"Feiniel? Charmed to meet you, Sarobando Reyano Turan at your service." Saro said, with a playful grin. He'd been expecting Ailonwy's father to be more of a stern, fussy man, given the hard work Ailonwy had put into the house, so Saro found this to be a pleasant surprise. It was quite clear that there was a lot of love between the two.
"So, Feiniel, huh? Man, where do you elves come up with such great names?" asked Saro with a grin. "This is Garu by the way. My brother." Saro said, indicating the wolf sized-dog with an amiable pat on the head. "And as for Ailonwy... well, she is truly beautiful, heart and soul, but, well, I'm no elf, so it couldn't work out between us." Saro admitted. Garu shot Saro a look of surprise at this. Wow... that's more mature than I thought he'd ever be... What's gotten into him?
"Anyway, that being said, I really think she needs more room to grow. To go on an adventure perhaps, even something like travelling with your merchant caravan. There are too many men here who think they can give her the world, but honestly, I think Ailonwy wants to make her own world." Saro said. And yet, still tactless... Garu silently commented, letting his ears flop.
"So, Kamui." Saro said, rapidly changing the target of his chatter. "Ready to get cooking? Come on, I'll get your shoes." he added, bending down to pick up the raggy black boots. "Oof!" Saro grunted as he lifted up the boots, throwing an incredulous glance at Kamui. "What do you keep in here? Rocks?"

Feiniel seemed a little put out by Saro's response. "Yes, she is beautiful," he agreed. "But she's not getting any younger..." His eyes, much like a predator's when seeking prey, slid from Saro to Kamui. But, before he could start arranging marriages, Ailonwy was back. She had learned never to leave her father alone with young men (or men who appeared young, in Kamui's case) for long. He feigned innocence, taking his eyes off of Kamui and pretending to be admiring her job on the garden.
"Father, I think you should get back to your merchanting," she said, as if she knew what he had been doing.
"I was just admiring the garden, which you so nicely spruced up," he said, grinning. "She'll make a great wife one day," he directed at Kamui with a nod. Ailonwy hurriedly kissed her father on the cheek and rushed Yibbles, Sakurako, Garu, Saro, and Kamui into the house further.
"Farewell, Father," she said, smiling as she shut the door. She pressed her back against it, as if barricading him out. "Sorry about that. Anyway, time to cook!" She squeezed past her friends in the mediocre-sized hallway and started for the kitchen.

"Feiniel, huh? Nice name. As for your daughter? She's pretty, an' no doubt she'd make a great wife, but I ain't ready ta' settle down just yet. Sorry, man... heh..." He gave a small nervous chuckle and a half grin as he met his eyes. "No, not rocks, Saru, I-- huh?" He found himself being ushered into the house by Ailonwy and just went with it. "Oh! Ya' can call me Sy or Kamui, whichever floats your boat, man," He called to Feiniel before the door was shut entirely. "Eh, no problem. Not the first time a father has tried to proposition their daughter for marriage. He was definitely one of the more tactful ones, I'll say that...," He said rather bluntly, following Ailonwy into the kitchen, Sakurako and Yibbles following him. "Say... have any of you ever had sukiyaki?"

Ailonwy let out a laugh that was more like a song. "Yes, tactful," she said. "He sometimes forgets that his bargaining techniques won't work in finding me a husband." She rolled her eyes. "Suki... yaki? No, I don't believe I have. What is it made of?" She was leading them into the kitchen. "I love learning of food from other origins, but I can't really say I've done a good job of it." She opened up a closet once she was in the kitchen. It turned out to be a food pantry. She pulled out two aprons and laid them on the table. "I'll be washing up before I go to the festival, anyway, but you might want to wear these." One was obviously Ailonwy's, being decorated with pink, brown, and blue swirls. The other was plain white, her dad's. She went back into the pantry and started digging around for the supplies, waiting for Kamui's response. If he knew how to make it, then perhaps they could make some. Her father liked trying her new inventions. If he was brave enough for that, then he would definitely not mind trying foreign food.

"Heh, among the Elves, at least. Among the higher ranking humans, marriage is little more the a grounds for social, business, or political deals. Often, only the lower classes are free to chose for themselves...," He stopped as he tied on the pink, brown, and blue swirled apron, "Well, anywho, sukiyaki! It's a naremono dish, a... how would ya' say it in Common... a steamboat dish, usually eaten communally, similar to fondue. Ya' need some kinda fish or meat, which we've got plenty of. Um, shirataki noodles, though I don't suppose ya' have those... regular noodles will suffice, I suppose. Ah, yes, ya' also need mushrooms, scallions, cabbage, soy sauce, sake or mirin, sugar, water, and eggs.Tofu, too, if ya've got any of that, though it's not necessary. You'll also need a skillet that ya' won't mind takin' out of the house if we're ta' bring it ta' your father an' his friends at the festival, as it's cooked right before it's eaten. If ya've got any rice, seaweed, an' pickled plums or salted salmon, then I can show ya' how ta' make onigiri..."

Ailonwy was gawking. He looked around eighteen and yet he was speaking of foreign foods as if he was a professional chef. It was also odd that he had chose her apron, even when he had first pick. She realized her jaw hanging and politely closed her mouth and straightened out the incredulous expression on her face. What a strange individual, she thought silently. Nevertheless, she was excited that he seemed to be a walking cook book of new foods.
"Oh, no, we won't be taking it to them," she corrected. "He and his friends will be coming here after the festival. He gives a couple of the outsiders a place to stay before they move on to the next city. Speaking of which... Do you two need a place to stay? The two inns here are... well... One charges too much and the other is disgusting." She was digging around in the food pantry, trying to memorize all the ingredients Kamui had given her.

