Even Kai couldn't help laughing as Dariyush went skidding into the water, shaking his head and brushing his hair out of his face. Safe to say that they weren't going to be doing any more tests like this one outside near the waterfall, then. He wasn't even looking at the noble as he stalked through the water towards him, and the crashing of the waterfall covered any sound of him coming. All he knew was that one second he was standing next to the pond and the next Dariyush had grabbed his ankle to try and pull him into the water. His blue eyes grew surprised and he flailed in an attempt to keep his balance and stop himself being dragged into the pond, but eventually (and with several hushed oaths) he was flung into the water with a great splash, emerging after a moment or two to take a deep breath of air, shaking his head like a dog to get rid of the water.
"Sneaky noble." he muttered playfully as he smirked across at Dariyush; Kai's ears were flat to his head by this point to keep out the water and his hair was plastered to his face, his clothes clinging to him as he splashed at his opponent to get him back, toying with the idea of continuing their fight in the water and holding him under it, before realising he'd probably get the same treatment. Well, it was better than sand, he had to admit. And he'd take being dragged into a pool of water to getting slammed into the arena wall any day. He didn't quite fancy staying in there all day though, the half demon eventually dragging himself to the side of the pool and out onto the grass again, ringing out his clothes and shrugging helplessly to Pari before he shook himself over like an animal to get rid of as much water as he could, and then stood up.
The teacher was finding it just as difficult to keep the amusement out of his voice when he spoke, and he threatened to burst into laughter at any point as he glanced at Pedar Kashani. "You have to admit, that was one of the most interesting tests we've had in a long while." he chuckled, shaking his head.

Dariyush smiked at Kai triumphantly as he surfaced after his fall, chuckling to himself. "I thought that you might have wanted a dip too." He told him with mock innocence, seeming ready for Kai to try and splash him or for him to carry on their fight into the water. He shied out of the way as Kai shook the water out of his hair, still smirking as he moved to clamber out of the pool, though, unlike Kai, he was a little more dignified. He didn't shake himself off like a dog, but rather wrung as much of the water from his hair and clothes as he could before picking his staff up again, moving over to the teacher to give it back to him. "Sorry, it's a bit wet."
Pari was still giggling to herself as she moved over to the pond, as though to help Kai get out, squeaking as he shook the droplets of water everywhere. "Ah! Kai! I was just starting to dry off!" She pouted to him, rolling her eyes a little before walking over to him once he had done shaking. "It's karma. You made me fall into the water and Dariyush dragged you into the water, I just hope that you didn't scare my fish too much." She murmured, turning to look into the pond and check on her fish, taking a moment to count them and make sure that they were all there. They were all there, and they were all moving, so hopefully they were alright.
Pedar Kashani cleared his throat to get everyone's attention once again. "Yes, I have to agree. It was one of the most interesting tests we have seen for a while." He agreed with the teacher, smiling brightly. "You are very talented Kai. In all my years I have never seen someone more quite as quickly as you do, and you have a natural fighting style." He told him. "I think that is exceptional enough to grant you a special scolarship at the academy, if you would like to accept the place."

"Oops... sorry." Kai grinned to her sheepishly as he swept his wet hair out of his face so that it wasn't in the way, his poor ears twitching to try and get rid of all the water so that he could hear properly; everything was rather muffled right now. Eventually he seemed to settle down a little, able to hear again and reaching over to grab his staff and return it to the teacher, who was already holding Dariyush's wet staff with a look of utter bemusement on his face.
"Really Dariyush, this is the nicest present you've given me since that practice shield that fell in the mud." the teacher held the soaked wooden pole away from him, wrinkling his nose playfully. He nodded politely to Kai as he returned the staff, moving to lean them both against a nearby palm tree ready to be put away later.
"Karma, huh." the half demon raised his eyebrows at her, smirking lightly and following her gaze to the fish, checking that they were all okay and that he or Dariyush hadn't accidentally squashed one of them or something. He didn't want to admit it, but that little fight between them had been rather enjoyable. And he was trying so hard to hate the noble, too! Damn it. He looked up as Pedar Kashani spoke up, almost slipping back into the typical stance of a slave before he remembered what he had been told, quickly adjusting his posture and lifting his gaze to look across at the noble, seeming confused at first. Kai didn't receive many compliments, he didn't really know how to react to them to be honest, finding himself feeling a little awkward at being called talented.
He smiled brightly as Pedar Kashani offered him a place at the school, feeling strangely relieved that he had been accepted. He knew that had he been rejected he would have nowhere to go other than into Malwiya and the cities of that province, and he knew those even less than he knew Dibos. It wouldn't be long before he'd find himself getting into some kind of trouble. But he didn't need to worry about that anymore, did he? "Thank you." he murmured softly, nodding to the noble and unable to stop his tail from wagging; he couldn't disguise his feelings as hard as he tried. Bloody tail. "I'd like that..." he smiled, as if to say that yes, he'd like to accept the place.

