Name: Lin Renka
Aliases: The Pyrotechnic, Pyromaniac
Age: 23
Race: Khajiit
Gender: Female
Occupation/Class: Pyrotechnic and part time Bard
Orientation: Straight
Physical Description: A smallish cat-like anthropomorph. Renka’s fur is of a creamy color with brown on her face, tail, ears and hands and feet. Her mop of human hair is also a creamy pale color worn in a sidesweep that partially covers her right eye and cut short, the bangs slightly longer to either side of her face. The hair also covers some burn marks on her face. Lin’s slanted black eyes and fur coloring show she is of Ri Yanese blood. Lin wears a mixture of eastern and western garb, usually a wide-sleeved top and leggings or short pants as well as her unusual lace-up boots. At the belt at her waist she keeps pouches of supplies for mixing her pyrotechnic explosives, and at her back is a satchel of other supplies such as bombs and essentials and her trusty mandolin-like Yueqin instrument that doubles as a weapon thanks to some adjustments.
Personality Description: Lin is a fairly mellow soul despite her love of things that go “Boom.” She does not care to be called a pyromaniac since she strives to keep her explosives under control at all times. An explosion that sets off an unplanned fire is a failure in Lin’s notebook and one that sets of a necessary fire is a necessary evil. Lin loves to travel and meet people, she’s always ready to stick up for the underdog though at times this tends to turn into an annoying habit of following after loners who would prefer to remain alone. Lin isn't necessarily a gabby gums but she doesn't always appreciate silence. Like most of a feline class Lin does have quite the curiosity and being small she can often get away with acting like a child if she so chooses. Lin also is not above shady work such as blowing locks to get at treasure if she’s in need of some quick money. She usually tries to pick out a target who “deserves“ to be robbed but it can be difficult when time is tight. Lin loves to learn anything that can be hands-on; reading and theory not so much though she does love a good epic or old legends, especially of the golden age.
Alignment: Chaotic good
Likes/Dislikes: Loves Gnome technology, creating new bombs, a good cup of tea, playing her native Yueqin instrument, listening to old tales of lore, being productive and doing hands-on work. Dislikes pyromaniacs (So primitive!) and wetness, traveling alone, being looked down on (Sometimes literally), especially by those she deems to be snobs.
History: Originally born in Ri Yan to a family of firework makers Lin was brought up around explosives her whole life. Lin became enamored with a little clockwork toy her parents bought her for her eighth birthday. When she learned that it was gnome-made she had to see more and vowed to travel the world, seeking out the gnomes and other peoples, to see what else had been invented out there outside her homeland. Although she loved working with her family Lin wanted to do more with explosives than just make pretty things, she wanted to make it useful. Several years and experimentations later and some burns to show for it, Lin had completed her first line of bombs. She tried to show them to the town leaders and get them marketed but everyone thought they were far to violent and dangerous an item. Defeated in that revenue Lin decided once and for all to set out into the world and show everyone what her explosives could do. With her trusty Yueqin by her side she set out.
It wasn't long before Lin had her first encounter with bandits. She fought well for a first timer, even sacrificing her instrument, but in the end all her supplies were taken from her and with a heavy heart she returned home. She was barely 16 at the time. Her father took pity on her and had her enrolled in self defense classes for a year before she tried to set out again. With a new instrument as a farewell present Lin set out wiser and more prepared to face the world.
Since her beginning Lin has met with various Gnomes and even had her Yueqin specially enhanced to be both an instrument and a club, thanks to their technology.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Lin has a strong arm but being small she works best when she can get a short fuse bomb between herself and her enemies. Lin excels at demolition but her more delicate work could use some more practice such as blowing a lock without damaging the good behind it. Lin is sometimes a little dense when it comes to people’s feelings, often not seeing right away that her presence is not wanted or that she said something she should not have.
Magic: N/A
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Sandpaper on her fingers to set a quick fuse. Short fuse bombs for instant explosions, items for mixing explosives, leather, hide, scissors, needle and twine/thread for making bomb sacks, flint and tinder. Yueqin, a mandolin-type instrument that has also been fixed up to use as a club.

“Of course it is not safe, that is why we are all back here.” Lin replied a little impatiently, “Now final check, everyone is out of the mine, yes?”
It was a beautiful clear day in… wherever she was. Somewhere Around Mount Vun, she thought. There was a fine chill in the air that promised to warm up in the afternoon. By then she would likely have concluded her business and moved on.
“Everyone is out,” the leader of the minors confirmed.
*Heh heh, leader of the minors.* Lin cracked a grin despite the circumstances, “Okay,” she tried to keep a straight face, “I am lighting the fuse so be ready. And plug your ears, this will be loud. I stress again, this will be loud.”
It took several strikes of her flint before the fuse lit, but once it did it was off at a good pace. This was her medium paced fuse, not too fast, not too slow. Lin watched it until it disappeared from sight down into the gaping mine. Plugging her ears with cotton she hunkered down behind the shelter of rubble situated several yards from the opening. Many of the men followed her example, though there were still those who had not been convinced by her small demonstration who watched, some foolishly did not plug their ears either.
The explosion sent a small tremor outwards and of course, a very loud boom like a crack of near thunder. A cloud of dust burst forth from the mine shaft and was quickly caught up by a breeze and deposited over the whole company.
“Well-ahem!-” Lin coughed and stood up, dusting herself off, “Give it at least fifteen minutes to settle, then head in to survey the work. In the mean time you’re all welcome-hahum!- to one of my native songs from my homeland to pass the time.” She smiled broadly and then sneezed several times.
