Rory seemed to calm a little as he moved forward and put his hands on her arms, the anger fading from her eyes as he spoke. She felt dizzy all of a sudden, rather glad as he wrapped his arms around her. If he hadn't been there to lean against she probably wouldn't still be on her feet, then again, if he hadn't been so close then she probably wouldn't have felt so light headed. There arguement was gone from her memory as he tilted her chin up, the Princess blushing faintly, a soft smile on her lips. "Well, now you know." She murmured, her voice only quiet not because he was so close. Her heart beat had quickened by now, her hands resting against his chest.
Then he kissed her.
The room slid out of focus as their lips met, her eyes closing and her arm moving up around his neck to steady herself. Her heart, which had been beating so quickly before, seemed to stop, either that or she was simply too distracted to notice it anymore. It was probably the latter. She didn't care, she didn't really care about anything other than Phoenix right at this moment in time. Did anything other than him really matter? Obviously not, her mind had disregarded everything but him. It felt like she had been waiting for this for far longer than she realised, and, for the first real time since they arrived in Handel, she was happy.
It seemed that she had caught his attention after all.

Phoenix didn't want to stop kissing her, he decided. It was nice, especially considering that he'd been waiting to do it for so long. If she wanted his attention, then she definitely had it now, more than anyone else in Handel, probably more than anyone in Demia. If only he hadn't been such an idiot and had realised this from the start then this last month might have been a lot more enjoyable for both of them, instead of this coldness and almost formality between them that had never been there before. One of his hands moved to gently tug the ribbon from her hair to free it, letting him run his fingers through her silky locks. He'd never kissed anyone like this, as far as he could remember. And Phoenix had given a lot of kisses. But this was more like... dare he even think it. It was more like love. That frightened him, but he was much too happy and distracted to care.
Eventually, of course, they had to part, and he moved to kiss her forehead softly before he gathered her against his chest, moving so he could lean back against the desk. He was afraid that Rory might fall over, and if she did he didn't think he'd be able to hold her up right now. "Yeah. Now I know." he chuckled rather breathlessly, resting his head on top of hers and sighing deeply. A lot of tension that he hadn't even realised was there had just bled out of him, and he was watching the slightly open door dazedly, his eyes occasionally flitting to the smashed glass on the floor nearby. They'd moved from her throwing things at him to him kissing her, not a bad way for an argument to progress, no?
"...We should probably start moving some more boxes." he murmured after a long while, although he made no attempt to let her go or move away from the desk to collect more things to lift.

No, they should definatly not stop kissing. It didn't matter that she was forgetting to breath, or that her legs had turned to jelly, they should definatly not stop kissing. Now, Rory didn't have the same experience to draw on that Phoenix did, but she had to say that this was pleasant, more than pleasant, probably closer to amazing really. Why on earth hadn't they realised earlier? Why had they not had this arguement a month ago? It would have saved so much worrying, and saved her from getting so mad at him. Oh well, that didn't matter, because now he knew, for sure. She knew too, he didn't even need to say anything for her to know that what she felt was reciprocated.
By the time they parted, Rory was blushing brightly, seeming adorably out of breath as she let of head rest on his shoulder. Breathe, she had to remember to breathe. How could she remember to breathe when she was busy being so happy? She didn't want to move, not yet, it was too soon. She was more than content to just stay there with his arms around her, thank you very much.
"Mmm, we should move boxes." She agreed with a nod, though it was clear that she had no intentions of going anywhere. "I don't think I can stand up without falling over." She admitted with a small laugh, shifting just a little to look up at him and smile.

"It was that good, huh?" he joked to her, winking as she looked up at him and shifting to prop her up a little more, to stop her from falling over. He seemed to be recovering a lot faster than Rory was, but then he had known where he had stood for a while, and he had ways of getting away from the things that were bothering him. Rory, he realised, had been left alone in the house for God knows how long. Phoenix was instantly stung by a pang of guilt. Suddenly he really felt like he had been a bastard, and he understood both her annoyance and her throwing caution to the wind and openly flirting with him. He smirked and rested his hand gently on her cheek, realising that she was blushing and seeming so, so temped to sweep down and steal another kiss from her lips. But even with everything that had just happened, she was still the Princess, and wouldn't be used to this kind of attention. He didn't want to push his luck too far, or even worse, make her faint.
Somehow, he eventually moved from the desk and stood her on her feet, thinking for a moment or two before hesitantly letting her go, as if to test how she was on her feet. "We'll... argue more later, yeah?" he flashed her a dazzling smile and leant down to lift another few boxes, moving to the door and absently kicking it open so he could walk out. Rory probably wouldn't notice, but Chris definitely would. It was very uncommon for things to surprise Phoenix, let alone make him feel flustered or... well, whatever Rory made him feel, he was still trying to come to terms with the concepts of 'love' and all of that.
He was looking firmly at the floor as he walked in, setting the boxes down with the others and straightening up again, sighing deeply. Okay. He should be alright. Pushing his bangs out of his face (and smirking a little as he realised the consequences of when someone had done that last) he turned around to glance at Chris. "Thanks. Bastard." he smiled cheerfully, moving to the door again.

