"Ah, I was hoping to get a few new outfits," Charlie answered. "If you are uneasy with the smallness of the place, we'll just get a shirt for now and perhaps find a different tailor shop later." He looked at her questioningly. He wasn't going to keep her in a cramped space for longer than she needed to be. He couldn't imagine how irritating having wings would be.
He began digging through the shirt piles, making sure to keep them organized as he did so. He raised a black and dark red one, eyeing them and replacing the black one to pick out a beige one.
"Hmm, what do you think?" he asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"I'm alright, it's just a little cramped in here..." She murmured, glancing around before closing her eyes for a moment. A soft, golden glow seemed to surround her wings, the wings themselves slowly seeming to retract into her back, leaving the golden glow in the shape of the wings behind her. Once the things were hidden within her back the glow moved towards her too, burning white marks in the shape of wings on her back, but that was hidden by her clothing. Uncomfortable, sure it was, but she could stand it for a while.
"No, staying would be fine." She nodded, "I'm better now." She smiled to him lightly, examining the shirt. "It's nice, I prefer colour though, beige is only pretending to be a colour, it's good for clothing you know you will ruin..." She told him before blushing a little. "Ignore me, I think about these things too much..."

"No, no, I agree," Charlie said. He truly did. He traveled... a beige shirt would only become stained and dirty. He dug around and found a royal blue to replace the beige, and replaced the dark red with a green. He examined them, then held them up for her opinion with a questioning look.

"I like those two. The colours will suit you." She nodded to him, glad that he had changed the red. She had never been a fan of red, it was such an aggressive colour, the colour of mortal blood. "Yep, much better than beige, and they won't get dirty as easily." She added in, rolling her shoulders to ease the discomfort of her hidden wings.

Charlie nodded in acknowledgement and shoved the shirts under an arm. He examined the store for a moment before finding and starting toward the section where pants were kept. He took two pairs of black pants and one pair of navy, shoving them under his arm.
"Ah, and now I need a new formal outfit," Charlie commented, setting the clothes on a small table amongst several spools of thread and needles. He walked briskly over to the section with more luxurious clothing and began looking around. "Now, I'm quite lost, Angel. Why don't you pick it out? I trust your judgment, and you do owe me." He winked and grinned.

"Me?" She asked, looking surprised by that request, rubbing the back of her head a little as she followed him into the formal section of the tailors. "I've never been anywhere formal before..." She admitted to him, the only idea she had on formal clothing was people they had stolen from when she was with the band of travellers.
She twisted one of her curls around her finger as she wandered past all the clothing, looking rather happy to be amongst such clothing. "What colour would you like?"

"Hmm," Charlie pondered. "Not too bright or attention-seeking, yet not too commonplace." They had many different styles of clothing in this area, different collar designs, some had ties on their V-necks, different cuff styles, some with intricate embroidery designs... Charlie felt they had found the perfect tailor shop. There was much more to choose from here. He liked to dress up when he performed... his father had once said, "Image is everything."

Angel turned to study Charlie for a moment, her cobalt eyes sparkling in the candle light as she seemed to take in everything about his appearance in that instant. He would need something which was cut simply and sharply because he was broad, so as not to make him look silly. A darker colour would probably be better. Black trousers, a shirt and a waist coat maybe? Who knew.
"There is so much to choose from." She murmured as she turned her attention back to the clothes, moving over to study the shirts. "I am sure that you don't want one of these silky materials, right?" She asked with a grin, unable to see him in such flouncy fabrics.

Charlie shook his head. "Soft to the touch, but not for me," he responded with a light laugh. He followed alongside her, also studying all the clothing around him. There was so much to look at. For once, he wasn't worried about how poor Jaynee was doing at the stable. He was a little more relaxed in this shop and was glad that he had a second opinion on his clothing from Angel.

Angel was glad of his company, glad that she wasn't forced to waste her free hours on her own again. Plus, shopping for him was rather fun, and soon she had picked out a whole outfit for him without getting distracted by the elaborate dresses close by, which was an achievement for her really. Angel was easily distracted, especially by dresses and such things that women ought to have but she couldn't even dream of owning.
"Well, what do you think?" She asked, obviously meaning about his outfit. "It's not too expensive, is it? I forgot to check the prices when I picked them up..." She added, now twisting one of her curls around her finger rather nervously.

