Lang had been on the verge of making a comment about how Victoria and Victor slung their swords the same way on their belts, and the solid piercing look they both shared in their eyes, and several other small things, but Flick beat him to it, and in the fiery exchange that followed, the young boy suddenly felt himself overcome with tiredness, and dozed off accordingly.
A resounding crack! split the night air some time later. Lang woke up with a start and promptly fell off the log he'd been sitting on, landing clumsily in the dirt. "Just my luck." he groaned, sitting up and taking a quick peek upwards at the moon; glowing ominously brightly. He shivered, and turned his eyes back to the deserted campfire. "Hey... where is everyone?" Lang whispered, in a slightly high-pitched voice. Silence. Then all of a sudden...
Scritch. Scratch. Scritch.
Slow scraping sounds, of something large pulling itself through the undergrowth. Lang sat frozen in fear, staring into the dark part of the woods and waiting... until a large snow leopard with very familiar markings stumbled into the scene. Lang still sat frozen; snow leopards didn't usually inhabit forests, but you could never be too sure. At any rate, he'd stopped holding his breath. "You're Snow... right?" Lang asked timidly.

ooc;; You're welcome to continue RPing, Valter! =) The RP hasn't progressed much where your character is placed, so dear Lang is still in as far as I'm concerned. ^_^
ic;; Victoria laughed. Flick wasn't the enemy anymore. Even her stubborn nature couldn't deny a chuckle, nor the fact that she was getting along with him.
"Yes, of course!" she replied. "What are female relatives good for otherwise?" She snickered. "And no," she continued with a giggle. "I'm sure gnomes have their fair share of idiots, and I'm sure humans have a great deal more, but you're far from an idiot. This rabbit, however," she again looked at the animal under her arm, "is either new around here or missing half his brain." She walked alongside him.

ooc;; Yeah, feel free to stay. Nobody's really been doing much about the campsite lately.
ic;; "Oh, I know," Flick said seriously. "I have more than my share of female relatives. Sisters and cousins and aunts and nieces and all kinds of various and sultry almost-family-members. You should here the way they go off at me whenever I head back home! Think I'm gallivanting about the countryside with some poor girl, I suppose." He laughed. "I'm not into romance on the whole, though. Far too complicated and messy for me."
With a grin, Flick took the rabbit from Victoria. Lifting up an ear, he made a mock display of looking inside its head. "Wow, you're good! Talk about speedy diagnosis - it is missing half his brain!"
"So, where do you come from?" he asked her. "Got any family asides Victor?"

ooc;; OOPS! Sorry, Flick. Forgot to answer your question. I read it and was going to, but it just slipped my mind. Victor is like an entity within Victoria's soul when he is not in form. He slumbers most of the time and comes out when Victoria is sleepy and her defenses are down, so that he can't be kept in. Every now and then, however, he wakes up and floats about in her. At those times, he can read her surfaced thoughts, which are the things she's seeing and hearing. He can also feel any strong emotions she's going through at those times.
bic;; Victoria laughed as Flick mock-inspected the rabbit's brain. Her eyes darkened a bit when he asked her about her home and family.
"A rural village near here," she replied quietly. "Yes and no on the second question." She peered into the darkness around her, not wanting the hurt on her face to show. "I have some family, but they've forgotten me. And I've forgotten them. So, I guess it's sort of like I never did." She turned back to Flick, shrugging off the pain and plastering on a smile. "Makes traveling a lot easier. Don't have a home that I'm expected to go back to."

ooc;; Hehehe, that's cool. Thanks!
ic;; Flick stiffened awkwardly at her reaction. "Oh," he said inadequately. "Sorry about that." They walked on in silence for a few minutes, Flick biting his lip in embarrassment. "Umm," he began, trying to break the silence, "where have you travelled to lately? Anywhere interesting?"
ooc;; Sorry for the severe lack of quality or quantity - my brain's a bit dead.

ooc;; We all get that sometimes. xDD
bic;; Victoria shrugged. "It's no big deal," she lied. "And no, even without a home, I never stray too far from this place. But I'd like to see Eria some day. I'm saving up." She grinned.
In Eria, there were elves. Elves knew magic. Maybe she could rid herself of Victor.
"It's a pricey trip, though," she continued. "And an even pricier stay, I hear. What about you?" She looked up from the tracks and at Flick.

ooc;; What nasty, unpleasant, cruel thoughts Victoria is having! I'm shocked.
Flick grinned. It seemed the moment of awkwardness was behind them. "Yeah, Eria sounds good," he enthused. "I doubt I'll ever get to visit properly. I've travelled through the outskirts, but I'd really love to see Aluen. Apparently it's made of entirely of crystal! Though, the elves have a tendency to exaggerate their achievements..." Well, one elf he knew. Though she had a tendency to exaggerate everything, including the amount of money he'd stolen from her (and it wasn't his fault she was so annoying!). It was due to her that he'd probably have difficulty travelling to Eria. A small smile lit his face at the thought.
"Well, where have I been..." Flick paused for a moment. "Well, it might sound surprising, but I found the Basque Plains to be remarkably beautiful. It's just a farming area, but there are small pockets of trees everwhere, and these wonderful cottages: it's really quite picturesque."

