ooc;; Quick note: if you want to role play, you might want to take a brief overview of my character's description first, or you might get confused later on.
ic;; Victor brushed his hands together and looked fondly at the campfire he had started. It was small, but he had collected only branches that had fallen and were of no more use to the trees surrounding him. He slumped into the grass, propping his back up against a tree and staring into the flames idly. Being a social person, he wished Victoria would take over. He hated the quiet emptiness of the forest. The chirping of crickets, light breeze rustling the foliage above, and crackling of the fire was all that was comforting him.
"Wish I hadn't finished off the ale in my flask yesterday," he mumbled bitterly, poking at the fire with a stick.

ooc;; Hope you don't mind if I jump in. I assumed it was at least dusk - if this is wrong, please correct me.
ic;; Forests, Flick had discovered, had far too many branches in them. He scowled viciously as he tugged yet another twig from his black hair, critically inspecting the few strands that had come away with it. His hair wasn't the only thing getting caught in the surrounding foliage, either. His goggles, the straps of his harness, his clothing - you name it, there was something in the forest that had grabbed at it.
The darkness was pressing in now too, and Flick's legs were protesting painfully to his extended trek. He could smell smoke in the air, though - a house, perhaps? - and didn't want to stop so close to civilisation, if indeed he was.
A few more minutes, though, and it became civilisation wasn't as close as he'd thought. The flickering quality to the light, the wooden smell of the smoke, the blatant lack of houses - it became quite apparent that Flick had just wandered upon somebody's campsite.
"Oh well," he murmured quietly to himself. "Company's always appreciated, I suppose."
Flick stepped quietly into the orb of light cast by the fire, glancing around. A man, handsome in a rugged kind of way, rested against a tree, lazily prodding the spluttering fire. Flick, realising his hair had come loose around his face, brushed it back, gave a perfunctory nod and spoke.
"Err, hi. Mind if I join you?"

ooc;; Yes, it has just passed into nightfall. I should have specified, I usually do, I apologize. =)
ic;; Victor looked up at the gnome. "Company would be much appreciated," he responded. "Pull up a bit of grass." He grinned toothily and tossed the stick aside. "It's not safe to travel through here by night." He unstrapped his belt, attached to his sheathed broadsword, and sat it alongside him so he could get more comfortable. Being the social personality, he found that he was pleased to have someone to join him. Not only that, but this place gives me the creeps, he thought silently.

ooc;; No problem :3
ic;; Flick gave a charismatic smile and slid gratefully to his feet. He let out a sigh of relief and stretched his legs out towards the campfire. Enveloped in the light and warmth of the small campfire, the cold shadows of the forest seemed a world away.
"Ahh, thanks," he murmured with relief. "I can't tell you how glad I am to get out of that forest - I could swear something's been following me for the last mile or so. D'you know what sort of creatures live here?" he asked casually, slipping his rucksack onto the grass beside him.
Flick took a swig from a small, opaque glass bottle and paused for a while before speaking again. He loved the sensation that emerged as the fiery liquid slid down his throat too much to interrupt it with speech.
"Want some?" he asked, offering the flask. "My name's Flick, by the way. How about you?"

"Sure! Thanks," Victor accepted, receiving the bottle. "I'm Victor, Victor Lee Mitchell. Nice to meet you, Flick." He took a hand in his and shook it firmly before taking a small drink. He returned the bottle and smiled politely. "And no, I'm not sure that there's many people in the world that are sure exactly what roams in these shadows at night." He shrugged. "You hear some pretty gruesome old wives' tails, though." He grinned. "But that's just about anywhere you go." The strange noises and sounds mixed with the darkness created a chilling effect, but at least there was a warm campfire and another adventurer here. "From where do you hail, Flick?"

