The cupid relaxed visably as she told him that she had enough money to take care of them, smiling to her thankfully. "I'll pay you back just as soon as I can." He assured her with a nod. Lexie had done so much for him already, he wouldn't blame her for saying that enough was enough and walking away from him. Kevay was a magnet for trouble, and not small trouble either. The predicaments that he got himself into involved life or death situations, often ones that could break your mind and leave you in pain, or him in pain and you dealing with a crazy cupid. He was greatful that Lexie stuck around though, more than greatful. "I really do love you, Lexie." He smiled to her.
Kevay straightened up as he realised that people were staring at him, his eyes seeming to get brighter and more alert with each new admirer he gained. Love, Kevay drew all his strength from love. When he was weak, when he needed strength the most, he simply seemed all the more irresitstable. He figured that it was some sort of a survival mechanism, draw in as much love as possible as quickly as possible so that he could protect himself, even when he was looking a state. He was just glad for all the attention, it chased away his lonliness as well as his fatigue.
He gave the inn keepers daughter a tired yet none the less charming smile while Lexie organised their room and a bath (he was letting his mind skim over the importance of a bath. If he thought about that he would realise how much of a state he looked, and then he would panic, and things would end badly).
"Bath first, then room?" He asked, giving her a hopeful smile. "You'll come with me? I don't want to be on my own right now...can't be on my own right now."

"You don't have to pay me back, Kevay. You've paid for everything more than once, so you don't have to worry about this." she assured him, smiling softly. She was blushing brightly as he repeated that he loved her, smiling dazedly and looking away from him so he wouldn't see. "You're terrible." she told him playfully, giving him half a hug as they walked so they wouldn't have to stop. People might make Kevay better, but if they stopped and he got attacked with love, she didn't think he'd physically manage to survive it. The innkeeper's daughter looked flustered as he smiled at her, her cheeks growing red - she was forced to shuffle away so she wouldn't faint or do something really stupid.
"Hm...?" Lexie looked up at him again as they walked slowly up the stairs, smiling, "Sure, that sounds good. And if you want me to go with you, of course I will. You shouldn't be alone right now anyway. I'd be afraid you'd fall asleep in the bath." she chuckled, leading them off down the corridor, the key to their room tucked up her sleeve. They had reached the bathing room soon enough, the innkeeper's daughter giving them a lopsided curtsey and opening the door for them, letting Lexie move them inside. Then she was gone again, and the door clicked shut behind them.
"Thank goodness, I was afraid you were going to kill her by accident with your charm." the jester laughed softly. She had to look away from him a lot of the time now; the little immunity she might have against Kevay seemed to have melted away for the time being. He truly was irresistible. The bath was hot, steam slowly filling the room as they stood there. "C'mon. I'll wash your hair for you." she offered, giggling to herself and taking the cloak from around his shoulders for him. She folded it over the end of a chair, before grinning to him. "I'll turn around and close my eyes. I know, I know, you don't really care, but I want to stay conscious, thanks." she winked, before turning and doing just that as she waited for him.

A bath, Kevay couldn't wait. Now that they were walking along the corridor he could feel the dirt on his skin, feel it sat there clogging up his pores. Oh, he imagined that he could smell himself, and, after sitting in that room for so long, it wasn't a pleasant thought. He was covered with grime and sweat, his tears from earlier had left trails in the dirt on his cheeks. His hair. He couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of a state his hair would be in. Unwashed for days, he hadn't been able to wash in days. Ugh, he felt polluted, felt like the dirt had actually sunk into his skin and he would never be able to get it out. He could feel his panic rising as they walked down the corridor, his grip on Lexie's hand gradually tightening. He was flithy, dusty, had worn the same clothes for days, most probably stank and his hair was a mess. Oh, life was bad.
"Charming can wait." He nodded, barely waiting for the door to be closed and for Lexie to turn away before he was peeling his clothes off, wrinkling his nose at them in distaste; if that was how dirty his clothes were then just how bad did he look? No, no, he just wasn't going to think about that. "Don't want you seeing me naked in this state. You'll think I'm a tramp." He shuddered, clambering into the bath without checking the temperature of the water, smiling to himself as the hot water swallowed him up. That felt better already. The heat chased the lingering cold from his limbs and the water was clean, well, it was for now, after Kevay was finished the water would most probably be black. Again, something else that he wasn't going to think about.
"You can wash my hair twice? Maybe even three times? I can't even imagine how bad it is. I'm scared to touch it." He admitted to her with a pout, already having grabbed the soap to scrub at his skin. "I mean, look at the state of my nails! I don't think I'll ever get the dirt out from under them. I'm tainted, Lexie, the dirt will never come off!" He exclaimed, not caring that he was being over dramatic. It was a little dirt, it would wash off, but right now it felt like the end of the world.

