Because two pirate ships were really going to be enough to take out the infamous demon and his razor sharp temper, right? Vyncent seemed to be forgetting all about the elementals by this time, turning to Will and smirking faintly. "The pirates. You'll envoke much more fear in them than elementals that don't really know the emotion." he murmured, as if reminding him, before the first of the crew of pirates scrambled aboard. You would think they were more than stupid, really... going upstream on the Great River, when it was more than obvious that there were water elementals lurking under the depths of the water. Idiots.
With only this little snip of conversation with Will and a small, knowing look at Evelyn the demon departed, stepping up next to Gyan to relieve the pirates of their souls, Amor singing awfully in the light, her black blade slick with blood in seconds. Vyncent Schwarz - the biggest paradox ever to grace Syrunn. He supposed that if anyone had bothered to point out that he was killing villains and defending the weakness of the crew he would have changed his mind about fighting, but currently he was ultimately focused on the water elementals. And these pirates were a distraction which needed to be taken care of. That, and he swore to the gods that if they even dared to try and sink their ship he would flame the entire expanse of the river into nothing more than a trickle of water.
The demon glanced across to Gyan as he fought, lifting a silvery brow as the breeze swept his hair back from his face. So, two seconds before he had been the nervous, perfect gentleman, and now he was a monster. Lovely. At least Vyncent was always a monster, just with differing moods. It was as he reached forwards to impale one of the pirates that he first felt the ship shudder and lurch, pausing in what he was doing. He ignored the crackle of electricity from his sword on the wretch in front of him, glancing to his right, towards the side of the ship. Damn those elementals. Clenching his other hand, still charged with lightning, the high demon pulled his sword from the pirate and turned to practically stroll to the side of the ship, eyes narrowed at the water. Come on then, he thought, show yourselves.

ooc; OHMYGODIREPLIEDSORRYIT'SSODREADFUL.
ic; The boy had none of Vyncent’s dark magic, but he could at least make himself appear terrifying, if he needed to. Nodding silent acquiescence to the demons advice, he crouched nimbly on the ship’s encircling rail and launched himself like a lizard into the sky, the height of his leap magnified over and over again by the magic that hung around him like a cloud. He landed nimbly in the crow’s nest of the second pirate ship, which he had pinpointed with subconscious, inhuman accuracy, and with a smooth motion put his hand to the chest of the bewildered pirate he landed in front of. Before the man could draw his cutlass the air had leapt from Thistle’s fingertips, propelling the man three feet backwards – and over the low rail of the crow’s nest to the deck below. Will watched with half-interest as the man fell.
With his crackling green eyes locked on the expanse of black canvas that was the ships mainsail, the beginnings of an idea coming together in his mind. The fey hated fire as a rule – it was the destroyer of their green places, their havens, and Will shared their dislike… but he was not fey, and even though he derived his magic from their sources, fire still leapt to his fingertips with its trademark voracity, desperate to burn and consume. So despite his reluctance, Will jumped from the mast-top perch to crouch against the steep incline of the sail, fire sparkling in his palm and burning a trail in the heavy fabric. He landed lightly on the deck, embers dancing around him and lightning crackling in his hair, ducking around the ankles of fighting men with ease that came from nowhere, offering the occasional shock or burn to anybody who tried to restrict his freedom to roam where he would amongst the chaos, watching with satisfaction from every angle the flaming sail he had created.

Evelyn hummed a cheery tune to herself as she watched the crew members clash with the pirates, smiling faintly as she swung her legs in time with the tune that she was humming. It was doubtful that there would ever be a person that looked so unaffected by being stuck in the middle of a brawl. In fact, she would probably sit and smile if she was sat in the midst of a war. As long as she wasn't personally affected then she generally wasn't bothered, unless she was in the mood for a good fight that was. A good fight always made her feel so much better when she was feeling a bit down, as if it got rid of all her stress.Oh, and she always enjoyed fighting when her and Vynce were playing 'who's the best at killing stuff.' Other than that she was just happy to watch. It was her equivilant of going to the theatre.
She tilted her head to the side as the battle moved steadily closer to her, and eventually fully surrounded her, having lost sight of Vyncent by this point. Hmmm maybe she should-...
Her mind suddenly froze as she felt a rough hand drop onto her shoulder, her gaze darkening instantly. She didn't even think before reaccting, rising to her feet swiftly and grabbing the man's hand, sharply twisting it so that the bone snapped, the man looking just a little bit more than surprised. The girl had been humming to herself a couple of seconds ago was growling at him viciously now...and her claws were dug deep into his throat. Without even a moment's hesitation Evelyn ripped his throat open, ending up painted with blood as she did so, tossing the lump of flesh to the side unceremoniously. Her eyes had thinned to those cat like slits, tufts of fur over the backs of her hands, claws dripping with blood from her lastest victim.
