Pari turned away from Kai as she handed him the clothes, giving him a little privacy while he changed. She lingered by the curtains as she waited for him, peering out to watch the guards restrain Roshan and move towards the house. Their leader shouted orders to search the whole of the house, Roshan swearing at them crudely, his gaze momentarliy flickering to where Pari was stood, as though he was checking to see if they were still there or not.
She turned around as Kai spoke, putting her bag over her shoulder as she moved towards the door. "They are coming in from the front of the house. If we hurry we can get down the servants staircase and out through the kitchen door." She explained, tugging the door open. Her heart was pounding now, Pari cautiously leaning out of the door to peer up and down the corridor before stepping out of the room. "Stick close Kai...if you lose me then the carriage will be waiting by an inn called the Setting Sun. Just go there and get the carriage." She instructed him, slipping a ring from her finger. "And take this, it has my family crest on it, so they will know to let you into the carriage." She told him, holding the ring out for him to take.
"Are you alright?" She asked, noting the scared look in his eyes. "I won't let them catch you Kai." She assured him with a gentle smile. "We just have to hurry and be careful. If it comes down to it I will distract them and you can run."

He nodded faintly as she told him where to go, although he didn't have any intention of losing her. He'd meant what he'd said to Roshan when he told him he'd look after her. It was the least he could do after everything that she'd done for him, so he was going to do his best not to lose her now. "I'm okay..." he murmured to her softly, shaking his head. "It's just my Master is all." he shrugged, following her gaze up and down the corridor to check for people. "I should'a known he'd be with the guards if they got any leads on where I was... but old habits die hard an' all that." he gave her a weak smile and stepped out of the doors to look down the corridor. He didn't have any intention of running either; he had an idea for if things got really hopeless, but he didn't want to risk it. For now he'd just carry on under the impression that they were going to get out without a problem.
"They're coming in through the front doors now... they've gone to the left of the house first, by the sound of it. It's a little fainter in that direction anyway." he muttered to her, having moved the cloak to hear better, ears twitching this way and that to catch the sounds. He didn't know how much it would help her, but knowing where the guards were going was better than wandering around blindly, wasn't it? The sooner they got out of here, the better. He was beginning to feel bad for dragging Pari into all of this, he had to admit. Perhaps it would have been better if he'd just stayed in the arena after all. He'd gotten so far beyond caring it was practically bearable, but now they were both in deep trouble.

She nodded to him as he explained where the guards were, moving to swiftly head down the corridor. Luckily for them, the servants stairs were to the right of the house, as was the kitchen door. If they were quick and quiet they should be able to make it out before the guards surrounded the house, and she knew of a gap in the wall that protected Roshan's property that they could escape through. It all depended on time though...and no matter how quickly she moved it seemed that they were going to run out of time. Maybe it was because she was scared but everything seemed to take so long, and their footsteps on the floorboards seemed so loud.
She tugged open a concealed door when they reached the end of the corridor, ushering Kai inside before closing the door. It was the style that servants doors were hidden, which bought them a little more time. Like Kai had realised, the guards were searching blind, and they had to use that in their favour if they were going to get out of here. There was no choice but to get out of here, because the punishment for the both of them if they were caught was something that she refused to think about.
It was dark in the stairway, so much so that Pari trailed her hand along the wall so that she knew where she was going, holding her hand out infront of her so that she would feel the door when they reached the bottom. She paused by the door when she reached it, looking up at where she expected that Kai would be stood. "Can you hear anyone in the kitchen?" She whispered.