She could practically feel the rising panic in the room as she waited for him to climb into the bath, the jester smiling to herself faintly. Poor Kevay, he was obsessive about his appearance anyway, without spending days locked up without anyone or anything. She was glad there wasn't a mirror there. That could wait until they were in the room, although she was dubious as to whether he'd have the energy to manage fussing over himself before simply passing out. Lexie turned as he spoke again, shuffling to kneel by the side of the bathtub, giggling softly to him and watching him examine his nails. "You're not tainted. Here, you clean your nails and I'll wash your hair. Then I'll wash it again while you do the rest. You'll glow by the time I'm finished." she winked.
She fell silent as she leant over to wash his hair for him, her sleeves rolled up to stop them getting all wet. She was blushing, of course, and as the layers of dirt washed away it just got worse. But at least she didn't faint or anything. "Close your eyes!" she warned before tipping clean water over him to rinse out his hair, looking down at his skin before giggling. "Oh no, Kevay. Did you not check the temperature of the water? You're pink!" she told him, sighing exasperatedly. "Well, if you weren't going to scrub all the dirt off, it's probably melted off by now." she informed him, moving to gently tilt his chin up so she could wash his face.
"Ah, there you are." she smiled down at him once he'd finally started to get clean again, kissing the tip of his nose and laughing. A further two or three washes of his hair later, and she finally decided that there wasn't much more she could do. "Ta daa." she murmured. "The water must be freezing now, c'mon. You can have another bath tomorrow." she assured him, shifting from the side of the bath to grab a fluffy towel from one of the chairs, unfolding it and holding it out while looking away from him.

"I'll never glow every again. I'm tainted, the dirt sank in and I can never glow again." He mumbled to himself, as though that were a logical conclusion to draw from all of this, seeming bad tempered as he fussed over his nails. There was nothing surer to put Kevay in a bad mood than dirt, and this wasn't just a little dirt, this was . He had never been this bad in his life, not ever. Ugh, his skin crawled and a shudder raced down his spine at the thought of it. He was filthy, how could anyone possibly see how dashingly handsome he was through all those layers of grime? It was impossible! Oh, he was so vain, he wasn't going to rest until he had erased every last speck of dirt from his body. He didn't care if he had to scrub off a couple of lays of skin to do it, he would be clean, even if it killed him. "Pink 'cause I rubbed all the dirt off." He told her, his chin resting on the edge of the bath now, the cupid obediently closing his eyes so she could wash his face. He was exhausted now, all that washing had used up the last of his energy and it was all he could do to sit there and let her wash him without falling to sleep. Hell, he ws even sat shivering in the water seeing as it had gone cold but he couldn't muster up the energy to get out. That and it was nice to let someone else wash his hair, soothing, but that made it even harder for him to keep his eyes open. He was fighting a losing battle here, he should just fall to sleep and hope that he didn't drown. He couldn't have much more bad luck, could he? "You can look at me this time, I'm all clean and pretty again." Kevay smirked as he rose to his feet, stepping out of the bath and wrapping the towel around his waist before moving behind her to wrap his arms around her and rest his head on her shoulder, not caring that he was still soaking. "You know you really really wanna see my naked, now would be the perfect time 'cause I'm too tired to take advantage of you." He smirked to her, only seeming to be half joking, his eyes falling closed. "I sleepy. I'ma sleep here, 'kay?"

"Kevay, if I look now this isn't going to end we-- EEE!" she squeaked as he put his arms around her, shuddering a little as she found her back soaking wet. It was even worse considering that he'd just plonked his head on her shoulder, water dripping from his hair onto her clothes. "Kevay you're FREEZING." she complained, shivering, "Pretty you might be, but you're still cold!" she wrinkled her nose, walking them over to the chair to grab another fluffy towel, absently rubbing at his hair to dry it off a little. "You're lucky I brought some clothes for you with me." she mumbled, blushing brightly as he practically told her what she wanted to do, actually half turning around before she caught herself.
"Just a few more minutes, okay?" she murmured determinedly, clicking open the door of the bathing room, leaving his dirty clothes behind. "I know you're tired, but at least get dried off." she rolled her eyes, finding herself wandering down the corridor to their room with him, water dripping from the both of them. They must look like some untidy swamp as they splashed towards their room, Lexie fussing with the key when they reached the door and eventually jamming it into the lock, clicking it open. "We made it. Phew." she sighed heavily, leading them inside and clicking the door shut again. "At least you're clean now." she peeled his arms from around her waist, turning around to lean up on her toes and dry his hair properly, so it was only damp.
She sat him at the end of the bed, leaving the other towel around his waist and drying the rest of him off, looking up at him. "And now you get to sit down." she commented, still shivering a little. She didn't bother giving him clothes, she doubted he'd be able to dress himself right now and she wasn't going to do it. Instead she grabbed the blanket from her bed and threw it around his shoulders, before disappearing for a moment to take off her wet outfit. Damn Kevay, damn bathtub. She was eventually dressed in her nightgown, yawning and shuffling back to the bed, sinking down onto it. "There... now we can sleep."

