"Scandal? Never been part of a scandal before." he chuckled to himself - he'd been talked about, but not on such a hushed, secretive scale, as though people were afraid to breathe near them for fear that they would catch some kind of disease. People usually just looked at him for what he was; some strange, foreign thing that they'd never seen before. This was quite refreshing to him, actually, and he nodded a little, leaning back against the wall and hiding a yawn behind his hand. "Boring and average. Never been that before, either. But I guess I could give it a try, just to piss these people off." he nodded, doing as she suggested and simply standing against the wall, which could have possibly been more annoying to the crowd around them than if he had acted as weird as they'd hoped.
He winced as the bell rang, tilting his head up as if to wonder what was going on and why someone had to shatter the tranquil silence of the Academy with that clanging noise. "Ready...?" he asked, trailing off after her and nodding as he took a space next to her in the line, looking rather puzzled. Stretches? This was a warm up? Kai had never heard of anything like this being done in a group. Sure, he stretched when he was on his own (he'd already done it that morning, which was another reason for his confusion at having to do it again), that was just common sense. But he'd never warmed up... because he had to. In the Arena a 'warm up' constituted the little walk from he tent to the arena itself, and if you could manage to prepare yourself in that time, then good on you.
He was looking about curiously as the other students lined up next to them, running his fingers through his hair and blinking up at the deep blue sky. Oh, he was starting to feel the heat already. Stupid waistcoat. Stupid uniform. "How long does this part take?" he asked Pari softly.

"They can make anything into a scandal here. I think it's worse than being in a school full of girls." She murmured, glancing around at everyone for a moment before glancing up at him. "Oh, you know, Headmaster's daughter running off and being dragged back here with a strange man, it's a pretty interesting scandal really." She smirked faintly, shaking her head. Some people just made mountains out of molehills, they were all so overly dramatic. Oh well, they weren't getting any kind of a show this morning, well, not yet anyway. She was sure that things would get interesting when Kai joined the classes. Everyone would want to know just why he was special enough to be allowed into the academy like he had been.
"It's a warm up. We used to have to do it on our own, but people got lazy and didn't bother and ended up hurting themselves, so they do it like this now. It's supposed to be a group bonding thing, I think. It doesn't usualy last for too long." She told him, brushing a stray strand of hair back from her face as she took her place, ignoring the curious stares that they recieved from the people around them. Ugh, did people really think that they were going to do something exciting if they stared for long enough?
Attentions, however, soon shifted as Dariyush arrived, a wave of whispers following him. He had a rather nasty black eye, and a split lip, both of which were impossible to ignore. It didn't take long for people to make the connection between the state of his face and Kai, people turning to look at him now, as though to check him over for injuries. None? How strange. If they had fought then Dariyush would win, Dariyush always won, right?
Everything fell silent as the teachers lined up at the front, studently reluctantly focusing their attention on them. The teachers lead them through the stretches, basic ones to warm up the muscles first, though they did get more complicated towards the end. Pari had little trouble with them, she had been doing this every morning for longer than she cared to remember, but some of the newer students, the younger ones, looking that unbalanced, unable to follow the teachers instructions. Not yet, but they would learn, everyone started somewhere, right?

"A group bonding session." he repeated, sounding rather amused, really, as if the mere idea of a bonding session was something remarkable and unheard of. He supposed he'd had 'bonding' sessions with other fighters at some point, if you counted sinking your fist into someone's face as being a bonding session... well, he couldn't actually say that it didn't count. He'd done it to Dariyush and he felt like he'd bonded with him in an 'I know what it feels like when your cheekbone cracks under my knuckles' sort of way. He also knew more about him. He was a complete bastard, for instance. There may be more to this 'bonding' thing than he had first believed.
Oh, speak of the devil. Kai tilted his head as Dariyush appeared, ears twitching at the whispers that flooded around him. He glanced down at his fist as if to check that it was alright - his accelerated healing meant that there was only the slightest hints of a bruise, and it had regained all of its strength in just a couple of hours. He didn't intend to cause whispers and gossip and friction between Dariyush and himself, but he didn't think that it was going to help. Dariyush pissed him off, he got punched, and if he pissed off the noble, he got the same. People were going to talk, and there was nothing he could really do about it. He was going to talk to Pari about this when the teachers suddenly appeared, the half-demon quirking an eyebrow as he looked at them. Some of them didn't even look that old. Odd.
He sighed softly as they began the warm up. He didn't see any harm in it, even though he had been 'warming up' effectively since sunrise that morning. It would give him a chance to see a few of the other students and what they could do. Pari, he found, was surprisingly adept at all of this. It was the same as when he had fought her the day before. When she wanted to be, she was very talented. Kai, of course, wasn't exactly unbalanced, able to carry out the majority of the stretches with ease even if he didn't particularly know what they were for, settling on doing them anyway because... well... he supposed that he was meant to. Straightening up at the end of the warm-up, he rubbed the back of his head. "That's all it is?" he asked softly.

