"I'll tell ya which way ta turn lovely." he said, grinning as he leaned against the railing nearby. "Starboards to yer right. Ports ta yer left." Li'an was enjoying this. It was fun to teach others, especially when it was a friend. A new friend a new adventure...he could get used to this.

"Ah. Starboard, right and port, left...," Kamui nodded with a grin. "See, now, I know I'll forget that later. It's like a curse. I can remember the Ninja Jûhakkei, the eighteen ninja disciplines... Seishin-teki kyôyô, spiritual refinement technique; Taijutsu, body skill; Kenjutsu, sword technique; Bôjutsu, staff technique; Shurikenjutsu, shuriken technique; Sôjutsu, spear technique; Naginatajutsu, naginata technique; Kusarigamajutsu, kusarigama technique; Kayakujutsu, the art of gunpowder; Hensôjutsu, disguise and impersonation technique; Shinobi-iri, stealth technique; Bajutsu, horsemanship; Sui-ren, water training; Bôryaku, military strategy; Chôhô , secret information; Intonjutsu , the art of escape and concealment; Tenmon, meteorology; Chi-mo, geography. I can remember the literary works of-- see, damn, I forgot already. It's a curse, I tell you."

Li'an chuckled, grinning at him. "Jus' remember, starboards to ya right, ports to the left. don' think 'bout nothin' else. Concentrate on yer sailin'...ya do much else and ya might steer us off course." He didn't know, nor did he really much care for it, about the ninja disciplines. He was a pirate after all.

"All right, all right. Starboard, right. Port, left. Starboard, right. Port, left...," Like a mantra, he kept repeating it under his breath. "Say, why don't sailors just say 'left' an' 'right'? Wouldn't that be so much easier? Starboard, right. Port, left..." He could now felt a drop a rain. Then another, and another. He grinned, looking up at the storm clouds in anticipation. Never mind that he was inexperienced at steering a ship this size, he loved a challenge and hoped the approaching storm would give him one. Sakurako joined Kamui at the helm, seemingly as eager as him. Yibbles trotted behind wolfdog, obliviously, as usual.

His grin broadened at kamui's statement. "That'd ma'e things to easy, don'cha thin'?" He asked, leaning back and enjoying the first drops of rain. "Now...steady as she goes, it'll be easier ta ride righ' through..." He said, his sharp eyes seeing the storm before anyone else. It was gonna be a doozy, but thats what made it exciting.

"Too easy? Not for the directionally challenged, like myself," Kamui laughed. "All right, steady as she goes...!" He called out over the wind, keeping the wheel steady with apparent ease as the rain began to fall heavier and the waters became choppy. "Arrr, batt'n down th' hatches... an'... stuff! Gotta work on the pirate lingo... savvy, or something...?" The small piglet sought refuge from the rain under Sakurako, who seemed unaffected by it.

"Now now...don' ge' too big fer ya britches lovely." He said, grinning. "I still gi'e the orders 'round 'ere." He got up, patting his shoulder. "Le's move slightleh more to the right lovely, 'fore this storm shows its true colors savvy?" He was casting his eyes about. This storm was seemingly innocent for now. "I'd ratheh outrun this one..."

"Oh, heh heh... sorry, got caught up in the moment," He grinned, rubbing the back of his head. "Right, that's starboard! ...Right? Or port? Dammit." In anycase, with both hands firmly on the wheel, he gave it a small turn to the right. Thunder rumbled in the distance. Where there was thunder there was most often lightning.

"Ya were righ' the firs' time...starboard love." He heard the thunder and his eyes sharpened and he was looking about. "Kee' a weather eye on the sails." He barked out at them. Li'en, for as much fun as he was, was strictest during a storm. Especially one that dealt with lightening. He squeezed Kamui's shoulder gently. "Kee' us goin' straigh'..." He managed.

"Ya' can count on me, man." He said, meeting Li'an's eyes for a brief moment before setting his gaze straight ahead. Thunder boomed and all of a sudden the sky was lit up by a beautiful, but deadly, streak of lighting. The wind howled and the rain began to pour down. The waves began to get bigger and bigger. "Heh!" Kamui tightened his grip on the wheel and steadied himself. Sakurako stood her ground too, Yibbles pressing up against the wolfdog.

