Walking in the opposite direction to the other adventurers felt good; Amaya didn’t want to be stepping on anyone’s heels the whole time they were here. Still, the going was pretty slow, especially when they had to battle their way through waist high snow drifts. The level snow was deceitful, hiding pitfalls and sudden rises, making just walking treacherous. Still, progress wasn’t terrible as long as you were careful, paid attention to where you were stepping and kept well away from the water’s edge.
“Sticking with the wolf guy is as good a plan as any.” Amaya murmured to Grimm without glancing back to make sure they were following. She walked a little ahead of the other two which meant that she reached the top of the gentle incline first. That was unlucky for her because without warning the snow exploded upwards between them, the force knocking her backwards and sending her tumbling down the other side of the hill, which was much steeper.
The creature was at least ten feet tall, thick, glittering ice coating its thick body like armoured scales. It didn’t look like it had any eyes, but it did have teeth, lots and lots of teeth. Its mouth was huge and gaping, lined with rows and rows of razor sharp teeth.
Well, it hadn’t taken them long to find something to fight.