Dariyush pointedly avoided looking over at where Pari was stood, knowing that Kai would be there. Ugh, he couldn't be bothered with the slave today, he better make sure to stay out of his way or else they would probably end up fighting again. Pari hadn't paid much attention to her brother either. He had provoked Kai into fighting, it was his own fault that he had been hit. Dariyush had to learn that not everyone was scared of him, just like Kai had to learn to control his temper. They were both at fault, so it wasn't as though she could take sides. Well, alright, she had taken Kai's side, but only because Dariyush had upset him so much. Her brother should learn to mind his manners around guests, then maybe he wouldn't end up with a black eye. Pari looked around to smile at Kai a little as he asked if that was it, nodding to him. "Yeah, it's nothing terribly difficult. They have to make sure that everyone can do it. There are other classes which are all stretches and balances, and those are harder." She explained. She hadn't been expecting that Kai would find the stretches very difficult, from what she had seen of his abilities, she doubted that he would find many of the classes at the Academy difficult. Kai just needed to be refined, to be taught a little flare and for the bad habits that he had picked up at the arena to be smoothed out. He could keep himself alive, which was a start, but in competitions, it was all about the style of the fight as well as winning. "I have a fitness class next, which is basically running around a track for as long as you can. It's pretty dull, I hate it, but suppose it's necessary." She wrinkled her nose up and sighed, the other students wandering off to their classes now. "Like I said, you can come with me if you want, or I can go ask the teachers what other classes are happening now, and you can choose from those?" She offered with a smile.

He nodded in understanding as she explained about the other balance classes; it made a little more sense to him now at least, about why these set of stretches were pretty easy to him. Everyone needed to do these, so they couldn't be too difficult otherwise the majority of the new students were going to struggle, right. "I see." he murmured, glancing around as the other students dispersed to go to their own lessons, Kai tilting his head as he watched them. He smiled lightly as she spoke to him, thinking for a second before shrugging a little. He could run around a track for as long as they told him to, and it wouldn't tire him out a bit, but he didn't really know much about the rest of the place, or what they could teach him. He wasn't exactly shy, so he didn't care if Pari wasn't necessarily there with him.
"Shall we see what other things are goin' on? As thrilling as running sounds, I do that so often that I don't think it'd do me much good." he shrugged to her, glancing over his shoulder to where the teachers would be, the one who had given them the wooden staffs the day before among them. Without thinking, he began trailing over to them, smiling to Pari lightly. "If you don't mind, that is. I'll stick with you if you want me to, I don't mind." he told her.

Pari wasn't too surprised that he had chosen to see what other classes were on; running around a track for an hour or so wasn't exactly the most thrilling way to spend your morning, and it wouldn't be of much use to him either. Fighting at the Arena would have already built up his endurance, and it was evident from watching him fight that he didn't need to work on his speed. He could run rings around even the fastest runners at the Academy if he wanted. It was more sensible for him to take a different class, and it would be more useful. The Academy was all about finding your own weaknesses and working to improve them, there was no point in pushing something that you already excelled at.
"Of course I don't mind." She smiled to him and shook her head, glad that he was feeling comfortable and confident enough to go on his own. It would be good for him, or so she hoped, being able to mingle with the students on his own. "Just think of me, bored mindless and dying out on the running track while you are having fun." She smirked, moving to follow him as he heaed over towards the teachers. Most of the students had moved off to their lessons now, the teachers exchanging a few words of greeting and of news before they themselves went to their classes. Luckily, Dariyush was nowhere to be seen, probably having stalked off to his class with his friends. Pari found herself hoping that he and Kai wouldn't end up in a class together. The events of last night would be too fresh in both their minds, and she knew her brother well enough, she knew that he would be out for revenge.