Dariyush smirked to the teacher before giving him a mock pout. "Aww damn, and here was me thinking that the best present I'd ever given you was that bloody towel, remember, after I bust my nose?" He chuckled at the memory. "I'm pretty good at giving presents, aren't I? You know what, I should be your favourite student and everything!" He teased, seeming to be in pretty high sprits. He had enjoyed the fight, even though he had ended up in the pond, and he had to admit that he was looking forward to the next chance they got to fight.
He moved to stand on his father's left side as he began to speak, his hands linked behind his back. Dariyush even nodded to agree with what his father was saying. It seemed that Kai had earnt Dariyush's approval, and if he had his approval then winning over the rest of the students should be easy.
Pedar Kashani smiled to Kai widely as he accepted the place, looking pleased. "Excellent. I an honoured to welcome you to the academy Kai. Unfortunatly there are no rooms left in the dormatory block, but I do have a spare bedroom at the main house, if you would like to stay there. At the moment it is pretty much a blank canvas, but I am sure that Pari will be able to help you buy furnishings." He nodded. There was room in the dormatories, but he assumed that both Kai and Pari would be happier if he stayed at the main house. It had actually been Dariyush's recommendation that Kai stayed at the main house, and with how he had performed he was happy to oblige.
Pari smiled brightly to her father after his suggestion, looking over to Kai. It was pretty obvious that he was happy to be accepted, Pari had been worried that he was only here that he had nowhere else to go, but from how happy he looked hopefully he liked it here aswell. "Congratulations, Kai. I told you that you would get accepted!"

"My favourite student, eh? Well Dariyush, after the bloody towel, the muddy shield and now the wet quarter-staff I've got to say truthfully that I've never had a student quite like you." the teacher smirked, "You can take that however you want; it could be a good thing or a bad thing, bear that in mind." he winked, looking around at the little group before moving to collect up the staffs and the other items and weapons and the like that he'd brought along in case of any 'accidents' during the test (now that he knew how it turned out he thought that a towel or two might have been a good idea) before turning to bow his head politely to them and turn away to put everything back where it belonged. The testing was over now anyway, there was no need for him to stay, the man disappearing through the grass and out of the garden without a word.
If anyone had told Kai that it had been his opponent's idea, of all the people in the world, to have him stay at the main house away from the dorms and the other students and the like he'd have probably looked at them as though they were insane, but as it was he was in the frame of mind currently to probably just accept anything that he was told. He smiled sheepishly at the mentioning that the room was a blank canvas, so to speak, pushing his wet hair away from his face and shrugging. "It's alright, really. I don't even know what I like, and I haven't got any money to get anything, so I'm just happy to be stayin' somewhere..." he murmured.
He couldn't resist a chuckle as Pari spoke to him, throwing her a playful grin. "Bah, don't be silly, Pari. I knew I'd be accepted all along as well." he joked, smirking to her before his ears twitched suddenly and he looked up. It must have just been the collective sound of classes ending and all of the students mulling about that made the sound so clear, and he was momentarily distracted by all of the voices. Well, it was getting dark, he reasoned. It must be time for everyone to move back to the dorms and the like.