"I don't like being touched." She snarled, watching the man grab at his neck, which wasn't much more than a mangled fountain of blood, as he fell to the ground, writhing in pain. Psht, he shouldn't have touched her, should he? What gave him the right to think that he could come over and...and...and...TOUCH HER? Oh God, she felt sick. Her stomach was tying itself in knots and her skin was crawling, the girl shuddering as she brushed off her shoulder. No, she didn't mind that she was covered in the man's blood, but the fact that his hand had briefly been in contact with her shoulder really seemed to be bothering her.
Well, while Evelyn was busy freaking out about being touched the other pirates seemed rather annoyed with the way that their crew mate had just been...well...murdered...and by a girl! That and a couple of them seemed to have decided that a little bit of revenge was in order and were currenly stalking up behind the little shifter...

The demon's eyes were gleaming as he watched the unsettled waters below them, the dark shapes gliding easily around and beneath the ship, causing the odd lurch and making Vyncent cringe, which looked odd on his face to say the least. Best get this over with quickly. His bloody eyes gleaming and reflecting the fire from Will's fey magic, he lifted his lightning-charged hand and held it, palm up, towards the Great River below. Still reaching over the side (although not too far, of course. He wouldn't want to fall in at any cost), he let the pent up energy loose, a violent crackle of electricity bursting free from his palm to snake down into the water, spanning out for a moment across the river before disappearing as fleetingly as it had come.
For a moment Vyncent didn't think his magic had given any effect; the shapes in the water had... shivered, almost, and fled beneath the ship, but nothing more, and the demon even had time to pause and turn to look for Evelyn. After finding her busy ripping out the throat of some poor soul, he gave a little smirk of satisfaction that she hadn't come to any harm and turned back to the invasion of the pirates, preparing to take down a few of the numbers that were crowding their deck.
Then the ship gave a mighty lurch and was tilted sideways by something with obvious power, the demon skidding on the wooden boards and fighting for his balance while sheathing his Amor, turning to glare at the side of the ship. An elemental had surfaced at last, it seemed, stirred and angry from Vyncent's lightning. Silvery blue in the air and looking almost like a smaller version of a transparent leviathan, the thing shimmered expectantly, seeming wary of intruding onto the boundaries of their vessel, in case of a further electrical attack. The once faint singing of the elementals was nearly deafening now to Vyncent's sensitive ears, and he was dizzied for a few seconds as he righted himself on the deck.
A look of obvious disgust had entered his fiery eyes at the realisation of the water elemental's presence and he moved forwards, fresh lightning crackling at his fingertips. Both the fight on the ship, Will, and Evelyn had been forgotten for the moment - he was playing a dangerous game, being a fire demon up against an elemental of water.

To Will's eyes, the battle seemed to be working itself out. There seemed to be enough people thrashing about their bright pieces of steel on both sides to keep everybody occupied for a few more minutes. Will sat on the rail and kicked his legs, watching the whirling colours and the glitters of red and silver like bloody fireworks in the fray. It surprised him when a man stumbled towards from the mass of bodies with blood dripping down one arm, raising his eyebrows questioningly as he went. Doubtless, thought the more adult part of Will's brain, the poor man thought he was hallucinating. A child with a pale white aura aboard a pirate ship locked in fierce battle? Maybe the man thought he was an angel. Will decided that he rather liked the thought of being an angel.
"What are you doing here?" the man asked, his pupils dilated by the madness of combat. Will leant backwards as he stumbled closer. Will sprung from his sitting position to a standing one on top of the rail, his arms spread out like a gymnasts. "I," he declared, in the grandest voice he could manage, "am an angel." Then he giggled, perhaps at the expression on the man's face. "Only kidding," he said with a grin, and with a leap and a spin his small foot collided with the man's cheek. The boy felt a little guilty afterwards for decieving him like that, but the pirate would have realised he wasn't an angel anyway and then probably tried to kill him. The trick had given him the advantage of surprise.
Deciding that the battle above ground wasn't for him, Will clambered over the edge of the boat, looking for footholds in the side of the sleek corsair. He found, barely a metre below the level of the deck, a hole with a cannon to poke out of, and crawled along the side of a boat like a spider until he found an unoccupied one. He slid like a worm inside, his eyes adjusting to the dimness inside the ship. This part, he decided, was boring - full of cannonballs and cannons and not much else. Just to try it out, he lit one of the fuses, but there was no cannonball nor even any powder in the cannon and so nothing much happened. Dissatisfied, he padded over to the small stairway that descended to the lower level of the ship, careful to avoid the holes in the deck that might expose him to the combat above.
The next level was more like it, lit by a few greasy lanterns. Around the middle of the boat, hammocks had been strung up here and there for the crew, but to the edges stores of food and a drink Will hoped was rum could be seen. He glanced around - all but one of the hammocks was unnocupied. Wandering over, Will inspected with distaste the fat, not altogether clean body that slumbered there. Snatching up a dagger from its conveniet location on the floor beside said hammock, he hacked efficiently through the thick rope holding it to one of the supporting beams. The side with the man's head in it dropped rapidly, and when he didn't open his eyes upon hitting the floor with a crack Will decided he wasn't going to.
