All eyes followed Kai as he moved over to Pedar Kashani and his little ground, though Pari didn't seem to notice any of them. She was smiling brightly to her friend, an excitable gleam in her eyes. "You were amazing out there." She nodded to him. "I've never seen anyone fight like you do." It was the truth, she had never seen anyone move with the same ease and deadly grace as Kai did when he was in he ring.
"Yes, a congratulation are in order. Though your methods are somewhat... unorthodox." Pedar Kashani smiled to him, nodding his approval. Kai was a little rough around the edges, but the academy would be able to polish him up. "It's a great honour, two of our students in the final fight. Both of my children through to their finals." He gave both Dariyush and Pari rather affectionate smiles before he excused himself to go and talk to the headmaster from the other school.
Dariyush snorted as his father walked away, shaking his head at Kai. "You can keep your luck, you will be the one needing it." He smirked to him rather smugly before moving off to disappear through the crowd, Pari rolling her eyes after him. "He's always been pretty arrogant, sorry. He's just worried really. He's not had much competition in a while, he'll be worried about his reputation."

Kai couldn't keep the grin off his face, especially as Pedar Kashani spoke about congratulations. He laughed quietly; yes, 'unorthodox' was one way of putting his methods, he supposed. Either way, whatever he was doing seemed to be working, so all that was left now was to deliver the same at the finals. He nodded at Pari's father as he moved away to mingle in with the crowd, still smiling. The smile faded somewhat at Dariyush's answer, however.
Rather than take the insult, or reply in expression alone as he usually would, Kai straightened up and retorted. "Oh?" He smiled. "How's that black eye, Dariyush?" He only spoke quietly, but it was obvious that a couple of people close by to them heard him as well. By the way a few of them smiled to themselves, the half-demon assumed so, anyway. He watched Dariyush leave with folded arms, fighting not to smile again. He glanced over his shoulder at Pari as she spoke to him, grinning all over again.
"It's okay. I'll beat him in the finals and then we'll see him fall off his high horse," he assured her. Kai was in a great mood. Hell, his tail was wagging for goodness' sake! "When is the final, anyways? Do I gotta go and sign up, or should I train some more? I've never done nothin' like this before." He shook his head, ears twitching as a bell rang to signal the start of a different category of competitions.

It was nice to see Kai doing so well in the competition, and being excited about it; getting caught up in his excitement was almost easing her own nerves. Almost. She smirked at his retort to her brother, tactfully managing not to actually laugh at him. Kai – 1, Dariyush – 0. It was about time someone came along to knock his confidence down a peg or two; Dariyush’s head was getting so big that he was becoming insufferable. She watched her brother leave through the crowd, waiting until he was gone before she turned her attention back to Kai. “The bigger they are, the harder they fall. He’s going to come back to earth with a bump when he fights you.” She smiled.
The next bell had Pari looking nervous, the girl brushing a stray strand of hair back from her face, her gaze having dropped to the ground. “I…I have to go, Kai. That’s the bell for my final.” She told him, leaning down to pick up the bow that had been leant against her leg. “But you don’t need to sign up, you can go train if you’d like, just don’t use up too much energy. Your’s is the last final of the day, so I can come find you when I’m done and take you along, make sure that you don’t miss it.” She nodded, offering him a weak smile. No, she didn’t think that he’d really want to come and watch her final. Archery wasn’t the most popular of events, most people thought that it was pretty pointless, and….well…she’d never really considered that he’d want to come watch. The mere thought of the crowd had her feeling sick.
“It shouldn’t take long. I’ll see you soon, Kai?”
