This is no doubt where Vycent and Evelyn would butt heads over and over again - their temperaments were far too similar, and a plus and a plus always equaled a minus. The demon couldn't care less who was or wasn't her master, or whether she would be ordered around or not, or even that he was quite fond of the shifter. The bottom line was that he was pissed off, and he would do as he liked, and he wouldn't tell her what to do so much as do whatever HE wanted, with disregard for anyone else.
But, as was the same with Evvie, they seemed to regard each other equally, the high demon dismissing her indifference and ignoring her as much as she did him, especially when she dangled her arm into the water. He concentrated instead on the last remnants of light than the sound of the water trickling through her fingertips, eyes flitting over to Will momentarily when he announced that he was tired. Vyncent had admittedly gotten a decent amount of satifaction from Will's reaction to his little 'warning', and that in itself might make the boy more tolerable to be around. He may even find him worth travelling with, once he knew what Will could do... no, he wouldn't deny that the child definitely had his talents, with those sprites especially.
The demon allowed himself a soft growl in reply to Will's statement, both a reminder that he still wasn't in the best of moods, and the acceptance that right now, on the water or not, it was time to sleep for a while. He folded his arms, anchoring himself against the wooden side of the vessel and tilted his head down, the sheet of silvery hair falling over his face so his expression was invisible. And then he said nothing more; perhaps he was asleep, perhaps just listening.

Sulking was exhausting work and it wasn't long before Evelyn found herself falling to sleep where she was. Her head lolled to rest against her arm, fingertips still trailing through the water, vibrant hair falling across her face as slumber crept up on her mind. Her hair fluttered with her soft breathing, the shifter seeming totaly innocent and harmless as she slept, seeming to be just like any other young woman, with nothing much to worry about and nothing much to fear from liffe. How different that was to her reality.
The sun was hung low in the sky when the veil of darkness began to lift from her mind, the shifter purring as she moved, stretching out a little to rid her limbs of stiffness before curling up on the deck again, her face turned up toward the warm sun, removing her hand from the cool water. Her sulk was forgotten now, the warmth meaning that she was waking up in a generally good and cheerful mood, though how long her mood would stop that way was another question all together; we all know how quickly Evelyn's moods could swing.

Vyncent had been awake for a while now, much to his dislike - though he spent a lot of energy everyday; more than was necessary really, he didn't really have a big appetite to replenish it. His energy was recovered completely by sleep, which he had a feeling he wasn't going to get much of while he was stuck on the boat. His gaze was focused on the banks of the river a little way away from them as they drifted onwards, the high demon seeming to be calculating just how long they would be on the river. They were going to encounter other vessels soon enough, he could tell. They were moving into traders' territory, and he wasn't looking forward to that.
"Morning, Evelyn." he greeted her softly upon realising she was awake. Like the shapeshifter, their little argument had been long forgotten - it was a new day, a new day meant new things to be angry at, new things to destroy. When he'd first woken up it had surprised him to find Will on the boat with them; he'd almost forgotten that they'd picked up the boy on their travels, and it had taken him a few moments to decipher where he had come from. The last day or so had caught up with him then, and he'd returned to watching the bank. To be honest Vyncent was feeling a little sick by now, he and the water simply didn't mix very well and he'd be glad to see the back of this little detour into the river.

William slid seamlessly out of a sleep he couldn’t remember beginning as Vyncent and Evelyn’s voices stirred the lethargic thickness of the air. He shook his head like a dog to knock the heavy fuzz of sleep from his mind, but wincing as pain jolted down his arms. Gingerly, he felt his shoulders, wondering if the protection of his adopted parents would have done anything for them. Apparently it had – the wounds were definitely still there, but the scab already looked a few days old. With a contented smile he settled back into his position. For all that, on the edge of his memory, he missed his old life, this one had its advantages too.
Evelyn and Vyncent seemed to have forgotten their almost-fight of earlier, treating each other with a strange kind of courtesy. Will hadn’t forgotten Evelyn’s anger with him, but wondered slightly if she had as he smiled tiredly and a bit stupidly at her as his mind tried to throw off the last dregs of sleep and work out what it was doing. The last thing he recalled was watching the water – and then the strange shapes and sounds of half-remembered dreams.
“G’morning,” Will said thickly, but his tongue heavy in his mouth. He was still waking up, and the accelerated healing borrowed on his strength to do its thing. He rested his head in his arms on the edge of the boat and waited with slightly nervous anticipation to see how the demon and the shifter would react to him today.