"Nice to meet you, Victor," Flick said, resting his head against his pack. He laughed. "Yeah, those 'old wives' can think up some pretty nasty stuff. Can you fight at all? The light tends to keep most beasts away at night, but you never know, yeah?"
The gnome rolled onto his side, facing away from the fire. There was a moment of silence before he spoke again. "I come from everywhere. I don't really have a home, y'know? Just travelling. Besides," Flick added with a roguish grin, "the world's too small to sit in one place. All that stuff out there to experience..." He trailed off.
"But how about you? Where do you call home?"

Snow had fallen asleep in a giant oak in to forest of Aorin. How she got up the tree was a blur, the days events had taken a toll on her. She had finally tracked down one of the rouges who had killed her family, but he was of no use execept for his scent. Now she had an even stronger idea of who it was, but still not enough to satify her.
Her sleep was filled with troubled dreams of fire and monsterous shadows, so it was no wonder that she awoke with a gasp, nearly falling off of the tree in the process of snapping her mouth shut. Now she was certain that she had two teeth shaped puncture wounds in her tounge from her fangs. She let out a silent sigh.
Then she looked down and saw the campfire. Once again her dreams came back to her; this time in reality. She jumped down, panicing at the thought that an uncontrolled fire raged in the forest. Snow jumped down and landed neatly on her feet, tail sticking up as straight as it could. Then she relaxed, Good, someone has it tamed. She thought, looking at the gnome and human. Now what? Demons were not usually accepted in area's like this; she was like a deer in headlights now.

"Home," Victor said, turning up the corners of his mouth slightly. "Funny word, isn't it? I suppose I'm like you. Everywhere and nowhere are home to me." He pondered himself, as he oftimes did. He hadn't been born to loving parents, he had been forged through magic gone wrong. "But yes, I can fight." Arrogance got the better of him. "Quite well, if it's not too boastful." He heard a soft thud, as if something had landed on the grassy forest ground. His head snapped to the side and he caught sight of Snow, though her image was hard to see. His eyes were adjusting from the firelight to the darkness beyond, but he definitely saw a human figure. He was standing, his hand on the hilt of his broadsword. "Who goes...?" He stopped short. It was a female, his eyes finally discerned. "Oh, hello miss," he said, with less suspicion in his voice. If Victoria had been there, she would have snorted in disgust. "Sorry if I frightened you..." He was loosening the grip on his blade, but he noticed her tail. He gripped it again, observing her quietly. He decided not to say anymore, to see what she said and wait alertly for her to move.

Snow's appearance shocked Flick out of his reverie and his hand flew instinctively to his pistols. One of the weapons was already pointed at her when he realised she didn't pose an immediate threat and he lowered it somewhat sheepishly. Nonetheless, he didn't slot it back into its holster.
"And who might you be?"
His voice was polite, but it had a dangerous edge to it. From Flick's experience, being surprised by strangers in a forest at night rarely turned out well. "Sorry," he added as an afterthought.

"My name is Kathyrn Elincia Rydell, but you may call me Snow if you wish." She answered, readying her body for a fight. She noticed that the human had a grip on his sword, so she wanted to be ready for anything. She followed their gazes to her tail.
"Yes, I am a snow leopard demon, but I mean you no harm." She sighed. She was about to go against her personality and walk away, but this was not the time for that. She needed a rest. "Do you mind if I join you here?" She asked, the words nearly choked out of her.

Lang walked blindly through the darkness of the forest, stumbling every so often on bushes and roots that he was certain someone had put in his way merely for the purpose of bringing him hardship. His white hair had snagged in the scraggly branches a number of times, and he looked thoroughly disheveled. In fact, the only stroke of good luck he'd had today was that the lethal animals in the forest seemed to be avoiding him. He'd run into a massive spider just a bit back, and the creature took one glance at him and scurried rapidly away. He couldn't exactly place it, but it might have something to do with the full moon next week.
That was the reason why he'd gone into the forest. With the full moon approaching, he thought it best to isolate himself from all humanity, although... grumble... Lang clutched his stomach. "Not one of my best ideas..." he muttered meekly to himself. At this point, he'd do anything for a hot meal and a warm bed.
And that was why he was so excited when he saw the yellow glow from between the trees. He instantly bounded straight for it, turning aside the undergrowth in his haste for the campfire. Unfortunately, one particular vine didn't seem to want to be pushed away, and instead entwined itself around his leg, causing the raggy 9-year-old to trip and tumble with an "Oof!" into the subtly tense scene.