Dariyush was left looking thoughtful after the teacher's comment, as though trying to work out if it really was a good or a bad thing. Bah, he didn't like riddles! He didn't have the patience for them. He, eventually, folded his arms over his chest and huffed as he watched the teacher leave, as though to signal that he had given up, before he glanced up at his father. "I am going to go and wash before dinner. Do you need me for anything else?" He questioned, waiting for his father to say that he could leave before he turned and strode off out of the garden, a rather sneaky little glint in his eyes.
Pedar Kashani shook his head a little as he watched his son leave before turning his attention back to Kai and Pari. "Oh, I wouldn't expect you to pay for it. That would be rude of me, expecting a guest to pay to decortare his room." He told Kai, seeming amused that he thought that he would have to pay for it. "Pari can take you shopping and help you choose, afterall, we want you to be comfortable here." He smiled to him and nodded. In comparison to where he had to stay at the arena, even the blank room would be luxery, but Pedar Kashani couldn't leave Kai to sleep in an undecorated room! That wouldn't say much about his hospitality, would it? "Dinner will be soon, Pari, you two should go and change out of those wet clothes." He added before nodding to them and turning to take his leave, trusting that Pari would show Kai his room and get him some clean clothes.
Pari nodded to her father before looking to Kai, seeming to size him up for a moment before nodding again, this time to herself. "You can borrow some of Dariyush's clothes." She nodded to him as she brushed her hair back from her face. "Come on, I will show you your room." She told him, tilting her head to the side as she watched his ears flick around. "Oh! Classes must have just finished. Imagine how noisy it is when you are in the middle of it." She smirked before turning to head out of the garden, trusting that Kai would follow. "You'll get to meet a couple of the other students at dinner, mainly Dariyush's friends and the best students from the acacdemy, and probably a few of the teachers that live here."

Kai was rather flustered at everything Pedar Kashani was offering him, not seeming to know just what to do or to say. It was easy to imagine that Kai had never received many things in his life time, and he wasn't particularly good at receiving gifts or compliments or anything like that. Which was why, at the news that he'd not only have somewhere to stay that wasn't in the dorms and that he'd not have to pay to decorate the room however he wanted, he was pretty speechless. He could only nod politely in gratitude as Pedar Kashani turned to leave, rubbing at the back of his head. This was all a lot to take in, just a few days ago he'd been curled up in his tent in the arena praying that he'd pass out before his Master came to give him a good beating for losing to that giant of a man, and now here he was, a student at a prestigious academy.
The half breed was dragged from his thoughts as Pari spoke, offering her a light smile and nodding as she said she'd show him to his room, following after her and only looking over his shoulder once back at the garden, as if to make sure that it hadn't all been a mirage and the little waterfall was still there as it was meant to be. "You sure he won't mind me borrowin' his clothes?" he asked, tilting his head a little, "I mean, c'mon, we did fight outside of Sinna. And then we fought just then, AND I was practically the cause of him fallin' in the water." he still grinned at the memory of it. He knew that he and Dariyush would probably get on each others nerves as much as possible, but he had to admit that the noble was talented, and he'd be lying if he said he hadn't enjoyed fighting him.
"Sounds like hell." he smirked as he imagined what it would be like to be right in the middle of all of those voices at such a close range, every time classes ended. Kai was used to the roar of the crowd from the arena, but most of the sound from there was only echoed and amplified by the walls. The voices would be right up close if he was around them. Suddenly he was very, VERY glad that he wouldn't be staying at the dorms. The main house sounded quiet, at least. "Other students and teachers, huh?" he smiled lightly as he followed her, "Here's hopin' I make a good impression, and act as normal as humanly possible." he winked to her, as if to say that was already practically impossible.

