Flick was a gnome and so it was probably hard for him to determine where the deer's head was clearly; and, with the way the doe appeared, it would be best to make the next move the death blow. Any movement other than that could cost them lunch. She appraised the situation. Within a few quick steps, she would be able to reach it with her sword. During that time she had best be pulling it out, or the deer would get away. She slowly lifted her hand to her hilt, as if to tell Flick she would get it without having to speak.
Victoria dropped the rabbit, rushed forward, and pulled on the hilt of her sword as quickly as she could. It came out of the sheath easily. The doe almost instantly turned her head toward Victoria and hurried to stand. By the time she was turning her head, Victoria had swung the blade into her throat. The swing hadn't been hard enough, so the deer was still alive. Her front knees, however, buckled, and with another swift swing her head was disconnected from the rest of her body.
"Dead," she informed Flick shortly, shoving the now bloody blade back into its sheath. "Good thing it's not too big, I should be able to carry it if you'll take the rabbit." She knelt, one of her knees making a slapping sound as it came into contact with the bloody dirt.

ooc;; Gah! No amount of apologies can make up for my horrific laziness. I offer myself to you in replacement from your almost-certainly-expended patience. Feel free to rip limbs off if you so desire.
ic;; Flick nodded slowly, standing motionless as Victoria slowly made for her sword. It was probably better that she kill at least one of their meals: he'd met folk before who were uncomfortable eating something killed with a weapon they didn't understand. Besides, removing pellets from dead creatures was something Flick hated. There was too much digging around involved.
He lunged forward suddenly as she dropped the rabbit, in an attempt to catch it before it fell, possibly alerting the deer to their presence. Unfortunately, Flick had failed to notice a fallen branch in the dark gloom of the forest, and his first warning of it's presence came only when he was face down in the mud, something that felt disturbingly like a bloody rabbit flopped on the back of his head.
"Dead," Flick heard Victoria say. "Well, that's good, I guess," he murmured back, still on the ground. "And yes, I can hold the rabbit."

ooc;; *gnaws on arm* You're forgiven. xP No, really, we ALL go through... *chomps on leg* ...spots of laziness... *chewmunch* bic;; Victoria let out a strained groan as she lifted the deer and propped it on her shoulder, wrapping one arm around the outside and using the other arm to hold her wrist and ensure that the other didn't give out. It was going to be a long walk back to the campfire. ...Or so she thought. Victor had appeared and seized his opportunity. He had used the element of surprise and the fact that Victoria was struggling to hold up a deer to assault. Victoria felt her insides cringe and she dropped to her knees. The deer fell from her shoulder. "No," she said hoarsely. "Victor... Flick." She wrapped her arms around her own waist, fighting Victor with all she had. But it was too much. He had gotten a headstart, and the dark forest faded away. The scent of blood and the light breeze's whispering fell away from her consciousness. Victor stood and brushed off his clothes. "Sorry about that," he said with a mind-blowing nonchalance. He grabbed the deer and put it on his shoulder with far more ease than Victoria had. "Need a hand?" He walked over to Flick and bent, sticking out a hand. ooc;; VICTOR! YOU EVIL MONKEY.

ooc;; Ahh, thanks so much. Also thanks for leaving two of my limbs intact: I'm not completely disabled this way. ic;; "Gnff," Flick groaned, reaching up to take the rabbit off his neck. "Heavy, eh?" he asked, the eye that wasn't covered in mud on Victoria. "Are you sure you can carry that yourself? I mean, not that I'd be much help or anything, but..." He trailed off lamely. Flick's eye widened when Victoria collapsed, dropping the deer. He began to scramble to his feet in her direction, but stopped as she spoke. Victor? Flick mouthed a silent what as he stopped, falling back. She had begun to... well, change. He tried to focus on her, but his eyes didn't seem to want to, and the effort left his brain spinning. When he finally dragged his eyes back to her, it wasn't Victoria anymore. It was Victor. "Either I've gone insane, Victoria," Flick murmured, "or you just turned into your brother. Oh, Victor? Did you turn into her before, when you disappeared? That would make sense... Well, not really, but more sense than anything else my brain has concocted. Mostly just elvish conspiracies, if you were wondering." His voice had taken on a quiet, dreamy, almost surreal tone. ooc;; Now look! You broke Flick's brain! D:

Snow laughed, but it came out as more of a soft purr due to the lingering effects of changing from her beast form and back. "I guess I could have helped you with that, sorry. My mind is a little distant at the moment." She poked the fire with an already charred stick, causing it to flare once again. After a few moments of silence she decided to speak up. "So...where do you come from? Are you going anywhere in particular?"
I hope I'm not being to sudden...I don't have much experience with communication...
"You don't have to tell me anything...of course." She added as an after thought.
((I do know that regular snow leopards can't purr, but let's just say that demon snow leopards are different.))

"Where am I from?" Lang repeated pensively, again beginning to actively hack at the meat, inadvertantly covering his fingers in gore. "Hm. I've come from Ri Yan. It's a country way over the sea." Lang didn't elaborate. He didn't like telling other people about his dark secret. Best just to stay away. "Right now, I've been trying to find someone out in this forest who can help me with a... problem. Anyway, what about you?" Ryan asked, giving the deer haunch a frustrated jab.

