ooc;; Sorry about this one, but he's not really doing much. >_> I'll try to do better next time.
Flick frowned dejectedly, lobbing another stone into the water. Nothing had been going right lately. He hadn’t discovered anything interesting, had almost been caught when he pinched a few coins to buy his next meal, and one of the cogs in his left pistol had worn out. That was the worst of all – he had no idea when he would be able to get a new one, and without both guns he felt horrible vulnerable. So it was in a less-than-perfect mindset that that Flick found himself sitting on a rocky stretch of shoreline somewhere along the Great River, tossing rocks into the swift water, his brain aching with boredom.
That is, until he heard the scream.
At first, Flick thought somebody was hurt, but after the initial confusion of the moment, the noise rearranged itself into words. Then he just laughed. He’d heard that particularly rant numerous times, from Gnomish travelling companions and even, once or twice, from his own mouth. That had been a long time ago – he’d since learned to accept, or at least ignore, the issue of his height.
But his interest had been piqued, and he pushed himself up to a standing position to peer upstream. Sure enough, there was a boat there, drifting languidly in the current. If he counted correctly, there were thee occupants – one of whom, he noticed with a grin, with the trademark stature of a gnome.

Evelyn looked totaly and utterly confused as the little person screamed, looking mildly horrified as if she couldn't quite work out what she had done wrong. Poor, innocent little sheltered Evvie, she had thought that this 'F' place was a village or something...how she she supposed to understand and make the link between that word and gnomes. Hell, the shifter didn't even know what a gnome was. To her Nefywn just looked like a small person...and her comment had been innocent enough. How was she supposed to know that small people could be these gnome things as well as children, that was all just too confusing for her to grasp. Plus, we have to remember that Evelyn was a slave and the education that she received was...well...none existant.
She took a few steps back away from the gnome, as if expecting her to explode any second now, pushing her hand back through her wet hair as she blinked. "Um...but...Vynce...?" It was almost pleading as she turned her gaze to the demon, as if expecting him to explain what had just happened. Oh wait...Vyncent looked mad with her too. "But...what did I do?" She pouted and huffed, stalking over to go sit by the engine and poke at it with that thin metal rod that she had found. "I suppose I'm sorry for talking...I'll just be quiet now..." She muttered.

Nefwyn stared at Evelyn, with the sort of interest on her face as a scientist might have when studying a new aspect in his experiment. She looked honestly confused, as if she really didn't know what she did that was so wrong. Perhaps she thought it was okay to insult the height of others? No, it was much likelier that she hadn't known what Gnomes were, however small the chances of that were. Perhaps she didn't travel as much as Nefwyn had assumed she did. She instantly felt guilty.
"Er... Evvie, had you really not heard of a Gnome up until now?" she said, edging closer to the girl with an apologetic look on her face. Oh, how this woman had a big heart. "Well, I thought you were a tiger at first, and I called you an 'it', so why don't we call it even, huh?" She smiled assuringly, that infectious glimmer reflecting in her eyes. "I apologize. I just... really hate it... when people call me short. But it's just unbelievable that you've never heard of a Gnome! Not even in stories or songs? We don't wander from our homeland that much." She noticed the woman's prodding with the thin metal rod was getting a little too close to the... "Oh! Watch those gears!" she shouted, but perhaps it was too late...
The rod got lodged between the gears, preventing them from turning while the rest of the motor continued on, and thus causing an overheat and eventually a loud crackling sound. Then a vrooooooooom, vroooom, vroooom as it died.
"Oh dear. Here, I'll fix...," she said, reaching for her tools. Of course, they had been stolen too. "WHAT?! Those monsters took my tools? My tools?! How could... how...?!" She looked as if she might faint. "Erm... I hope you have a pair of oars." She looked up at Vyncent, unsure of how he might react.