Pari was bemused by how flustered Kai looked, unable to work it out. It must all be pretty overwhealming, in a couple of days his life had taken a U turn. From living at the arena to living at the academy, it was a big change, it might take him a little while to get used to it. Pari would make sure that he was alright, she was a patient person, and she didn't mind explaining everything to him. Afterall, if she had been thrown into his world she couldn't know how to act either, so having someone to show you around and keep you company must at least help. Or she hoped that it would help. She didn't want him to feel uncomfortable or anything. After everything that he had been through, Kai deserved to be happy, and Pari hoped that he would be able to be happy here.
"No, he won't mind you borrowing his clothes. He has so many that he'll never wear all of them anyway." She shook her head at Kai. "He might even have a spare uniform that he can give you. I'll ask him for normal clothes first though, no-one will be wearing their uniforms to dinner." She explained to him, looking up at the house as they approached it, sighing to herself lightly. She couldn't believe that she was back here, and so soon too. She opened the door and stepped into the cool and well decorated interior of the house. They entered through a lavish living room, the faint scent of inscence drifting through the air. She lead him through a maze of rooms and up the stairs, pausing at the first door that she came to, knocking lightly.
"This is Dariyush's room. Our rooms are just down the hall, you get one that looks down on the garden too." She told him, scowling as Dariyush shouted from within the room. "Pari, go away, I'm busy." That made her sigh and roll her eyes. She hated when he made her have a conversation with his door. "But I need clothes for Kai. Please Dariyush." She called into him, kicking the bottom of the door for good measure, as though to tell him that he had succeeded in annoying her. "Fine, give me a second." Her brother sighed, going quiet for a moment before pulling the door open a little handing out a bundle of clothes to her. "Now shoo." He demanded and closed the door before she could say thank you. Oh well, at least they had clothes now.

"Uniform...?" Kai looked at her as if she'd just slapped him in the face. There was a uniform here? He'd have to behave himself enough to bear the heat with a uniform on and not wreck it or anything? Okay, so maybe some responsibility would be good for him, he'd gain more self respect for himself again that way. And there was the plus side that the chances of him sticking out like a sore thumb were slightly minimised; he would always stick out, but the fact that he would be looking like everyone else WHILE sticking out helped a lot. He'd wear their uniform, he decided. But he wouldn't like it. "I'll bet he doesn't have as many clothes as you do, though." the half demon joked to her with a playful grin as he followed her into the main house, tilting his head at she sighed. Oh, yeah. That's right, Pari had wanted to run away, hadn't she?
He was right in the middle of feeling bad that she had been dragged into the academy and her old life, the place she'd disliked with such a passion, when he saw the interior of the main house. If he had been overwhelmed and bewildered at the sights and scents and noises in Roshan's home then he was completely thrown off now, his nose twitching as the incense danced through the air to him, following Pari as if in a daze. His eyes never stayed on one thing for more than a few seconds, always flitting to something different and new and he trailed after her without even realising that he was turning and walking backwards every now and then, to keep an eye on everything that was going on. Luckily for him, his nose would probably be able to lead him back out of this maze of rooms, so he wouldn't get lost very often. Kai had an excellent sense of direction, if he did say so himself. Unless something was overpowering his scent, that was.
The excitable half demon almost walked into her when she suddenly paused outside Dariyush's room, snapping out of his little trance to smile faintly down at her. He nodded lightly as she told him where their rooms were, unable to hide the pleased look on his face as she told him that his room overlooked the garden. This was a dream, he was sure of it. Any minute now he'd wake up back in the tent in the arena. He lifted a brow at the little exchange between Pari and... well... the door, smirking ever so slightly as she was handed the bundle of clothes by Dariyush, who didn't seem so pleased to be disturbed. "Social, isn't he?" Kai chuckled as the door closed again, tilting his head down at the clothes in mild curiosity.