The Princess may very well have fainted if he had tried to kiss her again. As much as she wanted Phoenix's attention, she wouldn't know how to react if he fawned on her like he did with the other women. She was a Princess, she wasn't used to this kind of attention. That had been her first kiss (She wasn't going to count the Chris incident, that wasn't a real kiss, it didn't count.). Right now, she was happy with the attention that she was receiving, more than happy with the attention that she was receiving, closing her eyes and tilting her head to rest her cheek against his hand. Silly blushing, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't make that stop. "Yeah, later." She agreed with a dazed nod, putting a hand out on the desk as he let go of her, as though to steady herself. That had all happened so fast, she needed a moment to let her mind catch up with everything. Phoenix had kissed her. Oh, she was going to be distractable for the rest of the day now, there was no doubt about it. She wasn't going to be able to pay attention to anything, not that she minded, of course. It was nice to feel this happy again. She took a moment to compose herself after the thief left, trying to shake off that light headed feeling before she headed back down to the study, completly forgetting the tray that she had gone up to collect. She would only end up dropping everything everywhere if she tried to carry it down now, it could just stay upstairs. Chris glanced up at Phoenix as he came back into the room, giving him a knowing little smile before simply nodding to him. "No problem, but I didn't do it for you." He murmured, letting the topic slip as the Princess stepped into the room. Ah, it was obvious that their arguement had ended well, she was practically radiating happiness. He couldn't help feel a small pang of sadness that he couldn't be the person to make her so happy, but that was quickly brushed aside. She was happy so he was happy, that was all that needed to be said. The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur for Rory. As predicted, she couldn't concentrate on anything, often drifting off into day dream, completly forgetting what she had been doing. In the end, Chris abandoned moving the boxes to help her with unpacking them. He had to roll his eyes at her, everytime Phoenix walked into the room there was an exchange of meaningful glances, and she blushed. Of course she blushed, she was adorable when she blushed. It was late by the time they finished, the housekeeper serving them dinner in the study rather than the dining room, making the meal far more relaxed and, for once, conversation didn't seem akward. Maybe it was just because Rory was in such a good mood that she didn't notice it. She had to say, she preferred this room as his study in comparison with the other. For one, it was bigger, so it felt less cramped, but there was also the window, which was large and let in of light, and the fireplace to keep it warm in the winter. It was almost a shame that this wasn't his permanant study. Then again, from what she knew, Chris didn't really spend very much time at home. After dinner, they all headed up to bed. It was getting late by that point, and even Rory had to admit that she was pretty tired. She was used to an early bedtime again now. However, when she got to her room and got into bed, she just couldn't sleep. At first, she couldn't put her finger on why, but then it became all too obvious; she wanted to see Phoenix. Well, there was a simple solution to that. She was still in her nightie as she padded across the corridor to his room, her pillow hugged to her chest as she knocked on the door. She didn't want to sleep on her own, not tonight. Phoenix would let her in, right?