Kai was surprisingly good at being quiet and following orders, but then could you expect anything more from a slave? He waited patiently as she led them down the darkness of the corridor, hovering behind her as she paused outside of the kitchen door. The guards would search the servants' quarters last, he figured, which bought them a little more time. And he too had noted how the door seemed hidden, which would help them greatly. He listened carefully for any noise within the room when Pari asked him to, frowning eventually and shaking his head. "I can't hear anythin'... no footsteps, no breathing... nothin'. I think all the servants got rounded up outside when they started the raid. But it's safe in there." he nodded to her, reaching out to open the door of the kitchen, which proved to be empty.
Kai moved swiftly into the room now to check that his senses hadn't been deceived, only nodding briefly when he realised he had been right. "Where now?" he asked softly, looking around. He was known for having a knack for escape, and even here he could spot a few methods for getting out. The grounds were another thing entirely, however. And with Pari here, who knew the layout of the house, finding emergency escape routes seemed a little redundant. But he was happy for having noted them anyway.

They made an alright team, Pari and Kai, didn't they? Right now Pari knew where they needed to be going and Kai could tell if there were any guards in their way. She smiled faintly at that thought, though she was quickly brought back into the reality of the situation as Kai spoke, the girl nodding to him a little as he opened the door and stepped into the kitchen. Pari didn't pause to look around as she followed him, trusting his instincts. If he could smell that his Master was amongst the group of guards then she was pretty sure that he would have been able to sense if there was someone in this room or not.
She swiftly crossed the room, heading for the back door. It was unlocked, of course, Roshan had told her that he would leave it unlocked, just incase. She tugged the door open, peering outside to make sure that there wasn't anyone about before looking back to make sure that Kai was following. "We have to run now." She whispered to him, pointing to the wall. "Once we're in the shadow of the wall we should be safer." She explained, lingering for a second longer to make sure that he understood before moving.
Pari had to concentrate on not tripping herself up as she ran, holding onto her bad so to keep it still. She wasn't the fastest person in the world, but it didn't take long for her to dive into the deep shadow under the wall, panting as she turned to look for Kai. They were almost there, you could even see the little hole in the wall from where they were, half hidden by vines. They had almost made it...almost.

Kai moved swiftly and easily to follow her as she moved out of the back door, nodding to her at the news that they had to run. He waited for her to leave first; she'd mentioned being clumsy even if he hadn't personally seen this in action, but he thought it was best to keep behind her just in case she tripped. Kai, on the other hand, could probably be considered as incredibly fast. His demon heritage made sure of that, and he flitted after her with ease, making sure there was nothing in the way for her to fall over and keeping his ears pricked for any noise that might signal someone coming after them, or a voice of someone shouting that they'd seen them. He slunk into the shadows after her easily enough, pushing his hair out of his face. "I'm here." he told her softly; he could see the hole as well, they were almost there.
But the voice that cut smoothly through the darkness just before they were about to dash for the hole in the wall made his blood run cold.
"Well, well Azad. Never in a million years did I expect you to get this far away." Even now, the sound of his Master's voice sent a chill up the half-demon's spine, but he didn't think he'd ever been this panicked to have been found. This could mean the end of everything, oh, this wasn't good... he whirled around, the cloak flaring out behind him as he faced the aging noble, an angry growl rising up in his throat. He wasn't going back now. He'd kill his Master before he got dragged back to the arena, and even his Master seemed to notice the strange defiance in his pet that hadn't appeared for almost a decade. "So, leaving has made you feral again, Azad. I knew you could never be a tame wolf." he sneered.
Tame? Kai would show him tame. He could feel himself getting angry, fighting to control the hot rage flooding his system, and the sound of his own hearbeat getting faster. Just one step closer, and he would show him how feral a wolf could be.