Her eyes fluttered open at the sound of the demon's voice, revealing those dazzeling emerald eyes, the colour only slightly dimmed by the fog of sleep that she was waiting to lift from her mind. "Morning Vynce." She purred to him sleepily, yawning widely as she laid there in the sun, not seeming to have any intentions of moving anytime soon. She let her head flop to the side to look over at Vynce, a hint of curiosity flashing through her orbs as she noticed that Wll was...grinning at her? What, did the boy actually think that he deserved to know that she knew that he was there? Nope, he couldn't, and if he did then he was wrong. Her little disagreement with Vyncent had been forgotten as they were friends, but she had developped a strong dislike for the child that was sat opposite her.
Instead of responding to him she just blinking slowly, as if to ask him what the Hell he thought he was doing, before her attention turned back to Vyncent. "Hmmm, you know what?" She mumbled to him, traces of her sleepiness still evident in her voice. "I'm hungry Vynce, do we have food?" She seemed pretty hopeful as she asked. She had associated Vyncent with providing for her by this point in their friendship, which meant that she half expected that he would just whip a meal out from under his jacket and hand it to her as if he had been expecting he request.

Vyncent, at least, seemed to be in a more tolerable mood this morning, as long as they could take a short break from this hell-boat first. He inclined his head a little to show that he had acknowledged Will's greeting, hiding a yawn behind his hand. His anger, although envoked at the drop of a hat was all flares and fireworks, which tended to make it fleeting. Very little made him hold a grudge for a long while, considering that within hours something else would have managed to annoy him anyway. And Will simply wasn't worth the effort to be angry at today, he had better things to concern himself with. Like where they were going, whether the people of Valley Town had decided to chase them, and what had happened to those nobles that had poisoned them to begin with?
Then Evelyn spoke, and he was dragged out of his thoughts.
Food? Ugh, the mere thought made him feel even more ill, and he rubbed his eyes before turning his gaze to the banks of the river. "If we can find somewhere to dock, we can find somewhere to eat." he murmured softly, pushing his hand back through his hair.

Mild irritation flitted through the back of Will’s consciousness at Evelyn’s reaction to him – or lack thereof. He hadn’t really, as far as he could tell, done anything really bad to her. He had accidentally broken Vyncent’s illusion, accidentally insulted her when trying to save his own skin, and finally, accidentally ignored her just a few hours ago. She was a cat! Who payed attention to every purr a cat made? Besides, Evelyn ignored him half the time anyway. It wasn’t fair – she was behaving like a stuck-up, attention starved little girl. But Will didn’t bother to think those things properly, instead ghosting the thoughts past his awake brain before handing them back to his subconscious. He couldn’t be bothered to be angry with Evelyn – he didn’t have the energy, and he’d rather have her happy with him and be able to be happy with her in return. Anger, it would appear, wasn’t the best way to achieve that. He lay back on the bench in their small boat and closed his eyes, listening to the sounds around him. The ripple and splash of the river, Evelyn’s soft, barely audible breathing, and the quiet hum of the motor blended together around him in a blurry, fading melody.
Evelyn said something, and Will opened his eyes again, staring up at the clouds. The rare music he’d been listening to before was gone – Evelyn’s fault, but he wasn’t going to do anything about it. She was hungry? His eyes gleamed with momentary cunning as he reached into his pocket, feeling for the cool bulge of the apple he’d stolen from a small village nearby Valley Town. There had been two, but he’d since eaten the first on his way up to Valley Town. Languidly, Will offered it to Evelyn. If she still wanted to ignore him, that was her choice – but then she’d have to put up with him eating it in front of her.

