ooc;; So there's really no set plot. Just a setting... A band of merchants is stopping in Balavan, as they have annually for a long time. They are going to take up the empty spaces in the marketplace and sell their goods. Everyone is excited that they will be able to refill their supplies of whatever it is they require, as the merchants often bring imported goods not available anywhere else in Eria. They have been dubbed a great many good things for the happiness they bring even to the small villages. They even hold the occasional archery competitions and give out goods as prizes.
bic;; Ailonwy was exuberant. The highlight of her summer was approaching. She normally disliked summers, as they were hot, the herbology students made things more crowded than usual, and her father was out with the merchants on business.
But tonight, he would be home. She hoped he would say he had made enough already and would remain home as he sometimes did when sales were especially good. She had polished the house spotless and tended to every little weed in the garden. Then she had bathed and put on a dark blue gown that flowed with her hair but contradicted her skin. It was long with a lighter blue, silk strip tied around the waist. It had bell-sleeves and a V-neck, so that she could bear her silver necklace with a tag of the same make. On the tag was a black and white symbol that showed she had completed one course at a magic academy. It was not Occasus, but she hoped that she might one day attend there.
Ailonwy took a silk tie much like the one around her waist and tied her long hair back. Only chin-long bangs fell free of it. Then she departed her house, singing joyously as she made her way to the main path.

Sage sat in a rough wood chair, she sold good meat and a few people new her well. She had fresh salted boar and pork out of marble stone for display as she waited for a customer. It was business very busies, she had sold 12 meat slabs already and made a good 58 gold coins and 3 silver and 67 bronze. She kept her money in a silk pouch, in her left boot. Her cloak was off and it lay folded beside her, you could see her hole face and body but for her lower half, for the stand covered that.
Blackish indigo hair fell pasted her shoulders as turquoises eyes blinked away dust from the street. She was not rich nor was she poor. Living on her own and hunting for a living made her strong.

Ailonwy finally came to the main path. A good deal of merchants were out already, but she found that the whole band had not yet arrived. She decided to buy some meat. She didn't like meat much herself, but she figured that she would hold a feast for her father and all of his merchant friends. She noticed Sage as she made her way down the wide street and walked over to her set-up. She eyed the boar meat skeptically at first, and then decided that it was perhaps the best meat she had ever seen without the merchant band being here.
"Hmm, how much would three slabs of that be?" she asked. She waited for Sage to look at her incredulously; everyone did when she asked for more than she looked like she could carry. Due to her slender figure, she was underestimated often.

Sage looked at her and smiled " Only as much as your willing to pay, For I never over charge, no matter the quality of my meat." Sage said smiling. Sage to had a slender but strong build. She then asked " What type you want? Boar or pork, but I guess I could also give you deer if you want, it is around back" She said, she has a good 5 pieces of Deer, 13 of boar, and 11 of pork.

"Oooh, I'm partial to deer," Ailonwy said. It was one of the few types of meat she liked. She'd get the boar for them and the deer for herself. "I'll take three slabs of boar and one of deer, if you will." She smiled kindly and decided to give her an extra amount of money. If Sage never overcharged, she probably didn't get much money from the poorer folk who needed meat. And Ailonwy had spare money due to her father being paid by the Queen, so she decided that she would pay the nice woman extra.

" Sure" She smiled, walking behind a old, rough cotton curtain she picked a good sized piece of meat from a wooden box. She brought it out front of a wooden slab. , placing it on the table she took 3 pieces of boar and placed it on the deer, so that all were on one wooden slab. Then taking a hand sown wooden basket she put the slab of meats in the basket and handed it to Ailonwy. She took her money and smiled, she got quite a bit, almost to much for her to believe.
Placing the money in her silk pouch she smiled, it was almost pull. Soon she could buy a good horse and maybe a house. But those where far off dreams, she then asked " So do you live around here? hope ya don't mind me asking" She said. Sage offered her a wooden chair beside herself. Sage sat down on hers and waited.

"Yes, I do," Ailonwy replied. "Oh, thank you." She accepted the seat, thankful to be off her feet after a whole day of work. "I don't remember seeing you around here before. Where do you live?" Ailonwy doubted that Sage lived anywhere; she looked strong and dressed as if she moved around quite a bit. But Ailonwy wasn't one to judge by looks, so she thought to ask anyway.

