"We can both go into a village like this, don't worry..." he assured her, his hands in his lap now, waiting for the burns to clear up a little more before he even attempted to get to his feet, afraid he might just black out again after all that. Instead he worked the black ring from his finger, tucking it into his pocket. At the same time he took the ruby stud from his ear; any way that villagers could recognise him should be disposed of here and now, so it wouldn't trouble him later.
"I can't kill much right now - you can do all of the killing this time, thank you." he told her with a little smile, turning to look at her through the curtain of silver hair; he too was referring to them as 'we', rather voluntarily this time, too. "And just give me a moment... I'll be on my feet in no time." he murmured, this seeming to be to convince himself as much as he was telling her.
A drop of rain landed on the back of his hand soon after he'd spoken, and he pouted softly, white skin glowing through the growing downpour. Allowing himself one more hateful glance at the silver chain, he began to struggle to his feet, managing to seem just that little bit more graceful than a normal human, despite his weakened state.

Evelyn's expression darkened as the downpour began, as if someone had just flicked a switch to make the rain start. It didn't even start in moderation, the sheet of water simply dropped on them and didn't stop, the shape shifter drenched within seconds, hair plastered to the sides of her face, rain drops tinged with red as they collected up the blood from her hair and body, running down to the ground.
"Are you sure that they won't...like...throw stones at us or anything?" She questioned, tilting her head at him as she tugged his coat closer to her body, starting to shiver beneath it, the water not taking long to soak through the coat and let the cold seep through into her body.
She was up on her feet swiftly as he stood up, waiting impatiently for him to regain the ability to walk so that they could go and find shelter quickly. "I don't mind killing everything just as long as we get somewhere warm and dry soon." She nodded, water dripping from the end of her nose as she watched him.

"Even if they do it's not as though we can do much but run anyway, is it?" he shrugged, toppling unsteadily on his feet but managing somehow to hold his balance, his drenched shirt pretty much transparent by now and clinging to his skin; damn silk. He drew himself up to his usual stance once he was convinced he could walk without falling, stepping directly over the chain as if to show that it couldn't keep him down, leading the way upwards from the ledge.
"How did that happen?" he asked her lightly, climbing the first boulders to get to the upper trail, which would hopefully flatten out so it was easier to walk. He was motioning to scars criss-crossing over her legs, seeming curious as he swept back his wet hair from his handsome face. Oh, he hated the rain, but he was determined to get to the damn village if it killed him... or he passed out. Whichever came first.
He turned away to concentrate on climbing while he waited for her answer, the burns on his hands and the minor ones to his chest having faded to little red marks by now, allowing him to grasp the rocks with relative ease.

A light pink flush crept over her pale cheeks as he motioned toward the scars on her legs, biting her lower lip lightly as she tugged at the bottom of the coat, as if willing it to magically grow. Her gaze was on the ground now, shuffling along after him uncomfortably, easily able to keep up with him while he was in his weakened state.
She just...didn't know what to say. She would have scratched someone's eyes out for saying that to her if it were anyone but him, and no, she didn't know why he was the exception to the rule. Should she tell him the truth and have his opinion of her just plummet or...what? Surely Vyncent would see straight through her if she tried to lie to him.
"Punishment." She told him with a weak shrug of her shoulders, still refusing to look up at him, watching her feet splash through the puddles, waiting for him to turn and give her that odd look she was waiting for and ask that dreaded question of 'what punishment?' or 'why would someone punish you?' or one of a million other similar questions.

He had reached the top of the group of boulders by now, pausing to wait for her (and to give himself a rest). The trail stretched ahead of them now, curving up into the mountain where the rain was just getting harder, it seemed. Ohh, he could just picture himself getting ill from this. Brilliant, that on top of all the rest would just just finish him off - he wouldn't even bother to fight it. Illness and Vyncent did not mix.
He seemed confused at her answer, crimson eyes sweeping over her once more and finally settling on the scars again. He couldn't see why someone would punish her... he could see how that had made her how she was, but he couldn't see the reason for it in the first place.
"Who punished you?" he asked after a while, moving from the rocks to trudge off through the pouring rain again, leading the way up through the trail. It was still foggy in the mountains, this combined with the rain making him freezing cold. He didn't hide his shivers as they walked; that would take too much effort, and he was pretty sure she felt just as wretched as he did.