Victor grinned wolfishly. "Victoria has a bad habit of popping up where she's not wanted," he said, ignoring the fact that she was screaming within his mind. Victor, you inconsiderate-- "Long story, actually," he continued. "But yes, I changed." He ran his hand through his hair and let out a slow sigh before again offering it to Flick. "We all have our quirks, mine's turning into a female with an entirely different mind and personality than me." He chuckled a bit. "Heh. 'Course, if females had the same mindsets and personalities as us, then I daresay this world would go straight to Hell, if you believe in all that."

ooc;; It seems I have to apologise before every post, doesn't it? Well, I got swamped by work again, and the start of NaNo threw off my schedule. Sorry! Anyway...
ic;; Flick scrambled to his feet, ineffectually tugging at the mud in his ponytail. Scrunching up one eye, he ran his open one over Victor. He certainly looked male, that was for sure. His hair... Flick paused for a moment before it hit him. The streaks were almost exactly the same as Victoria's had been. Why hadn't he noticed that before? It seemed so obvious. Was there anything else about the man he had missed? "Oh!" he exclaimed suddenly, reaching up for the goggles strapped around his head. "Do you have some kind of magical aura? I mean, oh... Nevermind," he muttered sheepishly, trying to scoop some of the muck out of the more fiddly parts of the apparatus. "So, you're not joking? This isn't some kind of illusionist's prank? Which one of you came first? Can the one of you who's... dormant, I guess, experience what the other is?"

"Me? Just trying to track some people down." She said vaugly. Snow was afraid that if she were to go into detail, unwanted tears would fall. She sighed, watching Lang tear at the meat, then turned her gaze into the fire. Her eyes reflected the dancing flames, and she was soon caught almost in a trance. Her memories came swimming back to her, but were cut off when she shook her head in frustration. Not now. She thought, letting out a small growl.
((Short, I know. Don't bite my head off, take Ayumi. *drags friend in front*))

"I was the first," Victor lied smoothly. He'd gotten so good at it over the years. Or maybe he really thought that he was the first to come, perhaps he had convinced himself. "No, this is no illusion. The dormant one isn't always necessarily dormant. Sometimes she is awake and I can feel her sifting through my thoughts, experiencing the same things, but most of the time she just rests until she can take over again." He shrugged nonchalantly. Victoria was still screaming inside his head. "Women, can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em, eh?" He grinned. His rugged look certainly made him appear to be the older brother. He adjusted the deer on his shoulder.

ooc;; School camp came up unexpectedly - that's what I get for not having a calendar - and Mum wouldn't let me get on to tell you all the night before... I'm really sorry.
ic;; "You're the first? Victoria mustn't like that very much... How did she come into being, then? I've never heard of anybody quite like you two before." Flick chewed the inside of his cheek thoughtfully. "So, were you... there, I guess, when I was talking to Victoria? Or were you dormant? And is Victoria there now?" Flick grinned excitedly. This was fascinating. "Trust me, I know what you mean." He rolled his eyes, one particular elven lass coming to mind.

ooc;; It's okay, Flick! I'm guilty as well. I've been so caught up that I didn't even realize this had been replied to the few times I was on. My apologies! =[
bic;; Victor laughed. "No, she doesn't like it at all," Victor replied. Now that, that wasn't a lie in the least. She was a persistent one... Still tearing at her mind with her brain-rattling shrieks. "I flashed in and out. Victoria doesn't like telling many people about our little condition. You know women, always too self-conscious. Plus, she's not a very good liar, so making me look like the pest is hard for her. She knows she's the infestation, not me." He shrugged. "Anyway, best get this back to the campfire, right?" He started walking, shaking his hair out of his face as he went.

Flick gave a short laugh. He was glad he didn't have an irate female alter-ego rattling around inside his brain. If that were the case, he probably would of taken a rock to his skull long ago. He wondered how Victor dealt with it. He was about to open his mouth, but decided against it. That sort of question - when combined with the casual, off-hand manner that some took for rudeness but that Flick could never seem to shake - might not be appreciated. Poor guy, Flick thought. "Yeah, that'd probably be best," Flick agreed. "I wonder how the boy's getting on with the leopard girl?" [[THIS IS A NOT SO SUBTLE HINT THAT IF YOU WANT TO HAVE DONE ANYTHING IN THE WHILE VICTOR(IA) AND FLICK HAVE BEEN AWAY, YOU SHOULD START TO POST QUICKLY.]]

Victoria seemed to tire of her futile protests and sank into the oblivion of what should have been her own body. Victor let out a small sigh of relief.
"Well, hopefully nothing else in this forest got hungry," Victor commented. "It's strange that we all came together like this. I've never ran into anyone else in this forest in the times I've been here before." He itched his chin for a moment before shifting the deer's weight again. "It's a dangerous place. Quite the coincidence, if you ask me." He looked thoughtful as he walked.
ooc;; OMGOSH WE'RE GETTING CLOSER! POST POST. xD

ooc;; BWAHAHA IT'S ALL A SECRET PLOT BETWEEN ME AND CHANI NOT TO LET YOU POST TILL WE GET THERE. HEH HEH HEH. Also - I think this has been the fastest three posts this thread has experienced. ic;; Flick nodded. He had been thinking the same back in the clearing, until the the disappearance of Victor had banished the thought in a whirlwind of suspicion and, eventually, grudging respect for his pseudo-sister. It took Victor's recent comment to pull the thought back to his mind. "I've been thinking the same thing," he lied casually. "I've never really been here before - maybe once, on the outskirts, I think - but I wouldn't have expected this many people... It's not a very hospitable forest, is it?" He flicked the rabbit over the other shoulder as he paused for thought. He was grateful that Victor was carrying the deer. Even if he'd been dragging the beast, he wasn't sure he would have made it back to the campsite before morning. "Do you suppose there's a reason for it?" [[ Potential plot twist?]]
