Eyes widening, he staggered and (oh boy) ALMOST fell onto his face, catching himself rather gallantly as she stepped over him and straightening up again to rest his eyes, humourless now, on her. "No. Vyncent." he repeated as though this might make her change her mind, cracking his knuckles and shaking away the flames into nothingness, those first little hints of annoyance beginning to show on his face.
He followed to the point of stepping up onto the little bridge, an air of such disgust about him that she might have taken offence, were it not for the glare he was giving the water. That glare could splinter stone, melt ice, even kill if he really wanted it to. And she was in his way now... not good.
"Alright then. Not crazy lady - lady with an unstable mental disposition." he rephrased his answer testily.

She stopped on the bridge as he froze again, snarling once more as she spun around to look up at him, hands on either of the hand rails, defiance in her eyes instead of fear as she looked up at him, though she still seemed all too human. Darn, that pin prick to her finger must be what was preventing her from shifting forms. She should have been more careful with his sword.
"Vyyyyyncnnnncccceeeee." She repeated, purposely drawing the word out, that time as if her aim was to taunt him, adamant that she would not use his full name because of how awkward it felt in her mouth. Plus, the idea of the shortened version of his name annoying him making it seem all the more appealing for her to use.
"Do I need to say it again? I am not crazy, nor am I mentally disfunawhateveryousaid." She huffed to him, narrowing her eyes at him as she remained stood in his way. "You aren't a very nice demon, are you?"

"Well how many demons have you met altogether? Albeit nice ones?" he questioned, his gaze flitting from the water to rest irritably on her again. His hands had clenched slowly into fists while she was talking; he wasn't even particularly angry at her, but with the freezing hell rushing away beneath him and her blocking his only exit, the little patience he had was beginning to wear thin.
Slowly, he unclenched one hand to rest it a little forcefully on the hilt of Amor; no, he didn't really want to lose his temper today, not when the morning had gone so well.
"And fine - but whether you're insane or whether you aren't still leaves me with the problem that you are in my way." he murmured, his voice becoming dangerously soft and his boots creaking along the wood of the little bridge.

She took a step back away from him as she noticed his hand moving to his blade, this followed by a further step away from him as he began to move closer to her. Ugh, he was invading her personal space, didn't he understand that she despised other people being close to her, and if he even thought about touching her again she swore to herself that she would make sure he got some real pain.
"I must admit you are the first, and you aren't making a very good impression." She nodded to him, arching her eyebrow as if she expected that to make him change his attitude, though the subtle shift in the tone of his voice was starting to unnerve her a little. He was plotting something, she could see it in his eyes, an d she had no doubt that it wasn't a nice something either.
"If you ask nicely then I will move." She nodded to him, troublesome hair falling into her face again, though she made no attempt to move it back from her eyes, gaze fixed on him, as if she were just waiting for him to lash out at her. "Why would you want to get to the other side anyway? The other side of the water just leads up to the mountains, what would you want to do up there?"

"Nothing that involves your interruption." he gritted his teeth now, fangs bared involuntarily as the ground around them shook a little, slowly losing control of that fragile temper of his. This was only one of the visible signs, however; the air around him shimmered with the heat he gave off, and his voice held a subtle undertone, as though someone else were speaking at the same time as he was.
Oh, why couldn't she undertand that as soon as he reached the other side of the bridge he would most likely be fine, even if a little more ticked off than he had started out? The longer he was forced to be around the stream though, the more likely it became that the little ribbon of water would become nothing more than a scorch, a scar on the mountainside.
"Nicely?" he grimaced. "Alright. Move. Now. And I might decide to leave without obliterating you." he put to her, handsome face contorted into a deadly scowl.

Evelyn was still backing away from him slowly, as if to escape the heat that was starting to lace through the air around him, her cheeks feeling dangerously hot, putting distance between them just to escape from that heat before she was burnt to a crisp. She had planned on cooking tonight, not becoming the one that was cooked. "Vynnnnce, stop...you're burning me." She complained, not realising that burning her was the whole point. The poor little shifter didn't even realise that he was being like this because he was scared of water.
Her bare foot touched to the soft carpet of grass at the other side of the bridge, hands still on the railings to either side of the wooden structure as she peered up at Vyncent. "Why would you want to obliterate me?" She questioned with a small pout touching to her lips, seeming ever so slightly offended by his comment, her hands moving to sit on her hips. "I never threatened you, that's not playing fair at all." She shook her head at him, turning her back on him.
Vyncent was starting to seem ever so slightly familiar, the faded image of his face weaving through the conscious level of her memory, though she couldn't put the image into any sort of context, maybe it was just a painting that looked like him?

