"I never said you didn't look nice, did I?" he put in with a grin, rising to his feet now and beginning to climb once more, hoping to get to a larger, flatter ledge before night drew in. That way he could be sure he'd have a good view of what was going on for the whole night; Vyncent may be many things, but trusting definitely wasn't one of them. "And you have made it very clear you're not a doll. Dolls aren't nearly as talkative as you." he laughed to himself.
"...Being hurt does not let you know you're alive. Being hurt lets you know you can die." he called down to her, getting further and further away as they spoke. "But if you really want to see me bleed I'll cut myself when we get to the ledge. Just don't touch me, got it?" he figured that she of all people would realise what personal space meant, and he wasn't letting her (or anyone) near his blood.
Having a demon's blood touch you, just for a moment could enable you to summon the said demon, to evoke them to your presence. And there were very few people with Vyncent's blood on their hands, so he was careful about getting injured.

"You almost said that I didn't look nice." She told him as she hopped to her feet, the bells on her skirt jingling merrily as she moved to clamber up the slope after him, her fingertips running over her cheek to see if it had healed yet. Not quite, the flesh there was still a little sore and she could still feel the scab of the burn there. Almost healed! Almost, almost, almost. Soon she would be able to shift again, which was a comforting thought.
"Being let know that you can die is always a good thing, then you don't get tricked into thinking you're immortal." She nodded, that being an oddly intellectual comment for little Evelyn. See, she did have a logical mind somewhere deep deep down, well hidden by layers of her own madness. "Ugh, I wouldn't ever touch you." She shuddered, as if the mention of it disgusted her, shaking her head. "I just want to see it, thank you." She smiled to him with that oddly cheerful smile again.
"You can see my blood too if you really want." She offered, as if that would make him more likely for him to give in to her request if she did the same. "But I'd need the balm stuff again...to make me heal quick...so I can shift and everything."

"I wouldn't get tricked into thinking I'm immortal. I AM immortal. I'm just far from invincible... at the moment." he murmured, that last comment mostly to himself as he swung up onto a wide, flat ledge which over-looked the entire of the mountain, showing the great ribbon of water below them in its entirety.
"I don't need to see your blood." he wrinkled his nose; other people's blood generally had a habit of leaping onto his white shirt, which would most likely be the cause of yet another tantrum from him. Unbuckling the scabbard from around his waist, he set Amor down next to him as he worked about making a fire to last them through the night, foreign words moving soundlessly from his lips as he whispered the incantation.
Soon a roaring fire was hovering over the rock of its own accord, no wood to be seen. Vyncent seemed satisfied with this, bathed orange with the coming sun-set as he waited for her to arrive, sighing lightly and gazing up at the sky.

"Ohhh good, I would prefer not having to hurt myself again." She nodded to him as she clambered up to join him on the ledge, taking a moment to let her gaze sweep out over the landscape, enjoying the vibrant colouring of the sunset for a moment before clambering further onto the ledge.
Her form began to change as she moved, happening so swiftly it was hard to track the progress of the transformation. Her pupils shifted into those slit like feline ones again, hooked claws extending from her fingertips as her hair receded into a thick, red fur that covered her body, dark stripes of black running through this fur. In seconds the tiger was stepping out of Evelyn's clothing, seeming to purr lightly as it moved to curl by the fire he had created. Her tail swept over the ground behind her contently and slowly, emerald eyes half lidded as her ear twitched, watching the fire.
She was silent though now, as if she found nothing else to talk to him about, for the moment anyway. In fact, she was in the frame of mind to doze beside the fire really, trusting Vyncent, for now anyway.

Vyncent watched her with unhidden interest as she shifted, his gaze curious over the flames between them. He'd never been close enough to a shape-shifter to see one for certain, so this was a new experience even for him. It was magnificent to watch, really, beautiful in a way that his control over the flames could never be. He blinked away his interest after a while, quite disturbed to find that she had caught his attention. Him, the indifferent demon!
Shaking his head, he reached to tug the sleeve of his coat up, revealing his pale wrist and the pattern of veins and arteries that pumped his blood around. Making sure she was still awake before lifting his wrist to his mouth, he allowed one of his sharp fangs to sink into the flesh, a bubble of disturbingly deep red blood springing from the tiny puncture. This flowed freely down his wrist, the colour seeming far too deep to even be real.
"There is your proof. I can bleed." he murmured, showing her his wrist; why he was even doing this he couldn't tell any more, he didn't have to prove anything to this shifter. So why bother? He knew he couldn't answer this question if he wanted to.