Kai actually had to pluck up a lot of courage to be able to step forward and address the teachers himself; years and years of being conditioned into thinking and acting like a slave, albeit an occasionally rebellious and escape-prone one, weren't going to disappear in a day or so. He took a deep breath and forced himself to hold his head high as he moved to the teacher that had handed him the wooden staff yesterday and spoke up, leaving Pari a few feet away. They talked for a good few minutes, and the teacher seemed happy enough; he sounded enthusiastic and light-hearted during the conversation, even if the words they were exchanging weren't so clear. Kai was smiling a little by the time they finished, the half-demon wandering back over to where Pari was, nodding to her lightly.
"He told me what classes to take." he murmured to her softly, "Something about sparring and perfecting style, weapons and other stuff. He said something about one-on-one matches with him as well, but I didn't quite get it. I... think I have to go." he actually looked pretty excitable, whatever the teacher having said to him making him feel a lot more comfortable in the Academy, by the look of it. He hadn't understood the whole classes thing, and he probably wouldn't get his head around it for a while, but as long as he knew what he was doing, it didn't get too hot and he wasn't being forced to get his head kicked in while skidding around the Arena, he had to admit, he was pretty happy with how things were.
"I'll see you later... okay?" he smiled to her; he didn't know how the day was divided up, but he guessed that when the sun got too high he would be seeing her, because it was impossible to fight or do much else when it got like that. Even in the Arena, you didn't fight in the hottest hours of the day. It was suicide for both the fighters and the audience. With a light wave, he wandered off again, the teacher leading him away and offering Pari a brief smile.

Pari hung back as he went to speak with the teachers, deciding that this was probably something that he should do fo himself. He needed to get used to talking to people, it was good for him, it would help him to realise that he wasn't a slave anymore and that he was equal to anyone else here. It would take a while to break a lifetime of habits, but it could be done. They just needed to build Kai's confidence a little, to show him exactly what he could achieve and make him certain of his own abilites. She was confident that he could be happy here, in theory anyway. The only problem was the nobles, all the other students who were stuck in their ways and too closed minded to accept anyone who was a little strange, and it was undeniable that Kai was a little strange. Hopefully they would show him the respect that he deserved, hopefully.
She smiled to him as he came back, amused by how excitable he seemed. It was cute that just talking to the teachers on his own left him like this. "Sounds good to me." She nodded as he explained which classes he would be taking. "I have to say, they do sound like the classes that I would have suggested for you. And we'll have a couple of classes together too." She added, seeming happy about that. Not so that she could keep an eye on him, he didn't really need anyone keeping an eye on him, but so that she had a friend in a class or two. Kinda gave her something to look forward to, in a sad, strange way. She wasn't used to having friends at the academy, not real ones anyway. She had acquaintances, but no real friends.
"I will see you at lunch. I'll meet you in the garden, okay?" She asked before taking a step back. She should be getting to her class too, if she lingered for any longer she would be late, and the teacher would make her do yet more laps around that awful track. "See you later, Kai, have fun." She smiled to him and waved before walking off to head to her class, leaving him to follow the teacher to his own.

"A couple classes? Like what?" he asked curiously - he was looking forward to having a few classes with Pari as well - merely because he was her friend, and he had already had a taster of what she could do. He was keen to see what else she had to offer, she was clearly more talented than she had let on. Silly, humble Pari. The most difficult thing for him, he realised, would be the lack of contact when they fought. In fact, he thought that the teacher he had been speaking with had said that they'd be dealing with that sort of thing in the one-on-one classes, but by that point Kai had been so relieved that he'd managed to talk with the teacher like a person and not like a slave that it had pretty much gone completely over his head. "Okay, see you at lunch." he smiled and waved to her a little as she walked away, his tail wagging lightly as he turned to follow the teacher (who had waited for him) to his first class - of course Kai wouldn't know where he was going at the moment.
The morning passed in a heated blur to him, and it was unsurprising, that when midday and lunch rolled around, Kai was beginning to show signs of fatigue. But you wouldn't know it, to look at him. He had begun his day with the more advanced class which taught him to neaten up his technique - it had involved a gruelling obstacle course where the slightest movement could get you your arm chopped off or your eye poked out. But Kai, on the contrary, had flourished in this - it was pretty enjoyable to him, and unlike the other students of the class, he was in his element. Dariyush may or may not have been in this class, he didn't know, he wasn't really paying much attention to his class-mates. Far from being ridiculed (or he could be being ridiculed, he wasn't listening enough to know or care), he simply concentrated on the class, and the advice he was being given.
Following this was weapons training, and Kai was introduced, for the first time, to a scimitar and throwing knives. Sharp objects? He didn't particularly see the point, what with having his own personal weapons with him at all times, but after an hour or so he was fairly adept with the sword, and he had pretty good aim with throwing knives, even if his interest in these was limited. The half-demon, like the rest of the students, was tiring as lunch arrived, but he hadn't even noticed. He was currently on one of the grassy patches spread throughout the pathways of the Academy, having abandoned his waist-coat - he had completely forgotten that he was meant to be meeting Pari, if truth be told. Or if he did remember, he didn't think that it was lunch time yet.
The teacher he'd spoken with was opposite him, bowing politely; this was the one-on-one class he had been talking about, and he had told Kai specifically not to feel he had to hold anything back. He didn't plan to, whether he was tired or not. The half-demon followed suit, lingering in his offensive stance for a moment or two before flitting forward, the two beginning to fight instantly. The heat was affecting him, obviously, but he was more than used to it by this point, and he was much more hydrated than usual, so even as the sweat beaded on his forehead and chest, Kai felt pretty much on top of the world. Several students had paused to watch as they passed, but it wasn't as though Kai noticed.