"I'm freezing." He agreed with a small smirk, as though he had done that on purpose. He liked to share, this was just sharing, right? That and he liked hugs, hugs made the world go around. "I can't sleep here? But, why? I am so comfortable." He sighed to her heavily, sounding disappointed. It was time to sleep now. They were safe, he was clean, and now he wanted to sleep. Eating and anything else that involved taking care of himself could wait until he had slept. Clothes didn't even matter to him, which he never thought would happen. He would gladly wear the towel until he bought something new, as long as he was clean it didn't matter to him. "Yay, clean clothes. You don't like the towel on me?" He teased tiredly, though he nodded as she assured him that he just had to wait a few more minutes. He could handle a few more minutes...hopefully.
He shuffled after her as she lead him down the corridor, leaning against her a little, as though he didn't have enough energy to hold himself up. She could do anything she wanted to him right now and he wouldn't argue. He flopped to sit down on the bed, breathing out a sigh of relief, shoulders slumping and eyes closing. He almost fell to sleep as she was drying him off, waiting until she was done before he crawled up te bed to curl up, still wrapped in his towel. Clothes could wait, sleep first.
He did, however, make sure to wait for her to come back after changing, smiling to her sleepily. "Sleep with me, Lexie, please?" He asked, sounding hopeful, though he was barely able to keep his eyes open as he waited for her response. He didn't want to sleep alone, the thought terrified him right now. He needed to know that she would be there when he woke up, he couldn't deal with waking up alone.

"Hmm...?" she looked down at him, unable to resist a smile at the sight of him. Poor Kevay, he was exhausted. She'd not make him sleep by himself if he asked her even if he wasn't in such a fragile way right now. "Sure. Of course I will." she nodded to him softly, shifting to tug the covers from under him, slipping into the bed and tugging the blankets over them again. "You just go to sleep, Kevay. It's been a hard couple of days, you deserve to get some rest now." she brushed his damp hair out of his face and put her arms around him, kissing his forehead. "I'll be here when you wake up, okay? See you in the morning." she bade him goodnight, finding herself getting very comfortable where she was laying without meaning to.
It wasn't long before Lexie's eyes were growing heavy, and even though it was in the middle of the afternoon, she soon fell asleep next to the cupid. They said that panic could wear you out just as much as physical exercise could, and the jester was beginning to think it was true. She slept right up until morning, in fact, stirring as the sun shone in through the window, directly into her eyes (since they'd forgotten to draw the curtains before sleeping). "Mm... no..." she squinted, rubbing her eyes and shifting, wondering where she was. She blinked a few times sleepily, glancing down at Kevay and unable to resist a smile. Now she remembered.
Her gaze drifted past the cupid to the bedside table, where breakfast was already waiting for them, courtesy of the innkeeper... or more likely, courtesy of his daughter. Either way, Lexie wasn't really going to complain. She settled back against the pillows again, lazily waiting for herself to wake up. She wouldn't disturb Kevay, not after the day he'd had yesterday. He could sleep as long as he wanted to. Besides, she thought, another smile touching to her lips as she watched the cupid, he was beautiful when he was asleep. Sure, he was stunning when he was awake, but worry had marred his expression over the last few days. Asleep, he seemed peaceful, carefree even. She just hoped that nightmares wouldn't be bothering him.