Oh, that simply made his day. First of all, they'd had to run for their lives in the middle of the night, plummet down into the valley between the Twin Mountains and escape onto a BOAT no less, to begin this hell-journey down the Great River. And now there was a Gnome shouting about tools and height, he had no idea how far behind the guards who'd been chasing them were... and Evelyn; his 'partner-in crime', his companion, she had killed the boat. If you looked closely enough, you could practically see the little glint in his eyes that said he'd lost his temper, giving a rather forced smile at the mentioning that they'd better have a pair of oars.
"Evelyn." he purred, the hand resting on the hilt of his sword clenching into a fist, "Come here, would you?" Oh, there was that twisted little smile again, this time simply begging her to get close enough for him to throw into the water. It was only the fact that they were surrounded by water that stopped him pulling a real tantrum.
It wasn't surprising really, it had been at least a day now since they'd last had a really heated argument. He wouldn't kill the shifter, of course not; they never seriously harmed each other anyway... they just seemed to know exactly how to get on each others' nerves. Vyncent hardly noticed Nefwyn now, his focus was mainly on the shape-shifter. Damn it, he would throw her into the water himself (despite the fact that he knew she hated being touched) and make her pull the boat!

"I don't know stories or songs, no-one ever told me about those." She mumbled with a pout. It was true, the only stories she knew were the ones that Vyncent told her when he was in an extreamly good mood, and most of those centered around himself rather than epic tales of good deeds and Gnomes. She had been a slave, it wasn't as if her childhood had been fullied with fantasy and games, more like hard work and nightmares. "I've never heard of Gnomes, before now..." She confirmed, glancing up to Nefwyn, "But I have now so I know you're not a child so it's all ok." She smiled rather brightly, her mood seeming to have swung back to the cheerful end of her spectrum of emotions.
She blinked as she felt the metal rod get stuck in the gears, turning her attention back to the motor too late. She squeaked as it chugged and banged, a puff of black smoke emitting from it before the engine fell silent, the shifter coughing as she rose to her feet. "Oh...oopse..." She looked worried as she ran her hand back through her drying hair, her gaze flickering up to Vynce, recognising that tone of voice all too well. "You're not throwing me in the water!" She exclaimed, waving that metal rod at him as if to keep him back over there away from her. "Nope, you're not throwing me in the water we'll just have to...drift down stream?" SHe suggested, slowly backing up as far away from the demon as she could get.

"How frightening," Nefwyn muttered to Evelyn, staring at Vyncent with wide, wary eyes. She cleared her throat, trying to catch the demon's attention. Was this brave heroics, or stupidity? Or perhaps just ignorance of what Vyncent was capable of doing to those he disliked? "Erherm. Vyncent, Evelyn, it's senseless arguing. We don't want this boat to keep drifting. Who knows when we'll reach the sea that it flows into? We don't want to be on a boat this size when a squall rises up from the sea, do we? I think Evelyn would be much more likely to shift into an animal that could steer us to shore if we chose not to throw her into the water, right?" She smiled nervously.

Flick couldn’t help but listen to the few short snatches of conversation that made their way across the water to where he was standing on the shore. It was interesting, to say the least, possibly because the only comments loud enough to reach his ears where the shouted ones. However, when he put them together with the actions of the strange fellowship in the boat, he got what he hoped was a reasonably accurate picture of events. It made him laugh.
So the girl who seemed to spend half of her time as a tiger – Evelyn, was it? – had somehow managed to break their motor, if the gnome’s cries where anything to go by. And she, apparently a tinkerer like him, had been relieved of her tools by bandits. So she couldn’t fix the boat, and they were doing their best to get the girl to change into something useful and pull them to shore. From the threatening expression on the third figures face, Flick guessed that he didn’t like the water – that, or just desperately wanted to get where he was going. But even if they did come ashore, they’d have to travel by foot, and depending on their destination that could take up to a week longer.
His fingers crept onto the tools strapped to his belt in anticipation as the boat was swept closer to him. Finally, when one of the unpredictable eddies the river was famous for tossed the boat closer, Flick decided to call out to them. Maybe he could be of assistance?
“Are you right?” he shouted. It was a slightly ambiguous statement, but surely the gnome girl, if none of the others, would get his meaning.