"Well, I don't know for sure, but if they give you classes just for the scimitar then it's likely that we'll be together, many general combat too, that's where they give you the sticks and tell you to fight. It's for building style. Um, if they give you archery, I might be in your class, I don't know if you'll get archery though, depends if they want to broaden your skills. We'll just have to wait and see." She smiled to him, nodding as he said that he had to go. "Of course. Go on. Have fun, Kai." She waved to him, smiling to herself for a moment as she watched him go. Kai was so cute when he wanted to be, wasn't he? He was so excitable just from talking to the teacher. Then again, it was probably nice for him to be spoken to like a person rather than like a slave.
Her first class was Hell, as usual. When it came down to running, she could never be a match for the boys. She could sprint, over a short distance she was pretty quick, she could finish amongst the first. But, over long distances, she didn't stand a chance. They were taller than her, with longer legs and longer strides, not that this stopped her. Of course it didn't, she just had to try harder was all. Still, she fell around the middle of the class, which she found quite satisfactory. She could run for almost as long as they could, but she just couldn't cover the same distance that they could.
Then came hand to hand combat, which was as akward as usual. The other's didn't like her being in this class, not one bit, but her father had insisted that it was necessary. They didn't like fighting with girls, not like this. It annoyed her to death. They would go easy on her, pretty much let her win their little fights, just because they were worried that she might break if they touched her. Bah, stupid boys, it wasn't as though she would fall apart just by them looking at her, which you would have thought from the way they treated her. She wasn't quite that fragile, if she was that fragile then she would have shattered when she fell over.
Fatigue was starting to creep in as they were released for lunch, her limbs feeling heavy and clumsy. She needed to rest, to just lounge about in the shade of the garden where it was nice and quiet. She also wanted to practice a little too, however. Nothing difficult, just archery. There was a competition coming up, in class today they would be choosing who got to compete, Pari wanted to make sure that she was chosen.
She had already been to collect her bow and a quiver of arrows, these slung over her shoulder, as well as dinner for herself and Kai, before heading to the garden, pausing on her way as she spotted Kai. He was sparring, with a teacher? Oh, he must have a one on one class. That would be good for him. She pushed her hair back from her face as she wandered over to where they were, moving to flop and sit down at the edge of the grass to watch them as she ate. Kai really was something special when it came to fighting, she wouldn't be surprised if he got chosen to compete in some of the competitions.