Instead, his interest piqued, Will wandered over to the racks of bottles and the intriuging, closed barrels.

The pirates were just about to attack the unsuspecting shifter when the boat gave an almighty shudder and lurched to one side, the pirates caught off balance by the surprise movement, tumbling over, ending up sliding down the deck away from Evelyn. Evvie just about managed to stay on her feet, arms pinwheeling around madly as the deck shifted under her feet, growling at the boat as if to tell it off for such a tricksy and bad. Psht, trying to make her fall over, this boat was conspiring against her. She had to admit, she much prefered their little boat to this big one; she didn't like this big boat at all. Not one little bit. Hmmm, maybe being on the water wasn't quite as fun as she had first thought. Maybe she could understand why Vyncent hated it so much.
A scowl flickered over her features as a strange shadow fell over her, tilting her head as she looked down at the deck. It looked...well...she wasn't sure what it looked like. The shadow was constantly flowing and changing, almost like the reflection on the water but a shadow. Hmmm...what could be causing such an odd shadow? She had never seen anything like that before, maybe it wasn't really a shadow? A few moment's poking at the shadow with the toe of her boot confirmed that it was, in fact, nothing more than a shadow, but that left her just as confused as she had been in the first place.
"Vyyyynce?" She called as she looked back over her shoulder, a blank look of confusion taking over her features as she spotted the water elemental hanging in the air. Oh, well...that explained the shadow. "Um...but...why is the water flying? Water doesn't fly...make it behave!" She pouted up at the elemental, turning to fold her arms over her chest as she looked up at the thing. "Is it...alive or something?"

"This is called a water elemental, Evelyn..." Vyncent's voice was quiet, like velvet as he spoke to the shape-shifter, able to regonise hers among the chaos easily. His eyes were locked on the strange, blue-green orbs that he assumed were the eyes of the creature in front of him, so he didn't turn to look at her; they appeared to be having a kind of mental jousting competition, Vyncent trying to figure out just what the elemental was trying to do, what it was thinking about. Vaguely he seemed to realise he was getting a headache from the shrill 'singing' that flowed through the air around him, the demon slowly stepping forwards towards the thing, as one might when approaching a wild, unpredictable animal with the lightning coarsing and refining itself around his fingertips.
His eyes narrowed as, without warning, he let the electricity loose, throwing up his hands to launch the attack at the elemental, ignoring the piercing pain that assaulted his ears from what he could only think was a scream from the creature, his attention faltering for a second as the magic disappeared from his fingertips. Vyncent let out a harsh curse as he lifted one hand to his head, trying to concentrate beyond the sound and scowling angrily. He glared at the creature, fully intending to wreak his own brand of havoc on it when the anger in his eyes suddenly faded to mild surprise, the demon seeing nothing more than a sudden translucent blur as the elemental swung at him, enraged. The blow caught him very much off guard and pretty much pulled him from the ship into the air, so he was hovering dangerously over the water.
An animalistic growl bubbled up from his throat as he was instantly soaked to the skin, the elemental currently holding him above the water... though he didn't quite know how. He didn't want to question it, however, but he had to admit it was a weird feeling, being held by liquid... a weird, repulsive, disgusting feeling. Vyncent practically gagged as he realised the thing had its watery touch all OVER him, and he suddenly realised the hatred and nausea Evelyn felt when someone laid a hand on her. But of course this was short lived, and soon enough he found himself... well... falling, rather gracefully in fact, towards the depths below. The elemental had flung him away in annoyance, as though he were some minor thing that needed taking care of, and there was a swift splash and a cold, sinking feeling as he disappeared beneath the waves, a few bubbles streaming up but nothing more.
The elemental rounded on the shifter, then, seeming to believe she was next.

Will was unaware of the chaos that was taking place outside, seperated from him by a mere inch or two of wood. His head was filled with a faint buzzing noise, but he had convinced himself that the hold was simply full of flies. He couldn't see the elementals, and so he couldn't hear their haunting, compelling melodies, strung together from the chords of nature and singing with the power of the waves. Instead, Will's mind was occupied with another, perhaps more exciting situation. What to do with all the rum.
His first thought was to drink some. When he finally found a full bottle, he took 'a swig' - that was the word pirates used, wasn't it? - but couldn't help but gag and drop the bottle to the floor. It smashed, and rum spilled like pooling blood around his feet. It was revolting - it tasted like sour and fire and salt all mixed together in a disgusting concoction of evil. Clearly rum wasn't the go, but that didn't mean he couldn't pretend to be a pirate. He took the blue bandanna off the pirate, now unconscious on the floor, and after dipping it rum to clean all the hideous germs off it tied it around his own head. He took the dagger from the floor and stuck it through his string belt - it wasn't a cutlass, but it would do - pranced around, said me'hearties once or twice and felt sad that he didn't have an eyepatch. But then, in retrospect, none of the pirates he's seen aboard did, either, which cheered him up somewhat.
