"But maybe some people have everything they need back home, but not everything they want. Maybe some people want more... it's selfish but true, eh?" Nudge giggled a little, pushing a lock of fiery hair from her face as she moved to follow Nicu over to where they were playing cards. She could vouch for that personally, after all - she was sure that had she stayed in the little village of Tsukaan she'd have lived adequately for the rest of her days. But when you thrived for more, for travel and adventure and had the ambition to help people... well, you just ended up doing it, didn't you? She supposed it might have been the same with Nicu, no matter what he said; he seemed the type of person who, although had his attachment to the sea, would go where he wanted to, regardless of whether everything he needed was some place else. The fact that he was on the ship right now was proof enough of that, right?
She had noticed his scar almost immediately, it wasn't as though you could easily hide such a brutal thing, although she hadn't questioned about it. She'd been planning to after a while; Nudge's curiosity was bound to get the better of her eventually, but at the moment she'd become rather distracted by it, chancing glances at it every now and then. She was certain that she knew a spell that could help to fade scars, it must have been somewhere in the little ledger she kept in her cloak. She'd learnt it on the way to Cressa from a slightly maddened old sage, after earning a light cut on her arm. Not wanting it to scar too badly, she'd asked for advice and, in return, had gained the spell. She didn't know whether it would work on scars that had already formed... but you never knew anything until you tried it out.
But then, she didn't know how he'd gotten the scar; heck, maybe he liked it? She'd have to remember to ask later, if he was in a talkative mood. "Cheat?" she tilted her head, a light smile on her face, "That's okay. It's only a game, right?" she shrugged, settling her wooden staff on the deck next to her as she sat down on Nicu's right, her eyes on the cards as the men played their game; Nicu was correct, they did tend to cheat a lot... flashes of the wrong card here, an extra card coming from the sleeve of another after a while, the sneaky theft of a few of another's bettings... tut tut. Though she couldn't help the amused smile on her face; it was as though they all knew the others were cheating, and didn't care.

"Most people don't even know what they want when they leave 'ome...and it's only when they're a million miles away from 'ome that they realise that everythin' they ever wanted was back there." She shrugged to Nudge. She knew many sailors that had returned home after a year or so at sea because being away from home was what made them realise that it really was everything they wanted in life. Then again, Nicu couldn't really claim that she knew that feeling at all. She didn't really have a home, after her father's death she had lost all that. If someone had actually found her and recognised her she would have been taken into the care of some huge family that were low on the social ladder and that only wanted to look after her so that they could claim her fortune. No, she hadn't left a home behind when she'd started sailing. It was more like the ocean had become her home, and when she was away from it she always realised how much she missed it. She could never settle on dry land...and if she couldn't see the sea at all she just wouldn't rest.
Like it? She despised it! Who would like being half blind? If Nicu knew that there was something Nudge might be able to do to lessen the scarring she would jump at the chance, experimental cure or not. She was still a woman, and though she had given up all ideas of vanity it would be nice not to look so hideous. The only down side would be that the crew may realise that she was a woman without the scar disfiguring her face, then again, they had known her as being male for so long they would probably doubt themselves if they started to wonder about her gender. Plus, it wouldn't change her personality, she would still be the same foul tempered Nicu that she had always been, and she doubted that anyone would dare to think that she was lying.
They did know that one another were cheating, and they really didn't care unless it was a really sneaky cheat that ended up winning the game or messing up your game. The pack usualy ended up with double the ammount of cards in it after a game like this after all the cards had been added, even Nicu had a trick or two up her sleve that gave her an unfair advantage, but she was more subtle about it. She would cheat for Nudge, the girl couldn't play fair against men like this and expect to get anywhere. She would have to slip her a few cards every now and again or something. She sat back as they started to deal the cards out, drumming her fingers over the barrell she was sat on as she waited.

