"Good point. Are we seeing how many sins we can fit into one day?" She smriked to him, counting off the sins that they had already comitted on her fingers. "We already have wrath, pride and are about to tick greed off the list, that just leaves envy, sloth, gluttony and lust." She nodded, seeming amused by the idea of trying to get through all of the seven deadly sins in one day. She tilted her head to the side as he asked what had happened, shrugging and running her fingers through her hair. "The new Mother Superior had come to vist, apparently she had some sort of divination powers. She accused me of being a devil, and they were going to cleanse me." She explained to him, wrinkling her nose up and shaking her head. "I have no idea how being stoned to death is cleansing, but that is nuns for you. They have a warped sense of justice." She shrugged to him. Etoile had experienced the nun's idea of justice first hand, and it hadn't made her repent for her sins, so really they should rethink the whole system.
She should have guessed that Vyncent wouldn't be in any sort of rush, he didn't seem to be the type of person that would let anything rush him. "Sounds like a good plan to me." She smiile and nodded to him, brushing her hair back from her face as she strolled along side him. Vyncent didn't need to point out the gambling parlour, as soon as it came into sight she knew where they were going. If the guilding on the building wasn't enough, then there was also swarm of nobles gathered outside to give the game away. What else should she have imagined? Nobles were the only ones who had more money than sense and could afford to gamble away their gold and still feed their families.
Etoile recieved quiet a few looks as she stepped into the noisy room, eyes trailing after her and Vyncent as they moved to the spare table. There weren't many women in the room, and certainly none as young as Etoile was. Who would let their young, impressionable daughter to be brought to a place like this? It wasn't proper for a lady to gamble. Luckily, Etoile was rather good at ignoring stares, sitting across from Vyncent as he chose a table, watching closely as he shuffled the cards. "What are we going to play?" She asked him. She knew the names of a couple of games, but she wouldn't be able to tell you how to play any of them. "Something easy to start off with? Or are you throwing me in at the deep end?"

He looked amused at the idea of ticking off all seven of the deadly sins in just twenty four hours, actually seeming to be giving it some consideration. "Well lust and envy are pretty easy... it's just sloth and gluttony that will take a little work. Suppose I get drunk and lie across the bar all night? Would that be counted as sloth and gluttony?" he asked, pondering to himself and shrugging as she sat down opposite him. "Hey, stoning might be very cleansing for all we know. I know that if you're the one doing the stoning it can be a rather therapeutic experience." he nodded to her wisely, brushing a lock of silvery hair out of his face before resuming his shuffling of the cards. It all seemed very classy when he did it, none of the drunken shuffling where the cards went everywhere as you saw in most taverns. You could see that Vyncent had done it a million times before.
"Throwing you in the deep end would be pretty fun for me, if I weren't the one having to teach you. So, considering that it's me that will have to listen to your questions, we'll start off with an easy game." he nodded to her, "Blackjack first, and then I'll move on to simple Poker. And we'll see how you do from there. I'd offer to bet as we go, but I just paid for all of your clothes so I know you don't have any money." he smirked to her, seeming in a rather playful mood actually, to say that he had obliterated a convent only a few hours before. What could he say? Destruction put him in a good mood. And nothing had come along to set off that razor sharp temper of his as of yet, so he would continue to be in a good mood. "Bear in mind that I have to teach you how to play, before I teach you how to cheat." he chuckled.
The first ten minutes of play consisted of Vyncent explaining the rules of not only Blackjack, but also of betting to her, even down to the subtle details of how to convey what you meant at the card table; knocking twice on the table to say that you weren't going to bet anything and such like that. After that and making sure she understood (Vyncent didn't repeat himself, and anything she hadn't picked up on right away could be learned as she went along, as far as he was concerned) he dealt them both the cards, picking them up and laying one face up, as the dealer usually did. He actually found the looks they were getting to be quite entertaining; not only had he brought a woman in here, but she was learning to play cards also? What kind of a hussy was she? The shame!