"Yeah, a uniform. It's not too bad, and it's not heavy so you won't get too hot. You just have to wear it while you are in classes, you can change after classes are done, but I usually find that too much hassle." She explained to him as she lead him through the house, smiling as she glanced back over her shoulder at him. She would have to make sure to ask that less inscence was used in the house to make sure that the smell wasn't overpowering for him, but ohterwise she was glad to see that he seemed to like the house. Hopefully it wasn't too much for him to take in. She imagined that, after everything that had happened over the last few days, ending up living here would be difficult to take in. From being a slave at the arena to being free and living with nobles, his life had been turned upsidedown and he hadn't had a chance to come to terms with the changes.
She turned to look at Kai again after her conversation with the door ended, shrugging to him a little, as though to say that she didn't know either. "He's just strange." She shook her head as she started to walk down the corridor. "Oh well, you'll get used to him. I'm surprised that he answered the door at all. He doesn't understand the rules of knocking. He just walks straight into my room." She scowled and shook her head. Her brother was so annoying sometimes. She had to ask her father to buy her a screen to change behind because of Dariyush's habit of just walking into her room whenever he wanted her.
Pari paused as she stood in front of her door with her hand on the handle, her expression impossible to read. When she had last been here she had been planning a huge adventure, wanting to get away and help people. She had big ideas about proving herself, about saving lives and about having her name known across the Empire. And here she was, just over a week later, back here, her dreams pretty much crushed. She closed her eyes for a moment, carefully locking all her feelings away at the back of her mind, before she pushed her door open to reveal her room, walking inside without much hesitation.
Nothing had been moved since she had last been here. The light curtains which were hung in front of the balcony door fluttered in the breeze, her bed, which was set into the floor, was neatly made with the cushions carefully arranged on it. The colourful bottles of scent and lotion on top of her dressing table were all arranged exactly as she had left them, even the bracelet that she had fallen off on her way out of the room remained on the floor where it had dropped. It was as though nothing had happened.
"Well, this is my room." She murmured to Kai as she led him inside, moving to scoop the bracelet up from the floor befor heading to the balcony. "I hope that you don't mind, but we share the balcony. It's just one big one, but you can put curtains up at the door and they are as good as a wooden door...and I will make sure to stick to my half of the balcony so I don't disturb you."

He slowly nodded as she described the uniform to him, pushing his damp hair out of his face. He was vaguely amused that, already, Pari knew why he'd not like heavy clothes and that he wasn't exactly fond of the heat of the Empire; they'd practically only just met and she still knew things about him that even his old Master had forgotten on a daily basis. It felt strange... but in a good way. "You should stop knockin' when you walk into his room, then." he suggested with a smirk as he was led away from Dariyush's bedroom, "That'll soon learn him to respect your privacy." he murmured, soon enough getting distracted again as they walked towards Pari's bedroom, the half demon observing the little details on the gilded walls, the odd painting and the like.
She was right, living here was a big culture shock for Kai, but right now everything seemed to be drifting rather pleasantly over his head, and he hadn't given it time to sink in yet. He doubted you could tell him anything that would surprise him anymore, considering what he'd been through in the last few days. Hell, he could barely remember where they'd been, let alone where they had ended up. He just needed a little time to adjust was all, and given a few days he should actually start to get used to the place, and shrug off the shackles of slavery and start to become his own person again. One could hope, anyway.
"...You okay?" he asked softly as she paused with her hand on the door handle to what was obviously her room, tilting his head curiously. He knew that she'd had every intention of running away from this place by what he'd been told and even by her attitude, but had he known just how much getting away had meant to her he'd not have agreed to go with her in the first place. In Kai's eyes, though, she would have achieved a lot of what she'd set out to do, even if she had returned prematurely. Sure, not everyone in the Empire would know her name, but she had helped him at least, and she had most definitely saved his life. Couldn't that be enough for now? Once he'd found his bearings in the academy, Kai decided, he was going to help her get out, and they could both see the world.
These thoughts were masked, as always, by his expression of vague concern and almost indifference, and he moved after her as she finally opened the door and headed into her room. He lifted his head to sniff at the air with interest; the whole room smelled like Pari, a scent he'd come to associate with good things, his freedom in particular. He smiled faintly as he looked around and she moved to put the bracelet away, gazing over at the fluttering curtains which hid the balcony from view. "We share the balcony?" he asked, following her out to the balcony, parting the curtains before stepping out onto the thing, instantly drawn in by the view of the garden that she had said would be there, resting his hand on the white stone of the edge of the balcony.
"I don't mind." he shook his head, "You don't have to cut it into 'halves', come and go whenever you want." he shrugged, "I don't have much that's mine, not as if I'm a private person." he chuckled, glancing across the balcony to the other set of fluttering curtains a little way away, which must lead into his room.