"Yeah, but then an equal number of people find what they want once they've left home, and everything works out okay. Just a difference of opinion, I guess." she smiled a little, rubbing the back of her head and staring up at the red streaked sky with a light sigh. Oh, she could get used to being out here, even she couldn't deny it. Even she couldn't blame the sailors that went to sea and never came back again, even though she was pretty certain that the feelings she felt now could be recreated somewhere on land... or maybe Nudge was just very easy to please. Ah, well. She didn't really feel like delving into a philosophical inner-debate currently, it was too nice out here on the deck. And she had a game to be playing, after all.
It was a good thing that Nicu was probably more subtle at cheating than any of the other sailors, since that would make it less likely that Nudge would take notice of the 'helping hand' she was being given. The girl's green eyes glittered excitedly as she plucked her cards from the barrel and gazed at them, biting her lower lip lightly as she thought. Hm... well, it wasn't a bad hand, she had to admit. It wasn't great, but she figured that she was at least on par with everyone else at the table. Although she was pleasantly surprised when she suddenly found the cards on the table were suited to her hand exactly. Perhaps it was just beginners luck? She laid her cards on the table with the rest of the sailors at the end of the game, smiling faintly as she realised she'd won.
"Hey, look Nicu. I got the highest cards." she smiled up at the sailor, seeming adorably surprised with herself as she looked at the hand on the table. "I don't know how... but I did." she pushed her hair out of her face, tilting her head at the cards. "I like this game, it's more fun than Blackjack." she decided, tugging at the hem of her cloak and sitting up a little; it was hard enough to see over the huge barrel as it was, it didn't help that she was so small.

Yes, it was a good thing that Nicu was a subtle cheater because no-one seemed to notice that she was helping Nudge until the end of the game. Nicu had, of course, lost seeing as she had been too busy helping Nidge to try and make anything of her own hand of cards. Oh well, it was worth it to see the dumbfounded look on the other pirates faces as they looked at Nudge's cards. "Looks like ya did kid, well done. Ya better at this game than ya thought." She winked to the girl, feeling oddly pleased at Nudge's response. Ok, maybe helping people now and again felt kinda good, but she wasn't going to make a habit of it. Bah, she wasn't a good deed kind of person, especially not when she wasn't getting anything from the good deed anyway.
The other pirates, however, didn't seem quite as proud of the girl as Nicu was, one of them slamming his hand down on the barrell violently, glaring at Nudge. "She cheated!" He exclaimed, rising to his feet suddenly, "I ain't paying!" He shouted, Nicu rolling her eyes at him, a dagger suddenly appearing in her hand, rising to her feet just as quickly as the other man had, the dagger slammed down through his hand, pinning it to the top of the barrell, the guy growling in pain. "She won so ya payin', like it or not. Unless ya want me to take the money." That was a threat, which was met with defiance from the man.
He reached down to pull the dagger from his hand and toss it away from him, lunging to jump over the barrell at Nicu. She seemed to have been expecting that though, stepping to the side to let the man crash to the floor, not hestiating to kick him in the side as he fell. "Come on, ya can do better than that." She taunted as the man rose to his feet again, seeming to growl at her again before the pair of them were scuffling again. It seemed impossible that Nicu would actually win, she seemed so small compared to the man, but within a few minutes her knee connected violently with a tender area between his legs and he collapsed to the ground, grunting in pain. She wiped the blood away from her split lip, her eye looking a little puffy from being punched and it would probably be black in the morning...oh...and the front of her shirt was stained with blood from what looked to be a long cut. "Bastard." She snapped, bending down to take the mans money pouch before throwing it to Nudge. "Refuse to pay again and I throw ya overboard." She threatened before walking away, putting her hand to the cut. Oh...that hurt.

Nudge couldn't help a small, shocked squeak as the sailor slammed his hand down on the barrel; she hadn't really been expecting that sort of violence in his reaction. It was only a game after all, wasn't it? Did it really mean that much? "Oh, you don't have to pay if you don't want to, it's only for f-- Nicu!" she jumped as the knife was pinned into the man's hand, her own fingers gripping the edge of her seat now with an iron hold. Oh, dear. Perhaps travelling on a ship wouldn't be so much fun after all. She'd been about to apologise and even offer to heal the guy had he not lunged across the barrel at them, Nudge forced to her feet as they started to scuffle, her wooden rod in hand as she tugged at the clasp of her cloak.
"Please! There's no need to fight over it!" she pleaded, red-gold brows knitting together in a frown as she watched nervously; she'd seen a few scuffles and brawls in her travels, but they had never started so... well, abruptly. Perhaps these sailors had cabin fever, and so their tempers were short? And she too seemed rather concerned at the size difference between Nicu and the other man; he was so big in comparison, but then she was living proof that there was more to someone than first met the eye. But still, that didn't mean they should fight, especially over something so petty! She almost seemed relieved when the other sailor crumpled to the ground, sighing that it was thankfully over. Although she fumbled with the man's money pouch when Nicu threw it to her - she didn't like the idea of taking his money, especially with his injured hand...
However, that was completely forgotten when she saw the blood blossom on Nicu's shirt, the pouch disappearing into the folds of her cloak as she watched him walk away, taking no time in darting after him. "Are you alright...?" she asked quietly as she caught up, green eyes glinting in the darkness as they flitted over the injuries with practised calmness and ease, a calculating look in them. "You didn't have to do that, it was only a game... a few coins didn't mean anything to me, especially when you got hurt because of it!" she frowned, pushing her hand through her mane of crimson hair, tilting her head to look up at Nicu. "I'd prefer to be a little lighter in my pockets than to be short one friend." she murmured with a faint pout; no, it didn't take much for Nudge to consider a friend anyway... but Nicu had gotten into a fight and slashed with a knife just for her benefit. She'd have to lecture him about doing things like that... oh, well, at least she could heal him up. If he would let her. "Will you slow down? It'll bleed more otherwise." she murmured.