She sat up at the scent of his blood laced through the air to her, her gaze glittering with curiosity as she watched his dark blood bubble up from the puncture, the creatures eyes gleaming brightly as she studied the colour of his blood, nose twitching as she memorized the subtle differences in the scent of his blood that made it recognizable from others. Everyone's blood was unique, you just had to look closely enough to notice those differences.
After her long study she nodded her furry head, as if to tell him that was all she wanted, yawning widely so that she flashed her deadly looking ivory fangs. She let her mouth snap shut again, shaking herself off as she rose to nuzzle her clothes over to where she wanted to lay, ruffling them into a sort of nest before she began to shrink, deciding there was no need for such an offensive form right now, opting for her favorite common feline shift as she curled up on the pile of clothing she had made, so close to the fire the heat of it made her fur ripple slightly

He nodded once she'd settled down, wiping the blood from his wrist carefully and rubbing a little of the healing balm onto the wound to close it up instantly. He sighed then, casting his gaze out onto the darkening skyline, crimson eyes gleaming with an unplacable emotion. It was hard to guess what he was thinking, even when you were watching him, he let very little emotion seep through.
He wasn't tired... he didn't often get tired, until he'd lost a lot of energy. But he may as well try to sleep now, since it was getting dark and he'd only get bored and try to kill Evelyn in her sleep if he let himself think along those lines. Moving to lay on his back, arms tucked behind his head he turned his handsome face to the fire, allowing his eyes to close a little, making him look just that tiny bit vulnerable.
* * * * * * * * *
Vyncent's eyes snapped open as the sound of footsteps reached his ears. It was pitch black by now, and quite chilly on the mountain-side, considering how high up they'd managed to get. He knew it was near sun-rise, but how close he couldn't tell, it was still too dark to be very near. Hellish eyes glinting through the blackness, he listened as the footsteps made themselves known again.
The fire had long died down, so the only light was from its little embers, flickering faintly over the stone. In a second the demon had located Amor and slid her from her scabbard, not waiting to see who had snuck upon them before he rose with some unnatural speed, the sword pressed to the intruder's throat and a dangerous growl bubbling up from his throat.

Evelyn was sleeping peacefully in her cat form, having nuzzled into her little bundle of clothes so that she was curled up in them, only her head poking out. The shifty purred rather adorably in her sleep every now and again, as if in response to some dream or another that she would forget as soon as she opened her eyes.
The cat actually showed no signs of having heard anything out of the ordinary, apparently too deeply asleep to hear the approaching footsteps or sense Vyncent's movements. It was his growl, however, that dragged her from her slumber, mind awakening quickly, her senses made alert by the scent of blood.
She sprung out from beneath her clothes, growing as she moved through the air so that she was a fully grown and rather dangerous looking tiger by the time she landed by Vyncent, muscles tensed as if ready to pounce, low and threatening growl escaping her mouth as she tried to work out what was going on.

A laugh broke out through the darkness; not Vyncent's laugh but that of a noble, of several nobles in fact, followed by the more common chuckles of thieves. That was the laugh of authority, and the high demon narrowed his eyes. Amor was still pressed hard against the throat of the only man not laughing, who he recognised as the leader of the thieves he'd disposed of earlier the day before, the one, if he remembered rightly, who had scarpered like the coward he was.
"So you slithered back to Valley Town like a serpent and told them I was here, did you?" Vyncent hissed softly, "I have to commend you for that, but you're just a bigger fool than I assumed." he grinned devilishly.
"Vyncent Schwarz, you are under arrest. As are you, Evelyn Paynter." the leader of the nobles stepped out of the darkness into the limited light of the fire, Vyncent's wanted poster in one hand. All of Evelyn's had faded by now, so there was no picture of her, but they were certain that this was the shape-shifter they were looking for. "Come quietly, and we will not harm you. We'll leave that for the judge to decide." he sneered.
Vyncent actually looked amused at this, rolling his eyes. "Who do you think I am, boy?" he growled at the noble, who looked a number of years older than the demon did. "You think I survived for over a thousand years by letting you people stand in my way?" he laughed, and it was no longer a pleasant sound.

