"<I see.>" Kamui nodded as she spoke about her machine's personalities. The ball of gears and the clawed contraption had both shown an awareness to their surroundings and the gnome affirmed that they had personalities. Kamui found himself quite intrigued by Breanna's inventions. "<Oh, just a little trick I picked up.>" He said, referring to her hand. "<And I'm not goin' anywhere in particular, just wherever the wind carries me to."

"<A trick?>" she looked down at her healed over hand again as if she was wondering if he meant that literally. If it was a trick perhaps her hand wasn't actually healed... or it would fall off and start laughing at her at any moment. Neither of these things would bring her any particular joy, but it would be undoubtedly interesting, she couldn't deny that.
She smirked detatchedly at his mentioning of going wherever the wind took him, looking up around the shaking walls of the farmhouse. "<I'd be careful about that right now. The wind seems to want to take you in every direction at once, you'd not want to be ripped apart...>" she mumbled, turning to carry on tinkering with the clawed thing, though her mind was elsewhere.
"<Shame, really...>" she murmured, shrugging, "<If you were goin' anywhere in particular I'd have liked to come. Got a few new machines to try out. People just don't walk in the plains like they used to.>"

"<Don't worry, you're hand isn't gonna fall off or anything.>" He commented as the gnome looked over her hand. <"Hmm. No, I suppose I wouldn't wanna be ripped apart."> He sat on the floor and watched her tinker for a few moments. <"You'd 'ave come along with me just like that? How do ya' know I'm not a dangerous criminal, or somethin'?">

"<Oh, I don't.>" she told him cheerfully as he sat on the floor to watch her, smiling rather brightly and humming to herself as she slipped into thought, her light-hearted chuckle echoing around the workshop. "<You could be a murderer, or a dangerous villain or anythin', I s'pose.>" she shrugged, "<But then you did walk in here without knowin' what I was. I could have been just as dangerous as you, y'know?>" she paused in her tinkering, the little clawed contraption half fixed by now as she looked across at him, jade eyes gleaming. "<So ain't it strange, that we're both still here? I go wherever the wind takes me too, I think. The wind just doesn't often leave the farmhouse is all.>"

"<True, true.>" Kamui nodded. A rumbling sound then came from his stomach. "Heh... <'scuse me.>" He began to rummage through his rutsack till he pulled a small cloth bundle from it. He unwrapped it to reveal some hardtack, which he began to chew on after passing a piece to Yibbles. "<Could I trouble you for some water? Terribly dry, these are... maybe a bone or some meat scraps for Sak... In any case, is there anywhere in particular you wanna go?>"

"Hm...?" Breanna glanced across at him, as though she'd already forgotten that he was there, busy thinking of the places beyond the farm-house that she'd never bothered to see.
"<Water...? Oh, yeah...>" she turned to point back into the depths of the building, "<Should be water from the well in a pail back there. I dunno 'bout meat scraps... see what ya can find.>" she offered. The Gnome often forgot to eat on a good day, if she was too wrapped up in her work. She'd no idea what was lurking about in the place she used as a home.
"<I never really thought about goin' anywhere past the Plains.>" she admitted with a light shrug, "<I s'pose one day I might wanna see Ulbrecht. But... I dunno if it'd ever happen.>"

Kamui got up and went in the direction Breanna indicated. He found the pail and crouched down next to it, sniffing at it. 'I wonder how fresh it is... Ah, well.' He dunked the piece of hardtack in the water to soften it and chewed it down. Cupping some water in his hands, he took a sip. He looked around and saw some old cabinets. "<Ulbrecht?>" He called out as he rummaged through the cabinets for something for Sakurako to eat. "<I haven't been down that way for about forty years, give or take. But I can take ya' there, if ya' want. Like I said, I've nowhere else ta' go, an' Ulbrecht is as good a destination as any... Though, there's a good chance of havin' ta' sneak in. As I'm sure ya' know, the soldiers don't let anyone past the gates without the proper papers, which I don't have.>"