Nicu seemed to take a moment to notice that Nudge had caught up with her and was currently speaking to her, rolling her eyes as she shook her head. "Let them get away with that an' they'll walk all over ya." She mumbled to her in response to her comments, actually looking remarkably calm now to say that she had been fighting five second earlier. "They can't threaten me an' think that they can get away with it." It was all about respect and fear on a ship like this. If you let them know that they could push you around then they would do it more and more. Sometimes she just had to remind them why she was the firstmate on this ship, and that they should respect her. Plus, respecting her meant that they had to respect whoever she chose to befriend, on this occasion that being Nudge.
She glanced down at her chest at the comment about stopping, shaking her head. "Nah, 's just a scratch." She shrugged to her, seeming pretty unconcerned that the hand that she was holding over the gash was now bright crimson and warmed by her own blood. It wasn't just a scratch, and it was bleeding much more than she would have liked it to...but she needed to get to her cabin before she looked at it properly. The placing of the wound was very inconvenient, it would make things rather difficult for the next few days...plus her shirt was all bloody too...and this was a new one too. Damn it, she could never stay unbloody for long.
She fell into a brooding silence as she disappeared down a set of creaky stairs and into the dark bowls of the ship. Her cabin wasn't far from the kitchens, getting her own seeing as she was firstmate...though there was hardly enough room in there for a chest and a hammock nevermind anything else. She tugged the open, not noticing that her hand was shaking by now, Nicu starting to look a little pale. Damn, moving was starting to hurt. "You should go explore or summthin' and I'll deal with this..." She muttered as she plonked down ontop of the chest, raising her feet to prop them against the opposite wall as she gathered the bottom of her shirt up over the wound, increasing the pressure that she was holding over it before she raised her gaze to Nudge. "Just scram will ya?"

As though Nudge wasn't going to follow him down the stairs, the girl beginning to look a little worried about Nicu as he grew paler, tilting her head slowly as she followed him into the bowels of the ship, wondering if the winding corridors and creaky floors were ever going to end... oh, she was probably lost by now anyway, nevermind. "Yeah, but now they haven't just threatened you, they stabbed you!" she reminded the sailor with a light pout, her arms moving to fold across her chest as she followed. "And you still haven't slowed down any." she reminded him, though seemed rather relieved when he stopped at what appeared to be his cabin. She hadn't been aware that Nicu was the firstmate, although that was made pretty obvious now as he walked through the door - not just anyone got their own cabin, so he must have been pretty high up in the ranks.
Her concerned look returned as she watched him sink down onto the chest, though she was frowning again at his last comment. "Geeze, you're stubborn." she commented lightly, watching the blood seep through the hand covering the gash and taking no time in stepping into thhe room after him... well, his words might as well have fallen on deaf ears. The small girl was hovering opposite him instantly, her eyes moving over the wound again and the wooden rod ending up propped against the walls as she worked at the silver clasp of her cloak, that also ending up pooled on the ground next to her... well, she didn't want to get it bloody, did she? It had happened on a few occasions and she hadn't been best pleased.
"Okay, now you listen to me for once." she frowned at him; she could be stubborn when she wanted to as well, "There's no way you can just brush a wound like that off, and I know you're not stupid so if you know what's good for you you'll stop being so hard-headed and listen to what I'm telling you." she snapped, resting her hands on her hips now, "If you hold still and don't complain I could heal you up in five minutes, tops. But if you want to carry on being stubborn I can leave you here to die. Because if the blood loss doesn't kill you then the infection will, and I'm not strong enough to get rid of that." Of course she wasn't really intending to leave him there, that would go against everything she knew... but at least the threat was there, right?