If the afternoon had passed in a blur to Rory, then it definitely had for Phoenix. Although he was, admittedly, able to compose himself a lot more than she was, he was still terribly distracted. It was a good thing that all he had to do was move a few boxes and help to stack them, instead of doing some terribly complicated task that involved thinking. If he had done anything complex, then you could have guaranteed that it would take him almost all day to do it. You could practically see the snow piled up against the house by the time they stopped for dinner, and even as a slummer Phoenix could tell that it was a lot better in this study than in the other one. There was more space, and light, and warmth. All of those had to be good things, right? He too realised that conversation seemed to flow a lot more easily than... well, ever. It was nice, in a way.
She wasn't the only one who found herself tired by the time darkness fell. Phoenix had become a night person all over again, and originally being stuck inside the house would have had him climbing the walls, but he suddenly found himself needing to go up to sleep. He was exhausted, and he didn't know why. Well, of course he knew, but he hadn't realised how being emotionally drained could make you physically tired. He had washed and undressed for bed and was sprawled under the covers, staring up at the ceiling. His arms were tucked under his head, and it was clear that although he was sleepy, it was late and his body wasn't shutting down and his mind wasn't shutting off. He knew why as well, smiling up at the ceiling and running his fingers through his hair, rubbing his eyes for a moment or so.
The tap at his door stirred him, the thief blinking sleepily and only half realising that it was real and he hadn't imagined it. He half sat up, shaking his hair out of his face and frowning a little, before he smiled as he confirmed he hadn't made it up. Slipping from the bed, he shuffled to the door and unlocked it (a custom that was more habit than anything else at this point), quietly clicking it open so that it didn't make too much noise. His eyes glinted in the darkness as he saw it was Rory; he'd already realised that it was her, but there was always that niggling doubt in his mind until he could confirm it. She was there? And she had a pillow. He smiled softly. "Come on in." he nodded, stepping to the side to let her in, clicking the door shut behind him and locking it again.
"Here..." he took the pillow from her and set it up on the bed next to his own, obviously assuming that she didn't intend for either one of them to sleep on the floor. He tried to hide that he was pleased, mostly unsuccessfully, climbing back under the covers soon enough and settling back on his pillows.

Rory smiled to him as he opened the door, giving him a rather hopeful look before he stepped aside to let her in. "Thanks." She murmured, letting him take the pillow, watching him as he put it on his bed and got back in before moving to join him. It wasn't exactly the first time that they had shared a bed, was it? And, she could honestly say that she didn't care what anyone might think of her. She just...wanted to sleep with Phoenix, that was all. It was adorably innocent really. She clambered up onto the bed next to him, moving under the covers to settle on her pillow. She had forgotten that this was a single bed, and they were rather close. She found herself blushing faintly at the thought, nuzzling her face into her pillow in an attempt to hide it. It wasn't as though she minded being so close to him.
"You don't mind me sleeping over, right?" She asked, turning her head to look at him, trusting that her blush had faded enough for him to not notice it through the darkness. "I just...didn't want to sleep on my own, you know...?" She murmured, giving him an innocent and rather happy smile. The Princess was snuggled up comfortably under the blankets now, brushing her hair back behind her ear. She hid a yawn behind her hand as she finally let her eyes drift close, sighing sleepily. "Goodnight, Phoenix."

He smirked as she settled down next to him, tilting his head curiously and wondering when things had gotten so awkward between them. They had shared a bed before; they'd shared a room before, hell, he'd practically fallen asleep in her lap on that one cart ride. He laughed inwardly at the thought that this could make her blush, the thief leaning forward to slip his arms around her without so much as a second thought, closing that little gap between them. It was easier this way anyway, they weren't both perched on the very edges of the bed. He was too tired to bother letting himself get worked up. Besides which, he was Phoenix, women didn't make him all flustered. Well. Apart from Rory, on occasion. But he'd not think about that now.
"'Course I don't mind. I'm glad you did." he admitted sleepily, curling up a little and kissing her forehead, before letting his eyes close. "I'll try not to wake you if I'm up early." he murmured. He still had the occasional nightmare, and although they were nowhere near as bad as they had been, when they did show up, he was reluctant to go back so sleep. Somehow, though, he didn't think he'd be having any nightmares tonight. "G'night, Rory." he mumbled, and soon enough he had drifted off to sleep.
Contrary to what he thought would happen, the thief was still fast asleep when morning came, ignorant of the cold outside and the still falling snow, although at least the blizzard seemed to have calmed down a little bit. That was a huge plus, in his eyes. He started to stir around mid-morning, opening his eyes dazedly and not seeming to realise, at first, what was happening. Then he remembered that Rory was in his arms, and he suddenly became very determined to go right back to sleep. To hell with getting up. To hell with getting up for the rest of his life.

Rory's cheeks turned a deeper shade of red as Phoenix tugged her into his arms, but she didn't resist him. Why would she resist? However immoral, she was content to just lay there snuggled up to him. The bed wasn't really big enough for them not to be close anyway, at least they were both comfortable now. Her thoughts didn't linger on the indecency of the situation for very long. For once, she could truthfully say that she didn't care what anyone else thought of her, that and it was far too easy to slip off to sleep with his arms around her. She was comfortable and happy. With Phoenix there, she had nothing to worry about, nothing to keep her up while she tried to sleep.
Over the last month, Rory had got herself into the rather bad habit of going to bed early and sleeping in late, so it was no surprise to her that it was mid-morning by the time she started to stir, and she was reluctant even then. She nuzzled closer to Phoenix without being awake enough to reailise what she was doing, her head curled under his, one hand resting lightly against his chest. It was a little while before she woke up enough to realise where she was, and remember what had happened. The mere memory of the kiss brought a faint flush to her cheeks, the Princess opening her eyes for a moment to glance up at him before smiling to herself and closing her eyes again.
She didn't know if Phoenix was awake yet or not, but she didn't mind. She was content to just lay there with him for a while and do nothing. It wasn't as though she had any plans for today.