ooc;; I know! She's simply impish. And what of Flick's thieving the elven girl, eh? XD
bic;; "The Basque Plains?" Victoria inquired. She had never in her life heard of them. She had heard that Aluen was made entirely of crystal, though. The thought excited her and made her long for Eria even more. "I've never heard of it." She had never went to school. Her father didn't think that women should. She hoped that the Basque Plains weren't a famous area; she didn't much like sounding like an idiot.
Victor stirred within Victoria's soul; she felt him shifting about and going through her thoughts. "What're you doing up there?" his voice rang in her head. "I'm living MY life," she thought back silently, showing no outward sign of what was going on in her mind. "Go away, Victor!" "Ahh, you're hunting," Victor said cheerily. "Good. The boy looked quite starved." Victoria struggled to keep her intentions of going to Eria and ridding herself of Victor hidden from him; that was the only thought she had been able to hide from Victor no matter how fervently she wanted it. He knew that she wished to go to Eria, and he had no problems with that, but if he knew why... He could make things very difficult for her.

ooc;; Huh! You can't blame him for that! Well, I guess you can, but... Anyway, sorry you've had to wait so long. I've been having issues with schoolwork and stuff, and haven't had much spare time.
ic;; "Ah, that's okay," Flick replied with a quick grin. "They're not really a popular location. They take up a sizeable chunk of Märmosia, but it's mostly just farmlands. I just have strange taste in scenery," he laughed, rolling his eyes. Not just scenery, a quiet voice in his head pointed out impishly, but he quelled it ruthlessly.
There was a strange silence, and although Victoria seemed to be acting normally, Flick noticed a depth of concentration there that was unnatural in the light atmosphere of the conversation. "What are you thinking about?" he asked her curiously.

ooc;; It's no problem. ^.^ I remember schoolwork and the time it once consumed... *shudder*
bic;; Victoria seemed to snap back to reality. "Oh, nothing," she said quickly. "Traveling to Eria, mostly." What Flick had said while she had been hassling with Victor registered now that Victor had fell back from assaulting her thoughts. He was still there, but now he was just listening and watching instead of digging up what had happened over the past hours. She let out a long sigh as she felt Victor recede into dormancy. "Life would be so much easier..." She wished she could spill her guts. It was the main reason she didn't talk about Victor if she could help it. She hated the feeling of needing to tell someone, anyone, her obnoxious secret. 'Course, they would only think her either insane or very strange and probably flee. She also feared saying what she wanted to do in Eria aloud, even if she couldn't feel Victor's presence.

Life would be so much easier... Flick pondered the statement for a moment. What did that have to do with Eria? Bad with feelings as he was, Flick had realised there were things she wasn't telling him - he was perceptive enough to see that, at least - but would it be rude to ask? Flick took less than a second working that one out. Since when had he ever been bothered by being rude? Besides, his curiosity consistently got the better of him. "How... would life be easier?" he asked tentatively.

Snow dropped her catch in front of the near burned out campfire, licking her mouth free of the blood. She nodded to Lang and backed up, morphing back into her human from once again. "You can eat if you want, I'm not really hungry. I just needed to get away for a bit." She said without a proper greeting. I don't know how much longer I can stay here. That scent...it's getting stronger. She thought, rekindling the fire. It burst into life in a large flare, then promptly slowed down into a controlled, timid state. Snow stared into the flames, uncomfortable with the silence that stretched between her and Lang.

Victoria frowned, feeling a little angry with herself for having let the slip, but just shrugged and let her face relax. "No reason in particular," she lied. Realizing how bad at it she was, she corrected herself as to avoid another argument with the shrewd gnome: "If I could tell you, I would." She stopped abruptly and rose a pointer finger to her mouth. She mouthed the word "deer" at Flick, unsure of whether or not he could see her that clearly in the dark night, and pointed at a bush a couple yards in front of them. Just beyond it by a few feet, there was a doe lying down and sleeping. Well, it had been. Now its head was up and its ears were perked; it was peering about fearfully, waiting for another sign that it should run.

"Phew!" Lang said, breathing a sigh of relief. "I thought you were gonna eat me for a second there," said the boy, chuckling nervously as he stepped hungrily towards the deer, taking care not to look at its eyes. He'd seen dead things plenty of times before, but it was still unpleasant. It helped not to look at the eyes.
Lang scavanged around for some tools he could use to cut a piece of deer haunch and came up with a sharp stone and a thick stick, and went to work in silence, trying to work the jagged edge of the stone through the deerskin. After five minutes, Lang sat back with a huff. This dead deer had him beat. "Heh, if only I had a pair of claws or something, this might be a little easier." Lang joked lightly.

Flick nodded. Most people had secrets like that - he knew he did. And, for the few minutes of pleasurable conversation, the gnome decided he owed it to her not to ask, as much as it went against his nature. He felt some degree of friendly affection toward Victoria, and if that had disappeared within ten minutes, he would have broken his previous record. Those weren't the best sort of records to break, Flick thought, giving an invisible half-smile in the dark.
He froze as she gestured to him, nodding once more. He hadn't caught the word, but he could see the deer now that she'd brought his attention to it. He held his arms up in a questioning gesture, pointing to Victoria once and then toward himself. Will you, or will I?