Pari had been about to usher Kai towards the hole in the wall when the voice broke the quiet, the girl instantly spinning around to face Kai's Master. She recognized his voice from the arena, and the same anger bubbled inside of her as when she had first heard him speaking. Pari refused to let Kai get taken back to the arena, even if it meant her getting caught in his place. She gently touched her hand to his arm, as though to remind him that she was there to look after him, before moving to step in front of him. She didn't need to look up at him to know how he felt, she could feel the anger radiating from him. If she didn't do something quickly she suspected that Kai might just do something terrible.
Now, Pari agreed that Kai's Master was, for the lack of a better word, a total and complete bastard. He was a vile old man, but that didn't mean that he should die. No-one had the right to choose when someone else died. She understood that sometimes it was inevitable, in self defence you may have to kill, but right now it wasn't inevitable. They could get out of this without anyone getting hurt...well...too badly hurt.
"He is not going back with you." Pari told him bluntly, suddenly crouching down to run her hand over the ground, not taking her eyes from Kai's Master. She quickly found what she was looking for, her hand closing around a good sized rock as she stood up, weighing it in her hand. "I don't want to hurt you, but this can't be avoided. Don't try and follow us." She warned before narrowing her eyes for a moment. In a swift movement the rock had left her hand and was flying through the air, heading straight towards the man's left temple. She could have killed him with that throw, but she had been careful not to throw the rock too hard. Maybe she had thrown it a little harder than necessary though; she wanted him to feel the pain still when he woke up.

Kai jumped a little as he felt her hand on his arm, not seeming to have realised just how close to breaking point he was. He'd almost struck out at her to keep her away when she was just... in front of him. Confronting his Master. CONFRONTING him. Kai had learned something just then. Pari must have had balls of steel.
His Master, on the other hand, couldn't see even the slightest bit of a threat in the young woman, even sneering at her as she told him defiantly what would and wouldn't happen with his slave. He'd teach her a thing or two, noble or not. But he didn't even seem to notice the rock in her hand, and he definitely didn't see her throw it. But by the gods did he feel it. Kai's entire posture changed as his Master crumpled gracelessly to the ground; he straightened up and tilted his head curiously as if trying to figure out what had happened, his formerly clenched fists falling to his sides. "...You knocked him out." he commented softly, feeling the anger subside as he watched the unconscious tyrant lie motionless on the ground. He was definitely breathing, that was certain. But he was out cold.
"I can't believe it. You completely knocked him out..." he murmured ever so quietly, brushing past her to look down at his Master with a savage sort of hatred. He didn't want to tell Pari about the thoughts that were going through his head right now, about the things he would potentially do to this demon with the facade of a human. No, she didn't need to know that. Instead, he stepped forward and directed a swift, rather hard kick to his Master's side, scowling as he stepped back and moving to walk away again. "C'mon, let's go. Before anyone notices what's happened." he muttered, leaving it at that and not looking back over his shoulder as he made for the hole in the wall, slinking through it and out into the open where the sun was just beginning to rise, and it smelled of freedom.

Pari was stood with her hands on her hips as Kai's Master crumpled to the ground, a satisfied little smirk tugging at the edges of her lips. She really shouldn't be pleased with herself for knocking out an old man, but she couldn't help it. He was an evil old man, and deserved much more than having rocks thrown at him, but he would get what he deserved sooner or later; what goes around comes around.
"I did knock him out, what did you think I was going to do?" She asked, glancing up at Kai as he moved to walk past her. She didn't even attempt to stop him, waiting patiently to do whatever he wanted to do to his Master so that they could leave. Hopefully after Kai's little bit of revenge he would feel a little better and would really be able to put all of this behind him. The arena, fighting, his Master; they were all in the past now. She winced just a little as he kicked the old man, looking worried that he might snap and lose his temper. They didn't have time for Kai to go all demon murderer on them now, they needed to get out of there.
She breathed out a small sigh of relief as Kai turned back to her, smiling to him a little and nodding. His Master would be alright, maybe a little sore but nothing fatal, hopefully nothing fatal, Pari wouldn't like to think that she had helped to end someone's life. She shook her head to get rid of that thought, swiftly moving to follow Kai, ducking through the hole in the wall.
"Carriage should be waiting for us when we get there, it's just down this street." She told him, turning to head down the street, looking over her shoulder at him. "I'm glad that you didn't hurt him too much, you know. Better to leave him to grow old and lonely than making it easy for him and killing him..."

