Charlie watched, his head tilted to the side, much like a confused puppy, as Jaynee calmed down with nothing but a snort. After Angel had stopped, she trotted over to Phantom's side and stood alongside him, as if waiting to go to the stables.
"You're going to have to teach me that trick one day," Charlie muttered, itching the patch of hair on his chin. "But not right now, because..." He started singing. "Weeee are on our wayyy. Setting out to seeeaaa!"

"I have lots of things to teach you now." She smiled to him softly as she watched Jaynee move over to stand by Phantom. "It's a good job that we have a long boat trip for me for all this learning you have to do." She grinned, glancing back over her shoulder at Charlie. Well, they wouldn't get bored on the trip to the Shattered Lands, would they? She had so much to tell him and it was the same for him aswell. Plus, they still had so much to learn about one another.
"We are! But we better get moving so that we don't miss the ship!" She exclaimed to him. "We just have to pack everything up and then we can go. Oh, I'm so exciiiiiiiiiiited!" She beamed, her wings fluttering behind her.

Charlie nodded, that ever-lovable grin on his face. He reached over and took her left hand in his right, placing his own right on Jaynee's back. He didn't know why he always had to hold her hand, he hardly even noticed he did it; it just seemed natural, the way things should be.
"I can carry Jaynee's load from the stables to the boat," he announced. "That way we don't have to find some way of getting her back to the stables." He cleared his throat and shook his hair out of his face to look at her, his eyes twinkling with happiness. "Shall we go then, m'lady?"

Yes, holding onto Charlie's hand had become a little bit of a habit by this point. She supposed that it was that extra little bit of reassurance that he was there and he hadn't run away or anything like that, not that she expected that he would leave her at all; she was just far too accustomed to travelling alone. It was nice to have company though, even if she worried about what she was dragging him into.
"Yeah, we should be able to carry everything." She nodded, picking up the bags that she had packed her half of the supplies into, hoisting it up over her shoulder before smiling to him brightly and nodding to him. "Ready! Let's go!" She exclaimed, her excitement evident in her voice. Ahh! They were finally on their way!

Charlie walked quickly, taking long strides in his anxiety. He couldn't wait to get to the ship, to start their journey, though he was something more than terrified of what they would meet in the Shattered Lands. Such a selfless soul he was, he found that he was more afraid of being unable to protect Angel against what they would meet there than he was for his own life. He thought of slowing down his walking for Angel's sake, but she seemed to keep up with him easily, with her long legs and natural grace. Jaynee was unusually tranquil and Charlie again pondered at how Angel had done what she had.
Angel certainly was amazing. She was the most interesting person he had ever met, a mystery wishing, waiting, wanting to be unraveled. Already he was wondering how he'd ever done without her.
He was absent-minded during most of their walk, absorbed in his own thoughts. He wondered about the Shattered Lands, about Angel, and about what possible connection that blighted place could have with her, who was just as celestial as her name suggested.

A fast pace suited Angel right now, the faster they walked the sooner they would be on the ship, and the sooner they were on the ship the sooner they would be on their way! She had a happy bounce to her step as she trotted along next to Charlie, her smile not having faded from her lips, eyes gleaming with an almost childish level of excitement. It was all one huge adventure, wasn't it? Well, right now it seemed that way. Even the dangers of the Shattered Lands seemed to be far away, as if that were something that she would never have to face. It wasn't as though Angel were fully defenceless anyway, she may look it but she surprised herself of the time, not remembering where she learnt how to fight and such. Plus, she could always heal Charlie and make sure that he was alright...yes...everything should be just fine. They would simply have to be a little careful and not run into things head first. She was quite a mystery though, wasn't she? Even to herself. She just wanted to know who she was, that wasn't too much to ask, was it? Just to remember where she was from or who her parents were; little things like that would make all the difference. You just felt...lost without all those little bits of information.

While consumed in his thoughts, the trip went by quickly. It didn't seem long at all until they were at the stables, the owner watching them approach.
"We'll be taking a trip by boat," Charlie announced. "I don't know exactly how long it'll take, but I hope you'll trust that, if this isn't enough, I'll pay you in full once I return." He handed the man a handful of gold coins, which seemed to please him. Money was no object when it came to his beloved horse. "Angel, would you mind if I had a moment alone with the stable owner? It'll be quick, I promise." He smiled genially.

"Hmmm? Oh, yes, of course." Angel nodded up to Charlie, reluctantly releasing his hand. "Phantom's already in the stables, so I will wait out here for you." She told him, not seeming to mind waiting for him for a moment. Even after such a little time with Charlie she knew that he loved Jaynee, and that it wouldn't be easy for him to leave her behind. That caused her a pang of guilt, scowling ever so lightly as she glanced down at the ground. It was almost like splitting a family up, wasn't it? She would have to make sure that this trip didn't last too long, to make sure that she didn't keep him and Jaynee apart for too long, and she would just have to trust that the stable owner would look after the horses well, he seemed like a decent person so she couldn't see why anything would go wrong.
Angel sighed softly as she leant back against a fence, letting her fingertips through her hair. Everything would be fine, she would do everything that she could to ensure that everything was fine...