Etoile smirked as she listened to Vyncent, nodding just a little. "Yes, I think that laying across a bar and getting drunk will tick off sloth and gluttony." She agreed with him, seeming amused by this. She could just imagine it really, and she had no doubts that Vyncent would actually do this just to prove that he could. "I think you should do it. In fact, I dare you." She smirked and nodded, a playful glimmer in her eyes. Vyncent and Etoile were going to end up getting themselves into some strange situations, Etoile was impressionable and Vyncent was...well...Vyncent seemed to act upon a whim. Her time with Vyncent was going to be eye opening, wasn't it? By the time he had done teaching her she expected that she would see the world in a totaly different light. "Starting off easy sounds good to me." She confirmed, looking slightly worried as he suggested betting, as though for a moment she suspected that he was going to tell her to bet her clothes. As confident as Etoile was, she was not sitting naked in a room full of men. "No, unfortunatly I don't have anything to bet. You could give me money, and I could bet with that, but there wouldn't be much of a point because you would be winning your own money back..." She murmured as she watched him shuffling the cards, seeming amazed by how quickly and gracefully he did it. A quick glance around the room told that not many people shuffled with the same kind of flourish as Vyncent did, then again, Vyncent had probably been around longer than any of these people, even the ancient and grey ones who were sat in the corner. Etoile listened carefully as he explained the rules of both the game and of betting to her, not mentioning how silly some of the rules sounded. Why could you not just say that you weren't betting instead of knocking on the table? It all seemed to remember. She picked her cards up once he had dealt them to her, studying them carefully before rearranging them like Vynce had told her, looking out for patterns in the cards that she had. By this point she had forgotten all about the looks she was receiving, which was a rather a good thing really because if she had been paying attention she would have been tempted to look one of them straight in the eye and ask them what their problem was.

"You dare me?" he smirked to her, that glitter in his eyes that said he would happily take up any dare she gave him. "...Alright. I'll do it." he nodded lightly, "After I teach you to cheat." he nodded to her. She won the first hand, much to his amazement; the kid knew what she was doing and she was a quick listener and learner, but Vyncent still put it down to beginners' luck. Everyone started off doing very well, but it took luck and skill (and the occasional cheating) to stay good at the game. Once they had played a few more hands he taught her the art of slipping an ace into her hand every now and then in order to give herself the immediate advantage, showing her the ace up his sleeve and how, with a flick of his wrist it was suddenly in his hand, unseen unless you were looking incredibly carefully.
"Getting it into your hand isn't the difficult part, it's taking it out again without people noticing that requires the real skill." he smirked to her, offering her the ace to let her try a few times while he shuffled the rest of the cards. "If I still notice you putting the ace into your hand after a day or so, it's obvious that you're not good at cheating and we'll just stick to the ordinary cards." he grinned to her, about to deal the cards again when a sudden predatory look came into his eyes and he was staring somewhere beyond her. The reason for his distraction was revealed when a well dressed beauty of a woman sauntered past, with dark hair and sultry eyes, the way Vyncent's nose twitched as she brushed past them making it clear that she was wearing expensive perfume. He had glanced over his shoulder with that same look in his eyes as she disappeared into the crowd of nobles, a cat-like smirk on his face.
"You stay here..." he murmured as he rose to his feet with a flourish, "Practise what I taught you, even join a game if you're feeling daring." he offered her a brief smile then. "I'll not be very long. Just going to tick lust off the list." he nodded to her, turning then without even a second glance to meander off into the gambling parlour, spotting the dazzling woman a few feet away; as though you could miss her! She was one of the only women there apart from Etoile. And she was about to fall prey to a High Demon, she just didn't know it yet.

