling above. She opened it by grasping a handle and pulling the door down. "It has ember crystals in it," she explained. "They are gems that have elemental magical potential, if used correctly. Just pull this lever down if you want to start the fire. The further down you pull it, the hotter and larger the fire will be. Push it back up to quench the flames." She demonstrated by pulling the lever on the right side down halfway, causing a mediocre fire to burst into life, and then shoving it back up, causing the fire to seemingly vanish in a puff of smoke. She smiled reassuringly. "There should be enough wood to last you until I get back. But, if there isn't, there is a shed in the backyard with some firewood, though I'd hate for you to have to go get it. If you wish, just wait for me to return and I'll go out and get it. I am so grateful to you both. Thank you very much!" Her smile quivered with happiness, as if she was holding in something. Then she relieved the urge by acting upon it, wrapping her arms around Saro's neck. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" she exclaimed. "My father will be so pleased!"

"Eh, not forever, man, just two an a half centuries. I'm still a young adult for my race." He said casually as he took up the mallet. "But likewise with your recipe, Saro. I rather like garlic, so don't skimp on it, 'kay?" "Thanks. I don't mind if ya' take Yibbles, he's glad of the attention, especially when it comes from pretty girls." He said to Ailonwy, as he began tenderizing the meat, but paused for a moment to curiously look over his shoulder as she explained how the oven worked. "Genius. You guys should patent that." He gave a small smile when Ailonwy hugged Saro, giving him a quick wink before turning back to his meat. Taking up the knife again, he went to work on it with the precision of a surgeon, slicing it paper thin. "We should be thankin' you, Ai, invitin' us inta' your home an' providin' access ta' your wonderful kitchen."
Sakurako stared at Garu for moment as he babbled. "Fine." Her tone was indifferent and she said no more, apparently waiting to Garu to supply the topic. She sat and waited, looking serene and regal with her purely white coat and a cool air about her, completely composed as always. (We've actually had "ovens" dating back to the Harappan civilization, around 3000BC. Granted, they were extremely crude, going back to simple pits dug out in the floor and filled with heated materials. We actually still use the type of ovens they had back in post-medieval times, more specifically the masonry ovens, better known today as the brick ovens everybody associates with pizza. Back in the day, they were used for any kind of baking, not just pizza. They also used dutch ovens back in the day, too, but I'm not sure if that was for baking so much as stews an' the like... Or whatever it is you can do with dutch ovens. Anywho, lot of native/tribal cultures still use simple cooking pits today, too, but I digress... You're not the only one to forget, Kipp. I meant to say all this in my last post. Anyways, all this babbling of mine is moot for the time being, as we're among Elves, where magic and intelligence abounds. I like the way Ailonwy's oven works.)

ooc;; Yes, I knew the part about the ovens being mostly brick in our present time. I didn't know all the details that you apparently do, though. ^.^ Thanks for supplying and complimenting Ailonwy's stove. =D ...Hopefully no one takes that into dirty context. Anyway! I'll wait for Valter's post, since he hasn't had a chance to be like, "WTF WHY ARE YOU HUGGING ME AILONWY?" yet. XDDDD

"Ah!" was all Saro could manage before he found himself being smothered in a tight hug from Ailonwy. "Heh, you're welcome, I guess. What'd I do again?" Saro asked in a lighthearted and jocular tone, giving Ailonwy a few light pats on the back. "Don't hug me quite yet, I haven't shown you any archery yet." Saro added with a slight laugh, getting slightly embarassed. Kamui was in the room, after all.
"So... what's it like being a canine all your life?" Garu asked, turning a clumsy circle and sitting down. "I can't get the hang of it myself. With four paws, I've literally got two left feet." Garu said, taking a stab at a joke. "I guess I like having the tail though." Garu said, giving his an upward flick. "I don't know how I managed to balance without one before."

"Well, I can't wait to see your skills in archery, Saro," Ailonwy said, grinning and stepping back from the embrace. "Nor can I wait till I see my father's face light up when he eats your food!" She skipped joyfully into the room where she had left Yibbles and scooped him up again. She then walked into the hallway, snatching a large wicker basket off of a hook and looping it over her free arm. "I shall be back in a few moments!" she called, stepping out the door and closing it behind her.

"Heh...," Still looking toward the meat he was slicing, Kamui gave a half grin as Ailonwy hugged Saro. "Good thing Feiniel wasn't here, or else he'd prob'ly be drawin' up weddin' plans by now, eh, Saro?" He called over his shoulder in a good-natured jest.
"I've no basis for comparison." Sakurako taciturnly answered Garu's question, apparently completely indifferent to his joke. She did not like nor dislike him, she was just quite reticent, preferring to converse with Kamui, Yibbles, or not at all, unless it was strictly necessary. This was the most she had talked to anyone but her companions in a long while. Looking away from Garu for a moment to watch Ailonwy pick up Yibbles and leave, she looked back to Garu, silently waiting to see if Garu had anything else to say. She hoped he didn't, or at the least did not ask a question.