He sighed in relief as she agreed to sleep with him, smiling to her happily as she clambered into bed with him. "Thanks." He murmured as he moved to nuzzle up close to her, holding her close. He didn't care that he was technically naked, since when would anything like that bother him? He was asleep almost as soon as she pulled the blankets over them and settled down. It had taken them a long time to get this far, from Les Innocents to where ever they were now, it didn't bear thinking about everything that had happened in between. When he had been in the hut he had never thought that he would see her again, never thought that he would see anyone again. All that panicking really had exhausted him, he couldn't mull over what had happened for long. He would deal with it all tomorrow, for now he wanted to sleep.
There were no nightmares that disturbed his sleep, thankfully. He slept right through without stirring, barely seeming to register as Lexie wole up. He curled up as she sat up, moving to rest his head in her lap, his arms snaking around her waist to hold onto her and make sure that she couldn't escape. He wasn't ready to wake up yet, but he wasn't ready to let her go just yet. She was just going to have to sit there until he decided to wake up, unless she wanted to battle to try and get away from him.
He woke an hour or so after she did, sighing heavily as he started to come around. At first he shuffled closer to her, holding onto her nightdress. "S'mornin'?" He mumbled eventually, his eyes flickering open as his stomach growled, the cupid chuckling to himself and shaking his head. "Tummy want's feeding. Who I gotta bribe for food?" He asked, his hair all messed up as he sat up, not that he noticed yet. Stop his stomach growling first, then he would fuss over his hair, then he and Lexie could go sit outside and everyone could love him. It sounded like a good plan for the day, in his head anyway.

Lexie contented herself with playing with his hair as he rested his head in her lap. Well, it was messy anyway, she was sure he wouldn't mind. She didn't have any intention of moving away from him any time soon, though she couldn't help a smile as he slipped his arms around her, tugging the blankets around him a little more to let him sleep. She had noticed, very soon after she'd woken up, that he was technically naked, giggling to herself and rubbing her eyes. Oh, well that was great. How did she get herself into these messes? They'd look back on this and laugh. They would have to.
After much careful flailing about and reaching over him, she managed to transfer the breakfast tray to her side of the bed, setting it down on the small table and sipping at one of the cups of coffee that had been left for them, smiling happily. As he started to stir she was eating a piece of thick bread with a layer of sweet jam, the plate held carefully under her so she wouldn't spill crumbs onto him. After the bath yesterday, she got the feeling that would go unappreciated. She paused to giggle at him as his stomach growled, shaking her head. "Yeah, s'morning." she nodded, offering her breakfast out so he could take a bite. "Noms?" she offered.
"You don't have to bribe me, there's enough here for both of us. And the innkeeper's daughter obviously didn't take much bribing. She looooooooves you." she grinned cheerfully. The more people who loved him, the better he would feel, after all. "Oh, and there's coffee here and other stuff. Take whatever you want." she nodded, before blushing and pushing the covers at him a little more. "Though I suggest you get dressed first." she murmured.

"I'm not surprised, everyone loves me. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside." He smiled to her sleepily, leaning over to take a bite from her bread before sitting back to run his fingers through his hair, haphazardly tugging the blankets across his lap. "Bet she hates you though if she came in and saw us in bed together." He smirked and winked to her before reaching up to rub the sleep from his eyes. "I should let them all know that there is enough of me to go around, then they won't get all jealous of you, or quite as jealous of you, and they would trample you or run you out of town. I'd really prefer it if things here went smoothly. I don't want an exciting life, not right now." He pouted and shook his head before looking up at her to smile a little. "I just want you and me to be happy, think we can manage it?"
Kevay arched an eyebrow at her comment about getting dressed, slowly looking down at his bare chest, thinking for a moment before shrugging. "Nah." He decided, leaning over to pick up a cup of coffee from the tray and grab himself something to eat. "I feel all liberated, I wanna eat breakfast naked." He nodded to her, a gleam of mischief in his eyes. "Plus, it makes you love me more, thus making me feel better, so me staying naked is really for the good of my health." He explained to her, as though all of that was perfectly logical, looking half serious as he took a sip of his coffee. In reality he was simply feeling too lazy to drag his ass out of bed right this second and dress himself, but Lexie didn't need to know that, did she?
"How are you feeling?" He asked her as he ate, giving her an amiable smile. "I hope you're not too tired or anything, I dunno how long it took you to find me, or how far you have to travel, but thanks." He murmured to her. "I can...I dunno. Make you feel less tired? You can have sleep hugs, or I can give you a foot massage...or just a general massage, but that usualy leads to...uh...yeah...or I could go and not be all annoying..." He suggested, tilting his head at her a little, as though to ask what he could do for her.

