"Shiny?" Kamui repeated quizzically, rubbing his ear. "Ohh. Ya' meant my earring, huh? Hang on a sec..." He began to dig through the pockets on his vest. He soon produced a shiny new copper coin. He held the coin up and watched as it caught a glint off one of the sun beams filtering through the trees. "Ooh, look at that, eh?" Then he held it in front of Chiisai and grinned. "Now, I'll give this ta' you, but ya' hafta promise ta' not ta' interupt me while I'm fixin' your friend here, 'kay?" Meanwhile, Sakurako's cool gaze had turned to an icy glare and Yibbles, with a full belly, was content to doze off. He was on his back, his little piggy feet sticking in the air as he dreamed of running through endless fields of mushrooms.

Fujikoru was both relieved and disappointed that Kamui hadn't let the wolf devour Chiisai. He hated the little fox, or rather envied, but the two came hand-in-hand, more often than not. Was he actually speaking to Chiisai, like Kimiko did? Then it hit him.
"You're a demon," he said. "A...," he glanced at Sakurako, "wolf demon?" Demons didn't naturally go about healing the injured. What was wrong with this guy? Fujikoru was instantly more suspicious. How judicial of him, to be distrusting a demon when he, himself, was one.
"Shiny," Chiisai repeated, snatching the copper coin and hopping up to nuzzle Kamui's left cheek. He jumped down and pranced toward Fujikoru's sack, where he normally hid his stash. Fujikoru glared at him, momentarily forgetting that he was waiting for a response from Kamui.

He smiled as he watched the little fox for a moment, then turned to Fujikoru and nodded. Used to such reactions, Kamui wasn't fazed by the young cougar demon's suspicious attitude. "That's right... well, half right. I'm hanyou, half-blood. A quarter dog demon, a quarter monkey demon, to be precise." As he spoke, he moved to Kimiko's leg. "Heh... Like I said, it's a good thing she's out, or else this would be painful." He carefully examined her leg for a moment, then began the process of setting it.

Fujikoru watched him as Chiisai wriggled about in the rucksack, adding his little gift from Kamui to his growing collection of "shiny" things. He had currencies from several different countries in there, along with a lot of jewelry and other miscellany. He even had a pure gold hair comb that some lady was wearing in her hair, before he had snatched it.
"A half-demon? Like Kimiko-sama," Fujikoru said mostly to himself, but then winced. Would Kimiko be displeased that he'd said that? He didn't know. Sometimes, she would beat him for nothing, and others, she would let his larger blunders slip without so much as a word.
A moment or so later, Chiisai emerged from the bag with a silver chain in his mouth, dragging it over to Kamui. He had found it tangled in a bush on one of their travels and, naturally, taken it. Lightly, he leapt into one of Kamui's pockets, so he wouldn't disturb him, and left the necklace there before hopping back out and padding over to curl up against Kimiko's side.

Though he had a look of concentration as he worked on Kimiko's leg, a light smile flitted across his face as he felt the small fox leave something in his pocket. Once he was done setting her leg bones into the correct position, he looked up at Fujikoru. "I'm gonna use a technique ta' help speed up the healin' process, but don't worry, it's not holy magic. While I do that, can ya' find a couple sticks, for a splint?" A blueish-white light began to emanate from his hands, which he held over Kimiko's leg, bathing it in the soft light.

Fujikoru would have normally been quite appalled at the sight of the light, but, now that he knew Kamui was half-demon himself, he trusted him not to be using holy magic enough to give it a couple seconds' trial. It didn't seem to be doing her any damage.
"Fetch!" he demanded at Chiisai, pointing in a direction at random. Chiisai rose his ears and opened one eye to examine Fujikoru. He understood that Fujikoru was talking to him, but he had no idea what he was saying. Even if he had, he would probably find the idea humorous. No feline was telling him what to do. If a wolf with no one to answer to couldn't stop him from doing what he wanted, then what was a cougar-demon who was afraid of his master going to do? Absolutely nothing. He had learned through much experience that, if Kimiko was conscious, he was indestructible.
Giving up on the fox, Fujikoru muttered to himself and stalked off.
"Stupid worthless fox," he mumbled on into the trees. "Chewing things and stealing things and... he never listens! He's so smug, too..."

As Fujikoru walked off into the trees, Kamui continued his task. Drawing forth Ki from the center of his being, he channeled the energy outward, through his palms, directing it to her wounds where it would mingle with her own natural lifeforce. He then moved, holding his hands over her fractured rib, and repeated the process.

