Apparently they weren’t good prey, or they didn’t taste so good, because somewhere in the jumbled mess that happened next they didn’t get eaten. Maybe the creature just didn’t like prone prey? The blow to the head must have been harder than she had first thought. Stars danced in front of her eyes and her paws twitched as she attempted to get up, but the rest of her limbs weren’t listening to her. She wasn’t sure how long she was out of it, but when things started to come together and make sense everything was quiet. There was no monster stood breathing over her, and she was pretty sure that she wasn’t already in its belly (though it was difficult to tell with Vyncent’s werelight out; she imagined a stomach would be more gurgly and wet).
Following that line of thought, where was Vyncent? Her emerald gaze snapped around at the sound of his voice, paws silent on the stone floor as she dragged herself up and padded across to him. She sniffed as she went, following the trail of his scent right up to him. She even spent a minute sniffing him, just to make sure that he wasn’t hurt too badly, before she licked his cheek and made a weird noise that was somewhere between a growl and a purr; obviously she was happy to find him alive.
There was a shift in the air next to him, the tigress now replaced by a ruffled looking Evelyn knelt next to him. God knew where her clothes were, but that didn’t seem to bother her just yet. “My head hurts.” She whispered to the high demon, reaching out to put a hand on his shoulder, just so that she knew where he was. “What happened? We scared it off?”
