Out of Character:
Name: ink
Other characters: Angel, Princess Aurora, Evelyn Paynter, Kevay Taylor, Etoile De Vaux and Pari Kashani
In Character:
Name: Amaya Ashikawa
Aliases: Night Rain or simply Rain
Age: Nineteen
Race: Vampire
Gender: Female
Occupation/Class: Vampire Slayer and Monster Hunter(she realises the irony)
Orientation: Heterosexual
Physical Description: Monsters came in all shapes and sizes; Amaya just happened to be one lurking behind the appearance of a rather pretty young lady. Thick, loose chocolate coloured curls cascade down over her shoulders, strands of auburn and gold glinting in the light. Her eyes are large and shaped like almonds, the irises coloured a clear, warm amber; unusual and striking to say the least. Her eyes were her most dangerous and versatile weapon, framed with thick lashes. Couple her eyes with full, pouting lips and Amaya looked far too dainty and pretty to be a monster, but you would be wrong to underestimate her.
She stands around 5''8, rather tall for a woman though her frame is unmistakably feminine, with a slender waist and hips that flared out. Long, willowy limbs meant that that she was able to move with a fluid grace, muscles trim and toned from her training. Amaya’s the type of woman who knows just how to swing her hips in order to catch someone’s' attention, one who knows how to bite her lip and flutter her eyelashes in order to get what she wanted. What was the point in being pretty if you didn't know how to use it to get exactly what you wanted?
Personality Description: A rather unfortunate turn of events has flipped all of Amaya’s morals and beliefs on their heads, and honestly she is still struggling to accept the new way things were. She is stubborn and head strong, not open to new ideas, which make change difficult for her. She’s been fighting it tooth and nail, but it isn’t helping. You see, her family has been slaughtered. Her life has been ripped apart at the seams and she has just been killed by a monster she was more than half sure that she had been falling in love with. Given that she has been brought up on black and white morals, accepting herself as a monster is a challenge in itself. The circle of self-loathing is a vicious one.
For the outside world she wears a mask of self-assurance and superiority. Yes, she thinks that she is better than you, and she has no qualms about manipulating people to get what she desires. People are a means to an end and she finds it difficult to trust and respect other people. She had no close female friends, and much prefers her own company to being forced out into the world with a fake smile. Friends are far too much work and far too much of a liability. The only people she keeps around herself are useful ones. It makes her sound cold, but that’s not it. She just knows how to get the job done.
Since her death, her mood has been pretty volatile. There is a slow burning desire for revenge in her heart, but her problem is that she has no idea where to direct it. Throw in an unhealthy sprinkle of self-disgust, a hearty dose of guilt and a dash of complete loneliness and the end result isn’t pretty. It doesn’t help that she hasn’t had a moment’s peace to try to figure things out. Her words can either be spun with silk or laced with acid depending on her mood and sarcasm is her best friend. In fact, she is likely to lash out at those that try to get too close to her and push them away.
Alignment: Previously lawful good, but with all the upheaval she’s currently leaning more towards chaotic good.
Likes: Darkness, leather, her swords, training, lace, rain, puzzles, roses…
Dislikes: Vampires, balls, mirrors, loud colours, damsels in distress, small spaces…
History: The Ashikawa family is already steeped in legend, but nobody knows the true extents of its secrecy. Affluent, wealthy and more than a little eccentric, the family keep themselves shut off from the outside world, appearing aloof whenever they appear in public. Everyone knew that they did something vital, that was never questioned, but people didn’t seem to be able to put their finger on just why the family were so important. They also seemed to die pretty often, or get gravely injured. It was just one of those things that you knew not to question. To be honest, people didn’t really want to know the answers. Who wanted to know that vampires were stalking around in the shadows?
The burden of the secret was heavy, but the Ashikawa’s had broad shoulders. The family was close knit, though it grew smaller and smaller as generations passed. Still, their achievements were unrivalled. So when Amaya was born to Daisuke and his new bride Ianthe she had some large shoes to fill.
Amaya was destined for greatness, an expectation which was set early on. While the other children were out playing she was training; the other girls had dolls and she had daggers, they were fantasising about getting married and she was obsessing over her first hunt. She was from a totally different world and she struggled to even attempt to enter their world.
At fifteen her first hunt went off without a hitch, her prowess as a slayer growing from there. Amaya didn’t fear the darkness, nor did she fear what lurked within it. Even amongst her elders her skill was celebrated, but it was obvious that things couldn’t run so smoothly for much longer.
Practically the whole of the Ashikawa clan was wiped out in one night. Her parents were holding a celebration for their twentieth wedding anniversary. How they actually got in was still a mystery, but Amaya had her suspicions. All she knew was that they had been caught completely off guard and had been completely out numbered. It was a blood bath. The vampires got in and they killed everyone, absolutely everyone, but her. It was sheer luck that she got out of there alive, and the help of a certain vampire.
Things went from bad to worse. A series of events lead to her death, and worse, her continuing life. The vampire who had been helping her ended up forced into biting her and from there things spiralled out of control. She turned. She couldn’t bring herself to do the decent thing and kill herself. Surviving as a baby vamp and a vampire slayer at the same time is a delicate equilibrium which is currently taking up all of her time.
Strengths: Light footed and naturally elegant, Amaya can slip through the shadows swiftly and silently, stalking her prey. Training from an early age means that combat is instinct for her, movements flowing naturally rather than being over thought. This is only enhanced by the vampiric virus. Now unnaturally fast and capable of feats of strength that she could only have dreamt of before. Up to now she hasn’t pushed the limits of these new abilities, but she knew what to expect. Enhanced senses, immortality, rapid healing, night vision; the usual really.
Aside from her physical abilities, Amaya is sharp witted and intelligent. She likes to get her teeth into a good puzzle and thrives under pressure. She has a knack for working people out and finding out which buttons to press in order to get what she needed out of them. Resourceful and realistic, Amaya doesn’t allow herself to live in a dream world. She always knew the dangers of hunting and now she had no-one to blame but herself for what had happened, as difficult as that was to grapple with.
After all, Amaya is one thing; she’s a survivor.
Weaknesses: Psychologically the change has left her reeling. She’s seen it a million times, baby vampires who’d gone mad because they couldn’t adapt, and she was trying to survive, but every fibre of her being was resisting. Her morals had been shattered and the guilt of dishonouring her family like this was almost all consuming. Almost. She was clinging onto sanity with her fingertips, managing to cope as best she could no matter how dysfunctional her life was. Or afterlife, if you are being pedantic.
The new abilities have their obvious draw backs too; vulnerability to sunlight, allergy to silver, inability to go near anything religious. Being faster and stronger made her clumsy at times as she was unused to it; Amaya wasn’t used to having to doubt her own abilities or reign herself in. The bloodlust was the horrid and impossible to ignore no matter how stubborn she was, but what was worse was that she sort of liked the kill.
Magic: None
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Amaya carries two enchanted swords. They are slightly shorter than usual and the blades curved, inlaid with silver runes to strengthen them and protect the edges from damage. The hilts were inlaid with pure silver too to prevent them being used by vampires, which turned out to be a problem. Unwilling to part with her slayer blades, Amaya had wrapped the hilts in thick, rough cloth to protect her from the silver.