(Mind if I join in? If not, I'll leave Gyan inhaled a deep lungfull of river air and opened his eyes to the bright sun as he stood at the bow of an elongated corsair, cruising down the Great River. Gyan had never really owned a boat, but had hitched a ride with a couple of sailors who were on their way to wherever they wanted to go. Not quite sure of his destination, Gyan gave his armor a shake and turned to look at the rest of the boat. It was simple, wooden with metal reinforcement. There were sailors walking and working two and fro, some were playing cards, some were washing the deck. He craned his neck to look at the crows nest atop the mast where there was a weedy looking boy with a telescope. Gyans chocobo was below decks in a room they had cleared out at the request of two platinum peices and a 'please'. Fenrir got seasick easy when he could see the water. Turning back to look at the water, the sunlight glistening off of his polished plating, he looked over and happened to notice a small, crowded boat heading in the same direction.

(Join away! The more the merrier.)
Evelyn pouted at Vyncent, looking disappointed when he didn't just produce a meal for her, allowing a light sigh to slip from between her lips. His answer meant that, no, she wouldn't be getting a meal today because they wouldn't be able to dock without people trying to murder them horribly. Maybe she should go hunting? But then she might loose the boat and Vynce and she wouldn't be very happy if that happened. In fact, if that happened she may just have a maul a few people so that gossip would mean that the demon knew where to find her again.
She tilted her head at the apple as Will offered it to her, half expecting him to snatch it away as soon as she reached out to take it. She leant forward to sniff at the apple lightly, as if to check that he hadn't poisoned it or anything; being poisoned wasn't an experience that she wanted to experience again. Once she was satisfied that this wasn't an undercover attempt to murder her she reached out and took the apple, murmuring a thank you to the boy as she crawled over to sit by Vyncent; Vyncent was safe and she thought it was better to sit by him just incase the apple exploded or ate her or something.

Vyncent couldn't help but smirk a little as this exchange took place between Evelyn and Will, the demon sighing and leaning back against the boat as the shapeshifter moved to sit by him. As relieved as he was that he wouldn't have to come between another fight they were having, this meant that they weren't going to be able to find a place to dock and get off the boat for a while; ugh, he could just see this ending with him sprawled over the side of the vessel, seasick. And he wasn't looking forward to that at all. The demon sighed lightly, running his fingers through his hair and glancing up sharply as they were dwarfed in the shadow of another boat.
He was right, they had been on the verge of traders' territory, and now they were going to have to mingle with other boats, other people. Brilliant. With the reputation he and Evelyn had made for themselves lately (and the smoking mess of Valley Town's town hall somewhere behind them) it was only a matter of time before someone recognised them. At least if they had to continue on foot he could feel like himself again, instead of some contained, weak mortal. He locked his gaze with the man standing at the side of this larger boat, nearly blinded by the sun that reflected from his armour. "I can see that this is going to end well." he muttered under his breath sarcastically.

Will smiled ever-so-slightly as Evelyn took the apple, even offering a quick thank you as she went. It wasn’t a malicious smile though, the sort of smile one makes after hatching an evil plan – it was satisfied and content, devoid of any spiteful emotion. Bitter Will had receded with sleep, locked somewhere slumbering deep within Will’s soul. The Will out on the moment was simple, happy with little things, and doing all it could to make peace with his fellow travellers. Evelyn’s acceptance of his meagre gift was a good start. He rolled onto his side, half-shutting his eyes in the warm sun. He was happy, warm, and he could lie down. With those three simple facts, he could put all his hardships aside just for a moment and relax.
But just for a moment, and as the seconds passed Will felt the intensity radiating out of Vyncent and even, to a lesser extent, Evelyn. With a sigh that was more than a little disappointed, he propped himself up on an elbow – winced at the pain, and sat up properly – and followed their gaze. To his surprise, it was another boat, and there were people on it. One person in particular caught his attention. It seemed as though the figure was wearing armour made of light itself – the sunshine bounced off it and dazzled his eyes, and Will had to look away. But even in that brief moment of eye-contact, Will realised that this was going to be another one of those special people. It was the same sixth sense that told him Vyncent and Evelyn were somehow important, even back when they had looked like ordinary people. Not hierarchically significant, perhaps, but somehow meaningful in his life. He didn’t say anything, instead glancing over at Vyncent and Evelyn questioningly.