"Whew, that was awkward." Saro muttered, glancing back at the shut door. Garu gave a small whine in reply; the rapid slamming of the door had shaved a few hairs off his tail. The pair chose not to directly follow Kamui and Ailonwy into the kitchen opting to spend some of their time looking around the hallway, admiring the various knick-knacks arranged on the walls, no doubt object obtained from Feinel's merchanting business.
However, Saro did step through the door of the kitchen once Ailonwy had asked if they needed a place to stay. "Garu and I usually just pitch a tent, but that'd look kind of silly next to a big cozy house like yours, so, if you're offering, I guess we'll take it." Saro said with a grin. "Anyways, is there another apron? I've got to show you guys my Twin River deer recipe; you'll love it."

"Really?" Ailonwy exclaimed. She didn't care that she was getting excited over a meal in front of them. Two men who each had their own little recipes. Her father would be overjoyed. She picked up the white apron, offering it to Saro eagerly. "This shall be the best feast my father and his friends have ever had! I shall bake the cake. You can make your Twin River deer, Saro, and you, Sy, can make your sukiyaki! Any recipes we don't have, I'll fetch, since my part of the meal happens to be the last to eat. I'll make a salad as well, and perhaps some soup..." She was digging around in the pantry frantically. "Mushrooms, noodles, sugar...," she muttered aloud as she collected ingredients for the sukiyaki in her arms.

"Eh, sure," Kamui shrugged, "It's not like I have money for the inn anyways, heh! Thank you, I accept your kind offer, Ailonwy." He walked over to a wash basin and filled it water from the pitcher next to it. There was a small smile on his face as he rinsed his hands. 'I smell an enchantment... heh, yeah, the water level in the pitcher is the same as before I filled the basin. I bet the water'd flow indefinitely if tipped it over.' "Okay, sukiyaki! Ya' can just put the stuff on the counter," He pulled a knife from the knife block, "Do ya' have two a cuttin' boards an' two platters, Ai? Ya' don't mind if I call ya' that, do I? 'Ai', a Hagakarinese name, it means 'love'. Coincidently, Hagakarin is the country from which sukiyaki comes from."

Ailonwy let out a laugh as she organized the contents on the counter. "Yes, but don't call me that around my father," she responded. "He knows Hagakarinese and I'm sure he'll get the wrong idea if you call me something that can be translated as "love". You've seen how he is." She grinned. "Saro, dig through the pantry and find your ingredients, since I don't know what they are." Ailonwy dug around in a cupboard and produced two cutting boards and, from another, two platters, for Kamui. She hopped up, ignoring etiquette, and sat down on the counter, her legs swinging below, as she began going over Kamui's ingredients in mutterings. "Hmmm... It appears I'll need to go fetch a fresh cabbage." She slid off of the counter. "Do you require anything for your recipe, Saro?"

(Psst. Kipp, Kamui did ask her for something. Anywho, where's Valter? I've mostly been waiting for him to post, but...)

ooc;; Fixed it. And no idea... Perhaps school's been keeping Valter busy?

Ooc: Yep, school, the play, memorizing about 70+ chemical compounds, 8 clubs, writing an all spanish letter to Esteban Julio Ricardo Montoya De La Rosa Ramirez, yeah... XD
Bic: "I think I've got all that I need here." Saro said, digging through the pantry and pulling out a clove of garlic, a few leaves, and a bottle of vinegar. He'd also procured a platter from the cupboard. "Lemme see... oh yeah, do you think you could get me a couple potatoes?" Saro asked, laying out his ingredients and retrieving a slab of deer meat. (Does Syrunn have ovens? I'd assume so, since Ailonwy's planning to bake a cake.)
Garu paced around in the kitchen, frustrated. His new form really prevented him from helping out in the kitchen, and he felt pretty useless at the moment. After a bit, he realized he was getting in the way, and padded out of the kitchen, intent on doing some exploring. His first discovery turned out to be Yibbles the piglet, who, as usual, was off in lala land. "Hey Yib, y'know where I can find Sak?" Garu asked.

"Thanks, Ai, no rush on the cabbage." He said dividing up his ingredients. He began to cut up the mushrooms, scallions, and tofu into bite-sized pieces. Whether from cooking experience, or through some other experiences, he deftly handled the knife, making precise and efficient cuts. He moved the vegetables and tofu from the cutting board, arranging them on one of the platters, leaving room for the cabbage. Then he took the entirety of one of his slabs of meat and plopped it onto the cutting board. "Got a meat mallet?" He asked Ailonwy, "Oh, and two bowls?" He felt a little rude to keep asking her for stuff, but he felt it would be ruder to dig through her kitchen for what he needed, him being a near stranger in another person's house.
Meanwhile, out of the kitchen, Yibbles stared blankly and uncomprehendingly up at Garu for a few moments. "Have I met you before?" The piglet asked the larger animal. "Never mind him, go and play, Yibbles." Sakurako appeared at the piglet's side. The piglet obliviously trotted off and the wolfdog turned her icy blue eyes toward Garu, "What do you want?"

ooc;; Since we're post medieval, we have ovens. According to my knowledge of stove history, they'd still be in their lower development, though. Here, I'll explain what Ailonwy's stove is like. =D
ic;; "Yes, of course," she replied to both Saro and Kamui. She reached into one cupboard and retrieved two bowls for Kamui before hurrying over next to the water basin where a meat mallet was sitting, freshly cleaned. She lied it down next to him and went toward the doorway. "Feel free to search about if you need anything else," she said, giving them a little wave. "Yibbles, would you like to come with me?" she asked, scooping the piglet into her arms and itching behind his ears. "Sy, would you mind?"