But he still hadn't explored the barrels, daubed alarmingly with a skull in white paint, which stood over in their own corner beside the rum. Leaning against one as hard as he could, he managed to knock one over - the lid shot off and black-grey powder tumbled out all over the ground. Will stared incredulously. Powder? But this was a pirate ship! They should have jewels, or dubloons, or... or, treasure! Unless the powder was the treasure... Giggling, he scooped up handfuls and loaded his pockets full of it. He couldn't carry anywhere near a whole barrel though, so with slight interest he tossed some up in the air, flicking sparks from his fingertips at it whilst perched on a closed barrelful.
The reaction that followed shocked him. The gunpowder exploded, like lots of small fireworks, and Will leant back and laughed, not realising how close he had just come to blowing himself to pieces. But a stray spark had landed in his spilt rum, and flames were creeping along the liquid trail to... the gunpowder! In one of the ships characteristic lurches, the rum had dripped down to the barrels of gunpowder. Even Will could see what was going to happen next.
Grabbing a spare bottle of rum 'just in case', he ran for it. He hurtled up onto deck just in time to catch Vyncent falling into the water, and his mouth curved in an 'o'. Vyncent? Water? Vyncent hated water! But there was no time to ponder that, or the fortissimo blare that raged, pounding, through his mind. He had to find Evelyn! He caught her near the rail, staring at the creatures, and resisting the urge to pull on her wrist shouted at her.
"Evelyn quick we have to get off the ship because downstairs I spilt rumpowder and it's on fire and it's going to blow up so we've got to go!" The words flew from his mouth like bullets from a not-yet-invented machinegun. Without waiting to see if Evelyn understood his garbled message, he sprung from the rail straight to where his heart took him...
... the elemental. Clearly unsuspecting such a random attack, its arms did not move - instead, he plunged straight into what he guessed would be its chest, if it were a human. He spun with a kick of his legs just in time to see his work in action, as a orange-yellow fireball plumed from the bottom left corner of the ship, blowing half of the front section clean away.

The shapeshifter tilted her head at the Elemental, her ear, which had taken the shape of a cat's ear and perched on top of her head seeing as she was sort of...half shifted right now, twitching in response to it's song. She was watching the creature suspiciously as if floated there, suddenly wrinkling her nose up in distaste. "Make it stop singing." She complained, a light hiss to her voice as she pressed her hands over her ears. Her hearing right now was probably just as sensitive as Vyncent's, and the Elemental's shrill song causing a sharp pain in her forehead. It was too loud! The pitch so loud that it was making her feel rather dizzy, dulling the rest of her senses. Ahhh, she dislikes these Elemental things, why couldn't it just be quiet?!?
She jumped a little as the lightening flashed through the air, taking an instinctive step back. This was a fight that she didn't want to be in the middle of. Magic against magic, she would leave them to it. Evelyn had always been more of a brute force person than the type to mess around trying to weave spells and traps. In fact, that seemed to be something that her and the Elemental had in common, didn't it? She winced as it screamed, her eyes widening as she watched it pick Vynce up and...toss him aside. "Oh...dear..." She murmured to herself, emerald gaze tracing after the demon as he soared through the sky, hearing the splash rather than seeing it. Vynce wasn't going to be pleased, not pleased at all.
Her gaze flickered back to the Elemental as she realised that it was staring at her, looking startled suddenly. "Hey! I didn't do anything!" She exclaimed and pointed up at the elemental, growling at it rather threateningly, as if trying to scare it off. It was only water afterall, right?
Wrong.
Evvie didn't pause for a moment as the thing moved toward her, turning to dash for the edge of the boat. Well, it was three times her size and it wasn't as if she could bite it. It would end up drowning her and then she would be rather annoyed. She rather easily dashed between the battling pirates and sailors, seeming to have decided that off the boat was definatly better than on the boat at the moment.
She scolwed as she hopped up onto the railing that edged the deck, was someone shouting her? She let her gaze dance over the deck once, spotting Will as he leapt up and...and...and INTO the monster? This just went from bad to worse. Will was stuck, Vynce was in the river and...could she smell fire? She squeaked as the corner of the ship exploded, the sudden jolt knocking her off balance, the shifter flailing where she was for a moment before tumbling over from the side of the ship.
However, it seemed that at least Evelyn had a little more luck than the other two. With no-one to steer the ship it had drifted into shallower waters, and it seemed that the River had shelves of rock at it's edges rather than gradualy sloping banks, and seeing as cat's always landed on their feet Evvie landed ungracefully in a crouch in the shallows of the water, moving back out of the way of the ship as soon as she landed so that it didn't topple over and crush her. "IDON'TLIKEBOATSANYMORE!" She yelled as she clambered up onto the shore, seeming to be looking around for Vynce.