"Stop knocking? Oh, no. I would rather not walk in on him at an...akward moment." She blushed faintly and shook her head quickly. "I really would prefer not to have images like that in my head. Even revenge isn't worth those mental scars." Pari laughed a little before shuddering at the thought. She would just have to put up with her brother barging into her room whenever he wanted anything, at least she had her screen to change behind, and it wasn't as though Dariyush could ever interupt her at any akward moments. Thankfully, Pari preferred spending her free time in the garden rather than lazing around in her room, and her brother was too lazy to walk all the way to the end of the garden unless it was something important.
"Mmmm, I'm fine." She lied unconvicingly as she glanced back over her shoulder at him, a smile sitting on her lips but it didn't reach her eyes. She needed to pull herself together and drag herself out of this self indulgent depression before it settled in; how was Kai supposed to settle in properly when Pari was moping around? She wanted him to be happy here, and that would be harder for him if she sulked about being brought back. At least there was a silver lining to this cloud, at least she had a real friend here now, someone that wasn't just waiting for her to fail or forcing themselves to be nice to her because of who she was. It wouldn't be quite as lonely here with Kai around, and if she focused on helping him to settle in and decortating his room then she hoped that she could distract herself from dwelling on what had happened.
She swept the curtain aside as she stepped out onto the wide balcony, smiling to herself as Kai moved past her to look down on the garden. "We have a nice view, at least. It's quieter here too. Well, I think it's quiet...you can probably hear more than I can...but it's quieter than at the front of the house." She nodded as she moved to side on the white stone wall that ran around the edge of the balcony. "It gets warm up here through the day, so it's better to go down to the garden, but it's nice to sit up here in the mornings and evenings."
"I can't imagine that you had too much privacy at the arena..." She shook her head before smiling to him. "I don't mind sharing a balcony either. You can come to my room whenever you want." She smiled to him brightly and nodded, following his gaze to the doorway to his room. "I will help you choose things for the room, don't worry about money. Father was meaning to decorate the room anyway. There is a bed already in there though." She explained, looking back around at Kai. "Do you have a favourite colour? I was thinking maybe blues, to make your room feel cooler? They say that the colour of a room can change how it feels. Blues are calming too, apparently."

"An awkward moment, huh. Bet he'd love you interrupting that." he smirked to himself, shaking his head and gazing out over the balcony, breathing in the scent of the various flowers planted there, his ear cocked to listen to the rush of the little waterfall. She was right, he could hear more than she could, but that didn't mean it wasn't quieter here. He couldn't hear the hustle and bustle of the students meandering around back here, at least, that was all masked by the rich crash of water from the waterfall into the pond. And it was pleasant here, the atmosphere in itself seemed tranquil and calm, something Kai wasn't used to, to say the least.
He was watching her out of the corner of his eye as he gazed across at the magnificent garden, looking thoughtful. She'd said she was fine, but he could practically smell a lie, and it didn't take a genius to figure out that she was putting on a show of being alright and not being disappointed. He'd have to keep an eye on her, keep her busy or something, to make the fact that she was back at a place which (for some reason) she'd wanted to escape from sink in a little easier. They'd just have to help each other out, he thought to himself.
Kai could see himself spending the majority of his time in the garden, or on the balcony or in Pari's room. He wasn't an indoor person by any means. Being inside felt like a cage sometimes, and after all of that time being confined with the same sights day after day, he was eager to see what anything new had to offer. He was sure that this did expand to exploring the inside of the house as well as outside and the rest of the academy, but for now he was content with the balcony and anything the grounds of the academy could show him. And as excited as he should be for having his own space, he realised that he wouldn't quite know what to do with it. It was likely that he'd spend most of his time sat outside Pari's doorway; he wasn't quite rude enough to walk in uninvited.
"Favourite colour?" he tilted his head, having wandered slowly over to the other set of fluttering curtains which were supposed to lead into 'his' room, looking vaguely curious. "I don't know..." he shrugged honestly. "Blue sounds good though." he nodded, though he tilted his head at her with mock offense at the mentioning of blues being calm, parting the curtains to look into his room. "Are you saying that I need to calm down?" he teased, smirking.