Fujikoru meandered about the woods, examining sticks, not really knowing what to look for. He tried finding solid, strong ones that wouldn't be too large to use, though he didn't really know what too large was. He was determined, however, to serve Kimiko, and so came back moments later with an arm full of different sticks.
Chiisai had opened his eyes to watch Kamui, his ear flicking at first in agitation at the bright light, then his eyes widened with awe and curiosity. Now that was shiny. He wondered if the glow would fit into Fujikoru's bag...
"I'm back," Fujikoru stated, setting the sticks down next to Kamui. "I didn't really know what was needed... Normally, her wounds heal very fast, but, when she gets injured in her purely demonic form, they heal at a damn human's rate. Curse her half-blood." He looked at Kimiko sympathetically, though, if she was aware, she would have beat him for such a demeaning expression.

"I see. It doesn't surprise me. Her aura is greatly depleted." Kamui without looking up at Fujikoru, still concentrating on her rib. After another moment the glow slowly faded as he closed his hands. He turned and looked through the sticks. "These'll do," He said selecting a couple long, relatively straight sticks. "Thanks." He pulled a small knife from a hidden pocket, just above his tail, and began to deftly whittle off some of the rougher or pointier points on the stick. He set the sticks aside and reached for the bandages, cutting a section of it into strips. From another pocket he removed a vial of green paste. One of the strips he smeared with the green paste, which had been stored in a small vial in another of his pockets. He warmed it with a quick burst of Ki energy. "An herbal poultice, to help ease pain and inflammation. Hehe. I made it myself." He explained with a grin as he gently applied the strip to her leg, followed by the splint, which was composed of the sticks and another strip of bandage. Moving to her rib, he smeared another strip with more of the poultice and placed it directly over her fractured rib. Stretching it from her sternum to her spine, he didn't wrap it around her entire chest, which would restrict breathing. He applied a couple additional strips on either side of her rib, running parallel to one another. When she woke it should help decrease the pain by restricting the movement of the fractured area. He again held out his hands, placing one above her forehead and one above her her chest. They began to glow a soft bluish-white again for a moment. He then sat back and took a breath. "Phew. I think that should do it. My poultice an' Ki treatments should speed healing time, on top of her demonic blood, but she still needs to take it easy for a week or two." He grinned again and looked at Fujikoru. "Hehe. In the meantime, how 'bout we scrounge up some food, eh?"
(I was thinking we could skip ahead a few hours, to nightfall, before she wakes up? Like, Kamui and Fuji have got a campfire going and they're cooking up and/or eating something... or something like that. Or whatever you wanna do.)

ooc;; Yep, sounds good. After this post, we'll skip ahead. ^^
bic;; Fujikoru nodded, setting his sack down. He looked at Kimiko and was pensive for a moment.
"Very well," he said resolutely. "I'll be no help searching for fruit or vegetables, so, if you wouldn't mind, I'll leave that to you. I'm going to stay close to Kimiko and hunt what I can. I won't leave her alone." He looked back at Kamui. "Sound like a plan?" He raised his eyebrows. This man was sticking around to help find food? How odd. But Fujikoru would leave the interrogating for Kimiko when she woke up. No doubt she'd want some answers from a stranger that bandaged her and cooked her some food. He wondered if she would be mad at Fujikoru for letting him. He winced at the mere thought.

"All right." Kamui nodded. "I'm not that much of a hunter anyway."
*A few hours later*
"Mmmm. Doesn't that just make your mouth water?" Kamui commented aloud to no one in particular and popped a berry in his mouth as he took in the aroma of the food. He looked almost excited as he checked the meat. "I think it's almost done!" There were thick slabs of venison roasting on a spit over their campfire, along with smaller chunks of meat on skewers, threaded with wild mushrooms, onions, garlic, and other wild vegetables Kamui had found. He had also found some wild herbs and spices, like sage, thyme, peppercorn, and juniper berries to season the meat Fujikoru had provided. Sakurako was already dining on a chunk of raw meat, as was Yibbles on a variety of berries Kamui had collected.