Etoile grinned and nodded as he accepted her dare, not that she ever expected that he wouldn't. At least today promised to be far from boring, even if she did have to learn things. The half demon actually seemed rather pleased with herself as she won the first game, neatly stacking her cards up when they were done and passing them over to Vyncent. Her eyes were sharp as she watched him slip the ace from up his sleeve and work it into his hand, pouting a little as she looked down at her arms. "I need to put my coat on them?" She asked him, shuffling to shrug her coat back on so that she had long sleeves with which to cheat. He made it look terribly easy, Etoile doubted that she would be able to do it so secretivly.
She reached over and took the ace as he handed it to her, taking back the hand of cards that she had previously passed him so that she could practice. She got the hang of slipping the ace from up her sleeve rather quickly, able to carefully slid the extra card into her hand without much bother. She was a little more obvious than Vyncent, but it would be difficult to spot what she was doing unless you had her under careful observation. She dropped the card as she spotted the look on Vyncent's face, her concentration broken as she looked around for the source of such a look. It was a woman, of course it was a woman, Etoile arching an eyebrow at her before looking back to Vyncent and shaking her head.
"You do know that you'll probably catch someting nasty from her?" She smirked to Vyncent, picking up her cards again as she watched him stand up. "Tsk, men. Have fun Vyncent." She waved to him briefly befoer turning to look around the room. She was daring, she wanted to find a game to join, but she didn't want to play with anyone too old, anyone too old would have had too much time to practice. Her gaze came to linger on a table of young nobles, most of whom had looked away rather quickly as they noticed that she was looking at them. Perfect, and she could hope that they would be too distracted to notice that she was cheating, and maybe she could even talk one of them into giving her a few coins to bet with.
Etoile gathered the pack of cars up and slipped them into her coat pocket, moving over to the group of young nobles which she had spotted, smiling to them brightly. "Mind if I join you?" She asked, taking a seat that one of them motioned to, tactfully ignoring the stares. "So, what are we playing?"

"Yes. Fun." Vyncent's words were barely audible as he swept away from her, a cat-like smile on his face as he slipped into the crowd of nobles and disappeared. High Demons. What could you do?
The group of nobles still seemed to be in shock, only gaping at her for a few moments before the one who had motioned for her to take a seat finally found his voice again. Well, it wasn't everyday that you found a woman in a gambling parlour who wasn't there on the arm of one of the richest nobles in town, without a clue what she was doing in the place. Having a lady in the parlour, particularly one that could actually play cards, was something of an anomoly to say the least. She had been getting odd looks even before she offered to play the game with them, but it seemed that she knew exactly what she wanted. And without her 'bodyguard' around (Vyncent could be nothing else, of course) this must mean that she meant business. Well, they'd see if she was a bimbo or not soon enough.
"Blackjack." the young noble told her softly; he was barely into his twenties, with dark hair and a fairly handsome face, although by his clothes and attitude alone you could see that any woman would want to be with him for what was in his money pouch opposed to his reflection. They took her sitting down as an invitation that she wanted to play, no matter what the game was, and in seconds he had dealt the cards out; he might not have had very much practise with the game, but in order to be there in the first place his father must have been pretty well off, so he probably knew what he was doing. The other men instantly picked their cards up to survey the damage, a few folding straight away and shoving their cards into the middle of the table while the rest moved to bet.
"Here you are, beautiful." the young man next to her smirked and pushed a small pile of coins towards her. Nobles could be so crude sometimes, that was obvious just by the way the majority of them were looking at her now. Well, she was there alone currently, that could only mean that she was after one thing, right? The noble who'd spoken to her however didn't seem as fixated as his friends, and the look he gave her was only brief and fleeting before his gaze danced off into the crowd, as if he was looking for Vyncent. Whether out of fear that her bodyguard would come back and discipline them or because he didn't like the idea of her sitting there alone was unknown.

Etoile, a lady? Well, she supposed that being called a lady was nicer than some of the things that they could have called her. In fact, they were technically right; her family were nobles, which would make her a lady. That thought made her smirk to herself faintly, though she quickly hid her amusement and let her gaze flicker between the faces of the men at the table. They were all young, which worked to her advantage, as did the fact that they all seemed distracted by her. Oh, she liked being out of Le Couvert, it was much more fun in the real world. This morning she would have never imaged that she would end up sat in a gambling parlour, or that her presence could cause so much of a stir without her even misbehaving. "Merci." She murmured as one of them pushed the small pile of gold in front of her, giving him a soft smile before nodding as she was told what game they were playing. It was a good job that it was blackjack seeing as she didn't know any other games. She wouldn't have done very well trying to play a game when she had no idea what the rules were. It seemed that she was lucky, she had everything that she needed to play. She knew the rules (ish), she had money to bet with, and she even had cards, she was good at this game, wasn't she? Etoile looked vaguly confused as she picked up her cards and studied them. Well, they all seemed to expect that she was just some clueless girl who had just happened to wander into a gambling parlour and wanted to try her luck at playing cards, so she might as well play along with what they were expecting. She took a moment to carefully sort her cards before placing her bet, not seeming to notice that the whole room was watching her right now. However, after a few hands of cards it became clear that Etoile knew what she was doing, well, either that or she was just incredibly lucky. Her pile of gold her grown considerably since she had first got it, though with this hand she was sure that she wasn't going to do too well. Hmm, it seemed that it was time for a little cheating. She pretended to be shuffling her cards around as she slipped the ace from up her sleeve, confident that most people would be too distracted to notice what she had just done.