In the center of the market place, on the edge of a beautiful crystalline fountain, sat a seemingly young man. His hair was spiky, but messy, and fiery orange in color; his baggy clothing worn and disheveled. In his hands and raised to his lips was an elegantly simple, polished wooden ocarina. Blowing into the instrument, nimble fingers moving adroitly to manipulate the finger holes, producing a slow, enchanting melody. Seemingly oblivious to the world with closed eyes, he gracefully moved back and forth with the music, having a certain air of tranquility about him. Though, despite his delicately pointed ears, he was not an Elf. His tail, yes, tail, moved back and forth in sync with the music. It was thin and monkey-like, covered in fur the same color as the man's hair. A beat up and dented tin cup sat on the ground, between his black boots, which were well worn like the rest of his clothing. A polished light-weight iron sheath containing a katana leaned against the fountain's edge. It was a high quality looking weapon that looked somewhat out of place next to him, what with his disheveled clothing. There was also a long, scythe looking object tightly wrapped in black cloth and, oddly enough, chained. Upon close inspection, one would find that each link in the black chain had runes etched into it and that it was made of no ordinary metal. In direct contrast to his serene appearance, he gave off a demonic aura, albeit a very weak one. The two weapons also gave off a distinct demonic aura. However, both the swords's and scythe's auras were greatly suppressed by the sheath and chain, respectively. It would take another demon, or some other being with preternatural senses, to detect the auras. Near the man sat a beautiful, almost regal looking, wolfdog. Her soft, spotless fur was as white as fresh snow. Her piercing blue eyes, however, were as cold as ice, wary watching all who passed by. It was fairly obvious that this creature had a disdain for strangers. Also near him was a small piglet dozing on the fountain's edge, using a slumped, ratty brown rutsack as a pillow.

" No I live no where near here, I lived and was raised in the mountains" Sage said as she noticed a person with animals by a fountain.

Ailonwy nodded. "Oh," she acknowledged, deciding Sage didn't want to talk about it by the way she avoided saying where she lived. Ailonwy followed her gaze to a bright-haired young man, or he looked young, anyway. A beautiful, but seemingly untrusting, wolf was accompanying him, as was an adorable piglet. She had a strong urge to go over and scoop the thing into her arms, but decided it would be a bit bold of her. She looked back at Sage, already feeling a fondness for her. Sage, unlike most people, had not judged that she could not carry the meet just because she didn't look strong, or because she was female. Looking again at the pile, she suddenly felt unsure of herself.

Sage felt a shiver down her spine, a she closed her eyes and re-open them.

Kamui's song came to an end and he lowered the ocarina to rest on his lap, opening his eyes, looking around as if it were his first time seeing the place. His eyes were bright and sharp, taking in everything around him. The right was a deep emerald green, while his left eye was the same fiery orange as his hair. Then he looked down at the dented tin cup to see a handful of copper coins and even a silver coin. "Hm. I suppose I'll save this for a rainy day," He said to himself, pocketing the silver coin, "In the meantime... Sak, watch Yib an' our stuff." Placing the ocarina near the rutsack and sleeping piglet, Kamui stood and strolled over towards Sage's stand. Giving both her and Ailonwy a friendly nod, he tipped the copper coins from the cup onto the table, "I know it's not much, but how much meat will this get me?"

"How much do you want?" Ailonwy asked, deciding to pay for what he couldn't afford to help both him and Sage out. Of course, she wasn't aware of this man's overgrown appetite... "I'll pay for what you can't. I enjoy hearing a good tune. All of our local minstrels seem partial to songs of melancholy--it was nice to hear something jovial." She offered him a kind smile, then looked past him to the piglet, the smile remained.

Sage looked at them both. " I can give him one slab of meat. I" She said taking the coin and then looked at Ailonwy " It is ok, really” Sage got up and went behind her curtain, taking a slab that had half of deer and half of boar. She slipped a gold coin under one of the meats and then went out front. Placing it on her table she picked up a hand woven basket placed the meat in it and handed it to Kamui. " I liked your music, the only music I can do is voice" She said and smiled.

He looked at Ailonwy and smiled, "Thank you, but it's okay. Ya' don't hafta do that, miss, uh...?" He turned back as Sage emerged from the curtain to hand him the basket, his nose twitching. 'It isn't just meat I smell. Hm.' "Thank you. Suce a nice lit'le basket. It musta taken some time ta' make 'em all, huh? How dedicated ya' are ta' your customers...," His nose twitched again and he reached into the basket, holding up the gold coin, "Quite dedicated indeed. I thank you for your kindness, but if I accept this, wouldn't that be a detriment to your business? You've gotta make a livin' as well, no?" He placed the gold coin on the counter and laughed, "Heh heh, besides, the metal'll give the meat a bad taste."