Kai was in a world of his own as he fought; he wasn't aware of anyone else watching them, and he hadn't noticed Pari sit down. He was in the Arena again. One opponent. One objective. No outside distractions. Outside distractions got you killed. The teacher had told him not to worry about the no contact rule, they just had to ensure that when they hit it wasn't a killing or injuring blow, just an acknowledgement of the punch or the kick. The half-demon didn't have any problem with that, ducking faster than the eye could see to avoid a perfect kick, before leaping elegantly into the air. The fight went on for a further few minutes before the teacher seemed to realise that it was getting too hot to carry on, eventually holding up his hands so they could stop. Both were out of breath and sweating, although Kai seemed in the worst state, even if his fighting had been impressive and they had been fairly equal in strength.
He fell to one knee, panting, and blinking a few times to try and make the blurred images in front of him focus. He had to sleep for a while, or rest, or lie there and do nothing. It was too hot. The teacher smiled to him, clapping him on the shoulder and helping him up. "Good job. Better than good. Take a break." he told him with a nod, before heading off across the grass to find the other teachers (and have a long rest as well, but he wasn't going to tell any of the other students that). Kai smiled to him faintly, running his fingers through his hair and grabbing his waist-coat as he turned around, seeming surprised to find Pari there. His confusion made it evident that he couldn't figure out how long she had been sitting there or what she had seen, but he smiled none the less, walking over next to her.
"Hey, Pari..." he murmured breathlessly, rubbing the back of his neck. "You ready to go now...? Sorry I was late, I didn't mean to be." he told her lightly, his gaze straying to the garden. "Can we... go and sit down now please?" he pleaded; he looked like he was about to fall over at any second, barely waiting for her to get up before he set off across the grass, his waistcoat still folded over his arm; if anyone thought he was going to wear ANYTHING on his top half when it was this hot then they had another thing coming. He reached the garden in record time, instantly finding a large spot of shade under one of the palm trees, practically collapsing down there and closing his eyes. Oh. He was in Heaven.

Kai had earnt himself a little audience by the end of the fight, most students unable to hide impressed they were. So that was why he had been accepted into the academy. Even Dariyush and his little group of friends had paused to watch, the noble‘s eyebrow raised ever so slightly. He had fought with Kai himself, he had an idea of what he was capable of, but that didn‘t make it any less impressive to watch. He would have to be careful or Kai would soon be better than him, and he couldn‘t allow that to happen. As soon as the fight finished the crowd dispersed, most wandering off to find food or shade to lounge in and chat. After that little demonstration, they would have a lot to chat about, and everyone would want to talk with those who had been in classes with either Pari or Kai, incase anything interesting or out of the ordinary had happened.
Pari was left sat alone by the time Kai moved to walk over to join her, rising to her feet. He looked close to passing out from the heat, she imagined that he would want to go to the garden. “That was quite the fight, Kai.” She commented as she passed him a water skin. The water should still be cool, she had just been and filled them up, so she knew that the water was nice and cool. “Course, we can go to the garden. You look like you need to lay down for a while and cool off.” She murmured, picking up her things and moving to follow him to the garden. They had a couple of hours off now, to allow the hottest part of the day to pass, which should give Kai plenty of time to recover.
She moved to sit by the edge of the pool when they got to the garden, taking her shoes off and rolling her trousers up so that she could dip her feet in the water. “How’d the classes go?” She asked as she put her bow and arrows down beside her, along with their lunch, leaning back on her hands. “Oh, are you hungry? I went and got us a little lunch from the kitchen’s.” She added, smiling as she looked back over her shoulder at him. Kai looked as though he had done alright with his classes, more than alright with his classes. He had one on one lessons with a teacher already, that was a great sign. “Keep fighting like you did just then and you’ll definatly be chosen for the competitions. I think I’d even bet on you winning half of them.”

"Quite a fight, huh...?" he smirked to her, accepting the water skin gratefully, "Is that why everyone was watchin'?" he asked. He was sprawled on the grass under the shade of the tree now, stretching out languidly and eventually sitting up a little to take a long, slow drink from the water skin. He knew better than to try and gulp down the water, that never ended well, but he was still thirsty. The skin was empty within a few minutes, Kai leaning back on his hands to lift his gaze to the leafy tree above him, sweeping his hair back out of his face and smiling as he closed his eyes. Ah. Sitting down never felt so good. It was a weird feeling, being tired but not hurt. He almost felt... healthier. Ah! What was going on? That wasn't right at all! His ears twitched as she spoke, the half-demon shifting to glance across at her and smile a little.
"They were pretty good, yeah." he nodded, "I liked the obstacle course, it was fun. And the swords. Not so much the throwing knives, I couldn't see what they were good for. I could move faster than I could throw those things." he mumbled. "But yeah. Classes were okay." he told her lightly, smiling and turning to flop onto his stomach, resting his head on his arms. "I think I'm hungry, but... I'll eat something a bit later, if that's okay?" he asked softly, closing his eyes and sounding rather far away, as though he was drifting off to sleep. He was silent a few moments later, his breathing deep and even as he fell asleep, oblivious that it was the middle of the day. This was part of his daily routine.
He was dead to the world for about half of their break, waking up almost an hour later and sighing contently. His ears were flicking this way and that at the sound of the rushing water and the birds and the like, and he eventually blinked and glanced around. He smiled vaguely and slowly lifted himself into a sitting position, stretching mightily and glancing around. "Pari...?" he mumbled, his gaze flitting around the garden and Kai shuffling to lean back against the palm tree to let himself wake up properly. He hoped he hadn't slept the rest of the day away, that wouldn't look too good for him.