It was true that the entire gambling parlour seemed to be watching her expectantly; the only verifiable ‘ladies’ who came into the parlour apart from the air-heads which hung on the arms of the men were nothing other than harlots, so it didn’t bode well at first that she knew how to gamble, or that the table she was sat at was full of young men. The shame! The next thing they knew she’d be charging them a price per hour! But, judging by the quality of her clothes and her obvious skill with the cards, perhaps they had been wrong. This certainly was turning out to be an interesting day.
However, not everyone there was watching out of sheer curiosity at what a woman could bring to a gambling table, and an aging man had appeared to stand behind the chair of the noble who had dealt the cards, frowning down at her pile of gold and scrutinising the cards with unhidden fascination. None of the other nobles seemed to even notice his presence among them, making this clear that he was the father of one of them, to say the very least. He was dressed smartly as all nobles were, though there was a gleam of intelligence and cunning in his eyes which said he was one of the players that Etoile would definitely have preferred not to go up against. His experience was obvious, and the way his eyes flashed when she ‘shuffled her cards’ couldn’t bode well at all.
A light smirk crossed his face. Nobody had noticed, by the look of it. Apart from him.
“Stop the game.” he commanded over the hum of voices (the majority of people had lost interest in her after the first few games, and so what was happening now didn’t attract very much attention. The group of young nobles, however, would probably be very interested in what he had to say). “She’s cheating.” he told them softly, obviously, as if they were blinded by stupidity not to have noticed it themselves. The young man who’d spoken to her was scowling now too, his eyes instantly moving to her cards and then to the deck.
“Cheating…?” he enquired, glancing over his shoulder at the man who was, obviously, his relative. “How do you know?”
“How do you think I know?” the older noble snapped, reaching over to take his son’s cards. “You have the ace of spades in your hand. And what’s in the girl’s hand, do you think?” he asked, tilting his head at Etoile with a knowing smirk, before his eyes flitted to her cards. “I’m betting it isn’t the hand she was originally dealt, to say the least.” he murmured as someone moved to take her cards, flinging them onto the table.
Anger was beginning to become obvious on the young nobles’ faces. They knew they shouldn’t have trusted a woman; especially one who actually seemed to know what she was doing. It was ridiculous, that she had almost gotten away with it!

Etoile hadn't been paying any attention to the man that had come to hover around them until he demanded that they stopped their game, an annoyed look flickering over her features. Could he not see that she was busy winning the game? When he accused her of cheating, however, she hid her annoyance behind an innocent, if not slightly offended look, tilting her head to the side as she looked up at him. Stupid old man, no-one would have noticed her little slight of hand if he hadn't been there. Oh well, it seemed that this game just kept getting more and more interesting, didn't it? Etoile just had a knack for getting herself into trouble, it was just a shame that she wasn't so good at getting herself out of trouble.
"I'm sorry, Monsieur, but what are you accusing me of?" She questioned, sounding offended that he would even imply such a thing. "I am sure that half of the room was just sat watching me, yet you are the only one to accuse me of such an underhand thing. I find it rather odd that you would notice such a thing when your son is losing." She arched an eyebrow at him, almost as though in challenge. If there was one thing about Etoile it was that she would never back down. He was accusing her of cheating, but he had no proof. "I still have the hand that I was dealt. Maybe it is your son that has attempted to cheat?" She suggested calmly, glad that the card that she had used matched the deck that they were using perfectly.
She was sat with her hands folded in her lap, still looking every bit the innocent party. She would have to make an excuse to leave soon, she couldn't imagine this situation ending well. Oh dear, where was Vyncent when she needed him? She doubted anyone would dare to accuse her of something like this if he were here. "Well, I am afraid to say that this game has just lost it's amusement. I would prefer not to play with people who would accuse me of something like this." She shook her head, sighing lightly as she rose to her feet, not even attempting to take her winnings with her. Money meant little to Etoile, and she would probably just aggrivate the situation if she tried to take it, and she would look even more the innocent party if she left the money behind. "Au reviour, I hope that you are a little kinder to the next person who joins your group."