Kai was stood with his back to her as he waited for her to follow him out of the hole in the wall, now listening to the faint sounds of the guards crashing around Roshan's home in search of them. He looked up as she spoke to him, glancing over his shoulder and smirking lightly. "It'd feel kind of pointless hurting him when he wasn't awake to see it anyway..." he muttered. Not the most promising of things to say, but at least he hadn't killed the man. And that had been right at the top of his to-do list if they hadn't had to run for it. He turned to follow her silently, tugging the hood of his cloak up again as they wandered down the dark streets. They'd made it out of the house, the last thing he'd need was to be recognised and caught by someone now.
He recognised the little sign of a setting sun even though he couldn't read the name, as he'd hoped. He'd never planned to leave and run for it without Pari, but it was kind of comforting to know that if the situation had called for it, he'd have been able to find the carriage. "Where are we headed now, anyway...?" he asked softly, moving easily to keep up with her, fighting the urge to look back over his shoulder. Call it paranoia, but he couldn't get the image of his Master out of his head, as though he should have killed him just to make sure the guy would never be a problem to him again, whatever happened.

No, Kai's comment wasn't very reassuring, but at least he hadn't killed his Master. He might have thought about it, he might still be thinking about it, and there was no doubt that he would have enjoyed it, but he didn't do it. Afterall, it was actions which defined a person, not their thoughts. Plus, that was the only time today that the more violent side to his nature had shown, she took reassurance from the fact that he had been very reluctant to bite her back at the arena. Hopefully that meant that his anger rested solely with his Master, and maybe anyone else that tried to drag him back to that Hell hole.
"Right now we are going to catch the carriage I booked, and that is going to take us to Sinna. That's a town just next to here, it will tke a couple of hours to get there. From there I don't really have any plans though." She admitted, glad to move away from what had just happened. "Carriage shouldn't get searched, and that's even less likely seeing as lots of the guards are at Roshan's house...I hope he's alright." She brushed a stray strand of hair back from her face as she looked thoughtful, glancing back over her shoulder to the wall to make sure that they weren't being followed.
"I can't believe that we just got out of there." She murmured, rubbing at the side of her head as she looked forward again, rounding a corner. The inn that she had told them about was right in front of them, and the carriage was stood waiting outside, just as she hd said it would be.

"Sinna..." he spoke the name softly, frowning a little as he followed after her around the corner, letting his eyes drift swiftly over the carriage. He had heard of Sinna briefly in passing; his Master occasionally went there to buy other slaves, though Kai had never seen him return with any new ones. Kai brought in too much money for him to consider that. Though he guessed his Master would be looking for new slaves to make into his personal toys, and although he should have some empathy with the wretches from the arena who, like himself were forced to fight day in and day out, he couldn't say that he did. You had to look after number one when you were in a place like that. Any sympathy was soon knocked out of you, physically, if not just mentally.
He found himself trailing over to the carriage as the sun finally broke over the horizon, bleaching the stones on the ground white and lighting up the sandy coloured buildings. The driver leant out curiously, having been waiting for at least an hour. Although, spotting Pari, he smiled lightly. "Doors are all open for ye, ma'am. Straight to Sinna, no stops, right?" he nodded to her, leaning around where he was sat to tug open the carriage door. Kai took no time in clambering inside into the shade, not just because of the heat outside but because he was determined that even if the guards had followed them, there was no way they'd catch them once they were well on their way. Not until they reached Sinna, at least.
"They'll not arrest your friend, I don't think... all they have is the word of an old man against a young, upstandin' noble. I reckon he'll be fine... but my Master'll no doubt pay some guards to come lookin' for me." he murmured softly once he was in the carriage, his voice low so the driver wouldn't catch his words. It was on the tip of his tongue to say that they should have 'taken care' of his Master while they had the chance, but he got the feeling Pari didn't want to hear that. So he kept his mouth shut.