Yes, she should have realised that she wouldn't be able to shake Nudge off that easily, not after the brief battle she had just witnessed. Nudge was far too much of a moral person to leave Nicu to crawl into her cabin and lick her own wounds. Damn kid. "S'only a little scratch, 'av 'ad worse." She mumbled to the other girl and rolled her eyes at her, as if to ask why on earth she was making such a big deal of this. She had received more serious and life threatenin wounds than this before and she was still alive, wasn't she? She'd survived after getting the nasty scar over her eye, though the fact that she had been treated in a sort of make-shift hospital was probably the reason that she hadn't picked up some nasty infection. "Stop ya fussin'. Not as if 'am gonna drop dead." She grumbled. A hint of concern crept into her eyes as she glanced down at her stomach. Hmmm, that was rather more blood than she had been expecting. She needed to stop that, and fast, she didn't want to be fainting in front of Nudge and having her take her shirt off and...well...discover her little secret. If she could stay awake at least she could all out refuse to let Nudge take her shirt off, even if it was getting in the way of the wound, which it no doubt would do. Oh...this was going to end badly...very badly. Nicu raised her gaze to look up at Nudge as she began her little speech, boredom and defiance in her eyes. She didn't seem at all convinced by anything that Nudge was saying, and under normal circumstances she would have gone through the multiple reasons why she was wrong and why she should leave her alone to sort herself out, but these weren't normal circumstances. She was starting to feel light headed and she just didn't have the energy to argue back; plus she seemed to have realised that there would be no talking Nudge out of this, even if she threatened her and growled. "Fine." She sighed eventually, rolling her eyes at the minature healer. "But ya better chut the door first then. I won't 'av people gawpin' at me."

But in Nudge's eyes, no wound was a minor one; if you were injured and she had the power to help it was more than likely that she'd do it, even for something as little as a scratch. The amount of blood on Nicu's shirt was really starting to concern her now though, even if she'd gotten over her squeamishness and panic attacks at least a year ago. Something she'd learned very quickly was that healers had to stay calm, and most wounds were... bloodier than they looked. But still, she had to get this sorted out. She'd need to see the wound at least, yes, but not until she found out just how bad it was... but unfortunately it was more than probable that Nicu's secret would be out if she did that too. Gender was kind of one of the first things noted when you started to heal someone.
"You're surprisingly modest for a guy." she smiled a little but nodded and obliged nonetheless, moving to click the door of the cabin closed and darting to Nicu's side next to the chest... it really was incredibly cramped in here with two people, a place to sleep and a chest, wasn't it? "Thanks, though." she murmured as she moved his hand out of the way with all the disregard of whether you wanted her to or not of a typical healer; was had to be done had to be done, right? "For letting me heal you, I mean. I'll check how deep the knife went in first, okay? Then I need to see the cut." she told the sailor, reaching out her right hand to place her forefinger and her index finger on his forehead, taking a deep breath before her eyes fell closed.
It was clear that the girl was concentrating from the frown on her face, although her touch was light as she focused. Seconds passed and her hand began to glow a rather faint white, and then the frown was gone. That was always the hardest part, summoning the healing energy to begin with. After you mastered that, everything else was pretty simple. Right, now down to it. She had to scan Nicu's body from head to toe in order to locate the wound; she wasn't that adept yet that she could just leap into someone's consciousness and find what she was looking for. Though she was getting better at it. However it wasn't long before she noticed Nicu's little 'secret', and her green eyes flew wide. Her hand slipped from his... no... her forehead, and she took a step back.
"You're... you're not... oh my God!" she covered her mouth with one hand and gazed at Nicu as though seeing her for the first time. Yes, she'd always thought he was rather feminine looking for a burly sailor, but she'd never figured... whoa. Well, at least she'd figured out how deep the wound was before she'd stumbled across that little piece of information, although all thoughts of the cut were momentarily put on hold. "I won't tell a soul I swear!" she blurted out suddenly, but it was rather muffled by her own hand.[/font]