Li'en patted his shoulder. "Kee' goin'....don' let the currents dra' us off course." He then jumped the railing and hit the deck. Two of his crew were struggling to catch a rope that was lashing out wildly in the wind. Li'en leapt onto a barrell...and catapulted himself from there, a good forty feet into the air to grab the rope, and swing out over the water before bringing it back down to the deck. The crew helped him tie it down as he shouted orders to tighten all the sail ropes. He was soaked, as were they all, his hair clinging to hsi slim features.
He was in among the crew in a way he hadn't been since Seven had been with them. Seven had been good in a storm, able to detect the subtle shift in the air that pronounced a lightning strike. He was good at getting out of the way of them. But he trusted Kamui enough to leave him in charge of the wheel.

"Nice catch, man!" Kamui called out as Li'an and the crew secured the loose rigging. He shook his wet hair out of his eyes and sniffed the air, 'Hmm...' "Hey, hang on ta' somethin', people!" He called out, throwing a hand up in the air, letting off a blue spark of Ki before returning his hand to the wheel, which he gave a hard turn. "Hard ta'... whichever, I'm turnin' left!" The spark of Ki hung in the air above his head, pointing dead ahead, and did not turn with the ship. Said ship veered sharply to the left (the faster a ship is going, the tighter and faster it can turn, and the Devil's Tooth is goin' pretty fast as far as ships go, what with the magical propulsion). It had narrowly evaded a huge wave that could quite possibly have foundered or capsized the ship. Sakurako dug in her claws and remained firmly rooted in place. Yibbles, on the other hand, slid across the deck. "Don't leggo yet! Hard ta'... Right!" He spun the wheel in the opposite direction and the ship veered sharply to the right, which brought them back to close their original direction. A bolt of lightning hit the water where they had been a moment ago, sending a spray of sea foam on to the deck. Not that it even matter with the downpour and all. "Whoo hoo hoo! This looks like a big'un, eh?" Yibbles had slid back in the opposite direction, Sakurako extending a paw to stop the little piglet.
(I hope I'm doing all right. I've RPed on sailing vessels before, and I've RPed with storms, but I've never RPed a storm at sea.)

(You're doing fine ^^)
The pirates all clung to something near them, holding on for dear life as the ship veered from starboard to port. Li'an ducked across the deck and, amazingly, kept his footing as he moved. He had noticed the dodge out of the way of the lightning and he grinned lightly. Kamui was a great addition..."Yer doin' grea' lovely!" He said in passing, one hand briefly poised on his back, "Brin' us through the storm." His eyes were still serious, but sparkling in excitement. Storms were wonderful things if you had a crew that could manage them.

"Yessir!" Kamui called to Li'an from the helm, performing a salute with his soggy furred tail. "She certainly handles well, eh, Sak?" He said to Sakurako, who remained steadfast by his side. "I bet she'd turn on a copper piece." He gave the wheel another sharp turn and the ship veered, avoiding another lightning strike. "...Oh, sorry, I forgot! Hang on!" Though he knew not the science behind it, his supernaturally acute sense of smell could detect the ions produced during the rapid chemical changes that took place in the ozone before and after a lightning strike. The arrow of Ki above his head never wavered, and it was a simple matter of lining up the ship's bow back up to stay on course whenever he had to veer the ship.
(Should Kamui really bring the ship through the storm, or should it go arwy, with the crew ending up shipwrecked on some deserted island, or something? I can just see Li'an getting Kamui alone on some beach...)

Li'an caught the hand of a crew member who nearly fell off the boat, dragging him back on and into place. He grinned up at Kamui, "A li'l late wit the warnin' love." He said, chuckling to himself as he continued across the boat, helping to keep it steady for Kamui to steer. So far so good, they were making great time. Plus, Kamui could steer very well for a first timer. That was what had Li'en happier than the storm. He could be among the crew, and he could trust that Kamui would be able to get them through.
(Mmm....as long as the ship was repairable I don't think I'd mind getting shipwrecked...Li'an wouldn't be in the mood for anything if his ship got totally destroyed XD They could always be struck by lightning, and be forced to dock at the nearest land spotting.
=D I can see that too hehe =3)