Pari didn't realise that she had sped up a little at the sight of the carriage, glad that it was there waiting for them. She had half expected that her plan would fail and that it wouldn't be there, and if that happened she would be at a loss as to what to do next. They wouldn't have been able to just walk out of town, and she wouldn't have had enough money to hire another carriage. Her relief showed in her smile as she looked up at the driver, nodding to confirm what he had said. "Yes, thank you. Straight to Sinna and no stops." She repeated, "We can set off straight away, if that will be alright." She added, giving the driver another smile before clambering into the carriage, pulling the door closed behind her.
There were light curtains hung over the windows in the doors, to give privacy to the occupants of the carriage, Pair making sure that they were pulled fully over the windows before she settled into the seat opposite Kai. "Hmmm, I hope that you are right. Roshan is pretty powerful though, I doubt that they would dare arrest him..." She murmured, sounding distant as she reached up to let her hair down before retying it up, making sure that it was neater this time and that no wisps of hair fell into her face. She couldn't see that Roshan would be in any serious trouble, he would be able to work his way out of the situation and blame it all on the old man's supersitions. She did, however, still feel bad for all the trouble that she had caused him.
"You will be able to take the cloak off once we are out of the city, I'd advise leaving it on up until then though, just incase." She nodded to Kai as she looked up at him. "Your Master can send as many people after us as he likes, but he will never catch us. Once we are out of the city his power weakens anyway, and when we get to Sinna we can disappear."

He smiled a little at just how certain she sounded at the idea that they'd not get found or caught, and he nodded to her lightly while the carriage driver urged the horses to get moving. The carriage rumbled away without a problem, and Kai was rather amused at the feeling of being in the thing. He'd never ridden in a carriage before, but he was soon too preoccupied by his tiredness to be curious about it. "I don't mind keeping the cloak on till we get there... better that than getting caught..." he mumbled to her, smiling sleepily and settling back in the seat to fold his arms. He didn't even intend to fall asleep, but with the warmth and the shade of the inside of the carriage and the fact that he hadn't long gotten up, he soon found himself drifting off.
Sinna wasn't a big place, not nearly as big as Dibos, but it had most of the things you would expect in your average city; the pale buildings glinted in the sunlight and the marketplace was fairly bustling, and in the distance the town hall could be seen. Women and children wandered to and fro without a care for the carriage that was making its way inside the gates of the town; Sinna seemed to be a lot more carefree than Dibos was, and as the road made a slight bend Kai found himself waking up. Whoaaaa... he had slept through the entire journey? That had... confused him to say the least. But obviously he was getting a lot more sleep than he would have in the arena, and he had to admit that he felt much better for it when he woke up. Like he actually had energy to burn for once.
He was about to wish Pari a good morning... or afternoon, whatever it was, when the carriage suddenly pulled to a stop. Mm...? They were there already? A moment or two passed and a soft tapping came from the door outside, and the driver's friendly voice filtered through. "Ma'am, we've arrived at Sinna." he told them softly, "We're just a few streets away from the town square, I hope that's alright."

The rumbling and rocking of the carriage was nothing new to Pari, though it didn't make the trip any easier. She hated being couped up like this, with nothing to do other than look out of the window and watch miles and miles worth of sand roll past. Kai had the right idea. She turned so that she was sat sideways with her legs up on the seat, having kicked her shoes off so that she wouldn't get dust or dirt on the seats. Once she was comfortable it didn't take very long to drift off to sleep, the warmth in the carriage alone enough to help to lull her off to sleep.
Like Kai, she slept for the whole journey, only waking up when the driver tapped on the door, jumping a little and falling from where she was perched on the seat. "Owie." She mumbled as she rubbed at the back of her head, blinking sleepily before smiling to Kai. "I don't fall all the way here and I fall when it stops." She laughed lightly and sat up, pulling on her shoes before moving to open the door. "Thank you. This will be fine." She smiled to him as she clambered out of the carriage, smoothing out her clothes as she looked around.
"So, what do you want to do now Kai?" She asked, tilting her head at him. "I hear that there is a lovely oasis just outside of town. We will have to walk a while to get there, but I would bet that it's beautiful, much better than that garden we sat in yesterday." She nodded as she began to wander away from the carriage. She had already paid for the carriage, so there was nothing else to sort out there. "Oh, but would you like something to eat? I think that I might be hungry...and a little thirsty..."