He pouted ever so slightly as he realised that she was, unfortunately, waking up. He wouldn't be able to doze for long knowing that she was awake. After a while, he opened his eyes and shifted ever so slightly to look down at her. "Mornin', Rory." he greeted, moving to brush a lock of hair out of her face and smile, before he reluctantly let her go. They had kissed, yeah, but Phoenix didn't quite know where they would go from here. He was just as lost as Rory was - a girl had never kept his attention for this amount of time, ever. He stretched and shifted to sit up, running his fingers through his hair and smiling a little, especially as his gaze turned to the window. "I think it's stopped snowing." he murmured to her, rubbing his eyes. "That's good. Blizzard should be over... hopefully it won't belong before we're able to go outside again."
He didn't mean the comment to come out as if he wanted to get outside again (he did, but not so he could get away from Rory, more because he was an outside person) but he got the feeling that, after the last month, she might take that the wrong way. He shifted to get up from the bed, moving to peer out of the curtains and look down at the snow. "When the snow melts away from the door, you wanna come look around the town with me?" he offered, glancing over his shoulder to her. It was as though they were travelling all over again, Phoenix slipping seamlessly back into the person he had been all along. He seemed just as cheerful as that first morning in Chris's house, before that misunderstanding they'd had about the kiss he'd given her.
"They've got a huge statue of an angel in one of the squares. It reminded me of the slums in Cressa." he admitted with a shrug, "An' there's a library. I haven't been in there, but you'd probably love it." he smiled to her, his eyes bright as he let the curtain fall again and moved to shuffle to the basin of water on top of a chest of drawers, the cold water helping to wake him up properly. "If it was warmer I'd go and see what was around the Grand Mountain Range, but I s'pose that can wait for a different time." he flashed her a grin.

"Good morning, Phoenix." She murmured to him, smiling softly as she moved to look up at him. She didn't particularly want to move, but they couldn't stay in bed all day, could they? She stretched out as he sat up, turning her gaze to the window as he spoke. The smallest of frowns flickered over her features as he mentioned wanting to go out, sitting up as he rose to his feet, sighing softly as she ran her fingers through her hair. There was her thinking that what she had been trying to say had sunk in, obviously not if he couldn't wait to get out of the house again. Oh, what on earth was she suppoed to do to keep his attention? She was actually starting to think that maybe she would have to resort to walking around nude or in her underwear.
These dark thoughts disappeared as he asked her if she wanted to go out exploring with him, smiling brightly as she looked up at him. Oh, so, maybe she had been a little quick to make an assumption there. He wanted her to go out exploring with him, she had been waiting for him to ask since they had arrived! "I'd love to go exploring. I've read so much about the city, it would be nice to see it for myself." She nodded enthusiastically, her mood brightening instantly now that she knew that he wasn't planning on going out and leaving her all alone again. They'd have ended up arguing again if that was what he had been planning. Well...maybe arguing wasn't such a bad thing if they all ended how yesterdays did.
She stretched out one last time before rising to her feet, making the bed (and leaving her pillow where it was) before moving towards the door. "I'm going to go get dressed. I'll come and tell you when I'm done and we can get breakfast?" She asked, pausing at the door with her hand on the handle, looking back over her shoulder at him.

"Sounds like a plan." he winked to her as she left, having washed by now. He looked a lot more awake as he moved to the door when she walked out, smiling out at her. "See you in a little while Rory." he smiled, before clicking the door shut again. It didn't take too long to get ready, Phoenix wasn't a particularly vain person. He just liked to feel human. About twenty minutes had passed and he was standing by the window sill to look out of the window and down at the streets covered with snow. He was dressed and his hair was in its trademark plait, and he was ready to go.
...Okay. Looking out of the window was pretty boring. He'd have to go and find her, he decided, checking his boots were laced (he'd fallen over his own feet after making that kind of mistake more than once before and was determined to never do it again) before he walked to the door and opened it, stepping outside. He wouldn't just walk into her room, he knew better than that, instead moving to tap at her door lightly.