By the time he called out to her Breanna seemed to have had a little more luck with getting her little metal-clawed friend to do as she said, currently crouching on the ground as it scuttled about her, snapping its claws playfully. She looked up as he called to her, having to remember what they were talking about.
"<Forty years? Ah, well, you've still been there more than I have, an' that's good enough for me.>" she smirked to herself, rising to her feet now as her contraption began to cut the laces of her boots into little pieces. "<I didn't know, but then soldiers have never been a problem for me before now.>" she smiled cheerfully, climbing up to sit on her work bench and watch her metal friend snap at her feet.
"<I don't have papers either. Sneakin' in sounds good enough. After the storm's passed, o'course.>"

Kamui bit off a piece of jerky he had found in the cabinet and threw the rest to Sakurako, who gobbled it up. "<Yes, after the storm>." He nodded. "<And thanks for the water an' jerky. I hope it's not too much of a bother puttin' us up durin' the storm. Feel free ta' put me ta' work in your workshop while we're here.>"
(Waah. Why is my post size so pathetic lately?)

"<Bother? Nah, why'd it be a bother?>" the Gnome shook her head and glanced up to gaze over at where he was, "<First person in a long time that's come here willingly. Usually have to catch 'em quick before they get too far across the Plains.>" she cackled to herself under her breath, shaking her head. Those silly people. They never got very far, bless them.
"<To work, eh?>" she smiled brightly, kicking at the metal contraption and lifting it from the floor (it had latched onto one of her shoelaces and wouldn't let go) before strolling to the middle of the workshop amidst the lashing rain, looking about for something to do. "<Yeah, I think there's a couple things that need doin'. Now you've come in here willingly, I just don't have the heart to go and test you on somethin'. Nothin's really ready, anyway...>" she shook her head.
((Awwh, it's okay Kamui. You are a man of few words...?))

(That made me laugh out loud. Anywho! I'll get on my reply.)

"<Um... Not sure. I suppose it's 'cuz most people who live in the middle of nowhere like their privacy. Or somethin'.>" He laughed off her remark about catching people as a joke. Though he reconsidered this somewhat after she mentioned not testing stuff on him. It didn't really faze him though. "<What things? I'm an odd-job specialist, ya know.>"
(Yes. A man of few words. That is it.)

"<Nah, I don't live in the middle of nowhere 'cause I like my privacy. It's just 'cause people like me to like my privacy. I quite like people, really. I like 'em even more when they're running about and screaming.>" she smiled a little, brushing a lock of hair out of her face and finally flinging the metal contraption from her foot, sending it scuttling across the floor.
"<A specialist, eh?>" she tilted her head curiously, gazing about the workshop. "<Aah, I know what needs to be done.>" she nodded, drumming her fingers on the work-bench. "<First I think I need to clean up... some things don't work when I invent them. Sometimes they explode.>" she pouted, as though this made her sad.

"<...You're an odd one, ain't cha?>" He said with a grin. "<But, yeah. Odd-job specialist. Like a jack of all trades. Hehe. I'm quite familiar with a broom. Just point me in the right direction of what needs cleanin'. What makes 'em explode though?>"

"<That depends on your definition of 'odd'.>" she shook her head at him, moving away from the work-bench now to stroll into the depths of the barn, where bits of scrap metal and large, half built things sprawled, corpse-like, as though they had fallen there and couldn't get back up. "<I don't think I'm odd. I am a genius.>" she told him simply, her voice full of pride before she glanced over her shoulder to him.
"<But take you, for example. I never saw no human with ears an' a tail like that.>" she shrugged to him, "<To me, you're pretty odd.>" she chuckled, pausing by a particularly large hunk of machinery which blocked their way. "...<I dunno what makes them explode. Sometimes I just think they're suicidal or somethin'. Either that or they didn't build themselves right.>" she told him, before gazing up at him. "<Hey, you think you could move that...?>" she pointed to the heavy piece of machinery.