Aaand... that was about when he fell off the wagon. A cylinder of fire lit its way up around him, pushing up towards the sky and demolishing the bridge beneath him; although he stayed suspended in the air, his clothes and hair blown back from him to make him look even more demonic, eyes only slits of red now in the blackness.
However... that seemed to be the only destruction there was going to be. This was a relatively small tantrum after all; most likely spurred on because she'd moved further along the bridge, letting him worry less about the freezing liquid flowing beneath him. He stayed within this little cone of fire, unmoving while the stream on both sides of him steamed up with the heat of it all, drying out relatively quickly and slowing just to a trickle.
"Who ever said anything about playing fair?" Vyncent's voice was entirely doubled now, that harsh growl that had flowed quite freely beneath it becoming more defined... more real. "Now, again. Move." he strode forward, the charred grass beneath the cylinder withering and dying instantly.

Her eyes flew wide, flames dancing in her emerald eyes as she stumbled back away to where the bridge had been, tripping over so she she was on the floor. The flesh on her cheek turned a violent shade of red, bubbling from a burn she had received, but other than that she seemed physically fine. However, there it was, in her eyes, exactly what he had been waiting for, fear. Rather intense fear dancing behind the flames which were reflected in her eyes as the young woman looked up at him.
She seemed smaller now, younger and much more human, her nails dug into the ground. She had never actually felt real fear before; not ever. Fear of her Master had always been translated by her mind into hatred, and fear of anything else just didn't register, yet her fear of him was all too real, and that was what made it all the worse.
Her shape seemed to shimmer for a second, the lines of her figure seeming to blur before becoming solid again. No, she definitely couldn't shift now, in fact, she couldn't even make her muscles move if she told the truth.

He moved softly, slowly, with precise footsteps until he was standing with both feet planted on the withered grass, leering over her like some horrific tormentor. The bridge had completely disintegrated now, and the stream was little more than a tiny lick of water that trundled on its way. He lifted his gaze from her and raised his hand, as though he were going to do something terrible and... pushed a hand through his silvery hair.
His eyes cleared of their dazed, hateful glare, and the cylinder of fire drooped down over him until it was little more than a circle of burning grass, the demon now tugging at his clothes in a rather dignified manner.
"Thank you." he told her calmly, glancing down with the cheerful smile placed once again on his features. It was almost as though he hadn't even realised what he'd done! As if he'd completely blanked out or something. "I hope we don't have to repeat this - I was rather enjoying my day before that happened." he murmured, casting his left hand out for some odd reason.
...Oh! He was offering her his hand to help her up, having completely forgotten her hatred of contact with another person - then again, he wasn't even looking at her now, gaze cast up towards the shadows of the mountains above them.

In her minds eye though, it wasn't Vyncent leaning over her, it was her long dead and mutilated Master, his face blacked out because her memory couldn't fill in all the details. She shrank back away from him as he loomed over her, tensing as he raised his hand, as if she expected a heavy blow to follow such a movement. That same low and rumbling growl began to bubble up from within the depths of her chest again, as if in defiance of him, as if to say she refused to submit; once a slave always haunted, she had found that out more than once.
She flinched as he held his hand out toward her, turning her head away from him as if to make sure that he didn't slap her or punch her in the face. Aww, the poor little shifter was actually trembling ever so slightly as she waited for the blow to land...though it never did come.
A little of the tension left her muscles as she slowly turned her head enough to look at him, eyes rather wide really, as if she were only just realising that it was Vyncent there, not her old Master. "You're not going to hit me?" She asked in a rather small and timid voice, looking up at him as if to say that she had no idea what was happening. She had just defied him, didn't that mean that he would have to punish her?