Vyncent was sinking rather rapidly by this point, the demon having been thrown into deeper waters, his blurred gaze on the rapidly shrinking pool of light above him that was the surface. He was being swept down into the cold, dark depths of the river; the demon couldn't swim, after all, that would generally involve being in contact with the water to begin with! Eventually the stream of bubbles issuing from his nose and mouth began to deteriorate, Vyncent's eyes closing as the water encased him, growing still as he travelled, slower now than before, towards the bottom. It almost looked as though he had surrendered to the power of the river, all the fire in him quenched as he drowned in the watery abyss, the shock to his system too great to overcome.
...Well. Not quite.
His eyes snapped open after a while, an obvious frown on his face as he glared towards the surface, rage stirring in his gaze, fed by some dark inferno within him. A doom-filled smile flickered across his face, and he clenched his fists hard enough so that blood began to seep into the water from the cuts made by his fingernails.
Above, the water had grown still, not even a ripple floating across the surface from the recently departed demon. The elemental, in contrast, was a little alarmed to say the least when Will had plummeted into its chest, thrashing about in its state of disarray, not quite knowing how to rid itself of the pest imbedded inside it. It looked as though it was trying to reach into its own chest when the first of the bubbles reached the surface of the water, momentarily catching its attention. It happened slowly at first, the bubbles shimmering to the surface of their own accord, one at a time... though it wasn't long before others followed, masses of them, the entire surface of the water beginning to steam with the heat of the boiling menace below it.
And then the water... exploded in a tsunami of scorching liquid, the merest hints of black fire visible through it as the demon left the river. He wasn't visible at the moment, the scalding waters evaporating now, consumed by the growing ebon flames which rushed out in a circle, leaving what looked almost like an indentation in the surrounding water. Vyncent was barely visible through the white-hot fire, a tiny figure in the sphere of burning rage, suspended most likely by a hastily casted levitation spell. Two bloody orbs shone in the face of the little figure, fixed currently on the two ships; one of which was burning brightly from Will's gun-powder.
The fire condensed for a moment, before rushing out in a blaze of hungry black flames, incinerating both wood and flesh and bone in seconds. Cinders floated lazily through the air from the ignited ships, heavy black smoke billowing up into the sky from their destruction. As for the elemental, it was doubtful that Vyncent even spared it a thought; the others had most likely already perished from the heat alone.
It only lasted a minute or so, the all-consuming blaze of fury, and soon the waters began to still again, charred remains of the two boats settling calmly on the water's surface, floating lazily among the dead fish. Only the small sphere of black fire remained, encasing the irate demon at its core as if to protect him. Slowly it began to shrink, to extinguish around him, his loping figure appearing now among the flames, still hanging in the air effortlessly. The look in his eyes was bordering on diabolical as he gazed down at the water, Vyncent currently the embodiment of all that was obscene and malignant in the world, indiscriminate in his unholy thirst for blood and destruction.
His gaze lightened then, suddenly, as it moved towards the shore and found Evelyn, searching for a moment for Will, as if purposely expecting them to have lived, even a hint of relief in his eyes as he nodded at the shape-shifter. The fire had completely vanished by this point, an eerie calm falling over the river as the demon sighed. His eyes grew glazed and he swayed for a moment in the air, before dropping swiftly, unconscious even before he hit the water again with a swift splash. A fiend he may be, but if he used it all at once, as in this case, it went as quickly as it came.

Will held his breath as he floated in the elemental's torso, his hair flowing outwards in a halo around his head. He looked as blissful as a chubby baby floating in amniotic fluid, his cheeks puffed out comically as the bubbles slid from his nose to rejoin the air between where he guessed the elemental's shoulderblades would be. It didn't surprise him to find they didn't have any - the creatures were very thoroughly not normal, and it put him off rather. Vaguely he wondered if this was the kind of water that it was okay to breathe in. He sucked in a quick mouthful only to find that his mouth really had filled with water and it was necessary to swallow it quickly and get back to holding his breath. At that, he wondered if it would be possible to drink one's way out of an elemental, but decided that there was altogether too much elemental to drink. Besides which the water had an odd, acrid flavour. He hoped they weren't poisonous.
But (and it was a fact that would definitely surprise some people) there was some method to his madness. Will wasn't altogether stupid, no matter the facade he might project, and he had seen with his own eyes the fire-demon Vyncent Schwarz fall into the water, and he knew that whatever the reaction that might evoke in him it would not be good for those on the water. So he watched and waited, hoping that his plan would work.
He hadn't bargained on Vyncent taking so long to emerge, however, and his brain was rapidly running out of oxygen - a substance it didn't seem to have enough of at the best of times, from Will's behaviour. His face was turning red, he began to get dizzy and with some irritation decided he might as well just pass out now when Vyncent emerged from the water. Will had to hand it to the demon - he knew how to make a scene. He really knew how to make a scene.