"Of course we can manage it." she told him cheerfully, looking rather determined about that, "It's like... logic or something. Lots of bad things have happened to us, we have to be happy and have a non-exciting life for a while to counter everything bad." she nodded, settling back against the wall and laughing softly. "That and I really would prefer it if I didn't get mauled by all of the women-folk who are going to be bending to your every whim." she winked to him. "I'm actually surprised that I was still in the bed when I woke up, and that the inn-keeper's daughter hadn't kicked me out and climbed in there with you or something. Especially considering your rather obvious nakedness." she grinned to him, shaking her head.
"Yeah, yeah. I bet that's what you say to all the girls." she smirked, rolling her eyes and moving to sip at a glass of orange juice. "You're lucky it's you, and I'm willing to believe it." she shrugged, seeming surprised as he asked how she was. A blush rose to her cheeks when he suggested a massage, Lexie nudging him playfully. "Be quiet, you." she shook her head, running her fingers through her hair and seeming content where she was. "I'm okay." she assured him, "It might have taken a little while to find you, but I caught up on all the sleep last night. And you don't have to thank me. Of course I'd come to find you. Why wouldn't I?"
She flattened his hair down a little for him, offering him a bright grin as he tilted his head. "You can get well. That's what you can do for me. As long as you get well, you don't have to do anything else." she nodded, slipping from the bed after a while to stretch and shuffle to the water basin. Washing and dressing, that was the next step.

"I would have been very unhappy if she had dragged you out of bed." Kevay told her with a pout. "Only you are allowed to enjoy my nakedness without you being naked first." He nodded to her, as though this were a serious rule. Kevay took womens clothes off before they took his off, it was how things worked. "I couldn't have her raping me in my sleep, that wouldn't do at all. Maybe we should lock the door tonight?" He suggested, sipping at his coffee again, shooting a suspicious glare at the door, as though it had betrayed him, before looking back around at Lexie and smiling brightly. He didn't want to actually sleep with anyone but her. Sure, he liked the attention, but he was getting used to sleeping with his jester now.
He smirked as he noticed her blush, seeming disappointed that she didn't want a massage. "Oh, I'm not good enough for you, is that it?" He teased, a playful tone to his voice as he threw a grape into his mouth and winked to her. "Hmmm, alright, I will try my best to get well again, for you, Lexie. Only for you." He smiled, reaching out to ruffle up her hair affectionatly before the moved away from the bed. "Aww, you don't want to be naked with me?" He laughed, though he looked half hopeful. Kevay was still feeling kinda lonely, even though he had her. He would have to do something about that soon.

Lexie couldn't help but giggle to him after she had washed her face and woken herself up properly, shaking her head at him. "Kevay, you're terrible." she told him playfully. "I'm sure she's not going to try to rape you in your sleep, or she'd have done it already. Remember, what with you being all naked when she walked in this morning. I don't think that locking the door is necessary. Not for tonight, anyway. If she tries to do anything to you, I'll beat her up and then we can lock everything." she reassured him, blushing again and pouting as he asked if she wanted to be naked with him, sorting out her ruffled hair as she disappeared behind the screen. "As tempting as your offer is, I'll have to pass this time." she laughed.
A few minutes later and she bounced out from behind the screen, in full jester gear minus the pigtails, Lexie preferring to keep her hair down today. It was only a tiny village, and they weren't exactly here to work. "C'mon, you. Let's go find you some pretty people to love and adore you." she winked to him, crossing to the bed again and smoothing his hair down for him a little. "Where do you want to go first? Shall we go to the square? I think there's a little park nearby too, and it's a sunny day. It'll be nice there." she nodded.

"I am terrible." He agreed with her with a bright smile, as though she had just complimented him. He couldn't even deny that he was terrible. In all honesty, if he had woken up while the inn keepers daughter had been in the room then she would have been in more danger of being raped than he was. He had been locked up for days, Kevay was feeling like more of an attention whore than ever now. The only thing that saved Lexie was that she was his friend and that he was sure that she wouldn't be all too pleased with him if he charmed her pants off. "I know what's better than locking the doors." He told her, a mischievious gleam in his eyes, the cupid suddenly looking motivated to start the day. He had a plan, he was going to make everyone love him and he would feel loved and wanted and not lonely and the world would be right again.
"You're passing?" He gasped at her, looking down at himself before looking up at her. "I'm not good enough for you? Bah, your standards are far too high." He teased, wrapping one of the blankets around his waist (for Lexie's benefit) before he rose to his feet and shuffled over to the draws to wash. He was ready in record time, for him anyway, fastening the buttons on his shirt up as he headed towards the door ten minutes later, his hair now almost as perfect as usual. "Anywhere. Square, park, anywhere sunny, anywhere I can sit in the sun and be loved at all." He nodded to her as he opened the door, pausing to look back at her. "Are you going to put a show on? If you say no I'm just going to round up a group of kids and get them to ask you, then you can never say no."