“I assure you, Mademoiselle, that if my son had attempted to cheat he would be in more trouble than you are right now. You don’t even know who you’re talking to, do you?” the old man sneered down at her, his son actually looking rather awkward while some of the older (and slightly more perverse looking) gamblers were smiling unpleasantly. “Besides which, you are a woman, and a gambling one at that. Are you saying that we should put some kind of trust in you, give you some special treatment?” he laughed, “I hate to break it to you, but that is quite the opposite of what we are going to do.” he shook his head while the nobles around them seemed to be getting progressively angry, two of them moving either side of her as if to say that she wasn’t going anywhere, while one of the younger nobles had gotten to his feet, smiling darkly as he stood just inches away from her.
“If, truly, Mademoiselle, you haven’t cheated,” he grinned, “You won’t mind at all if we… check? You’d best not be hiding the cards up your sleeve, or in… other places.” he challenged, the others at the table they were sat at beginning to smirk to each other, a dark chuckle drifting amongst them. Without warning the young man in front of her had grabbed one of her wrists and tugged her frighteningly close to him, the noble sneering, cat-like down at her, and by the way the people around them either watched, fascinated, or merely carried on with their business, it didn’t look as though they were going to move to stop him at all. Ah, the high life. Perhaps it wasn’t as clean and sparkly as everyone thought.
Things were just starting to spiral out of control (there was a great deal of shouting and cat calls from a few of the older nobles and the ones at the table were arguing amongst themselves) when everything suddenly fell unnervingly, strangely silent in the gambling parlour. The older man who had called her out was looking particularly lost for words, although that could have something to do with the loping figure standing just inches behind Etoile. Without so much as a greeting, Vyncent rested his pale hands gently on her shoulders, making it obvious that if they had anything to say to her, they most definitely had something to say to him. A light frown was on his face, crimson eyes searching the parlour for anyone who considered themselves to be a threat to him.
“Do we have a problem, gentlemen?” he asked in a soft, yet eerily threatening voice. Vyncent didn’t look happy. He looked rather ruffled, actually, as though the ruckus had dragged him away from something incredibly important; his shirt was half buttoned and messily done, and his coat seemed to have been rather hastily put on. He was going to kill these nobles, he decided. Then he was going to get something to drink. Something strong.

"Know who you are?" She sounded highly amused at that comment, smirking faintly as she rolled her eyes. "Monsieur, I think that it is you who had no idea who they are dealing with." From past experience Etoile had learnt that her father's name raised a few eyebrows and sent whispers around the room. It seemed that, though he had only been in the noble circles for a few years, the whole of Ecritetre knew of his reputation, much to Etoile's delight. She felt almost famous already! Soon enough the whole of Ecritetre would know to fear her name too, she would see to that. "Oh really, and just what do you plan on doing to me?" She questioned lightly, not even the slightest hint of fear in her voice. Bah, these stuck up nobles weren't going to get the best of her.
"Check...?" She repeated after him slowly, frowning faintly. She didn't like where this was going. "If your dare touch me I swear that I will break your arms and legs, rip out your entrails and use them as ribbons for interpretive dancing." Though her words were harsh she was smiling to the young noble rather innocently as she spoke, though there was a dark glitter in her eyes that told that she wasn't bluffing.
This man must be stupid, that was what Etoile decided as he grabbed her, clenching her fists as she stumbled forward. That was it. She was done playing around. Her fists clenched, the girl hardly thinking about what she was doing; she just wanted to wipe that fucking smirk off his face. In an instant her free hand had flown up to smash square into his nose, at the same time as she brought her knee up between his legs. She would show him, fucking perverted bastard. She hooked her foot around the back of his ankle, tugging her wrist free before pulling his foot out from under him to send him crashing back to the floor.
It was a good job that Vyncent turned up when he did, because it was only his hands on her shoulders that stopped her from kicking the man now that he was down on the floor, her eyes narrowed as she straightened out her coat and smoothed down her dress. The anger still burnt in her eyes though, and if looks could kill then the noble who had accused her of cheating would have dropped dead right then and there as she looked at him. "For some reason these gentlemen seem to think that I have cheated, though why I would cheat when I wasn't even playing with my own money is beyond me." Her voice held a sharp edge to it now, rage bubbling just under the surface. She would show those nobles just what kind of a woman she was.

