"Just to clarify things, I'm no mere human. I'm a Silverbrow, a decendent of the Silver Dragons, and while I'm sure they might not see my new way of thinking, they'd probably understand after my small... Epiphany..." He once again turned his attention to Rabbit. "I don't see why you would reject an offer to help, while I request nothing in return, leaving you with all the profits, the fame, and everything else. It'll be like I was never there." He looked back at Valter. "The thought of betrayal never crossed my mind. If there's anything I can do to prove my... Loyalty, I guess you could call it, then tell me."

Rabbit gave Valter a withering look that said he had no idea how much help could hurt. "I don't like people butting in on my hunt." He turned the look to Cael. "And I don't hunt for fame or any such thing. What notoriety I have is simply by chance. And to be absolutely honest- I just don't like you, dragon git or not."
He turned back to the game board, fet tucked up so he was perched crosslegged on his chair, partially to avoid stepping on any glass that might have fallen there. "Sooner rather than later is what I do. But my services are expensive when paid in pure currency, so I'd be willing to haggle over the price with a fair trade of items or services." He'd arranged his harts to mimic Valter's forming circle, stalling.

"I can expect loyalty from no one." Valter announced calmly, shifting his hands over the game board again. "Human or no. And I have a feeling you like very few, Rabbit, myself not included." Valter said wryly. He'd begun to expand his own circle of hounds, planning on moving the circle to a stand of forests nearby.
"I've got quite a lot of gold on me, that's all yours if you choose to accept it." Valter said with a shrug, producing a jingling pouch from one of his pockets. "As for other items, I have a few interesting pieces with me, although if that's not enough, we'll have to discuss services." He ran a hand through his hair and shut his eyes for a moment, thinking. "We'll need time to discuss a plan as well, we can't just walk in and kill the emperor. And I'd rather I had the two of you on the job." Valter added, reasoning that with two, the chances of treachery were much reduced. "So, what's this about a three story tower, Cael?"

"Well I have my own tower, if that's what you're talking about. The main floor is my kitchen, my lounge, my dining room, and my storage room. The second floor holds the bedrooms. And the third floor is where I conduct all my experiments. Oh, and in the attic I have a portal to my summer home in Avalas. Of course, you're free to stay if you need to lay low. I have the paladins' trust after all. In fact, I say enough of this place." Just as he said that, a mug flew towards his head. He caught it instinctively, and tossed it back into the brawl. A burly man walked up to them shortly after, cracking his knuckles. "And that's why. We don't want t spectacle, do we gentlemen?"
(Crap. I don't actually remember posting about a three-story tower.)

(If you want to read it again, 9th post on the 2nd page =) )
"Avalas..." Valter repeated softly, the word rolling off of his tongue almost wistfully. The plan was coming together. Acquire the stone, take a portal across the ocean to Avalas, find the White Priest, and kill him. "That does sound interesting." he said quietly, although he hadn't paid Cael much heed after the word reached his ears.
However, he'd picked up the vibrations of a burly man coming close by. Too close. "May I help you?" Valter asked pointedly, his back to the man. Without waiting for a response, he whirled around, smashing his elbow into the man's gut and flicking his metal-encased fist towards his chin. He lashed a sharp-toed boot at the thug's leg the next moment, sending the stunned man crumpling to the ground. "I didn't think so." he sneered, taking care to step on the man's injured leg.
"I does seem a shame to leave this game here unfinished though..." Valter said, shifting his heel. The man's kneecap cracked, and Valter relished his scream of pain. "What do you think Rabbit? Rabbit?"