A squeamish healer wouldn't be very much use, would they? Practically every wound included some level of blood and/ or gore, and if you couldn't even look at a wound how could you be expected to heal it? Nicu had never been squeamish, not that she could remember anyway. Looking in a mirror after the pirates attack on the docks had been enough to rid her of any queasiness she had around wounds. The cut had been awful when it had been fresh, loosely and messily stitched up with some sort of black stitching that made her look like a monster. She had refused to come out from under her blankets and let anyone look at her for days. She was ugly and disfigured, why would anyone want to look at her? She had gotten over that though, she had to get over that, though she still avoided looking at her reflection. She might not mind gore but she did't want to be reminded of how ugly she was all the time.
She turned her gaze away from Nudge as she moved her hand away from her stomach, gritting her teeth to keep in the pain, using that as an excuse not to respond to the little healers comment. Yes, she would have been considered modest for a guy, but for a girl her actions were perfectly normal. The room was starting to sway from side to side in a drunken fashion too, Nicu's gaze seeming unfocused as she watched the opposite wall. Hmm, maybe she had lost a little bit too much blood...maybe storming off down to her cabin to hide from everyone hadn't been the best of idea's seeing as if had just made the blood flow faster. Tsk, she really did need to start thinking before she acted, one of these days she was going to end up dead.
She seemed to flinch back a little as Nudge put her hand to her head before relaxing again. No, she didn't quite know what the other girl was doing, and nor did she care right now as long as she could just make the pain stop, even for a brief period. She even seemed not to have realised that whatever Nudge was doing would probably lead to discovery of her little secret. Well, that was until Nudge started yelling that was.
Nicu narrowed her eyes at Nudge, reaching out to press her bloody hand over the hand that Nudge had already put over her mouth, as if to make sure that she stayed quiet, the movement making her grunt in pain. "Shhhh." She told her, a look of panic in her eyes as she held Nudge's gaze, looking suspicious and untrusting. If Nudge just let it slip once...just said something...anything that suggested that she was female then...then she'd get thrown off the ship. She wouldn't be able to stay here, she'd lose her whole livelyhood. "If you tell anyone I swear I will slit your throat and throw you overboard." She threatened, scowling at Nudge. "If I move my hand you gotta swear, alright?"

Nudge seemed rather surprised as Nicu's hand was clamped over her own, her suggestion that it would probably do her more good to NOT move right now dying in her throat when the sailor started to talk. A muffled sound escaped from under their hands as she tried to tell Nicu that no, she'd never do anything like that, did she look vindictive or untrustworthy? Oh God, what if she looked untrustworthy!? Although none of this really sounded like any recognisable language, the healer finally having to reach up and gently peel her hand from her mouth, setting it back in Nicu's lap and wiping a streak of blood from her cheek. "I said, your secret is safe with me. I'd never tell anyone, not a soul, I swear on my life." she promised, shaking her head. "I'd promise more, but that can wait, you really don't look good at the moment." she frowned, falling silent as she placed her two fingers on Nicu's forehead again.
"I need you to try and stay awake, okay? And I'm sorry for over-reacting... I just... was surprised was all." she murmured, trying to get over the shock of what had just happened, forcing her heartbeat to slow, her mind to focus. This was no time to be all jumpy and skittish despite the fact that she was pretty certain that Nicu had just threatened her. Oh, well, they could talk about that when she wasn't so close to death's door, right? Nudge only spared a small glance at the copious amount of blood now covering Nicu's shirt, the chest and even a few of the floor-boards, moving her free hand to unbutton the shirt a little to reveal the wound. Oh, that was quite nasty, and although his hadn't been dangerously deep it could still obviously cause quite a bit of damage, as had already been proven.
Okay, let's do this, she sighed inwardly as her mind returned to its formerly calm and measured state, closing her eyes as one hand hovered over the wound and the fingertips of the other remained on her forehead. Concentrating, both hands eventually began to pulsate a gentle white again, calling the healing energy up to do her bidding. The little healer began to trace odd shaped runes in the air to begin with, leaving a soft trail of white as she drew them. Eventually they seemed to unlock some kind of energy barrier, allowing Nudge to rest her hand over the bloody wound and finally begin to heal it. The first stop was to chase away the pain from the victim, she remembered that. The only exception to this rule was when it was urgent, and numbing pain would take too much time and endanger their life. Next stop was to knit up the wound, repair any damage done, etcetera. Finally was to replace lost blood, the part which Nudge always found the most tiresome.
A small frown worked its way across her face as she worked, though she didn't falter at all until the wound was nothing more than a light pink line, which would probably fade after a day or so. Then, if Nicu wanted her too she could find the little spell to take away the scar; it would still be fresh, so she could take it away easily. Her eyes opened after about twenty minutes of healing, Nudge smiling rather dazedly as she lifted her hand from the wound, happy (as always) that everything had gone to plan. She blinked a few times before shaking away the haziness; she wouldn't be worn out from that by any means, she could have done it two or three times over without being tired. And day by day she was improving, she couldn't ask for more. "...Feeling better?"