"Mm?" he let his hand drop, as if he'd just remembered she was there again, moving the same hand to let it rest on his hip lazily. That demon could change moods like the weather, and considering how cheerful he had been before made him possibly doubly so now. He even looked a little merciful, if you caught him at the right angle. Never innocent, no, but a tiny hint of feeling was there if you came across him in the right frame of mind.
"Hit you?" he quirked a brow, puzzled, "I... no, why? Do you want me to?" he asked, glancing at the hand he'd raised rather accusingly, apparently thinking that he'd struck her while pulling his little tantrum. Not that it made any difference to him, after all, he'd done much worse than that in his lifetime.
"Evelyn, you're trembling. Now is not the time to tell me I've frightened you, after I've stopped trying to." he put in rather unhelpfully, finding this situation becoming kind of awkward, really.

"No, no, no." She shook her head swiftly at his question, hair flying about with the vigor that she put into that gesture. The shifter almost fell over herself as she hurried to her feet, backing away from him a little further, the tips of her fingers muddied from digging them into the ground before.
She was still watching him extra carefully, as if she really was unable to understand why punishment hadn't followed her little teasing. He was a noble, she thought that was how the nobility acted...how all nobility acted. She tilted her head at him, the fear in her eyes fading to intrigue as she took a tiny step closer to him, as if to get a close look at him just to see if he were waiting to punish her, waiting until she relaxed before lashing out.
"Am not trembling." She murmured, putting her arms around herself as if in an attempt to control the shivers, looking away from him as she pouted, gaze on the ground. "I wasn't scared of you at all...don't be so silly." She said the words but it was rather clear that she didn't mean a syllable of them.

"Alright then, I won't hit you." he shrugged, checking the tips of his coat and his sleeves and all that, to make sure they hadn't been singed by the flames. They were usually alright, but occasionally they could catch alight and that was nearly as annoying to him as getting dirt on his clothes... or under his nails, now that he turned his attention to her fingertips, checking his own rather contently.
As she stepped closer he took this opportunity to take her in again; she really was rather pretty once you got past the initial shock of her accusing him of wanting to steal a dead bird and all that... and he let this observation of her show as plainly on his face as hers did. It would probably have been quite funny for an outsider to have seen, had they not both been so serious.
"Psht, if you say so." he snorted after straightening back up, the black gemstone on his finger glittering as he reached up to fix his collar. "Anyway, I really do have to be going now. It wasn't all a lie." he reminded himself of this mostly, heading forwards across the grass again.

Evelyn must have caught onto the humor of the situation as they studied each other in such a way as her amusement gleamed in her eyes, outshining the fear until it was gone and forgotten. She even giggled, the sound musical as it slipped out from between her lips, though it was unexpected for their current situation really. Another mood swing for Evelyn, who would have thought anyone could flick between rage and happiness that quickly without getting dizzy.
"I like your ring, can I see it?" She asked after a moment of watching him walk away, as if she had been planning on letting him leave before she found herself tagging along after him, seeming to leave a safe distance between the pair of them. "I wanted my ears piercing, but I wasn't allowed...and now I have no coins." She told him, as if he might actually want to know that for some reason; cheerful Evelyn was back for a little while at least.
"Where are you heading?" She questioned him lightly, just to make conversation. "Up into the mountains? In the cold? Brrr, I went up there and it's not nice." She shivered a little, as if to demonstrate how cold it really was up there, almost as if she were warning him. Bless, Evvie was looking out for him, how sweet.

"Mmhm, you can see it." Vyncent looked over his shoulder at her, while slipping the ring from his finger. Wow... it seemed cheery Vyncent actually got along rather well with cheery Evelyn; it was a shame neither of them seemed to stay that way for very long. "It doesn't do anything. People think it does, that's why I wear it. But don't tell anyone." he tapped his nose secretively while passing the gemstoned ring back to her with a smirk, turning back to the path.
He didn't even seem to mind her tagging along, for now... she made a more interesting thing to look at than the mountainside, at least. "I'm heading to a ledge over-looking the valley and the Great River." he explained, that sordid little glint in his eye returning as he spoke, revealing that he was never entirely sweetness and light, and always had some devilish trick up his sleeve.
"I'm going to cause a landslide." he murmured as they continued along the path, boots crunching amongst the stones merrily. "That will hopefully block the Great River. And flood the valley. And destroy many little villages. Probably a lot of people." he cracked his knuckles, voice flat and guilt-less as he told her all of this.
