It was obvious that Will was close to being torn to ribbons by the shapeshifter, the girl growling at him lowly as he spoke, her pupils slipping to nothing but slits. But, no, Vyncent was broken, she couldn't trust him not to die while she tore Will limb from limb. She grumbled to herself under her breath as she realised that murdering the boy would have to wait, instead turning to stalk after Vyncent, giving anyone who got too close to them venomous glares. Today was a bad day, she decided. She couldn't wait for today to be over and for tomorrow to start.
She paused as the reached the doorway to the room, remaining their to block Will's way as she turned to him, ignoring that Vyncent was collapsed on the floor, for the moment. "You can't come in." She told him bluntly, pointing back down the stairs. "You need to go fetch flowers. Everyone gives people flowers when they are ill, so you can get some for Vynce." She demanded, the growl to her voice telling that he didn't have any choice in the matter. His stupid medicine hadn't worked, now it was her turn to find a cure.

"Oh joy," Will said, his eyes fading to dark green, "flower picking."
But he trooped out of the room without protest and down the stairs, giving a dangerous glare to a round barmaid who smiled at him on the way past. Flowers. Where would he find flowers in this stupid place? As it turned out, it wasn't difficult. Although he hadn't noticed it before, they were everywhere - in window boxes, planted in rows in front of houses, growing in cracks in the pavement. Cross as he was, they did please him a little bit, and he resented being told to go and pull them out of the ground.
The boy wandered over to a window box, full of red and blue blooms that tumbled from the soil like a colourful fountain. He dragged his fingers through them, pleased with the way they bobbed and the group of bees that rose from the plants to nest in his hair. This was nice, but he was sure that Vyncent wouldn't like them. But then... if he didn't fetch any, he had little doubt that Evelyn would knife him, which seemed a lot less pleasant than picking the flowers in the first place.
He tugged at the window box until it came out of the wall, and turned to trudge with it back to the inn.

Vyncent had forgotten that the boy was even there, Evelyn too, so it was unsurprising that his absence wasn't noticed very much by the High Demon. He was concentrating very hard on being able to claw his way to his feet and throw himself at the bed. It was much harder than it sounded, and with a half-hearted fling he eventually managed to find himself somewhat on the bed. One of his arms had managed to grip the side of the thing, and it was holding on for dear, sweet life. He was actually chuckling breathlessly by the time he managed to pull himself onto it fully, burying his head in the pillows and sighing. That had been stupid. He turned his head ever so slightly to watch the shape-shifter, looking vaguely confused.
"Flowers." his voice was muffled by the pillows. "I am not eating FLOWERS." he told her firmly, before promptly passing out. Oh please, if there are any gods up there, the tiniest spark of sober Vyncent was thinking, don't let them force feed me flowers while I sleep.

Evvie closed the door once Will turned to leave, moving to follow Vyncent to the bed, watching him with an arched eyebrow as he attempted to drag himself onto the bed. It would have been hilarious if she hadn't been worried that he was permanently broken. She didn't like this Vyncent very much, the other one, the sober one, was much better. This one was too much hard work.
She sat down on the floor next to his bed, not even looking up at him as he spoke. "Not making you eat flowers. Just go to sleep and heal." She instructed him, pulling her knees up to her chest to rest her chin on them, trying to hide how worried she was. Vyncent wasn't allowed to die, he had promised. She didn't know what she would do without him.

Will came up the stairs with his flowers just in time to see Vyncent drag himself on to the bed and almost collapsed in a fit of giggles. He would have, but he struggled desperately to hide his amusement because he didn't think Evelyn would be pleased by his display of merriment at what appeared to be Vyncent's deathbed. Instead, he looked appropriately sombre until he felt it was okay to speak. At Vyncent's comment he wondered if Evelyn had serious had him fetch flowers to feed to the Demon, but at her comment he regretfully dismissed the thought.
Will stepped forward eventually with his flowers, the bees in his hair humming at the movement.
"I got the flowers, Evelyn," he said, proudly displaying the windowbox.

Will did have some sense, Evelyn was sure to have murdered him without a second thought if he had shown how amused he was by Vyncents state; murdered him quite awfully. She was panicked about the state of the demon, and she felt helpless. The shapeshifter could barely look after herself properly, how could she be expected to nurse someone on their deathbed. Oh, if Vyncent died he was going to be in so much trouble.
She couldn't help but be a little impressed by the flowers that the boy had managed to find, the slightest of smiles even tugging at the edges of her lips as she instructed him to place the window box down by the side of the bed. "Not going to make him eat them." She repeated, just incase Will decided to force feed the flowers to the demon. "People always get flowers for ill people, so they must fix people." She explained, picking one of the flowers before turning to Vyncent, threading the flower into his hair. The closer the flowers were to him, the more effective they would be at healing him.