"My Master." Her talkative nature seemed to have vanished in the blink of an eye now, voice only quiet as she responded to him with as little information as possible. He knew now, and now he would just think of her as some pathetic little slave and forget all about her being a real person. He was the only person she had told about her past since escaping...without killing them of course.
She was walking just in front of him as she headed up the trail toward the village, head still down, her shoulders seeming rather drooped. Well, that was cheerful Evelyn gone in an instant, and if he wasn't careful he would end up making her loose her temper with him and then she would just have to kill him, weak or not.
"I didn't behave, so I was punished, thats how it worked." She sighed, rubbing at her neck once more as she spoke, scowling down at the ground. "He punished me and I did everything in my power to go against every last thing he said." There was a hard edge to her voice now, something brutal there in her. No wonder Evelyn was like what she was.

Vyncent smiled as he watched her back, a smile that only he could see, luckily. So that's how it had been, that was why she was so unstable... so much like himself only for much different reasons. He couldn't say he was sorry about what had happened - he wasn't compassionate in the slightest unless it had anything to do with him directly, and even then it wasn't a great deal of compassion.
But that didn't mean he took pleasure out of what she'd been through. He might have, had he been the one to cause the pain, but otherwise he just felt it to be an annoyance, that someone other than him could torture another person. He turned his head to look at the floor, water dripping from his chin and the tips of his hair; he was already feeling awful, the last thing he needed was to feel moody as well as that.
"Where is your Master now?" he pressed for one more question; if she had been tied to her Master as securely as her posture and attitude portrayed, there would be reason to assume he would always be close by, somewhere around. And if he still was, well, he'd have to do something about it. And if he wasn't, that just made it easier.

A grin touched to her features at his next question, turning to look over her shoulder at him. "He made me wear a collar...so I couldn't shift...so I killed him." She paused, as if to think for a moment, before finishing. "Dead." She confirmed, the amusement in her voice really rather disturbing really, especially when couple with that glint in her eyes that suggested she hadn't just killed him, she had tortured him, then killed him...slowly and painfully. She got her revenge.
She shook her wet hair back from her face, her mood still seeming to match the weather, though her back was a little straighter as she walked and she was looking up the trail at least. She was shivering violently beneath his coat, arms wrapped around her though it didn't help much, skin seeming paler than usual from the cold. She might have to shift soon, just to warm herself up a little.
"Is it far, to the village from here?" She questioned, as if to change the subject, unwilling to talk about her past any longer; she had already told him too much.

He seemed amused by her answer, nodding to himself as if confirming some secret assumption he'd made, letting one hand trail along the side of the rock so he was less likely to fall over. "Good." he murmured, lifting his head so that the rain fell onto his face, looking up the trail.
"It shouldn't be much farther... I hope." he told her, picking up his stride so that he was a few paces in front of her, though this didn't last long, Vyncent stopping completely at a bend in the trail, blinking through the downpour at a tiny village a hundred or so paces away. "Seems lonely enough." he muttered, gazing down at himself with a light pout. He still looked too much like a noble. Hmm.
In seconds he'd torn the rest of his shirt in a similar fashion to the strip he'd torn off to tie about his neck, and had unlaced his boots so they were practically falling from his feet. A bright red cut had opened up above his left eye too; also of his own doing, and this coupled with his already haggard appearance made him look pretty much how he felt. Oh, to have to sink this low... nevermind. They'd better have an inn.

Evelyn seemed to have worked herself into a mood by this time, scowling rather dangerously down at the floor as she went, watching the water rush away from her foot every time it stomped down into a puddle, almost seeming to forget all about Vyncent as she became a little carried away by her strop, continuing to walk even after he had stopped, not raising her gaze to even attempt to make out the blurr of the village through the curtain of rain.
She paused at the sound of ripping material, water clinging to her eyelashes as she blinked and looked back over her shoulder at him, wet hair sticking to the sides of her face like a helmet. "What are you doing Vynce?" She questioned curiously, quirking an eyebrow at him. "You look so...common." She informed him and wrinkled her nose up a little, as if to tell him that the look didn't suit him at all.
"Can you please stop playing around? I'm cold now." She pouted, lips tinged with a subtle shade of blue. "I just want to be dry."

"Exactly." he told her breathlessly, the little reserve of energy he'd build up quite rapidly running out, "Common doesn't get noticed." he shrugged, moving to keep up with her and ruffling his silvery hair as he did so; it was much too straight to pull the look off otherwise. They were quickly approaching the village now, where the market was closed because of the rain though various little shops remained open, their owners peering out through the rain.
A few walked to their doors as they saw them approaching, slightly stunned to have outsiders visit their little cove; it was a little unorthadox after all. Luckily, there was a small inn towards the back of the village, Vyncent heading straight for this without even sparing the villagers a glance. Amor was in her sheath in his hand opposed to around his waist; the sword made it a little obvious he wasn't what he seemed, after all.
Wandering in through the heavy oaken doors (and trying to hide how difficult it had been to push the door open) he quickly approached the desk where a middle aged man greeted them kindly. "What c'na do yer for?" he asked, the demon lifting his gaze only fleetingly.
"One room, two beds. A hot bath, even hotter food. Ten minutes." Vyncent commanded, startling the man into action and slamming a few gold coins onto the table with speed that couldn't be human. He may look like a commoner, but he'd be damned to the fiery pits of hell before he started acting like one. "Nine minutes." he hissed when the innkeeper faltered, not thinking he was serious.

