Syrunn
All right, here's the deal with the world itself...
Overall, Syrunn is slightly larger then Earth, but overall it is somewhat colder then earth, as such its tropical zone a bit smaller. It's gravity is approximately equal to Earth's gravity, give or take.
It's current overall level of technology is roughly equivalent to late 16th century, early 17th century Earth, give or take.
Pistols and muskets exist, as do cannons (though they are all cude by todays standards; swords and armor are still in use). There are also mechanical wind up clocks, pendulum clocks, crude telescopes/microscopes, early spectacles, printing presses...
However, there are some exceptions to this, the Lost Technology, which is explained below.
Syrunn has five continents:
The Frigid Continent: Ísing, which is far north of Vrut Ta'al and part of Demia. It has an arctic climate.
The Far Continent: Aeroh, north of Demia and east of Ísing. It is subarctic in the south and arctic in the north.
The Western Continent: Vrut Ta'al, south of Ísing and west of Demia. It is semi-arid in the northern tip, but the rest is arid, one enormous desert really.
The Eastern Continent: Demia, south of Aeroh and east of Vrut Ta'al. It is subarctic in the far north, traveling southward the climate shifts to temperate, then a small strip of the tropics, then temperate again, then subarctic again in the far south... It's quite a long continent, far longer then it is wide.
The Far Eastern Continent: Bokoku, east of Demia. It is mostly temperate in the north and subtopical in the southern most tip.
And Three Oceans:
Algjörlega Ocean, which surrounds Ísing and Aeroh
Oriens Ocean, which is west of Vrut Ta'al and east of Demia
Aquios Ocean, which is to the east of Vrut Ta'al and west of Demia.
All kinds of beings live on Syrunn: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, Demons, Dragons, Anthros, and many, many more. So you are free to play any race you wish (Heck, I'd even allow a Mudokon if you give a plausible explanation as to how they came to be on Syrunn... Actually, you know, that would be quite amusing).
Magic and magical creatures of all kinds exist on Syrunn and the general fact of such things is widely known, but the various specifics aren't necessarily widely known.
While magic-users may be common enough among adventurers, they are rare in the overall population.
Also not as widely know is the fact that remnants of the Golden Age's technology (see below: Lost Technology) still exist as well. Some magic users have been successful in blending the two, with machines powered by coal furnaces and spell engines. However, a scientific revolution is getting underway, mostly among Humans and Gnomes, that seeks to master this technology and make it wide spread once again.
*"Lost Technology", the technology formerly in wide use during Syrunn's Golden Age, which was also know as the Age of Learning.
It mostly ran on steam, hydro, and wind power.
Think "fantasy-world steampunk" type stuff, like the stuff in the games Iron Kingdoms or Final Fantasy IX, if you've played either of them, or the anime Escaflowne, if you've seen it.
The Gnomes have the most knowledge on Lost Technology, what with them being more mechanically minded then most other races, but Humans also have some knowledge of it. Most Elves have no interest in it, neither do the Dwarves, who prefer their stone, gems, and metalworking.
The "remnants" themselves range from simple blueprints to mostly intact machines (anything from a simple device to an entire airship) that may or may not function properly, if at all. However, these discoveries are rare and knowledge of such things is usually restricted to highly educated people.
The use of Lost Technology is limited and generally hit or miss, presenting a lot of technical problems for most, with the exception of the Maester, a Gnome genius.
Unfortunately, she's quite insane and seems to have no plans on sharing her knowledge with anyone.
Here is the set up for the various kingdom's statistics, which can be found here:
(Name of kingdom)
Area: (How big it is)
Capital: (Uh... it's capital)
Government: (Current form of Government used)
Current Leader: (I think you can figure this one out)
People: (The race that makes up the majority of the population within the kingdom, usually the same race as it's leader. This does not mean that no other races live in these lands. Many lands, especially the Human lands, host a variety of races.)
Language: (The official language, usually the one spoken by its racial majority, and other languages spoken by the majority of its inhabitants)
Climate: (It's... you know, climate)
Location: (Where it is in relation to its neighboring kingdoms)
If this set up seems a little vague, it's because I'm leaving the fine details to whomever takes the leader of whichever country.
