The forest was quiet. It was a silent grove, an epitome of peace, a glade humming with musi-- Wait, glades didn't hum...
Aja did, however. She nearly danced through the undergrowth, eventually bursting into song. It was a little country ditty, a song about loving your porridge.
"I told me mum, On the day I was born, 'Keep your toast crumb, Your dry old corn, There's only one thing for me!'"
Ajala had a soft voice normally, and her naga accent was usually hidden. Now, however, it came out in full force, lingering on the S's and other sharp constenants.
"Oh, hey did-diddle! A cat and a fiddle! Oatsss and wat-ter, A pen and a blot-ter. Write thisss down, Lessst you forget, I'm a porridge man!"
She paused, and considered. She wasn't a man, but that was the song. Hmm, maybe the person who had written it was a man, and so he had assumed everyone who was going to sing it was a man. Oh, well, it really didn't matter.
Still humming - and singing every other line - She picked her was through the forest, stopping every now and then to pick a plant up, and put it into the small brown bad she had thrown over one shoulder. She wasn't really looking for any herbs, but if she saw one, she'd pick it up, sniff at it, and put it into her bag. Really, Aja was looking for a mushroom, and a very special one at that. Not only did it have legendary healing powers, it was said to induce some very interesting visions. And, you know, Aja had always wanted to have a vision. 'Always' meaning since that old, funny-smelling dwarf had told her about visions and this particular mushroom.
She just hoped she found it before someone else. (She would share, of course, if they wanted some, though!)

"Hmm." A seemingly young man stood examining a particularly tall tree, his monkey-like tail slowly swinging to and fro. In his right hand he held a cord attached to a ratty looking brown rutsack that was slung over his shoulder. Slung across his back was a large scythe shaped object bound in tattered black cloth and a black chain. His left hand was in his pant's pocket. Sitting next to him was a regal looking wolfdog with a cool air about her. Her soft coat was as white as freshly fallen snow. A little ways off from the pair a small piglet was nosing through the underbrush with his snout. "Yep," The man said aloud, nodding his head, "This is definitely the same tree was passed yesterday. Man, this forest is big. We got lost the last time we were here, too." Indeed, the Aorin forest stretched for several dozen miles in every direction. The forest encompassed a large part of Avalas' northernmost region. "Ah, well." He shrugged and adjusted his rutsack before turning and starting to walk. The wolfdog and piglet followed him of their own accord. The group moved at a leisurely pace and with seemingly no fixed direction. For Kamui was a wanderer by nature and thus currently had no real destination in mind. He was content to enjoy the forest's scenery as the trio meandered along. They soon stopped at a cluster of shrubs bearing pale greenish berries. "Aww..." Kamui stared longingly at the unripe blueberries. It was only the beginning of spring, to early for the berries to be ripe. Then Sakurako's, the wolfdog, ears perked up. She looked up at Kamui with clear intelligence in her eyes. "Yeah, I hear the singin' too, Sak." Kamui's nose twitched. "Hm. Reptilian."

((I hope you don't mind that I joined too, Kamui, I did tell Reach I was planning to once Lulu was finished. =D))
Lulu wasn't exactly sure when she'd gotten into the Aorin Forest, let alone when she'd managed to get herself completely and utterly lost. That didn't stop her though, the minstrel picking her way along the trail she'd found with a faint, happy smile. The trail had originally been a path towards the next rural town where she could pick up supplies, write a song or two, and continue her journey but it had long since turned into the only thing with any direction in this place... not that she minded, of course. She was humming a jovial little tune under her breath as she walked, the bells attached to her sash and boots jingling merrily whenever she hopped over a stone or avoided a vine.
She paused, however when a distant song interrupted her own, and she stopped on the dirt pathway. The song was vaguely familiar to her, but was the accent in which it was sung was not. The singer seemed pleasant enough, though, especially considering the subject of the song, and Lulu pressed on forwards until she spotted the source of the noise. She smiled brightly at the sight of Aja, tilting her head. She was always happy to meet someone new, and let's face it, when you were stranded and lost in a new place it was nice to see anyone.
"Hello there!" she called out brightly to Aja as she hopped through the undergrowth, "I never expected to find anyone here, it feels like I've been walking for days!" she smiled; Lulu may be many things, but subtle or indeed the slightest bit cautious wasn't one of them. "Are you lost too?"

(( Quite so. ^^))
Aja giggled, and examined the other woman. "I didn't expect to find anyone else, either, but things - and people, too, I guess - have a tendency to pop up when you least expect it, right?" The woman's question brought forth another giggle from the naga. "Of course I'm not lost, silly! I live in this forest; how could I be lost?" It was said in all seriousness, and Aja really did mean it. "No, I'm looking for the..." She glanced around in a 'sneaky' manner (also known as not sneaky at all) and then whispered: "I'm looking for the amazing Purple Pink Polka-Dot Mushroom of All Things Mushroom-y!"
Just saying the name gave her shivers. If that old dwarf was right - and she believed that he was correct - then it could be a very valuable asset. Ajala giggled again, swaying to the music only she heard.

"I was born in Cressa, but that doesn't stop me from gettin' lost there." Kamui said, emerging from a tangle of underbrush and flicking some leaves off his shoulder. "Granted, I have a poor sense of directions an' streets tend ta' change over the years." Sakurako and Yibbles appeared beind him. "But it seems my luck is good today," He said looking at Aja and Lulu, "For me ta' come across two lovely ladies in this wide forest."
(Mushrooms...)