"Price isn't an obstacle," Charlie said. He realized how stuffy he had sounded. "I mean, that's fine. It's no trouble." He smiled. "The outfit looks wonderful! Thank you, Angel." He examined it, trying to imagine it on himself, but he could never picture his own face, no matter how hard he tried. He took the outfit into his arms. "If you see anything you like..." He waved his arm around, gesturing toward the women's clothing. "Snatch it. And don't worry, you can pay me back. I know you don't like accepting charity." He didn't think he would accept her repayment once she offered it, but he would cross that deadly bridge when he came to it.

She did actually pause and blink at him at his first comment, rolling her eyes a little. Men and money, a rather deadly combination if there ever was one. "Ahhh, well...I suppose that's alright then..." She murmured with a small shrug of her shoulders, brushing her hair back from her face again, looping it behind her ear to keep it out of the way. Pesky hair! It was a shame that she looked like a horse when she plaited her hair or she would have been able to keep it away from her face.
She blushed rather brightly as she glanced around at all the women's clothing, rubbing the back of her head a little. "I...oh...that's alright..." She told him, seeming pretty embarrassed. She couldn't let him spend that much on her, and all these dresses looked so expensive...and she just didn't know which would suit her. Oh, and there was always the fact that it would be a waste of money because she would have nowhere to wear such elaborate clothing.

Charlie wanted to argue with her, but he knew better and didn't want to annoy her.
"Very well then," he said in defeat. He walked back over to the table where he had sat his other clothing and took it all into his arms. He looked around until he spotted the desk with a man behind it, who smiled at him. Charlie nodded his head in greeting as he carried his new outfits to the front and lied them down. "I'd like them fitted as well. I have long forgotten my sizes." The old man chuckled slightly.
"No problem, young fella," he said. "Just a moment." He dug around in a couple drawers on the desk before he pulled out a long slip of what seemed to be paper, though the material was much stronger than that. It had markings all up and down its sides and a metal loop on one end. The tailor walked around the desk and wrapped the strip around his waist, sticking the loopless end through the loop and pulling it. Charlie lifted up his shirt a little so that the man could read more accurately. The man muttered to himself, almost inaudibly, as he removed the strip and measured him a couple inches lower, then around his abdomen, and finally around his shoulders. The reason for his mutterings became obvious as the pants all glowed a pale yellow for a moment, resized, and then faded back to normality.
"Thank you," Charlie said appreciatively. He dug around in his coinbag and produced a few gold and silver coins, and several bronze ones. He gave the man the exact change, not wanting to appear as if he was flaunting his money around and give him a gold coin extra, as he usually did to save time. "Will these be appropriate for the sizing fee?" He offered another silver. The elderly man nodded.
"Thanks for yer patronage," the man said, grinning. For the first time, he noticed Angel. He readjusted the monocle he was wearing and leaned closer. "And yer not gettin' anythin' for the pretty lady?" Charlie shrugged.
"I offered," he said hopelessly. "You have a good day, sir." The man nodded and Charlie turned for the door, offering his arm again.

There was a dress that she wanted; the one in the corner that was a dark purple in shade, made from some sort of satin. It was beautiful, and she loved the colour, but, as before, she didn't want him spending that amount of money on her. No matter how much she was starting to trust him she didn't want to feel like she owed him...or have him feel that she was just using him for his money.
She lingered behind him as the man took his measurements, her back starting to hurt from keeping her wings crammed up and hidden, but they would be out of the tailors soon and she would be able to let them out again.
Her eyes glittered with curiosity as she watched the tailor, wondering what all those measurements told him. She had never been able to afford to come to a place like this before, she had always had to guess what size she was, which was probably why her clothes didn't fit her too well. If she knew how to sew she would have changed them herself, but she just made a mess when she tried and gave up before she wrecked her clothing.
She offered the man a rather charming smile as he mentioned her, moving over to link her arm with Charlie's again, looking up at him. "I know you did, and I am thankful, but not matter how much money you have I wouldn't like to think that you were wasting it on me."

"A waste would imply that it was not worth what was spent," Charlie argued as he led her from the store and back onto the street. "Money is just... money." He shrugged. "Everything truly worth anything in life is free. Friendship can't be bought at any price, thus making it priceless, and therefore I would not mind spending a few extra coins to buy my new friend a dress." He grinned. It was the first time he felt safe arguing back, as if it wasn't an actual argument that would end in a woman throwing things at him... or leaving him with a hex. At the thought, his scarred hand itched, but he ignored it. "Where to now, Angel?" He looked both ways on the street to see if he saw something that particularly caught his eye. Most of the shops on the main road were rich enough to afford freshly-painted signs declaring what their business was.