Fujikoru sat across the campfire from Kamui in the lotus position, a collection of food he had picked from the selection in his lap. Chiisai was frantically searching the berries and vegetables for an apple, his personal favorite. He sniffed about a little bit, but the smell of onions over the fire overpowered his sensitive nose. He looked at Kamui, then hopped into his lap, looking up at him expectantly.
"Apple?" he asked.
Fujikoru's head snapped to the side as Kimiko groaned in her sleep and rolled over onto her side.
"Interesting," he mumbled to himself. "She usually doesn't move like that until after the first couple days."
"Fu... Fujikoru," Kimiko stammered, her eyes fluttering open. The cougar-demon's expression was one of surprise and fright.
"Kimiko-sama?" Fujikoru responded.
"I smell food," Kimiko said, trying to sit up and hissing at the restricting bandages. Fujikoru hurriedly got up and went to her side to help. She shoved him aside. "I don't need your help," she growled. "I can get up myself." With a forceful push of her arms, she was on her feet. "Who bandaged me?" she asked instantly, looking down. Fujikoru was rather useless at wrapping wounds; it couldn't have been him that did it.
"Errm," Fujikoru mumbled, realizing that Kamui hadn't said his name. He swallowed hard as Kimiko sniffed the air, then wheeled around to face the orange-haired man.
"You!" she growled accusingly, pointing a finger at him.
"You two know each other?" Fujikoru asked quietly, stepping back from Kimiko, who sent a sideways glare at him.
"You let him... touch me?" Kimiko snarled, grabbing Fujikoru by his shirt collar. She normally would have thrown him into something, but she was much too weak, especially after her outburst. She released him and knelt before the fire to catch her breath. "What are you doing here?" she finally directed at Kamui, snatching up a handful of berries and stuffing them in her mouth.

Sakurako looked up from her meat and glared at the tiny fox, but Kamui only smiled, so she returned her attention the meat. "Hmm..." Kamui reached into his pockets. "Let's see what we've got, eh?" He pulled his empty hands from his pocket and held them up in front of the small fox. "Well, sorry, litt'le fella... Ah! Wait a second..." He reached behind Chiisai's large ear and with a flick of his wrist, an apple appeared in his hand, the fire light reflecting on the shiny piece of fruit. "Hrm?" He looked over at Kimiko as she moved and watched her get up and interact with Fujikoru. "Me." He nodded as Kimiko pointed at him. "I'm cookin' dinner... Which I believe is done. You shouldn't overdo it. Rest, eat, enjoy. Oh, I also made this for ya'." He held up a wooden walking stick, which he had fashioned with his knife, from one of the sticks Fujikoru had collected. It was simple, but sturdy looking.

Chiisai's face lit up. Well, there was receiving a delectable, shiny apple, and then there was having a delectable, shiny apple magically appear from behind your ear. Chiisai certainly preferred the latter. He instantly dug in to the apple, tearing apart the meat and drenching his face in its juice. He didn't even stop eating when Kimiko woke up. He was quite used to her screaming and breaking things, and knew, no matter how mad she got, that he was safe.
Kimiko made a deep, guttural growl as she was offered the walking stick. Chiisai actually looked up from his apple to watch her. This caused her to move her eyes from the stick to the little fox, her eyes narrowing.
"Traitor," she said in the canine tongue after swallowing the berries.
"Apple?" Chiisai replied helplessly, flattening his ears against his back. Kimiko moved her glare back to Kamui.
"I don't need any help," she hissed, snatching the walking stick and tossing it aside. "Fujikoru could have bandaged me and cooked. You're doing me no favors! And what were you thinking, interfering in my battle?"
"Oh no," Fujikoru muttered, almost silently. "Kimiko-sama, shouldn't we... be a bit more... grateful?" Kimiko spun around, a fistful of berries being crushed in her hand from her anger, the juice running through her fingers.
"Grateful?!" she exclaimed. "I should tear your throat out for the mere suggestion! This fool interrupted my fight and... touched me. If you don't hold your tongue, I will sever it!" Fujikoru moved to sit by the fire.
"Sorry, Kimiko-sama," he muttered.
"Not yet, you're not," she growled, dropping the mushed berries to the ground and grabbing more food to shovel into her mouth. Manners were definitely not her forte.

As Kimiko ranted, Sakurako watched her, her intelligent and chilly eyes showing clear contempt for the woman. However, she was content to remain silent. Yibbles remained oblivious, as usual. "Psst. She's kinda scary, huh...?" Kamui whispered to Fujikoru, though he did not appear fazed much by Kimiko. He shrugged as he picked up one of the skewers. "I dunno. It was my impression that Oyrk had ya' beat, but perhaps I was mistaken. But don't worry, my hands were clean when I bandaged ya'. Or... is it that you're shy? I didn't sneak any peeks."