Charlie seemed to forget that Angel could read his mind as he leaned forward to the stable owner.
"Listen, if, by any off chance, I don't come back, I want you to look after Jaynee as best you can," he said. "Find her a good owner, one that'll take precious care of her and let her run free every now and then." The man nodded, seeming to read Charlie quite well. "She likes being sung to and, if you let her run free, she knows to come back. She won't leave." The man nodded some more. "Thank you." He turned to Jaynee and hugged the horse around her neck, stroking her mane a few more times. "You be good, or I'll hear about it," he said, smiling. He began unstrapping her burden and she seemed to understand what this meant. She snorted, but did not object, and walked into the fenced area as soon as he told her to.
Charlie lugged the supplies over to Angel and forced a smile.
"Ready then?"

Yes, she could read minds, but catching emotions was much easier. She didn't want Charlie to think that she was intruding by reading his mind, but sometimes, such as times like this, his thoughts were carried with his emotions. She sighed a little and tubbed at the side of her head, seeming thoughtful. He was right, of course, she may be excited but this wasn't going to be a walk in the park, and the chances of either of them coming back were slim, it they existed at all. They just had to hope that their luck held out until their return journey.
She gave Charlie a soft smile as he came back, touching the back of his hand gently. "You don't need to do this Charlie, you don't need to come with me. I will understand if you want to stay." She told him gently, both her voice and her eyes showing that she wouldn't hold it against him if he decided to change his mind now, though her eyes did betray that she would sorely miss him if he were to change his mind. She had become rather fond of Charlie in the little time that they had known one another, and she didn't really want to loose him now, but she understood if he didn't feel that he could go with her. Afterall, this whole journey was about her, wasn't it? Charlie offered to go and look after her, but he wouldn't really gain anything from this, would he?

Charlie's smile faded as Angel read him like a book. He leaned his head into her touch involuntarily and closed his eyes. He didn't even need to think of his response, it just flowed through his mouth.
"Angel, there is no way I'm turning back now," he said, opening his eyes and looking into hers. "Not even if you did everything in your power to persuade me otherwise, not even if you told me you didn't want me to come. I'd follow you regardless." The seriousness left his face as it lit up with a smile. "Besides," he placed his hands on her shoulders, "you still owe me. You have a lot to teach me. Perhaps we should have written a list." He winked and let his hands fall back to his sides.

Charlie would be able to see the indecision in her eyes as he spoke, as if she were actually contemplating telling him that he shouldn't go with her, and that she would be fine on her own; but that would be a lie and Angel was terrible at lying. So, instead she decided that it would be better to trust his choice, smiling to him lightly before nodding a little. "Alright then...as long as you are sure..." She murmured slowly, still not sounding fully convinced, but agreeing with him all the same. This would probably pass, she just had to stop herself from worrying about what might happen and focus on what was happening right now.
Her smile became easier and softer at his last comment, rolling her eyes at him. "Oh dear, you saw through me. I guess that we will just have to set off now and you can write a list of everything I have to learn you when we get there?" She suggested, offering him her hand.

Charlie laughed, accepting her hand and walking with her.
"Yes," he agreed. "A list would be mutually convenient." He smirked, setting his eyes forward.
He couldn't wait to be aboard the ship, to leave Idaitokai behind. He knew that this trip was for Angel's benefit alone, however, he couldn't help but hope that he, too, would find out more about who he really was, what his purpose was... Angel was missing everything from her past and Charlie couldn't even fathom what that would be like. He knew exactly where he came from. As far as he was concerned, he had a pretty healthy memory; but yet he yearned for more. Always. More knowledge, and knowledge concerning oneself is the best sort.

Her thoughts brightened a little as he took her hand, lifting her pack to throw it over her shoulder before moving to follow Charlie toward the harbour. They were back on track, and right now they weren't long away from getting on the ship...and from there they would really be on their way.
Her excitement started to creep up on her again as they drew closer and closer to the harbour, able to smell the salty tang in the air and hear the waves whispering before she could even see the sea. Her wings fluttered as she smiled, glancing up at Charlie, as if to check to make sure that he wasn't having any second thoughts.
"We're almost there! Just a hop, skip and a jump and we will be on the ship!" She grinned, peering between the building that were up ahead, as if trying to catch her first glance of the water, hoping that it was calm so that they would have an easy start. She couldn't see why it wouldn't be calm, there wasn't much more than a light breeze today, and the weather seemed fine enough for setting out to sea.

Charlie laughed, not because something was funny. It was that genuine sort of laugh that you made out of pure emotion; happiness and excitement in this case. It amazed Charlie how he could live Angel's emotions through her. Just seeing how incredibly numb to fear she of the most formidable country in Syrunn due to her exhilaration made him feel the same way. He swept a glance over the harbor as they came on it, what he could see of it anyway; it was huge -- the wooden dock creaked under their feet. Well, Charlie's anyway.
"So, which ship is ours?" he inquired, giving her hand a squeeze.
ooc;; So, do we start the new thread now? Or wait until they've boarded?
Oh, and can Kamui join? I've been trying to convince him to. I didn't think you'd mind, but it's your role play, so I feel obligated to ask. ^^