Vyncent shot like the water from a comet, wreathed in steam and black fire. Will cocked his head and had begun to feel mildly sad that he didn't have the power necessary to do the same thing (how did one become a demon? he wondered. It had begun to look like an exciting career path, if one could get past all the killing involved) when the fire exploded outwards, and he released the magic that was locked away in a corner of his brain. He felt the familiar-yet-alien pulse of fey enchantment in his veins as it was unleashed, scurrying down his bones and out his fingertips.
He only had a moment to feel the cold as the heart of the elemental turned to ice around him before the heat hit. The elemental had been vaporised instantly, the poor thing, but Will had little room left in his brain for sympathy. His brain was occupied by as much magic as he thought his little body could take without tearing itself apart as he poured cold from his pores. Encased in his instant-icecube, Will was protected by the worst of the blast. By the time his ice had melted he had already been launched out of the blast radius to land in a large, well placed shrub, drenched in lukewarm water, with a muffled oath not entirely appropriate for a boy of his tender age.
With a laugh, he popped his head out from the bush. He had a cut on one cheek from the landing, but with his unnatural luck had found himself hurtling towards the softest position on the shore. Clambering out of the shrubbery with a noise that sounded oddly like 'Nih!', he padded over to Evelyn as Vynce dropped back into the water.
"Is he going to explode again," he whispered behind a hand, "or do we need to get him out? Because I'm a bit worried about getting too close..."

The shapeshifter peered down at the water curiously as it started to bubble and hiss, the warmth that was radiating from it caressing her cheeks. It seemed that she had got out of the water just in time, didn't it? She didn't fancy getting scalded...and it was rather obvious, even to Evelyn, that the water was boiling. She cautiously backed away from the edge of the river, as if she knew what was going to happen next. Well, it was rather obvious what was happening. Vyncent was somewhere in the river and the river was starting to boil, it didn't take very much to work out that the demon was the cause of all this...and that very soon all Hell would break loose. She bit down on her lower lip as he burst up from the river in a flurry of flames, a mixture of fear and relief in her eyes. Vyncent was alive, which was a good thing, but he was crazy mad and looked to have no control at all over what he was doing, which was rather bad. If he had no control over his powers then he wouldn't be able to mind where the fire went, and if he didn't mind where the fire went then it was likely that Evelyn would end up in flames like the rest of the river, and, unlike the demon, she wasn't fire proof end being set alight would hurt... she would imagine. Evelyn couldn't say that she was surprised by the ferocity of Vyncent's reaction, nor could she balme him really. To say that the demon hated water would be putting it lightly, she was pretty sure that he would have made sure that the Great River wasn't anything more than a memory if he had had enough energy. She would have reacted in a similar way if it were someone trying to touch her, so she could honestly say that she understood his reaction. It was a rather good job that the demon could only keep an attack like that up for a limited ammount of time, she doubted that people would be very forgiving if he killed the Great River. They would probably have people following them after their little trip to the Valley Town, but after this all of the bounty hunters would be after them. She scowled as she watched the fire fizzle out around him, gaze trailing after him as he once again dropped down into the river. Stupid demon, why hadn't he moved himself? Now he would have to swim back. She moved to stand by the edge of the water again, coughing through the smoke as she watched the water, waiting for Vyncent to emerge amongst the wreckage from the ships, growing increasingly worried when he didn't appear. She glanced to Will as he appeared at her side, seeming rather surprised to see him, almost having forgotten that he had joined their little group. The look in her eyes asked him where he had appeared from, the shifter having lost track of him after he had ended up suspended inside the elemental, having been more focused on Vycenent's little trantrum. "Why hasn't he come to the top yet?" She asked, turning her attention back to the water, seeming worried now. "He's gonna drown if he's not careful..." She lingered by the edge of the water for a few moment's more before shaking her head. "I'll have to get him." She nodded before looking to Will. "You might wanna step back." She told him as the cat's ears disappearing now, as if she were taking on a whole different form. Most of her shifts were cat like, those being the most comfortable forms to take, and the ones that took the least energy to shift into, but exceptional circumstances called for something a little more daring. Her hair receeded back into her head, replaced by sleek, ruby red scales that formed all over her body. Her nose lengthened into a muzzle, clothes dropping down to the ground at this point to allow the leathery wings to burst free from her shoulder blades, deadly looking spikes forming down over her spine. By this point it was clear to see which form she was taking, and why it was taking her a little longer to take it. She wasn't as well practiced at becoming a dragon as she was as becoming a tiger, the transition less sleek, taking a second or two longer. Plus, there was more to do; dragons were much bigger than tigers afterall. In no time at all she had changed, a huge dragon standing in the place that she had occupied, red scale glimmering in the sunlight as she shook herself off, tail swishing across the ground behind her, splintering the trunk of a tree