Rabbit hadn't really been paying attention after giving a vague nod that what Valter carried would be enough. He was ignoring Cael for the most part. He glanced up at Valter and gave a long suffering sigh. "I don't mind. It's rare to finish games quickly." He swept the pieces together, nimble fingers putting everything neatly away until t abruptly disappeared into it's hiding place again. He shook his head slightly, silky strands of pale hair swinging with the movement.
"And could you not do that? The screaming hurts my ears." He sniffed, daintily hopping off his chair and avoiding the glass from earlier shattered glasses, stepping over the downed man. "If we're going anywhere, then I need to collect Horse. He didn't like it last time I left him behind." He was the first one out the door, more than happy to be away from the crowds of people. Hmph, curs. And as if summoned by the thought, a small, pie bald miniature horse was standing not too far from the door, ooking irritated with packs strapped to his back.
"I am not staying there, Rabbit. Those idiots skimped on my feed, and tried to make off with some of your toys." Rabbit trotted over to him, poking through the packs to make sure none of his weaponry was missing. He worked to collect his 'toys' as Horse had put it.
((Ack, sorry. Work was ebil.))

(No problem. Glad to see you're back. ^^)
"Right, I guess it's time we took our leave of this place." Valter said, baring his teeth in a grin. "We'll be headed towards your place Cael, so you're leading the way." The way he'd said it, it came out as more of a threat than a statement.
The man at Valter's foot groaned and made to get up; with a swift kick, the man hit the ground again, limbs splayed out. "Stay down. It suits you." Valter hissed, before heading towards the door, carelessly crushing glass underfoot as he made his exit.
On the other side of the wall, Valter quietly watched as Rabbit greeted his talking horse, not voicing his surprise. Surprise was never a good thing. He leaned against the wall, shutting his eyes, and focused his ears on the inside of the tavern. It seemed that the fight was getting larger and far out of hand.

"Alright, alright. Follow me, and be quick. We'll have to go past some guards that won't be happy if they see one of their "clients" with a n'er do-well, so to speak." He led them out of the tavern and through a winding path of roads that seemed to stretch on and on. After a long length of walking, he motioned for them to stop. Around the corner was a white-robed Paladin. He had a threateningly large mace in both hands and an iron symbol of his diety around his neck. "Prestidigitation..." A rock next to the Paladin lifted itself off of the ground and was tossed in the other direction. The Paladin looked in the direction of the rock and ran after it. "Sharn the Shining... He's supposed to represent the light, but if you ask me, he's incredibly dim... Now, hurry, before he comes back." He ran past where the Paladin was standing, and rounded another corner, to be faced with a three-story tower. "Here we are." He walked up to his front door, which was nothing more than more wall. Cael tapped his hand upon the wall, and a sigil revealed itself: the image of dragon. Within seconds the wall melted away. He walked inside, and waited for the others, before tapping the sigil again, and watching the wall reform. Inside they were instantly greeted with a musky scent, being produced by incense sticks along the room. The floor was covered with a red, almost monarch-like carpeting, and the inner walls, contrary to the iron outer ones, were a polished mahogany wood. "Well, make yourselves at home."

Rabbit followed, a hand on Horse's muzzle to warn him to shut up. The pie bald creature, after a short while, shook free of the restraining hand but kept his peace. They trailed after Valter and Cael in complete silence, watching as Cael tricked the paladin, and made the wall dissapear. As they stpped in the room, Horse paying no mind to the fact that carpets weren't ment for horse hooves, Rabbit was first to snort and hold his sleeve over his nose and mouth.
"Smells like this room never gets fresh air." He complained. Rabbit reallydidn't have anything against incense, except in rooms with no ventilation. He never used it personally because most of the scents were simply too strong for his taste. He preffered the honest smell of wood smoke, frankly.

Valter spread his wings restlessly and then snapped them shut again. "Kah! Incredibly stuffy in here." he muttered, glancing around at the incense sticks littering the floor and smoking up the room. He turned to glare at Cael. "You never said there'd be a guard." he growled accusingly. "Granted, he's more of an idiot than humans normally are, but still..." Now we're stuck here. he added silently.
"Boy, aren't you comfortable?" Valter said tauntingly. "Ornate carpets, polished wooden walls, I wouldn't be surprised if you pulled out some teacups or something." The ceiling was very low, giving the room even more of a cramped feel, although a staircase on the other end provided an exit from the first floor. "Alright then, I suppose we're going to have to come up with a plan to assassinate the emperor." Valter said casually.