"Yeah, that is why everyone was watching." She admitted with a smile and a nod. "People have been waiting to see just why you were accepted into the Academy, and you just showed them. You're already evenly matched with the teachers, that's something pretty special, Kai." She explained. From watching the fight it was evident that the teacher hadn't been holding anything back, and the fight could have gone either way. Kai's natural skill was obvious. Yes, his heritage gave him an advantage, but most of it was just pure talent. He was already better than most at the Academy, and Pari would bet that he would be able to hold his own against the Emperors private guard, the most elite fighters in the Xyndi Empire.
"Most people prefer swords. The throwing knives are more stuble." She nodded to him. Personally, she was the opposite. She loved her throwing knives, and was far more adept with those than she was with her katana. The sword felt too heavy, her movements felt slow and clumsy. She supposed that she needed to practice more, to get used to the weight of the thing, but she would always prefer her knives. Afterall, with the knives you would avoid difficult, close combat altogether. One well aimed throw and things could be over before they started. Some called it cheating, she would call it common sense. When it came to life and death, you didn't want to leave anything up to chance.
"Of course it's alright, you can eat later." She smiled to herself as she realised that he was falling to sleep, glancing over her shoulder at him. He generally seemed to sleep through the hottest part of the day, it must be his routine. Then again, he would be exhausted after that fight. Kai was so cute when he slept, wasn't he?
By the time he woke up again Pari had eaten and rested, and was now busy practicing. She had carved a target into the bark of one of the trees, a couple of arrows already stuck into the trunk, all of themin the center ring. A look of concentration rested on her features, the bow held steady, arrow drawn back and her gaze sharp. Without a warning, the arrow was released, whizzing through the air before hitting the trunk with a soft 'thud'. Ha, she got dead center that time, hopefully she would be able to do that again when people were watching.
She blinked and looked around at the sound of Kai's voice, seeming to have forgotten that he was there. "Afternoon, Kai. Sleep well?" She asked with a smile before selecting another arrow from the quiver at her feet, turning back to face her target. "I didn't wake you, did I? If I didn. I'm sorry. I can go somewhere else if you like?"

"Special? Nah, I'm nothin' special." he shook his head to her, smiling faintly as he rested back on the grass. It may have been modesty, Kai didn't seem the type to brag about himself. He wasn't one for words, he was more for actions and letting other people make what they would of him. But then again, this could have been another thing drummed into him by his Master. His Master had been fiercely jealous of Kai right from the get-go, it wouldn't be surprising if he had made a big deal out of telling him, time and time again that although he was a freak and an animal, he was nothing special. "The teacher wasn't tryin' his hardest. He could have fought me better, and probably beaten me." he murmured with a shrug, before settling down to sleep.
He smiled to her as he woke to find her practising, the half demon sitting up just in time to watch her hit the bullseye in the target. He smirked a little. "You've got really great aim." he told her with confidence, nodding to her and stretching mightly. "Nah, you didn't wake me up. I had to wake up now anyway, if I want to eat somethin' before someone makes me jump through some more hoops." he told her playfully, winking at her and shuffling to lean back against the trunk of the palm tree. "You don't need to leave, unless you want to. I'm pretty happy to watch for a while." he murmured to her. He felt a lot better, and a lot cooler after sleeping, as he always did. But he was still finding it strange that he wasn't hurt. Usually at this point in the day he'd be licking his wounds and getting up ready for the second fight of the day.
"How long you been doing that for?" he asked, nodding to the bow and arrows. By her talent and precision, he guessed it must be for the majority of her life, or at least for a fair few years. The arrows shot from the bow as though they were built for her to manipulate. Why didn't she ever show this talent to the teachers or to her father? She was just as good, if not better, than a lot of the students in the Academy. Sure, she might not be as strong and fast as the rest of them, but that wasn't her fault, and her aim was as good as some of the teachers, as far as he knew. He was glancing around for the food she'd left there now, rubbing his eyes and pushing his hair out of his face.