effortlessly. She turned her head to look at Will, almost seeming to grin at him as she flashed her deadly teeth at him before leaping up into the air, wings spread out to catch her, the light highlighting the thin veins in skin that was stretched between the bones. She rather a sight really, beauty in one of it's most deadly forms, elegantly gliding over the river, circling with her emerald eyes fixed on the water below, as if attempting to locate the demon. Her gaze sharpened as she spotted a dark shape in the water, tucking her wings to her sides as she suddenly dove toward the water. Well, the river was too deep to just pluck him out, so she was just going to have to dive in there and get him. She hit the water with an almighty splash, sending a spray of still warm water up into the air, the spilling out over the banks because of the water that the dragon displaced. However, once she was in the water she slid through it smoothly, now able to pick Vyncent out clearly in the murky depths of the water. Her tail flicked through the water behind her to propel her along, reaching out to carefully grab the demon between her claws before heading for the surface again. She casued as much of a splash leaving the water as she did entering it, the sun catching in the spray of water to form little rainbows around her as she stretched her wings out and took to the sky again, the unconsious Vyncent dangling in the relative safety of her claws. He would be safe as long as she was careful not to drop him...or impail him...or squash him when she landed. She swooped back over to the river bank, landing rather clumsily seeing as she had to try to land on her back feet and not fall on Vyncent, the ground shaking as she hit it, leaving a rather large dent in the grass. Oh well, at least she hadn't landed on Will. Her wings shivered, as if to shake the rest of the water from them, as she gently laid the demon out on the damp grass, lowering her head to nudge him with her nose, as if to tell him that it was ok to wake up now. She sat back when he didn't respond, snorting in annoyance, seeming surprised as a little puff of fire flickered from her nostirls. Hmmm, that was an idea. She leant forward again, seeming to draw in a deep breath before blowing it out softly. At first only smoke billowed out with her breath and a few flickers of fire, but on her fourth attempt she managed to create a steady, if not small, stream of fire, focusing this on Vyncent. Well, he was a fire demon...she figured that fire might help him get better...and if it didn't help him get better it would at least dry him out.

Needless to say, the demon landed with all the grace of a corpse as he was rescued from the water and set back on dry land again, looking, if it was possible, even paler than usual. His silvery hair was strewn across his face haphazardly, a pool of water spreading out around him from his water-logged clothes... well, at least until Evelyn discovered the use of her fire, anyway. It was lucky that Vyncent had previously charmed any garment he owned against all types of flame; it wouldn't do at all if his clothes were reduced to ashes whenever he lost his temper, would it? And considering just how often it happened, it was a good thing, too. He was dried off instantly from the sheer heat of the flames, although he still didn't show any signs of life.
It almost looked as though the demon really had perished in the depths of the Great River, the fire dancing over his form hungrily though unable to consume him, mingling with the black smoke from the wreckage of the ships. But it wasn't long before the heat of Evvie's flames filtered through, a white-hot bolt of heat shooting up his spine and rousing him from his unconscious state. His eyes snapped open and he lurched into a sitting position from the shock alone, before suddenly falling back on one elbow and turning on his side to cough up a copious amount of the Great River onto the shore, fighting the urge to throw up as the water emptied from his lungs. Eventually he managed to take a gasp of air, chest heaving as he sprawled back on the grass, staring dazedly at the sky... well... the dragon.
You would have almost thought Vyncent believed there was an actual dragon hovering over him from the bewildered look on his face; hell, maybe he did, but it didn't take long before he realised he'd seen that scarlet dragon somewhere before, and he relaxed somewhat when his sluggish mind informed him that her name was Evelyn. He sat up slowly again then, passing a hand through his now only slightly damp hair, casting a glance at the Great River. He'd have liked to have gotten to his feet at that point, maybe brushed himself off and smirked arrogantly at the waters, and said that yeah, that was what you got when you messed with Vyncent Schwarz... but it simply wasn't happening. For one he was too weak to even manage a sentence currently, let alone stand up, and (much to his great irritation) he was trembling from the cold, having expended every ounce of heat and fire on the carnage currently floating around them. And then there was the undeniability that what he'd be saying would be a lie.
Not that he wouldn't claim to it anyway, once he'd gotten his strength back, oh God no. But for those who had encountered Vyncent more than once and lived to tell about it (these were admittedly only few) would be able to say that, even when he truly did lose his temper completely and had no control of his actions, there was always some degree of flair, of grandeur or finesse about his destructive nature. No, this incident had been a mixture of rage and blind, mortal panic at the idea of being drowned in the river, of the terrifying weight of the water that pushed in from all sides, choking him in the darkness. And there was no mistaking that the fear in the high-demon's eyes was very human-like as he gazed at the water, ignoring for a moment the presence of Will and Evelyn, his fingers brushing over the neat little half moon cuts on his palms from his formerly clenched fists.