"If you mean us no harm, then you may stay," Victor said, trying to smile politely. "Well, I'd best go hunt down something...." He jumped and whipped his sword out of its sheath swiftly as there was another ruckus. What now? he asked himself. He didn't find anything but first, then he noticed a young boy lying on the ground with his leg wrapped in a vine. He stared at the child for a long moment, waiting for a mother (perhaps a beautiful one) to come out behind him. No parents of any kind came, however, so he stepped forth and untangled the boy's leg. "Where are your parents?" he asked, slightly unnerved at a young boy traveling alone in this dangerous forest.

Flick nodded slowly. "Right, Snow it is. I'm Flick - it's nice to meet you." Sliding the pistol away, he offered the demon his hand. Despite the apparent warmth of his welcome, Flick glanced nervously at her teeth, and his other hand hovered cautiously by his waist. Any chance of response, however, was eliminated by the appearance of a fourth traveller on the scene.
Maybe it was the sinister atmosphere of the forest. Flick certainly liked to hope it was the forest, or he might be forced to admit that he wasn't cut out for the adventuring line of work. Whatever it was, this sudden arrival shocked him even more than the first one had. He was on his feet in a second, ready for any potential danger.
Yet it appeared danger wasn't a concern - if anything, Flick had to stop himself from laughing. A child (was it? Flick wasn't too sure how to gauge the ages of Men) had come crashing into the clearing, one of his legs tangled in a vine. It seemed this corner of the forest was a busy place for travellers at the moment.
"Another one?" exclaimed Flick loudly. "It is polite to say hello before you lie down by the fire, you know," he told the child sternly.

"Um, thanks Mister..." Lang said timidly as the rugged man untied his leg and helped him up. He shuffled his feet while he gently brushed himself off, taking care not to rip up the already loose fabric. "My parents? Um..." he mumbled, looking down at the ground as if he had been caught doing something very wrong. "Well..."
"Another one? It is polite to say hello before you lie down by the fire, you know." came a loud voice, and Lang raised his head, startled by the sternness in the voice, and then surprised again by the two other occupants of the clearing: A dimunitive figure, and a woman with some sort of tail? This forest serves all kinds. Hehe. he thought nervously to himself.
"My name... it's Langxing. Lang. I'm an orphan... I've been trying to avoid people by heading through this forest, but the trip's been long and hard, and I'm starving, and there are all sorts of monsters in the forest, giant spiders and things, I've been lucky so far, but I don't know how long... please don't turn me away, there're werewolves out there!(Ironic, huh?)" Lang said, speaking slowly and quietly at first but then speeding up and speaking at a higher pitch until the words came tumbling squeakily out of his mouth. Clearly, you could tell that the child had done a lot of begging, and was quite bad at it.
(Alright, if no one wants a confrontation with a vicious dire wolf, don't make any allusions to the words 'Wolf', or 'Moon'. Just a little heads up.)

Victor broke into laughter after the boy had finished his pleading. "I wouldn't call myself human if I turned a small boy away from a warm fire and into the dangerous forest," he finally said, patting the boy's shoulder gently. "Have a seat. I'll go hunt something." Hunting was a lot harder when you were using a sword and not a bow, but Victor had learned stealth. Besides, he wanted solitude for a moment or two and this boy looked starved. "The next person to show up has to collect more firewood," joked Victor, snatching the belt attached to his sword, strapping it on, and taking to the shadows beyond the firelight.