"No, I didn't mean it like that!" She apologised to Kai quickly, shaking her head. "I just thought that it would be a nice change after the arena, for things to be nice and calm." She explained herself, looking worried that she had offended him. She hadn't meant to offend him, she was just trying to help. Plus, people said that blue was a cold colour, so she had thought that it would help Kai to feel cool and to remind him of his home. Blue just seemed like a colour that Kai would like, plus, he had blue eyes... Oh well. He might like green better, he seemed to like the garden, and that was green. She didn't know. She would have to take him to the market place to show him all the different things that he could buy so that he could choose the one that he liked best. "We can go to the market at the weekend, and see what you like the best."
After that she was quiet for a moment before she realised that she was still holding the clothes for him. "Oh, we should change for dinner. We'll have to go down soon." She pouted for a moment before holding the clothes out for him to take. "I think he gave you two outfits here so you can choose what you want to wear, I don't know if they match, though. Sorry." She smiled to him weakly before looking over her shoulder to the small door which lead to her walk in wardrobe, looking thoughtful. Her sister was going to be there, which meant that she was going to have to make an effort tonight. Oh, she didn't know what to wear. She hated all this fuss about what you wore, Pari couldn't see why it mattered so much.
"You can change behind the screen or in your room. There is a bowl of water there so that you can wash, and I will give you one of my combs for you hair." She nodded to him, poinint out the basin of water in front of a large mirror on her desk before moving to open up a draw and root around in it to find a comb that she could give him. "Hmmm, how about this ivory comb?" She asked, holding it up for him to see, hoping that it wasn't too girly for him. "I don't really use combs, with my hair being curly I only brush it when it's wet." She shrugged.

He couldn’t resist a laugh at how flustered she was, shaking his head at her as he parted the curtains to look into his bedroom. Kai knew it wasn’t often that he could let go and take things as a joke, so he hadn’t expected that the one time he was teasing playfully she’d get the wrong idea. “I was just playin’, Pari.” He assured her with a grin as he looked over his shoulder, before peering into the room. It was fairly large, much bigger than he’d expected, only slightly smaller than Pari’s bedroom. It did seem pretty bare, a few boxes piled up here and there where it had been used a storage room before he came there, but it was clean and the bed (which, although not built into the floor like Pari’s, was large and circular) was made and ready to be slept in. Kai paused there for a moment, a faint smile on his face. He’d have somewhere to stay. What a… weird feeling this was.
“Mm…?” he turned back around as she spoke, nodding and following her back into her bedroom after he took the clothes from her, suddenly aware that he was still damp from the pond, even though his hair had dried off from the heat of the place by now. “Match? It’s alright, not as though I’d care if they’d match. They’re clothes.” he smirked and shrugged, glancing at her walk-in wardrobe with a look of utter confusion on his face. There was even a room for the clothes!? You might as well have slapped Kai in the face. Everything was so different here, it was unsurprising that it would take a while for him to get used to everything. The only consolation he had was that, with retrospect to the academy, he was in his element. If there was only one thing that the half-demon could say he was definitely good at, it was fighting.
He tilted his head down at the ivory comb, smiling faintly and taking it with a nod of thanks. A comb was a comb to him. “Alright…” he murmured, placing the clothes and the comb next to her screen before moving to the basin to wash, seeming thoughtful as he did so. It was just eating, basically, wasn’t it? Why was everyone so eager to dress up and look perfect? Kai truly was like a fish out of water, wasn’t he?
Only a few minutes later and the half-demon had combed his hair so it fell straight, as usual, and had moved behind the screen, appearing again after a little while after getting dressed. Dariyush seemed to have at least given him neutral colours to wear so there was little chance of his clothes clashing, Kai having opted for a loose white shirt with darker linen trousers, Kai hovering outside on the balcony now while he waited for her to get changed, rubbing at the scar on his face out of habit as he drifted off into a daydream, ears flicking towards the sound of the birds in the garden.
