"Oww..." Kamui said slowly, his cheek beginning to throb. "I wasn't lyin'..." While he remained calm, Sakurako became enraged when Roslyn struck Kamui. Her heckles raised and fangs bared, the wolfdog snarled viciously. She took a threatening step toward Roslyn. "<Hey! Control your mutt, or get out!"> Yelled the bartender. Kamui leaned forward and put a gentle hand on Sakurako, stroking her soft white fur. Her anger quickly dissipated and she sat back down next to Kamui's chair. 'Could she not know about herself?' He though, looking up at Roslyn.

"You have to be lying." she narrowed her eyes at him, stepping away from the table and leaving the cards where they were, somehow ignoring Sakurako even though her snarl was brutal enough that Roslyn thought it had managed to rattle her bones around. "How could you know? Not even I know." she hissed, stepping away from the table. Rain or no rain, she swept across the tavern, her fortune telling forgotten, and moved outside. It was raining hard, but she didn't really care. Her thoughts were completely scrambled up. "Damn it." she muttered, tugging her cloak about herself.

"Hey, wait..." Kamui raised his hand, as Roslyn stepped back. He didn't really have time to answer before she turned away. "Wait a sec..." He called after her, but she was already on her way out of the tavern. Standing and gathering up the tarot cards, he followed her. Before he stepped out into the rain, he put the deck in an inside pocket of his vest to keep them from getting wet. Kamui spotted her cloaked figure through the sheets of rain and caught up to her, caring little about getting wet. Yibbles seemed to enjoy the rain, too, unlike Sakurako who disliked getting her coat messy. "Hey, ya' left your cards. I brought 'em for you." He called over the rain, coming up behind her. "An' not ta' go all 'old master' on you, but search your feelings. Haven't ya' ever felt... different?"

Roslyn had been stalking through the streets with the intention of finding an inn to stay for the night out of the rain, or to head out of Idaitokai altogether, whether by the nearest ship or on foot. It didn't particularly bother her. She winced as she sensed Kamui coming up behind her, stopping in her tracks and keeping her head down, rain dripping from the tips of her raven hair. "Of course I've felt different." she snapped to him, although the venom in her voice was dampened by the pouring rain. She glanced over her shoulder, eyes flashing as she gazed back at him. "But I don't know why that is, and I refuse to belief that I could be half demon of all things, without having any proof." she told him.
"As for the cards, consider them a gift." she shook her head, tugging the hood of her cloak up.

(Waaah! I'm sorry, I didn't realize you replied.)
He wasn't put off by her words or expression. He jogged in front of her, sloshing through a puddle, and stopped. He took removed his necklace. Holding it out by the chain, the cross dangled in the air, droplets of water splashing off it. "Touch the cross."

((It's okay ^_^))
Roslyn froze as he appeared in front of her, scowling through the rain and tilting her head. "You just don't give up, do you?" she pouted at him prettily, seeming as though she would just walk around him when he removed his necklace, the fortune teller looking dubiously at the cross that dangled in the air in front of her. She didn't know why, but she didn't particularly want to follow his instruction.
"Fine," she muttered eventually, reaching out to touch her hand to the silver cross, only to whip it back again instantly, fingertips scorched by the metal. "That doesn't mean... it doesn't mean anything," she objected, covering her burnt fingers with a lace handkerchief. "Why do you wear that if it will burn you?" she enquired.

"Nah, I don't." He said, grinning in response to her remark about not giving up. He watched as she touched the cross, then quickly jerked her hand away. Carefully putting the necklace back on, he said, "Yeah. It doesn't mean anythin'... except that you have demon blood. As for why I wear it? A hammer can crush your finger, but people still use them. A sword can cut its owner, but people still keep them at their side."

"...And apparently a cross can burn you, but for some reason that's as useful as a hammer or a sword," Roslyn lifted a brow at him disbelievingly, tying the corners of the handkerchief into a secure little knot to hold the fabric around her hand. "Demon blood..." she repeated, frowning at the cross and letting out a heavy sigh. "So it's true, then," she gazed away from him. Now that she had the information, she didn't quite know what to do with it. "What do I do from here?" she questioned through the rain.

"Yes, it can burn me, it can burn you." Kamui said. "It can also burn any other ill-tempered demon that wants ta' start a fight." He tiled his head, looking at her for a moment before shrugging. "Now I teach ya' how ta' be a proper half-demon..." He answered her, then grinned. "Nah, just kiddin'. Don't ask me what ta' do. You tell me what ya' wanna do... Now, may I see your hand?"

