"Heh, yeah. Garu almost fell overboard on that trip." Saro laughed. "Either way, he ended up getting covered in water and smelling like a washrag for two days again." At this, Garu padded up and roughly bumped Saro in the side with his nose. That was you who almost fell over, and me who saved you, moron! he thought irritably. He'd decided to leave Sak alone; she was never too friendly.
"Anyway... it's true that no man owns the world. And while no one can exactly hand you the world, I'm sure one day you'll be able to meet someone who can really give you the world. Someone who could tell you stories about the world outside, perhaps, or, even better, someone who'd sweep you off on an adventure." Saro told Ailonwy, with a sort of goofy grin. "Some day from now." he added, bending down to scritch Garu's ears. "So, when does the festival start?"

"I don't want to be given the world," Ailonwy said with a smirk. "I want to make my own stories. Which is what I'm going to do... The festival? It should be starting soon. Oh, goodness! How did I not notice? Look! All the merchants are arriving. Oh, what am I going to do? I have to cook, but first I have to find him, and I need to get the cake batter ready, and oh, I've lost track of time!" She looked flustered as she collected the meat she had to carry home. She wrapped her arms around the bundle and tried to straighten her back out. It was too heavy. She strained and finally lifted the meat, but with great difficulty. She still tried, however, putting on foot in front of the other and stepping. "Ugh!" she groaned. "I hope to... ugh... see you all at the... festival. Mayhaps we can dance." She forced a smile before her face went back into strain and she started off for home, trying to avoid the seeming parade of merchants coming into town to set up their stands.

"Ah, that must've sucked. Hope ya' didn't catch a cold. That water is, well, cold...," Kamui said to Saro, before throwing in a greeting to Garu as nudged his brother. "Huh?" He said, blinking as he watched Ailonwy fluster. He looked at Saro and shrugged before following her. "Find who?" He asked, walking behind her, "An' do ya' want help with that?" Then, sounding like an excited child, "...An' do ya' need someone ta', um... clean... the cake batter off the spatula?"
(So, um... maybe someone should email Sage, or somethin'...)

ooc;; Or we could just move on. She can rejoin at any time she so wishes. We'll just say, in the role play, that she vanished mysteriously. Adventurers have their arcane business to attend to occasionally.
ic;; Ailonwy laughed at Kamui's seeming childishness. "Okay, you carry the meat and then you can help me clean the bowl and spatula," she groaned, trying to offer the load to Kamui.

Ooc: I'd go with that idea.
Bic: "Whoa, hold up!" Saro called, running up to join the group. "We can hold some of that for you." he offered, dropping his bag and crossing over between Ailonwy and Kamui.
"There he goes, using that 'we' again." Garu sighed in Dog. He ruffled through Saro's pack with his paws and nose while Saro relieved Ailonwy of the top half of the meat stack. After a bit, Garu dislodged a clean blanket and a length of rope. "Thata' boy Garu." Saro said with a teasing grin, prompting an eye roll from the canine. With a deft flick of his teeth, Garu draped the blanket over his back, and Saro promptly tied three slabs of meat around his back.
"So..." Saro began, grabbing his pack while balancing the remainder of his portion on one hand, "What's this about cake-making?" he asked with an eager grin.

"Yes... clean the bowl... an' the cake pan, I mean spatula..." Kamui licked his lips, clearly excited about the prospect of cake. He took the other half of the meat in on hand, walking quickly back to the fountain. Using his free hand to sling the cloaked and chained scythe-like object over his back and slip the sheathed sword through his belt, on his right side, he then slung the rutsack over his shoulder and made to catch up with Ailonwy, Saro, and Garu. With her nose, Sakurako nudged the sleeping piglet before following Kamui. Yibbles gave a yawn and stretched before hopping off the fountain ledge and trotting off after Sakurako and Yibbles.
(All right then.)

Ailonwy stepped lightly alongside them, only stooping to pick up the piglet before continuing. "Poor thing, you have such short legs," Ailonwy cooed, tickling Yibbles's belly. "I hope my father will be pleased. Oh, I have so much work to do..." She involuntarily picked up her pace, turning off of the main road toward her home.

"Well, Garu and I could help out. Our family runs a tavern, so we can do a bunch of jobs. Y'know, cooking, cleaning, carrying, and the like." Saro said with a gallant smile, readjusting his grip on the stack of meat; the top piece was slipping.
Garu sighed, and slowed down until he was level with Kamui, taking care to walk on his Sakurako-free side. "Fancy running into you again, huh Kamui?" Garu woofed, stepping carefully in order to keep his balance. "This is starting to feel very familiar..." he added in a low mutter, glancing meaningfully at Saro's back.
"Wow, that's a beautiful house! Spotless, weedless... probably 100 times cleaner than my old room back at home." Saro joked.

"Thank you!" Ailonwy said, blushing a little at the appreciation of someone noticing her hard work. She walked up the path to the door and unlocked it before stepping inside. "Give me the meat a little at a time," she said, "so that you can remove your shoes."