Evelyn seemed taken back by them using her name, especially after so long; she had been starting to think that they had forgotten about her and that soon it would be safe to venture back into towns soon. Obviously she had been wrong. They had come to arrest her? That was a laugh. They had no idea what they were dealing with. She would like to see them take her, they would have to kill her first.
She took a step back, claws dug into the ground to keep her balance, Evelyn keeping the stance as if she were hunting. Her sharp gaze flickered between all of them, ears pricked up and alert, waiting for one of them to attempt to attack first, though she had the inkling that Vyncent would be the first to attack out of all of them. She was still growling threateningly, muscles obviously taught beneath her fur, just waiting...waiting to strike like a true predator.

"You have commited a great offence to the continent of Avalas, and you have the right to remain--" the noble was cut off by the sound of Vyncent sliding Amor across the thief's throat, blood spurting from the wound like a fountain because of how slowly he'd been killed. Vyncent looked livid, wild, and many of the nobles backed away from him in fear.
"You were saying?" Oh, and there went his temper again, the black fire beginning to flicker about his feet as a warning sign. He let the dead thief drop to the ground, blood covered face turned to face the leader of the nobles.
"Get 'im boys!" one of the other thieves roared, and immediately the commotion was too confusing to even be logical. Thieves and nobles had rushed forwards at once, a flash of fire had driven them back and a crack had issued from under the ledge. And Vyncent was gone. At least, he looked gone. The noble leader would know very well that he was still there, from the blade of Amor that was protruding through his chest while all this went on.

She didn't move as Vyncent attacked, nor did she flinch when blood from the demons victims pattered over her fur. Evelyn was waiting for her chance, not wanting to get caught in the fire created by Vyncent, knowing the demon wouldn't think twice about her safety as long as he could murder the thieves.
Her chance came when he disappeared, able to use their attackers confusion to her advantage as she finally released the tension in them and pounced, claws stretched out before her as she elegantly move through the air, deadly teeth bared, thirsty for their blood. She connected with the thief before he could even call out, claws ripping through the flesh of his chest as her weight knocked him from his feet. The man was dead before he hit the ground, the shifter having torn half of his neck off with her teeth.
Her muzzle was coated with blood as she walked over the body, with no respect for the dead at all, stepping on his face, her teeth still dripping with his blood as she began to advance upon the others, taking a twisted pleasure from the look of horror written of their faces. Psht, what had they been expecting, a pussy cat?

"What was that you were saying?" Vyncent whispered in the noble's ear as he began to choke, fire raging in his eyes and that crazy smile on his face. "I have the right to do whatever I like? The right to murder you?" he twisted the blade, his victim's cry like music to his ears. "Yes, that's what I thought you said."
He was being ambushed by other nobles now, not that he realised until they slung something about his neck, by which time the fire had half consumed them. "Mortals. Psh." he snorted, the cracking sound having quickly become a rumble now, small rocks beginning to fall down onto them. The entire ledge was breaking away, by the look of it, and it was going to be a dark, long way down.
Vyncent cursed, only just noticing the destruction that Evelyn was causing. It brought a smile to his lips, he wasn't going to lie - but this was neither the time nor the place to admire one's methods of killing people, not when they were about to go plummeting down into the darkness. And Vyncent couldn't fly. He could levitate when he put his mind to it, but flying was not on his list of abilities. And he would hit the ground like everyone else, too.

A row of bloody and mangled bodied was left where Evelyn had been, a trail of red paw prints leading to her current victim, the one that she seemed to be scratching his eyes out before leaning in closer to his neck. She didn't kill him though, this man was far too hurt to escape, she figured that she would just leave him to bleed to death.
She felt the platform beginning to crumble beneath her paws, stepping further toward the middle, as if searching out more stable ground, though she was unable to find any, it was as if the whole platform was about to collapse, and she couldn't get off the platform because of Vyncents flames.
She shifted into a red crow, fluttering above the platform, circling Vyncent as if trying to work out which form she could take so that she could lift him. She could go back to her human form with wings...but she needed clothes to do that. She needed a large bird form that could carry something his size, even if only a little way.

Vyncent seemed to be quite enjoying what was going on, really, it was like organised chaos as he kicked the body of the dead noble over the side of the ledge, even pausing to watch him disappear into the darkness. Larger rocks were falling now, and those who were still alive were trying desperately to escape; not that it would have made a difference.
He gazed up as Evelyn shifted, a light smile on his face - he obviously assumed she would be leaving now for her own safety. No problem, he'd been alone for a long time and he hadn't expected her to stay for that long (even if that was because he'd expected her to die at his hand, instead) and he turned to face the long way down. Oh, this would be fun.