That look of suspicion was still in Nicu's eyes, the girl looking rather unsure about what she was supposed to do right now. If it were anyone else that had found out she would probably end up hurting them, or maybe even killing them, to make sure that her secret didn't spread, but Nudge was different. Firstly, she was only a child, and secondly she almost convinced Nicu that she wasn't going to tell anyone. She guessed that Nudge seemed like a truthworthy person...the only thing was that she didn't seem like the type of person that was able to keep a secret. She would probably slip up and say something that gave everything away, and that would spell trouble for both of them. She even seemed reluctant to move her hand away from Nudge's mouth incase she started yelling, reluctantly allowing her to move her bloodied hand away from her mouth and back to rest in her lap.
She gave a sort of weak...growl in response to the healers words, but for the moment she had no energy for neither arguing nor protesting against being healed. Right now it was hard enough to keep herself awake and alert, her head was spinning and her gaze was terribly unfocused, the cabin swimming in anf out of focus, making her feel rather sick. All this was from a mixture of pain and blood loss, her hand shaking where it was sat in her lap, much to her annoyance, and even though she was covered in warm blood she was feeling rather cold, Oh, that wasn't a good sign, Nudge better hurry up and heal her...and then maybe she wouldn't throw her overboard to make sure that she didn't end up telling everyone that she was, in fact, a girl.
Her gaze drifted down to the blood that was soaking her trousers and dripping down into the floor, watching it rather blankly as she felt Nudge's hand on her head again. She was vaguly annoyed really, this outfit was ruined now...she was actually going to have to change into something else now...did she have something else to change into? Probably, if not she would just have to steal a new shirt and trousers to wear...she couldn't very well walk around stinking of blood until they reached the next port, could she? Not even Nicu would be able to put up with that stink. Sailors weren't the cleanliest of people, and they rarely had the chance to wash, nevermind change their clothing, but when you were covered in blood you tended to make an exception to that rule.
Being healed was the strangest of sensations. The best way she could describe it was a tingling that was focused around the wound...and a strange floating sensation as she was numbed, the pain ebbing away to leave her plesantly numb. Ahhhh, that was better, she wasn't hurting anymore. Her vision slowly becamed focused again, her body heating up once more as her blood was replenished. The feeling of dizziness remained though, that taking much longer to fade away. She turned her gaze up to Nudge as she heard her voice, as if just remembering that she was there. "Yeah...thanks." She mumbled, reaching up to rub at the scar over her eye, a tired little habit of hers. "That was pretty good, maybe ya are good to keep around..."

"Thanks." Nudge smiled rather brightly at Nicu's... well, she supposed it would be Nicu's odd way of giving her a compliment, but all the same it felt nice to be appreciated. "Later, if you want me too I can find the spell to get rid of the scar for you. It's pretty simple, even if it might take a little while to work." she offered as she glanced down at the pink line as though inspecting her own work for the first time, "Or you can leave it as it is, I don't think it will scar badly, since there were no stitches or anything." she murmured, rubbing the back of her head and frowning a little as she thought, and then her gaze finally cleared again. "Either way, it's completely up to you. I don't mind which." she shrugged, moving to pick up her wooden rod again and rub at the smear of blood on her cheek from Nicu's hand.
"And like I said before... treat it as though I never found out. I'll never tell a soul, I promise." she lifted her gaze to meet Nicu's, expression rather serious. Nudge was always deadly serious when it came to promises; promises were meant to be kept, and as far as she could tell she'd never broken one, not on purpose anyway. Usually she'd not like the idea of someone lying to all the people she knew, but she realised now it was more than just petty deceit. Nicu needed to lie, needed people to think she was male, and the little healer couldn't find any ill-will in that at all. You did what you had to and what you could with the circumstances you found yourself in, that was all you could give. "Okay?" she tilted her head after a while, "If I even hint at it you can... throw me overboard or something." she pushed a lock of red hair out of her face, before taking a few steps back. Well, the floor was kind of bloody right now, and just because she didn't mind the sight of blood it didn't mean she forgot it was there.
"Oh, no... sorry about your cabin. I can help to clean up if you want?" she looked at the floor and around the cabin before returning her gaze to Nicu. It was a small cabin after all, and she doubted Nicu liked smelling of blood herself without all of her possessions and the place she slept to smell of it as well. Nudge didn't know any spells to clean things... she wasn't that practical, all she could do was heal, and a few defensive things she'd been taught, like shielding and the like. Otherwise she relied completely on herself, which she didn't mind by any means. "And you didn't have to go and get cut like that, it was only a game of cards, even if you have to keep them all in line." she commented, "Besides that, who stabs someone over a few coins? Geeze."