If anything could have enraged the nobles more it was the sheer beating that one of their upstanding young men had taken at the hands of this frail, pathetic WOMAN of all things, and in any other circumstance it was very likely that a riot would have broken out by now. Indeed, some of the younger nobles looked pretty closed to upturning the tables and dragging Etoile out into the square to make an example of her, while the wretch on the floor could do nothing more than whimper at his busted nose. Of course, whatever murderous thoughts were going through their heads, they’d not touch the little bitch now, not with her bodyguard having appeared so suddenly out of what could very well be nothingness. They would have to watch the both of them, they were both trouble.
Even more entertaining than their hesitation (to Vyncent, anyway) was the way that some of them stared. Okay, perhaps he had been a little rash in taking the illusion down from around himself when he asked just what they were planning on doing with his little card-playing, nose-breaking ballerina, but it certainly did have the effect he wanted it to have. And they said being a wanted criminal was something bad. Hah! His hands remained on her shoulders, however, even as he straightened up, as if to make sure she didn’t go clawing any eyes out or breaking any ribs while he was there. Although Vyncent had to admit that he was very impressed with how this thing had developed, he certainly didn’t want to have to leave this town any time soon. Not fleeing from torches and angry civilians anyway. At least his mood seemed to have improved, and although he still looked much less eloquent than usual, having been dragged from God knows where back here, watching Etoile beat the daylights into a noble had sweetened it somewhat.
“Cheating? Ma chéri, why on earth would they accuse you of such things?” the demon’s voice was definitely playful now, a complete contrast to her angry tones, but that might be because in all honesty Vyncent couldn’t care less what had gone on before. And in his eyes, neither should she. They were so far above these people on the social ladder that they didn’t even need to get angry over the little things, not when they could quite easily demolish the entire gambling parlour and the insects inside it without breaking a sweat. These people were beneath them. Although the people in here didn’t seem to have any intention of letting them leave without some kind of difficulty.
“Perhaps we should leave them to their little games.” he suggested quietly, practically whispering in her ear now, though he was smirking at the group of angry nobles. “I’d suggest we play a little game of our own first, before we leave, but… well, they just aren’t worth it.”

Make an example of her? Etoile wouldn't have liked that, not one bit. She would have been so angry that her flames would have probably appeared, and them she really would have been able to show these pomous nobles just who they had crossed. However, it seemed that she would just have to be happy with the little beating that she had given the noble. She had broken his nose, she had felt the bones break, and that made her rather happy, knowing that he would always have a little bump on his nose to remind him of her. She would even go as far to say that none of the people in the gambling parlour would forget about them any time soon.
"Je ne sais pas." She shrugged to him, telling him that she honestly didn't know. "I have no idea, probably because they didn't like losing to a woman." She huffed, folding her arms over her chest, the look in her eyes just daring one of the nobles to step forward and say something, she just wanted an excuse to hit another of them. She did seem to be starting to calm down though now, her posture more relaxed, a little of the fire in her eyes having died out. Vyncent was there, she knew that if any of these low lives even tried to say anything he would probably just rip their tongues out before they could utter a syllable. One day she would be as scary as Vycent was, she was determined that she would be, but for now she would have to settle for being protected by the fear that he caused.
"A little game? I am afraid to say that I am bored with these people now." She told him, glancing up to look up at the high demon. "And, for some reason, I get the distinct impression that we aren't welcome here." She murmured with a slight smirk, obviously recovering now from her little flare of temper. "These creatures aren't worth out company anyway, leave them to shuffle their cards and play their own silly little games." The hybrid was more than ready to leave now, the gambling parlous having lost it's sparkle. She wanted to go somewhere else now, somewhere she was less likely to be lynched.