"Don't worry, the guard is only here at night, and if you want, you can leave the tower through the top. Oh, and as for the decoration..." He tapped a visible sigil on the wall. The room instantly resembled the rest of the tower, entirely iron. The smell of musk faded as well. The only thing remaining was the furniture, which now looked severely out of place. "It's a permanent illusion that fades when exposed to daylight, which is why I have no curtains. If you want to change my house to fit your wants, then look in the closet and try out some of the other sigils. I've got about twenty of them, all styled differently. In the mean time..." He tapped the walls yet again. Small, recangular windows appeared close to the ceiling, allowing ventilation but not big enough to reveal anyone. "If anyone needs me, I'll be upstairs. I would try not to sneak up on me though, otherwise my experiments might turn us all to merely bones in about... 0.4 seconds." He walked upstairs.

Rabbit was rather relieved at the absence of insence (thank god) and leaned against Horse as he studied the room. He didn't pay much attention to Cael. Rabbit's idea of comfortable living was tent in the woods, though he'd probablly end up playing with the sigils later out of sheer boredom. As it was, he gave his companion a poke and they skittered over to one of the walls. "Gimme a boost." He demanded.
"Fine, but don't take very long." Horse huffed, bracing his legs as Rabbit clambered onto his back, and from there up the wall until he got his fingers on the window sill and could peer out, pale pink eyes curious. He spotted the guard returning to his station, and wished he had a rock to throw at him. As it were, he wasn't going to risk losing one of his knives for a silly prank. He dropped back to the floor, Horse stepping hastily out of the way, and tuned to Valter.
"So, while he's busy with his experiments, I agree that we should plan. Or at least, you tell me what I need to know so I can plan." He considered a moment, then shrugged. "Though we should probablly ask if there's a courtyard or some such, for Horse."

"Why don't we just make our own courtyard?" Valter asked, roughly tapping the closet and uncovering some sigils. He tapped a one. Instantly the interior of the room shifted into the interior of a volcano, complete with a lava pond, and intense heat. "Wrong one." Valter muttered, tapping a few more. The room changed into a castle interior, some fiendish crome styled room, and the interior of a house that looked like it belonged to a batty old cat lady, before Valter finally found the correct sigil.
Upon tapping it, the walls seemed to suddenly melt away. It was as if the entire ground floor of the tower vanished, leaving just plain meadow. They could plainly see the guard now, although the poor fool couldn't see them. "Wow. Well, that's a pretty good illusion." Valter grudgingly admitted, sitting down cross-legged on the grass and flaring out his wings.
"So, for plans... the Emperor of Xyndi is a powerful geomancer, like all the previous emperors. Also, he has a retinue of guards outside his room, and one elite bodyguard at his side at all times. No one gets into the palace without a reason. And that's really all that I know for now." Valter said.

A small explosion boomed from upstairs. The second floor, which now resembled a tree house after the illusion change, was covered in what looked like a sheet of purple dust. Cael stood, teetering from the blast, almost falling over. His sole task seeme to be keeping a large vial filled with purple liquid from spilling. He fell over, but still managed to keep it from tipping. With a quick movement he corked the vial, then started laughing."I did it! I did it!"

Rabbit nodded, dropping down into a crosslegged position across from Valter. The piebald horse wandered off, somewhere in the interem having been relived of his packs by the thin boy. Now, Rabbit listened to Valter as he poked through his back, neatly arraying his weapons around him so that he could make sure they were all in proper order. After the weapons in the packs had come out, he started pulling the weapons he had hidden on his person off and laying them with what remained. Fore arms, upper arms, calves, the small of his back, and one down his spine were al the hiding places he was using- at the moment.
"Tell me everything you know about him- personal life, friends, is he married? Kids, favorite dog, favorite whore, habits, etc." Now, Rabbit could have figured this all out himself, but it would have ment weeks of stalking and studying, of careful bribery and such. He'd get what information he could from Valter, and fill in the gaps himself. If he got enough information, he expected it to take no more than a week, maybe two once he was in the emporer's empire.
The explosion didn't seem to startle him as he sharpened a logn, thin, needle like weapon on a whet stone he'd produced from the depths of his packs, a simple flick of pale pink eyes discerning the cause of the commotion. "Did what?"