Roslyn quirked a dark brow as he told her his reasoning behind the cross necklace, tilting her head. A faint smirk tugged at the corners of her mouth. From looking at Kamui, she hadn't expected that kind of cunning. "My hand...?" she tilted her head at him, frowning a little before holding out her hand to him rather reluctantly.
"I don't know what to do now... so I have demon blood in me. I still don't know what I am... I just know what I'm not," she put in with a light shrug, gazing up at the rain. "I suppose I'd like to get somewhere dry," she murmured.

He reached out, holding his open hand over hers. For a few seconds a soft light emanated from his palm, falling over her hand. "There", he said with a smile, "You can remove the handkerchief." Sakurako looked up at Kamui, who caught her gaze. Yibbles was having fun splashing in a nearby puddle, but the bedraggled wolfdog wanted to get out of the rain. "Sak wants ta' dry off, too... Now, I know some stuff about demonic lore, if you have questions." He grinned. "Also, I'd still like that tarot readin'."

Roslyn looked down at her hand as he healed it, seeming rather bemused when he asked her to remove the handkerchief. She did so, examining her hand and turning it over, as if looking for a burn that was no longer there. "So you're a half-demon who heals...?" she tilted her head at him. "You defy all logic about half-demons, you know," she informed him softly, using her now healed hand to push her drenched hair out of her face. Her gaze flickered to Sakurako, and a ghost of a smirk flitted across her face. The wolfdog didn't look best pleased with the rain either.
"All right, let's get inside. I do have some questions..." she nodded, beginning to continue down the street now at a slower pace, so it didn't seem as though she was striding away from him any more. She smiled at the suggestion of a tarot reading. "Very well," she nodded. "Where would you like to go?"

Kamui shrugged and looked around. "It doesn't matter to me. What about there?" He pointed to a small noodle shop just down the street.
(Crap. That sucked. Sorry.)

((S'okay, you just got back, you're a little rusty. xD))
"That looks fine," she nodded, leading the way down the street and avoiding the puddles of rainwater, even if her feet were already soaked because she was barefoot. She ducked into the noodle shop out of the rain, water dripping from the tips of her hair. She tried to wring out her clothes in vain, straightening herself out and looking over her shoulder for Kamui. "So what's the difference between a half demon and a full demon...?" she asked.

The small restaurant had an earthen floor covered by cheap straw mats. A counter separated the dining area from the kitchen, where large cauldrons on a charcoal stove set forth enticing scents of broth made with garlic, soy sauce, miso, and scallions. An old man stood behind the counter and two women were working the kitchen.Kamui inhaled as he entered, taking in the delicious odors. He called to the man behind the counter in Hagakarinese, "<Two house specials please.> "Sitting down on one of the mats on the far wall, he beckoned to Roslyn. Sakurako sat next to him and Yibbles settled on his lap. "So, what's the difference between a half-demon an' a full-demon?" Kamui began, "Well, there are some key differences. For starters, you an' me have a soul. As you may or may not know, all beings native to the Lower, Upper, and Inner Planes are at least partially composed of the essence of their respective plane. As such, they do not have the dual natures mortal creatures have. Their body and soul form a single unit. When they are slain, no soul is let loose. Collectively, they are called outsiders by scholars. Half breeds, like you an' me, are collectively referred to as native outsiders, beings with mortal ancestors and/or a strong connection to the Material Plane, which is where we are now of course. Oftentimes they are native to the Material Plane, as the term suggests. This goes for half-demons, as well as half-celestials, half-elementals, an' any other half-breed with a single outsider parent. As for things more readily apparent, native outsiders tend to be more human-like in their appearance. Some do take after their outsider parent more strongly then others, but almost all of them have at least a few physical traits that aren't the norm for the mortal parent's race." He paused for a moment to swish his tail back and forth. "In any case, unlike outsiders, native outsiders have a finite life-span, though it is, usually, great in comparison to most mortal races, up there with the Elves. In most cases, native outsiders also need ta' sleep an' require physical sustenance ta' sustain themselves, just like regular mortals... Speakin' of that..." The old man was coming toward them with a tray holding two bowls. Kamui gave him his last coin and took one of the bowls and a pair of chopsticks. "Ooh. Kitsune udon..." He began to nosily slurp the noodles.
(Whoo. Give Kamui something to ramble about and I can do a more decent sized post. Most of what he said is from D&D by the way.)