Nefwyn was in a rather agitated state. She had been robbed, tossed into a river with numerous wounds, somehow survived and been pulled aboard a boat containing two strangers (one of which made a remark upon her height, but that was forgiven now), and now the motor was broken down and one of the strangers looked as if he would be quite happy with his companion's drowning in a river right now.
Flick's voice broke the eerie silence that passed after her last remark. She turned and saw another Gnome on shore as she comprehended what he had just asked.
"Rod jammed in between the gears!" she called to him, smiling from ear-to-ear. "I don't know, but I'm guessing the gears have some hefty damage, and there's probably a few other problems due to the overheating." She spun around to face Evelyn. "Would you please take us to shore, Evvie?" she asked rather politely. "That Gnome might be able to help us. Wouldn't you like to see another Gnome?" She grinned nervously, hoping that Evelyn would jump at the chance to throw some ice water on the fiery temper that was no doubt stirring in Vyncent and that Flick could fix the motor. Not because she particularly cared for the boat to be running, but because it would be intriguing to find another tinkerer.

"The SEA!?" Vyncent looked as if he would joyfully murder someone. He wasn't intending to go to the sea, or anywhere near there - he didn't even know where the boat was going to take them, as long as it was far, far away from whoever had chased them. Given a little more time, he supposed, he would have shown slightly more interest in their destination, but as it was with the boat's motor commiting suicide (and his temper flaring up as it had done) he wasn't thinking much past getting to shore.
He looked up at the sound of another voice, blatantly ignoring Nefwyn's attempts to dispel his irritation, swiftly stepping past her as he glanced over at Flick. He lifted a brow rather curiously as the two gnomes had this little exchange - well, if you were going to have your shapeshifter destroy your boat, how much luck could you have when two gnomes, BOTH tinkerers just happened to appear at the water's edge... or, well, water's depths if you were Nefwyn. That disturbed, quirky little smirk lit up his face at the repeated mentioning of Evelyn taking them to shore, the demon slowly glancing around at the shapeshifter.
"Yes, Evelyn, it would be very helpful for you to take us to shore." his voice was surprisingly calm, compared to his expression when the shifter was lifted all to easily by the scruff of her neck, carted to the prow of the boat and thrown, quite gracefully into the waters. His smile grew a little wider then, standing now with one foot on the prow of the boat, looking like the insane captain of the little vessel. Well, was there ever any doubt that he wasn't going to get her in the river somehow?
"C'mon, Evelyn. Pull the boat. PULL. THE. BOAT." he called to her, arms folded. He hadn't really given much thought as to HOW she'd manage to do this, but thinking ahead wasn't really his main priority right now.

"But I already got all wet today, and now I am cold." She pouted rather childishly to the Gnome, having no intentions of doing anything to soothe Vyncent's temper. It was his own silly faut for being angry, and if he had asked her nicely then she might have even shifted into a dragon and carried him to the shore. But nope, the demon had let his tempre flare and that meant that Evelyn would, as usual, dig her heels in and resist doing anything to help their situation. "He could swim across." She nodded as she folded her arms over her chest, as if that really were the most logical option facing them.
She squeaked in surpirse as Vyncent lifted her up, struggling in vain to try and make him release her. "No...Vynce...PLAY NICE!" She yelled as she was thrown into the water, arms pin wheeling before she splashed into the chilly and rather fast flowing waters of the river. She seemed less than impressed as her head bobbed back up from the depths, hair plastered to the sides of the face. "And how am I supposed to do that? What do you expect me to hold on to?" She huffed before shifting into a little, red duck to float just in front of the boat, chasing after her clothes as they drifted off down stream, catching them in her beak to try and tug them back to the boat for wither Vyncent or Nefwyn to scoop out of the water for her.