“Probably. You know how these… people can be.” he smirked, straightening up to look over all the people and let them cringe under his stare, before he let one arm rest around Etoile’s shoulders and turned away from them, rather confident that they weren’t going to go and throw any more punches any time soon. It was Etoile deciding to decapitate someone that he was more worried about right now. “You should be bored of them. Nothing but animals in comparison to me and you, love.” he assured her, shrugging nonchalantly as he began to walk them lazily towards the entrance. Unsurprisingly, people were moving out of their way as they left, even if just a few moments before they had looked close to breaking out into a fight with them. Strange, what a little fear could do. Vyncent didn’t care what people said. Fear was a lot better than respect.
“Are we honestly welcome anywhere?” he chuckled to himself, “Nevermind. I’m sure we’ll find somewhere much more amusing than this dump.” he muttered, casting a look of distaste to the nobles as they walked out of the doors, the High Demon hastily resetting the illusion around himself once they were on the busy streets again. He didn’t mind scaring a couple of nobles in order to keep the peace (it sounded weird for him to be avoiding a fight, even as he was thinking it) but in a crowded city having people know who he was probably wouldn’t be the cleverest idea in the world. “So…” he began, rather cheerfully to be honest as they strolled back out into the square, the demon taking his arm from around her shoulders, “You got caught cheating?”
He couldn’t resist his laughter at that – she was lucky that she’d punched that ignorant bastard out and cheered him up, considering when he’d first arrived he was all too willing to behead the nobles, and then take the rest of his anger out on her for interrupting him in the middle of something very important. “I think in future we’d best practise your techniques in a place where you’re less likely to get into trouble, and I’m less likely to get distracted, don’t you think?” he asked as they made their way down one of the wider streets away from the square, Vyncent occupying himself with doing up the buttons on his shirt, shrugging into his coat properly and sorting out his ruffled hair as he talked to her. “Although breaking that lad’s nose was pretty admirable. And you stayed in a convent, you said? I have been sorely underestimating nuns.”

Vyncent had good reason to worry about her decapitating one of the nobles, the anger may had started to ebb out of her gaze, but it would only take the smallest of things to ignite her temper again. The nobles were lucky that Vyncent had turned up when he did, because she would have made sure to break a few more noses before they dragged her off to punish her, she would have hoped to do a little more damage than that, but she knew not to fool herself. She was little more than a girl, she wouldn't have stood a chance against a room full of men, even if most of them were out of shape nobles. Hmmm, maybe she was a little lucky that Vyncent had shown up when he did too, though she had no idea how he knew what was happening, he must have some sort of trouble radar.
She glanced up at Vyncent as he spoke to her, only just realising that she had drifted off into throught and that they were now outside. She pouted faintly as he mentioned getting caught, nodding just a little. "I guess that I did. I was winning up untill then too. Stupid old noble, coming to stick his nose into our game." She huffed before shrugging, as though to suddenly brush off the situation, a small smile creeping over her features. "It was a pretty good punch though, right? Bastard didn't see that coming." Etoile was grinning now, her mood having just taken a U-turn and swinging back to the happier end of the spectrum. Their trip to the gambling parlour hadn't ended too badly, not really. They had been able to walk out without any trouble, without even a word of complaint from any of the nobles. Vyncent had quite a reputation, didn't he? And after what had happened at Le Couvert, she could understand why.
"Hmmm, maybe that would be for the best, but it takes all the fun out of it." Practicing where she was less likely to get into trouble and he was less likely to be distracted was a good idea, in theory, but Etoile was easily bored and didn't have the longest of attention spans. Lock her in a room and tell her to do something and she would probably find a million other things to do just to avoid doing as she was told. She was an akward little half breed when she wanted to be. "Nuns are fearsome creatures. You shouldn't under estimate them. I've never punched a nun though...why have I never punched a nun?" She questioned, sounding confused for a moment. "Next time we see a nun, I'll punch her...just so I can say I've done it."