He wouldn't be letting himself panic again, not if he could help it. Vyncent, admittedly, didn't accustom well to those types of emotions, much more practised at instilling them rather than experiencing them. Even the idea of being near the water was replusing, and it chilled him to his very soul; if he had one. It was debatable. But this admission of fear alone disgusted him. However, the look in his eyes had vanished almost as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by a faint frown as he tracked the bits of driftwood and the cinders that floated across the surface of the running water, disappearing downstream for as far as the eye could see.
"...We'll be walking from here on." he muttered eventually, his voice quiet, barely more than a whisper.

ooc;; Am I mistaken? Or do Vyncent and Evelyn no longer hate Will quite so much? I rebel against your long posts with my short one. D:
Jumping out of the way, Will watched excitedly as Evelyn transformed, her form flowing upwards and outwards as her skin changed from pale skin to ruby scales. He felt a little disappointed that Evelyn's main problem (and for Evelyn, that meant a lot) was being touched - he would have liked to reach up to one of the spines that sprouted from her back and clamber on, to fly through the sky on top of a dragon. Of course, Evelyn was too independent for that to work out properly. He would, he decided regretfully, have to go and find his own dragon, though where people got dragons from in the first place he had no idea whatsoever. He'd have to ask somebody some day - maybe Evelyn, considering she seemed to have experience with them.
He felt the spray of water as she disappeared underwater; it reached him momentarily before the wave caused by her dive as it lapped over his ankles. He stood up on his tiptoes to peer at the spot where Evelyn had submerged herself. The mystery was spoiled a bit by the fact that he could see her shadow - he would have liked to imagine her doing battle under the surface with a rogue elemental that had survived Vyncent's armageddon.
Although exciting, from his place within the elemental, Vycent's rage had been utterly terrifying. That, apparently, was what happened when you got Vyncent Schwarz wet, and it was not an experience he was looking to relive, if just because he felt that he wouldn't be living again if it happened. But despite that, he couldn't help but wonder how the demon actually drank water. Everything needed to drink once in a while, didn't it? Even trees drank, through some magical-underground-tentacle-tube system Will didn't pretend to understand. Was the demon an exception? Or did he just destroy a few pirate ships every time he got thirsty?
When Vyncent had been dried out suitably by Evelyn's fire, Will dared approach. Although he didn't look very comfortable, he was at least conscious... a frown flitted across Will's thin lips at his apparent exhaustion before he remembered what was in his right hand.
"Vyncent!" he exclaimed. "Do you need some rum?"

(I am thinking that you are right Flick, they don't seem to hate him all that much, either than or they are just forgetting to hate him right now. =D )
Evelyn's wings fluttered with relief as Vyncent's eyes snapped open, the flames dying down around him, flickering to nothingness as he coughed up the water. Evelyn laid down at this point, tail trailing over the edge of the river bank and into the water, swooshing from side to side slowly as she lowered her head to rest it on the ground as she watched the demon. Silly Vyncent, she would have told him that he shouldn't really have tried drinking the river, but she couldn't talk right now. It was a good job really, a comment like that might ignite his anger once again, though it was doubtful that he would have very much energy left to chase her with, she would probably just get a deadly glare from him and he would save his revenge until he was feeling stronger.
She nudged Vyncent rather affectionatly with her nose, as if to ask him if he was really okay, thin tendrils of smoke still twisting from her nostirls from the fire that she had just been breathing. He really did look rather small when she was in this form, and Will looked even smaller! Almost like ants...no...not quite as tiny as ants, more like mice. Yes, they were mouse sized now, which meant that she had to be extra careful when she moved to make sure that she didn't squish either of them. Squishing them would be bad, she would get rather upset if she squished one of them, maybe a little less so if she squished Will but she would be annoyed none-the-less. Maybe her opinion of Will was starting to change? Who knew, only time would tell, but if he annoyed her again she would just bite him.
Evelyn's look of exhaustion probably matched that of Vyncent's, the dragon yawning widely, her mouth turning into a gaping cavern for a moment before it snapped closed again. Well, shifting into a dragon was an exhausting task in itself, but flying, swimming and breathing fire all added to the ammount of energy that she had used. She held the dragon shape for a moment or two longer, as if letting the fire in her belly settle, before she swiftly began to shrink, scales replaced by soft, if not a little damp, ruby coloured fur. Soon a tiny cat laid in the placed that the dragon had been in, the grass still squashed from the weight that had been laid on it.
She mewed to Vyncent sleepily, as if to voice her agreement with his decision to walk from now on, before she rose to her feet and padded over to her pile of clothes, this looking as though it was taking a great effort. She nuzzled her way into the middle of her clothing before taking her human form, growing into the clothes expertly before she flopped so that she was sat on the grass looking over at Vyncent, pushing her hand back through her hair. "I don't wanna walk yet. I wanna sleep..."