It was a compliment, or at least it was the closest to a compliment that you could ever hope to receive from Nicu anyway. At least a compliment meant something coming from a person like Nicu, it wasn't as though she would give you an empty compliment just to keep you happy and avoid hurting your feelings, she was brutally honest so something even remotly nice meant the world coming from her. Then again, it also meant that you had to ignore the harsh comments and belittling remarks when they came around aswell. You just had to take the good with the bad, like you did with anyone else. Nudge just had to count herself lucky that Nicu had been bleeding to death when she had uncovered her secret, otherwise she might already be floating in the ocean.
Her gaze fluttered down to the little red line on her stomach and shook her head. "Don't matter, ain't as if it's gonna look out o' place." She mumbled, wiping the blood from her hand on her trouders. She had her fair share of scars, it was an occupational hazard, this new one would just be added to the collection. "Not as if ya can geet rid of 'em all." She rubbed at her eye again before shaking her head once again, pointedly not looking up at Nudge as the subject shifted onto Nudge's trustworthiness. "'kay, but don't ya go thinkin' that I won't throw ya overboard if ya break ya promise." She grumbled, sounding rather reluctant to accept Nudge's promise. Nicu wasn't a very trusting person, trust meant that you had to rely on someone else and relying on other people made her feel...weak. It meant that something was out of her control and she hated that.
"Yeah...cleanin' might be a good idea." She nodded as carefully rose to her feet, as if testing to see if moving hurt or not. "Should change too...don't ya think?" She wrinkled her nose up as she looked down at herself before looking up at Nudge and blinking at her. "Ya can't let people walk all over ya. You either stand up for ya'self or ya fall." She shrugged, as if it were all that simple. "Ya lucky that this ship ain't that bad."

"But I can..." she tilted her head at Nicu at the mentioning of her scars, "I mean, if you wanted me to I could. Even that nasty one over your eye - I don't think I could get rid of it, it looks like an old scar... but I could make it much less noticable, I think." she narrowed her eyes in concentration as her gaze moved over the scar, before she nodded. "Yes. I definitely think I could at least do something for it." she decided, before faltering a little, "Oh. I mean... um... if you want." she smiled weakly, returning to looking around the bloody cabin, wrinkling her nose a little at the state of it. She wouldn't do anything unless Nicu wanted her to, and she supposed she must have been rather used to scars by now, especially if she'd lasted on the ship for this long.
"Oh, you don't have to worry about me breaking my trust." she promised, smiling as she wondered how they'd get rid of all the blood on the floor, "I have nobody to tell, and even if I did I couldn't tell them. I don't break promises." she shrugged. That was still one Nudge's more childish ideals; if you promised something you promised it, and there was no reason to break that trust under any circumstance. That and she was just a cheerful, caring person. She hated the thought of doing anyone harm, and this was no exception. Nicu's threat of throwing her overboard seemed to float over her head as though the other girl had never said it at all, Nudge only folding her arms and pouting down at the floorboards.
"I have no idea how we're going to clean this. Is there a mop or anything outside we could use?" she asked Nicu brightly, looking up at her. "And you've got a strange way of looking at things, Nicu." she giggled, "What about the people who don't need to stand up for themselves, or can resolve things without needing to fight and get stabbed?" she asked, "I guess we just look at things differently... nevermind." she brushed it off, drumming her fingers along the top of the wooden rod absently, rather enjoying the bob and sway of the ship down here. Well, at least she knew she wouldn't get sea-sick.