Nefwyn leaned over the boat with her short arms, picking up the clothes and wringing them out over the water before folding them neatly and setting them aside.
"Have you no rope?" Nefwyn asked Vyncent. "If I had my whip, I'd ask her to turn into something with a tail, wrap the whip around the boat's front, and have her grip the handle in her animal form's mouth to steer us ashore. And she can't really push us to shore, she wouldn't be able to steer, and that's a rather crucial thing to consider with this current." She looked over the edge of the boat. "Something with a long tail that maybe Vyncent could hold onto?" she inquired hopefully.

ooc;; I wasn't sure if it was my turn or not, but nobody had posted for ages and it ended up like you were all waiting for me. Sorry! I fail at being a good roleplay buddy. And he's still not doing much, so another boring post.
Flick waded forward into the swift current slightly, straining invisibly to catch every word uttered in the boat. Thankfully the boat was still relatively close to his shore, and so he managed to hold onto some idea of what was happening in the boat. He gasped – and then did his best not to laugh – when the thin man (Vynce?) threw the girl (who he knew was Evelyn) into the water. She seemed ever so slightly peeved by the ordeal, but the man didn’t seem to care much at all. The gnome was far more sympathetic, but it appeared she too had her mind more set on getting the boat to him and his tools.
Flick shifted forward again – by now the water was up to his waist (although as a gnome, that really didn’t mean much). Maybe he should just swim – the water might clog the gunpowder in his pistols, but that could be dried out again and he didn’t really have anything else that would be permanently damaged by the water. He’d had to sell a lot of his trinkets just to stay alive – a dire situation, but in times like these it had its advantages.
“Should I swim over?” he called, still unsure.

((Awh, 'tis okay Flick. I'm tryin' to figure out the order we RP in... but it's all kind of random. All I know is that I'm gonna go after you now, and I think Ink is after that. O.o))
"Do I look like a person who commonly carries rope with them?" Vyncent looked over his shoulder to gaze down at Nefwyn, that crazed (yet disturbingly excited) little gleam still present in his eyes. "You wanted her in the water with the ultimate goal of getting us to shore. As far as I'm concerned, I've done my part, and we're lucky that I didn't hold her under." he smirked down at Evelyn now; as well as they usually got on together, everyone had days like this. It just so happened that today he'd be winning this odd game of theirs, considering that the shapeshifter was the one who murdered the boat's motor to begin with.
He glanced up then as he caught Flick's voice between the rush of the current, holding his gaze for a few moments before eventually turning his attention to the deck of the little vessel, as if searching for anything that may be useful. No such luck. He lifted a hand to signify that the Gnome should stay where he was - no point in complicating the matter further. "If Evelyn tries to steer the front of the boat, I can propel us to shore." he suggested with a light shrug. It was bordering on scary the way his temper just flared up and disappeared again in seconds, the demon walking to the far end of the boat, where the broken motor was. "Any objections?"

Evelyn didn't seem thrilled with any of these plans, mainly because all of them involved her being in the water and dragging the boat. What did they think she was? Some sort of strange water horse? Humph, she would get Vynce back for this, she didn't know how yet, but her revenge would be horrible and he might have to hide away from Vyncent for a few days to make sure that he didn't kill her for it. Awweh, Vyncent and Evelyn had a really healthy friendship didn't they? All friends tried to kill each other now and again, right? Of course they did.
She seemed to be ignoring Nefwyn, not looking at her as she spoke. She did, however, shift into her large tiger form and growl irritably as she flicked her tail up over the railing of the boat, turning to look at them and snap her teeth, as if to say that if they tugged on her tail she would bite their fingers off...and maybe eat them or something just so they couldn't stick them back on or anything.
Her ear flicked as she listened to Vynce's plan, curling her tail around the railing that ran around the edge of the boat, starting to attempt to paddle toward the river banks, but dragging the boat along was even hard in this form, and she wasn't getting very far very quickly.

Nefwyn cowered under Vyncent's words as he spoke to her, feeling rather small (er, smaller than normal).
"No objection," she said to Vyncent. She hadn't really heard his plan in all that was going on, but she was quite sure that whatever it was, she dared not object. She moved to the middle of the boat and plopped down so that she'd be out of the way. "Just wait there," she called to Flick, her hands cupped around her mouth to direct the noise, "we're going to try something." She relaxed against the boat and exhaled with relief that Vyncent hadn't slit her throat. He had quite a dangerous face when he was angry, and she thought that he could have tempted small children into suicide with that strange smile of doom etched across his face.