Unlike Phoenix, Rory was an incredibly vain person, and she had fallen back into old habits since getting to Chris's house. She didn't have much to do, so fussing over her apperance killed a little time. After twenty minutes she had only just managed to wash and dress, wearing a rather warm, dark blue dress, her fur lined coat laid over the end of the bed. Cold wasn't something that the Princess usualy had to deal with. Yes, the palace did get chilly in the winter, but there were always fires in her rooms, and with all her furs it wasn't often that she felt the cold. She didn't even think she'd ever been really cold. It was lucky that they had bumped into Chris when they had, it was doubtful that Rory would have survived otherwise.
She looked around as Phoenix knocked on the door, smiling faintly as she guessed that it was him. "It's unlocked, you can come in." She called as she sat at her desk and picked up her hair brush. She didn't have much left to do, just brush her hair really. She would need to hurry, she didn't want to keep him waiting around for her, but she wanted to make sure that she looked alright. Ahhh, she was no good at compromise in this sort of a situation. At least she was just planning on leaving her hair down, so it wouldn't take too long.
"I've just got to brush my hair, Phoenix, and I'll be ready." She explained, glancing over her shoulder to smile to him before turning back to the mirror. Five minutes later she was done fussing over her hair, the Princess rising to her feet to turn to look at Phoenix. "All ready! Shall we go?"

He smirked a little as she told him that he could come in, the thief clicking open the door and walking inside, glancing around the room. He'd never really seen Rory's room before, if he was honest. There had only a few brief glimpses from the first days that they were in Chris's house. He hid a smile. It even smelled like the Princess, and he glanced at her and the mirror briefly before he moved to the window. You could see perfectly out at the front of the house from here, and he was tilting his head down at the snowy front doors. "Aha... someone has cleared the snow from the doors. I think we can go out today." he murmured to her with a grin, cracking his knuckles and turning to look at her, watching her brush her hair for a moment as if in a stupor before he shook himself out of it. Yes, she was gorgeous, and yes, he'd never gotten as close to someone as he had to Rory, but that didn't mean he could forget himself.
She was still the Princess, and it was unlikely that anything like yesterday would happen again. Either way, he was still overjoyed to have them be talking to each other again. It was her company that he'd missed most of all. He'd left Cressa with her, and they'd travelled together, and she was the common denominator as his world had slowly gotten chaotic around him. When she wasn't there... Phoenix didn't really know where he was. He was lingering behind her by this point, smirking over her shoulder in the mirror. "You look beautiful, Rory." he grinned dashingly, "C'mon, grab your coat, I'll grab mine and I'll show you Handel in the snow." he winked. "This is the first winter that I've ever been able to appreciate the snow. Usually it's just this cold, oppressive thing that kills and takes." he admitted, stepping back again.
"I'll be back in a second." he assured her, disappearing out of the door to return to his room, and appearing just a few moments later, shrugging into a long coat whose sleeves were too long, and therefore rolled up, Phoenix tugging up the collar to protect him from the cold. This was also the first winter that he'd gotten any real protection against the cold, he thought, but he preferred not to dwell on that for too long. Slummers were a hardy people. Phoenix himself was evidence of that. But it didn't stop him from worrying about the others. Quickly, he concentrated on other things, locating Rory once more and smiling to her, slipping his hand into hers. "Let's go!" he nodded, moving off down the corridor. "You want to grab breakfast here or shall we pick something up in the town?" he asked.

"They have? I'm glad, now we really can go out and explore." The Princess sounded excitable now that the prospect of actually being able to explore Handel seemed real. She had been dying to get out and have a look around, a real look around, since they arrived. She had only left the house a couple of times, and the majority of those times had been when she had snuck out, and she had been so scared about being caught that she didn't get very far. It would be different with Phoenix, she always felt safe with Phoenix. Plus, he knew the city, he would know where everything was, he would be able to show her everything that the city had to offer, and he would probably know what area's they should avoid.
She did, of course, blush as he told her that she looked beautiful. That would never change. She may have gone a little way to admit how she really felt about him, but that would never change how she reacted to him. He had even kissed her yesterday, you would have thought that a compliment would have a little less of an effect on her, but she still felt as flustered as ever. Poor Rory, she doubted that she would ever really know how to react to his compliments.
She rose to her feet as he went to get his coat, moving to her wardrobe to take out her fur lined coat, laying it over her arm before leaving her room, clicking the door closed behind her, waiting for Phoenix in the corridor. "We should get breakfast while we are out. I don't want to waste any time." She nodded to him enthusiastically, moving to head down the corridor to the stairs now. "I've only ever been out in the palace gardens when it snowed, and even then I wasn't allowed to stay out long. I think that they were scared that I was too delicate to deal with the cold."