Evelyn trotted along after Vyncent, rather like a pet would really, tagging along with him though she seemed more interested in peering around at the village and the people in the shop doorways than making sure that she didn't loose him, green eyes seeming even brighter than usual against her pale skin and the grey backdrop. She hadn't been in a town for so long, she seemed rather suspicious of everyone really, her pupils seeming to retreat into those cat like slits, nails darkening to a black colour, though they didn't extend into claws just yet.
She slunk closer to the demon as they stepped into the inn, pausing behind him with water dripping from...well...everywhere; her hair, her coat, her flesh...she was left with a puddle of rain water gathering around her, which seemed to annoy her, not paying the slightest attention to whatever Vyncent was demanding. This was his type of thing, she was happy to leave him to it and wait for them to get what he wanted.
She began to wring the water from her coat, shaking her head in a rather animalistic fashion to send droplets of water shooting out around her, glittering as they moved through the air. Ugh, she hated being wet.

Vyncent quirked a brow impatiently at the innkeeper as he stirred into action, taking a bundle of keys down from beneath the desk and motioning for them to follow, while the workers around him darted off to fetch what the demon had wanted. "A-and for the lady?" the keeper asked, Vyncent glancing over his shoulder at her with an oddly calm expression on his face.
"Run another bath for her, and find her some clothes... in particular, find a skirt with bells sewn onto the hem of it, and anything else she asks for." he turned back to the man, voice icy again as they wandered up stairs. "Take her measurements if you need to, just don't touch her and hurry up about it." he snarled, watching the keeper unlock the door to a pleasant room with two soft beds on either side.
He tried not to smile as the warmth washed over him, water having been dripping steadily from his clothes for a while now. He nodded curtly instead, stepping into the cosy room and glancing around speculatively. "This will do." he nodded, turning back to the innkeeper who seemed kind of awkward standing there now.
"Y-yes sir, just a moment while I fetch the tailor for your lady-friend." he nodded, disappearing from the room.

Evelyn seemed rather dazed as she followed Vycent into the room, moving over to curl up in front of the fire, seeming happy to sit on the floor as long as she was close to the warmth. "He called me...a lady..." She blinked slowly, seeming totally and utterly bemused by that. No-one had ever ever ever called her a lady before...and she she had been called a lot of things, mainly unpleasant things, but never a Lady, how strange
Her eyes had returned to normal now as she relaxed, nails back their natural colour as she ran her fingers through her hair, turning her face toward the flamed and shutting her eyes, letting the warmth caress her cheeks, her mood seeming to be forgotten, greatly cheered up by being called a Lady for the first time in her life. "And I'd like another skirt with bells, I liked my old skirt...you should have grabbed that when you got your sword..." She told him in a rather off hand manner, feeling the warm chasing the cold from her bones.
"And we get food too? How much money do you have?!?" She asked with a small laugh, turning to look back over her shoulder at him, her fringe having dried and was now hanging back in front of her eyes, peering at him from beneath her hair. "You must be rich, are you sure you're not a real noble?"

"I have enough to get by." he told her lightly, turning away from the door as the innkeeper disappeared, letting the weariness show once more in his face as he leant down to pull off his boots, setting them down by the side of the bed closest to him and choosing that one as his own. "Enough to get away with making these sort of demands anyway." he smirked at her.
"Just leave my coat on the hook behind the door when you've gotten clothes." he murmured, straightening up as the innkeeper returned, forcing the usually natural glare back into his eyes. "Everything is ready for you sir, the tailor is on his way and the maid will bring up lunch in about half an hour." he mumbled to the demon who, surprisingly grinned and patted him on the shoulder.
"Good man," he nodded, "And tell your tailor to make a new shirt like this, minus all of the... well, the everything that shouldn't be there." he motioned to his silk shirt, tugging it over his head in one fluid moment and handing it to the keeper with a flourish. His bare chest held barely a mark considering all of the times he must have been cut; demons didn't scar easily. All that was left was the strip of cloth tied around his neck to heal the burn, and a small cross of a scar that ran over his breast-bone.
"That's all there is to it then." Vyncent concluded, sweeping from the room with all of his usual flair, pausing only once to glance at Evelyn. "Be good." he smirked, before striding off again to take his bath.