"You live here? Oh... well I guess that makes a lot more sense." Lulu grinned and nodded at the naga, tilting her head at the mentioning of the aforementioned mushroom. "As if the name didn't already foretell of its awesomeness, it's an amazing Purple Pink Polka-Dot Mushroom of All Things Mushroom-y!" she agreed, lowering her voice in a similarly 'sneaky' way to match Aja's.
She had originally planned to ask Aja if she'd be kind enough to lead her out of the forest considering that she lived there and would know it considerably better than someone completely and utterly lost, but could she really pass up the opportunity to join in on something so adventurous? She flashed her a bright smile. "Would you mind if I joined you on your quest of quests?" she asked.
And it seemed the day was just going to get even more surprising. Lulu gave a squeak of surprise at the sound of Kamui's voice, not having expected to run into yet another person. What a crazy random happenstance!
"This must be a lucky day for all of us." she recovered, smiling and turning slightly so she could see them both. But then her eyes fell on Yibbles. "Ohhh, wow!" she squeaked, "Cuuute!"
((Are magic!! :3 And yes, for those who know of it I did throw in a Dr. Horrible reference to that post. I am so cool. XDDDD))

"Of course! Every adventurer needs a friend or two on their quest!" Aja giggle again. This was going to be even more fun than she imagined.
She nearly shot out of her skin, though, when the man spoke. She laughed, enjoying her own reaction. "It's easy to stay found here. The trees are very helpful when it comes to finding your way." She nodded, agreeing with herself. She also agreed with Lulu's statement. Lucky, indeed, especially if they found the Mushroom of All Things Mushroom-y. "Do you want to join our quest, sir? We're finding the amazing Purple Pink Polka-Dot Mushroom of All Things Mushroom-y! It is said to have legendary healing powers, and induce visions!" She put an almost sacred tone on the last word, her eyes wide with excitement.
((I'm not cool enough to pick up the Dr. Horrible reference... ;-; ))

"Oh." He said, chuckling slightly, noting Lulu and Aja's initial reactions. "My apologies for startlin' ya'." Yibbles, never one to pass up attention and attracted by her colorful attire, trotted right up to Lulu and began to sniff at her boots. Sakurako hung back at Kamui's side, looking over the two strangers with icy pale blue eyes that bore a cool intelligence. The wolfdog made no attempts to hide her disdain for strangers. "The purplepinkpolkadotmushroomofallthingsmushroom-y-whatzit?" Kamui crossed his arms and tipped his head quizzically, his tail scratching the top of his head.. "Bein' a wanderer an' havin' had ta' treat myself from time ta' time, I know a bit about herbology, but I've never heard of that particular mushroom before. You've intrigued me, dear naga, so now I don't have much choice about comin' along."
(I've only watched the first act of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog (which was hilarious), so I don't think I caught your reference, Chi... I guess you're just too cool for us...)

Lulu was already distracted by Yibbles, leaning down to give the adorable piglet her full attention as he snuffled around her boots; she was typically attracted to anything cute as it was, as if she wasn't going to melt at the sight of such a creature.
Although Kamui's words weren't lost on her, and she eventually straightened up again to flash both of her new companions an excitable smile. "This appears to be becoming a full-blown adventure!" she giggled, lifting a brow at the news that this remarkable mushroom induced visions of all things! "A silly question, but what does said mushroom look like? I assume it would be purple, pink and polkadotty, but just in case this is one of those ironies of naming things, it's not yellow is it? 'Cause I saw a million yellow mushrooms back that way." she giggled, pointing over her shoulder.
"Oh! My name is Lulu, by the way." she gave a slight bow; a curtsey may have been more appropriate considering her gender, but Lulu was a performer if nothing else. Bowing felt better to her.

Giggling, Aja managed to reply. "We'd be glad to have you, Mr. ..." She paused, not sure what to call the man. "We'd be glad to have you, sir." There, that was fine. "I 'm not sure exactly what this mushroom would look like. A wise old, (and rather stinky, if I do say so myself) dwarf told me about it. So, yes, I assume it's purple, pink, and polkadotty." She smiled, and attempted her own little bow. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lulu. My name is Ajala, but you can call me Aja.
She let out a sudden squeal, and moved behind Lulu. There, hidden somewhat in the grass was... A leaf, much like any other. "Whee, I'm glad I found this. This isn't The Mushroom, but it's nearly as good: the healing herb Catch-All." It wasn't the proper name, but Aja usually named things in her own way, even if she did know the 'proper' name.

Sakurako watched Lulu with a wary eye as the women leaned down to Yibbles. The piglet, on the other had, seemed to be basking in the attention. Kamui gave a smile and mimicked Lulu's bow, with his tail swishing back and forth. "No need for 'mister' or 'sir', just call me Sy." He turned his head and followed Aja's movement and looked at the leaf she had found. "Aye, that is a handy herb. I've made poultices from it before."

"Sy." Lulu tested the name on her tongue; it seemed good enough. Yes, it would do perfectly. "Sy and Aja." she nodded to each of them as if to confirm their identities and straightened up from Yibbles... though this was only because Aja seemed to have found something even more interesting than an adorable piglet.
"Healing herb Catch-All?" she cocked her head at the thing on the ground. Herbs weren't Lulu's specialty, to her it really did just look like... well... a leaf. With her knowledge on herbs she'd just as much identify this herb with a patch of poison ivy. "What does it do? And what direction do you think this purple, pink and polkadotty mushroom may be?" she moved to observe the... leaf, more closely.

((Umm... I guess we could wait a couple more weeks until exam season is officially over, because that might be the reason for her absence...
If nothing, we could either continue it working around the fact that Aja isn't there, or start again?))
