Real Name: Shadow
Other Characters: Grace
Okay, so here's my new character, I know the history is a bit short but there wasn't really anything else to add. I've tried to make sure she has all the skills that an Assassin might need without her being overpowere, any issues let me know, Thanks!
Name: Elle Natalie Connor
Aliases: Nightlock
Age: 24
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Occupation/Class: Assassin/Mercenary
Orientation: Heterosexual
Physical Description:
Elle stands at 5’7 with rich chocolate brown hair, highlighted with strands of glittering red, tumbles in loose waves to rest at her breasts or . Her eyes shine a pure, clear blue and hold a depth of brutal knowledge. Her limbs are lithe and supple, with a strength earned from long hours of hard-work; her hands calloused from the use of sword and bow. There is a white, hair-thin scar that runs from her temple to the middle of her right cheek that mocks the pale beauty of an otherwise unmarked visage. Elle’s skin is naturally tanned. Her usual garb (when not in ‘work’) is a simple white linen blouse tucked into a shin length brown skirt that hides the long-bladed knives strapped to her thighs. She wears a pair of supple brown leather boots with the tops turned down, again hiding a pair of daggers. Atop the blouse and skirt is a lighter brown sash holding a selection of tools and throwing blades.
When she is in ‘work’ however, her hair is braided and wrapped into a severe bun. She then blackens her eyes with kohl and wears a pair of formfitting assassin greys made from a mottled black and grey material made by the best tailors so they are formfitting without hampering movement. A single handed, thin, black bladed sword (think tai chi sword) is strapped to her back. Her black leather belt is resplendent with weapons including throwing knives, twin heavy bladed knives, etc. On certain jobs she may also have a short bow slanted across her chest. That’s not to mention the spring loaded wrist-blades within her two black bracers.
Personality Description:
Elle is often cold and aloof when around other people, due to her career choice she must be careful who she allows close to her. She has no real friends, just work-related acquaintances, such as the tailor or blacksmith, etc. and even then her meetings with them are very cloak and dagger. She is very selfish and works for the money, she doesn’t care who she works for, whether she’s serving the greater good or the greater evil. However, she is not overtly cruel and prefers to make clean kills with few additional deaths. She does give a few coins to beggars and homeless children, not through any empathetic need to be charitable but because the underbelly of any society usually knows more than the authorities so it’s always good to make friends. Also, who’s going to say no to a poison-laced sweet offered by a child? Elle also takes a certain pride in her work and in a job well done. When she gets in and out of well-guarded keep kills a single person and leaves with no one the wiser is the greatest high someone can experience.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
History:
Like so many stories in this world Elle’s does not start off well. Elle’s mother, Cate, a whore working the streets of INSERT CITY!!! became pregnant whilst serving a local nobleman. Obviously, the Lord was not pleased that she was to birth a bastard child of his so he refused all responsibility or even knowing the whore. So she did what any street girl does in this situation, she gave her up. Cate’s Handler, the one who arranged her ‘clients’, took the baby and Cate never saw the child again after naming the child.
Unfortunately, Cate’s Handler did not give Elle to a loving, caring servant family. No, she was taken to a local street gang leader who only cared for the child, hired a wet nurse, etc. just so he could have his own personal whore who would bring in an income that might result in him being a Handler himself. Of course, this plan did not go exactly, well, to plan. When Elle was 4 the gang was under severe pressure from neighbouring gangs, their territory was shrinking and the pickings were slim. The leader sold Elle into slavery.
Elle, however, even at the tender age she was, did not appreciate being handed off to a strange man, she lashed out with her little hands and feet and biting anything that came within range. That spirit was exactly what attracted Bree, the best female assassin in INSERT CITY, to the girl. As they dragged the girl onto the podium, the auctioneer ready to take high bids from the usual gentlemen that buy the little girls, she didn’t once scream but kept up a constant and determined fight and then stood staring malevolently out at the crowd, her eyebrows lowered, lips tight, seeming to dare them to bid for her. Bree didn’t know why she did it, why she even wanted to but she bought the child, it reminded her so much of herself as a child, she supposed.
Elle hated her new master, she made her clean blades and her safe houses, constantly talked at her about plants and how they hurt people. She was just a hateful woman. However, like many people before her Elle came to appreciate her master and the little lessons that were passed on to her. Eventually, Elle started copying her masters stances, watching the woman shadow-boxing and copying the moves. Eventually, Bree found Elle practicing the moves and was impressed with her dexterity and aptitude for the movements even though Bree had not taught her. So, again, against her better judgement Bree decided to teach the child properly. If she was to teach the child, she would be the best. The rest, as they say, is history.
Elle trained long and hard for many years and eventually breaking her maidenhead on her 18th birthday, she knifed a Duke in the market, and walked on, the man was on his knees and attempting the draw air into his ruined lungs as Elle was out of the bazaar and heading back to the safehouse. Since then, Bree has retired from the assassinations (a feat previously unheard of in her field) and she now passes on contracts to Elle, taking a cut of the takings for herself, of course.
Likes: Books, well-made weaponry, make-up, clothes (and making them), jewellery, herbs, poisons, a job well done.
Dislikes: Men who think they can beat her because she’s a woman, weak women, up their own arse nobility, shoddy craftsmanship, women who wear too much make-up.
Strengths: Excels at hand-to-hand combat and is able to use most types of weaponry, good archer, sleight-of-hand, pickpocketing, picking locks, herblore and knowledge of poisons (most medicinal herbs given in the correct dosage can harm as much as kill), can climb almost any wall, master of disguise, knowledge of pressure points.
Weaknesses: No protection against magic, wears no armor, often emotionally absent creating distance between herself and others, the existence of Bree (she would give herself up for her mentor); though she is strong, Elle’s dexterity would only last so long in a fight with a beast of a man swinging a huge sword, selfishness (some would count that as a weakness of character, she doesn’t).
Weapons/Armor/Magic: Elle has a wide array of weaponry stored in her plethora of safehouses however, on a day-to-day basis or on a non-specialist job, Elle carries a selection of throwing blades, a set of twin, heavy-bladed knives almost long enough to be short swords and if her disguise will allow a thin-bladed sword on her back. She also wears a spring-loaded wrist blade on each arm, a poison pouch which she can dip her knives and a small bracelet that hold poison-laced darts. Elle never wears armor, in her career choice she needs her dexterity and speed to dash from shadow to shadow and armor would just make an awful racket. Elle also has no magical ability whatsoever.
Other:
Due to Bree’s long career, Elle has access to safe houses in most cities in the world (where possible) and in each city she is known by a different name be it the Lady Alexandra Burnette or Daphne the Herbalist or Sally the girl who lives under the bridge.