She settled by the demon to munch on the apple happily after her initial, tentative bite. She wasn't dead yet and the apple wasn't trying to kill her, so she guessed that it must be safe to eat, and if it was safe to eat then she was devouring it before someone asked her to share! It was only an apple, after all, but at the moment it was the best tasting apple that she had ever eaten. Fruit wasn't one of Evelyn's favourite of foods, but it would do just fine when there wasn't anything real to eat; real generally consisting of anything that had once been alive and required catching.
She was nibbling around the apples core as she realised that something had caught the attention of her fellow travellers, the apple still dangling out of her mouth as her emerald eyes flickered up to the other boat. "Why couldn't we have a nice big boat like that?" She pouted to Vyncent, abandoning the core of the apple in the water, having to squint against the light on the man's armour. "Lets make them swap?" She suggested to Vyncent, nudging him lightly as she turned her attention to the demon. "Then you don't have to be as close to the water, it'll almost be like being on proper ground." She nodded to him enthusiastically, not particularly liking the 'I'm too close to water' Vyncent.
( Sorreh for stealing your post Gyan but I forgotted to notice your boat in my other post so I decided to notice it here. ^^)

(Its allright)
Gyan put a hand up to his eyes to block out glare and called out ot the dingy on the water. "Hey! You want to hitch a ride? That thing looks like it could fall in any minute!"
The sailor captain looked at Gyan and put hands on his hips, but Gyan turned and tossed more coin at him, and the man nodded, returning below decks.
Gyan walked over to the side of the boat and began to uncoil a rope, clinking and chinking whenever he moved. He kind of liked the noise.
Before he tossed it though, he looked back at the small boat they were now beside, and much taller than.

((Okies, Ink wants to skip her post now. Nice, Ink. XD)
If anything could have reassured Vyncent less about their safety on the water, it was the stranger's words that they 'may fall in at any minute'. The demon really wasn't feeling himself lately, which probably explained why he quite willingly rose to his feet on the little vessel, smirking lightly at Evelyn's mentioning that they should swap boats. Seeing her try to cheer him up felt odd to him - usually they just argued and laughed and killed things. This was strange. He would have 'swapped boats' too, were it not for the fact that the same stranger was actually offering them a free ride, minus the murdering of the crew. And would Vyncent EVER refuse free passage? Hell no. Besides that, they'd probably need the crew with the little snag that they couldn't possible operate a larger vessel on their own, which could prove a little bit of a problem.
He stared up at the man in armour with obvious distaste nonetheless; Vynce wasn't exactly well known for getting on well with others, was he? Eventually, as though he had to think it over, he nodded up at the stranger, not really liking how fragile their little boat had become on the Great River. "Alright." he called up. It was better than floating along for a few more hours until he finally gave up and flung himself at the banks of the river, unable to take any more.

Will glanced up in slight awe at the size of the other boat, the edge of which seemed higher above them now than even Vyncent could reach. He shuffled along the bench to the other side of the boat, as far as possible from the colossal wall of wood. If they were to hit a patch of water moving the wrong way, they might be knocked into it – the other boat would splinter them to bits. He was a little wary of manmade things that big – his fey influence dictated his beliefs, and they clearly stated that the only things deserving of that kind of majesty were trees and mountains. And castles, too, and maybe cathedrals. Will paused, frowning. So there were lots of things deserving that kind of majesty, but definitely not boats. Boats were meant to be small, except on the high seas. He crossed his arms, wrinkling his nose at the vessel. Now it had confused him, too.
And it would be less fun if they got on the larger boat. Will rather enjoyed the bucking of their small, rickety craft, as much as Vyncent’s even-whiter-than-usual face made clear that the demon didn’t. The boat above would be smooth and so detached from the water… It wouldn’t even be like riding a boat at all. But he was hardly going to stay by himself. That would be even less fun. But he’d wait for Vyncent and Evelyn to go up first, just to prove that he really had no choice. With that in mind, he picked a large piece of congealed blood of his shirt, flicked it into the water, and waited.