Yibbles oinked happily when Ailonwy picked him up, clearly enjoying the attention he was receiving. "Yeah, go figure, man," He spoke in quite barks, "Heh heh, don't let it bother ya'. I'm sure it just means your brother can, an' does, depend on ya', ya' know?" "I can help out as well, if that would be okay." Kamui offered humbly as they came upon Ailonwy's home. Walking up the path to her door, Kamui began to hop on one foot, reaching for his boot with his free hand. "I bet I can... just... whoa... gah...! He tumbled over, sprawled out on her doorstep, packages of meat scattered over him. "Heh heh... Well, at least nothin' hit the ground..."

Ailonwy was suppressing a giggle as she watched Kamui bouncing on one foot. It was quite the sight. Then the smile left and her face became filled with worry as he fell. She sat Yibbles down carefully but quickly.
"Are you alright, Sy?" asked, hurrying forward. She wasn't strong enough to help Kamui himself up, so she relieved him of two meat packages, going down the hall and into a sitting room, then going through a door on the left into the kitchen. She sat the packages down on the counter before returning to help carry more meat.
Her father was standing behind Kamui. He had dirty-blonde hair, dark green eyes, and slightly more rugged features, though he had no facial hair. His complexion was about the only thing he and Ailonwy had in common. He was smiling quizzically at Kamui.
"Need a hand?" he asked, offering one.

"Hm. The great Kamui, able to flick a heavily built professional soldier over his shoulder, and yet can't balance on one leg? I having trouble buying it." Garu laughed playfully in a series of barks. Regardless, he padded forward and delicately fixed his teeth around one of Kamui's boot strings, smoothly releasing the knot, before starting on the next one.
Saro had turned around at the same time as Ailonwy, and also had difficulty suppressing a grin, until Kamui fell. "Come on, what're you doing man?" Saro asked, shaking his head, as he rushed over and began transferring the rest of the meat on Kamui's back into the pile in his hand.
"Need a hand?" came a paternal voice from close by. Saro glanced up into a face that seemed just barely reminiscent of Ailonwy's, and made a snap conclusion. "Oy, Ailonwy! There's someone here I think you want to meet!" Saro called, standing up awkwardly with his stack of meat. "Heh, sorry to have to greet you like this, Mr. um... Ailonwy's dad. Especially with all the trouble your daughter went through making the place spotless. Um, I'll be right back." Saro said with a wink, slipping smoothly through the door and depositing his own stack of meat.

"Heh... Hello," Kamui looked up into the face of Ailonwy's father, before his eyes went quickly to Garu and laughed a bit. "Great? Whoever said I was great?" His attention fell back on Ailonwy's father. He reached his hand up, taking her father's and pulled himself up, but letting his rutsack slip off and stay on the ground. He kicked off his now untied boots as he rose, revealing black cotton socks. He did not release the other man's hand right away, but gave it a hearty shake, with a sort of goofy grin on his face. "It's nice ta' meetcha, Ailonwy's Dad.
(Kipp already knows this, but I figure this is a good time to tell you, Valter, what with Garu and the boots. Kamui wears weighted clothing. His boots [10lbs each] and long vest [50lbs] are weighted, along with wrist weights [10lbs each] concealed under his baggy long-sleeved shirt. His rutsack is also weighted [50lbs].)

(Oh, well, then I guess it's a good thing Garu didn't try to do more than take off the laces then. Unless the laces also weight 2 pounds, or something. ^^

"Feiniel Entwistle," Ailonwy's dad introduced himself as he shook Kamui's hand. "You're a heavy fellow, aren't you?" He examined Kamui for a moment. "You don't look that..." He was interrupted when his daughter flung herself into his arms.
"Father!" she exclaimed. He hugged her back. When she stepped back from the embrace, she looked apologetic. "Things aren't quite done yet. I wasn't expecting you so soon, and I lost track of the time..." He silenced her with a hand.
"My friends and I will not be back until after the dance," he said. "So cook the food, put on some preservation spells, and join us later, will you?" Ailonwy nodded appreciatively. "I merely stopped by to give you something. He reached into his vest and pulled out a sack. Out of that, he pulled a box that seemed much too large to have fit in there. It was, of course, the work of magic. Her father was quite good at storing things away in places they shouldn't be able to fit. She accepted the box. "Wear this tonight. Men will come from every corner of Eria to see you!" Ailonwy laughed.
"I doubt that, Father," she replied. "But I will wear it. Thank you so much." She hugged him again and hurried into the house to put the box on her bed. Her father remained there, examining the animals and people before him. It wasn't a judging examination, it was purely out of curiosity. As Saro came back out, he offered his hand.
"Feiniel," he introduced himself for the second time. "You boys wouldn't happen to be after my daughter...?" he asked, though his voice wasn't one of accusation. As a matter-of-fact, there may have even been a smidgen of hope.
