Evelyn was using her sense of smell to lead her to the Great River, not realising that Will was following her. Her nose twitched as she picked up on a new smell, something very different to the scent of water which she had been following. Smoke, blood and that something that she had never been able to place; the unmistakable scent of Vyncent. A slight bounce entered her stride as she followed this new scent, an unmistakeable and inexplicable feeling of safety washing over her at the sight of Vynce. It was stupid of her to put all her trust in a demon that had just massacred half a town in his rage, but he had saved her from the collar and fixed her after the poison, hurting himself in doing so. She knew that the demon wasn't really being noble, but it had been more than enough to gain her trust; Evelyn would follow Vyncent anywhere now if he asked her to.
She rubbed her head against the back of his legs lightly as she stalk around to sit in front of him, licking his hand as it to tell him that she was there. Yes, Vynce was privelegded enough to receive brief and irregular contact with Evvie, though if he ever tried to touch her without permission then she wouldn't hesitate to bite his finger off, the same applying to Will. Vyncent was only allowed to make contact with her under dire circumstances, which as removing her collar for example, at any other times she would be rather mad with him for daring to touch her and a good mauling would be in order.
She snapped her teeth at him as she glanced up at him, noticing that he wasn't looking too great. Oh yeah, the demon didn't like water did he? So that meant he would be moody and unsociable all the time they were on the water; and she guessed that they would be traveling on the water, why else would they be at this port. She swiftly shifted into her feline form as she pawed his boot impatiently, mewing at him in an annoyed tone to ask why they weren't doing anything. If he was planning on stealing a boat could he hurry up and do it because sitting around like this was boring.

Ugh, they really didn't take long to catch up with him, did they? This was a complete change from his earlier rather cheerful mood, the demon was trying to drag this out as long as possible before having to step onto the boat and finally accept that they would be travelling on the water. He glanced down at Evelyn as she licked his hand, pushing his hair out of his face with his other hand and smirking a little. Oh, he'd earned the honour of her touch every now and then had he? He couldn't say he wasn't pleased, but he would have probably shown more interest had it been a different situation. For now, his full concentration was on the rushing, screaming death that, to him, was the Great River. He sighed heavily at hearing Will's voice, rubbing his eyes.
"Yes, I am going to steal the boat." he muttered rather quietly, venom in his voice that was nothing to do with Will whatsoever. "And I hate boats." this was more or less a growl, the demon finally striding from the docking point and jumping gracefully onto the small boat, making it rock just a little. It was big enough for four or five people to travel on at a push, so this was more than enough for them. He could hear the faint sounds of the villagers in the distance now; they had no doubt reached the edge of Valley Town and would be on their tails in no time. From the seemingly endless folds of Vyncent's red coat came Evelyn's clothes, which he set down on a little crate on the boat before he could forget to. Right, how to work this hell-thing.
Because of the current of the Great River, they'd probably only need to really push the boat away from the docking point to get it going. He could worry about keeping it going once they were out on less restless waters, not that he would be good for much by then anyway. "All aboard, I guess." he muttered moodily, moving to the prow of the boat to glance out at the water, an unusual sense of doom coming over him. Ugh, water. He stepped away from the prow again after only a few seconds, moving this time to untangle the rope from which the boat was tied. Better to get this over with now, he already felt enclosed on this wooden nightmare, it could only get worse from here.
((Mine's short-ish too Flick, don't worry. X3 It'll be easier on the boatness.
By the way, since by my next post they'll probably be ON the river, you think I should move the RP to the Great River section of Syrunn? XD They're migrating...))

Will did his best not to laugh at Vyncent’s bad mood. He got the impression that despite his cheerful demeanour earlier, the demon wasn’t very happy with him. It wasn’t surprising – the sprites that had taken to following him around had eaten through his illusion, and it was that that had caused the villagers to attack them. But really, it wasn’t his fault. He didn’t control the sprites – not by a long shot. And in the end, was it really such a tragedy that they’d been chased out? Will didn’t like towns, and at the moment he could imagine nothing more pleasant than hopping in to the boat and falling asleep, spinning and bobbing gently on the soft, insistent tug of the Great River’s current.
So really, it was probably that that made Will so amused by Vyncent’s obvious loathing to go near the water. Will couldn’t imagine not liking water – it would be like not wanting to breathe. There was very little water near where he had grown up – the most he ever got to see was the small stream where he played with the naiads and swam with his siblings. When he had travelled further afield, and discovered lakes, and rivers, and even the sea, he had fallen instantly in love with them. The mass of soothing, calming water was beautiful, wonderful. Never repellent.
But despite his dislike of the water, Vyncent was going to steal the boat, so with a light, springy bounce, Will bounded aboard, laughing as the boat lurched under his sudden impact. It had been years since he had sailed, and he missed the sensation. It was pure brilliance to be back on the water again, and subconsciously he took a seat near the small, flimsy wooden tiller. He wouldn’t be able to steer the boat well in the current – just enough to avoid rocks and large debris.
“Onwards,” he giggled quietly. He didn’t think Vyncent or Evelyn would hear. “To adventure, and surprises, and a more exciting future!” And the rope Vyncent was fiddling with came loose and the current dragged them away with surprising swiftness.

Yes, he had earnt the honour, Vyncent should feel very proud of himself...well...maybe when he was done with being annoyed and afraid of the water. Yes, it would be a little much to ask him to be proud of himself while he was trying to contain his fear for the waters which rushed in front of them. It seemed that everyone had something that they feared, whether that was entrappment for Evelyn or water for Vyncent, everyone had a deep rooted fear that could render them helpless. They would have to work out what Will's was, the shifter always feeling more comfortable around people that she knew she could hurt. Vyncent, for example, had shown her his blood, but she had already attacked Will and seen his blood, so he would have to come up with something a little more imaginative to show Evvie one of his weakness'.
However, Evelyn seemed to be in an opposite mood to Vyncent, seeming cheerful and as hyperactive as usual as she bounded past the demon and hopped up onto the boat, luckily aiming well enough so she ended up perched on the edge of the low wall around the vessel they were borrowing, her feline balance ensuring that she didn't fall even when Will jumped in and caused the boat to rock dangerously. She padded around the edge of the boat at a slow pace, holding her muscles taught so that she didn't end up jolted down into the water as she peered over the edge. Her emerald eyes glittered as she watched the clear water rushing beneath the boat, watching the green water reeds sway, concentration in her eyes, as if she were looking for fish.
She raised her head at the sound of Will's giggle, her ear twitching as she mewed at him, telling him that he was being odd, as she jumped down onto the deck of the boat, stalking over to Vynce with her tail swinging low. She was creeping up on his feet, crouched down now, that odd look of concentration in her eyes, ears pinned back against her head as if she were trying to disappear. Yes, she was in one of those moods where she hunted Vyncent's feet, being stuck on a small boat when she had so much energy wasn't really the best of places to be. She would end up annoying Vyncent into throwing her into the water.
(Yar, you should move it in your postie Chi!)
