The Devil's Tooth had docked just outside of the town that they were now in. They would include all the pirates now inside the 'Gin House', a wonderful little bar that always loved the company of their pirate customers. Well, technically they only liked these particular pirates. They were loud, they behaved themselves for the most part, they gave flattering compliments, and they kept their hands to themselves. The best part was that they didn't get into fights.
This was because the captain kept a hawks eye out for his own. He didn't want them causing any trouble. That was the good quality of the loud, energetic, and odd captain. The barkeep knew that there was a high price on his person's head. Captain Li'an Debark was worth nearly ten times what the man spent here in one day. But his constant visits made him almost like a member of the community. Especially to the children that came, bushy tailed and bright eyed, to see the pirates.
As of right now Li'an was singing in his own way to the flutes and lyres playing nearby. Everyone was laughing at his antics. The pinkish tunic top he wore being almost the focal point compared to his baggy black pants and worn out black boots. His face was alight with a grin even as he sung, his green eyes still darting about, ever watchful. His silky looking wavy black hair was pulled back from his head with a black head scarf, his pointed ears easier to see this way.
"An' there goes the sain' of the pirates!" He called out in the middle of his song, raising a glass. "Miss Molleh Heathbren! Our loveleh host 'ere, give a round fer the loveleh lass!" A loud cheer erupted from the intoxicated pirates and the barkeep blushed.
"Oh shush you!" She said embarrassedly.
He grinned cheekily, "Ya enjoy it ma'am."
"Go back to your drinking or you won't eat." She threatened.
Laughing he raised his drink. "Righ' 'course marm! Righ' away!" And he swallowed a good portion of his drink. They were just beginning to relax, and the night was still delightfully young.

He would often do this. This being, sitting in a populated area, taking on the affectation of a blank-minded simpleton that, combined with his disheveled clothing, gave most people the impression that he was a poor, sub-human commoner that was more then a little slow. One never knew what one might overhear when the people around you think you're too stupid, or drunk, to understand what's being said. Not to mention the rowdiness of the pirates made him a great deal less conspicuous then usual. Kamui sat in a shadowy far corner of the tavern, leaning back on his chair, against the tavern's wall, with his feet resting on the table. His furry tail was drooped down, resting on the floor. His fingers were laced together across his stomach and his eye closed, he was gently snoring. Multiple mugs, all empty, were strewn across his table. He appeared to be a sleeping drunkard to anyone looking in his direction. In the shadows under the table, laid Sakurako and Yibbles, his ever present friends and companions. Slumped against a chair leg was his ratty brown rutsack, against which was leaning his sheathed katana, Vashii. Leaning on the wall, near his chair, was Akureihoneôgama, though it was wrapped in cloth with a black chain, it was obvious by its shape that it was a scythe. Upon close inspection, one would see runes etched into each link on the chain. Both sword and scythe gave off demonic auras, but both were currently suppressed by the sheath and cloth and chain, respectively. It would now take another demon or someone with above-human senses to detect the auras.
(Heh heh, sorry for the crappy intro, it's late an' I'm tired... Besides, it's not like you couldn't find Kamui's description in the character archives if you wanted a more detailed description.)

The door came open to at the front, and a small gang of kids ran inside the bar. The barkeep tried to shoo them back out the door, but with little dodges and laughter they slipped around her.
"Cap'in Li!" A little four year old shouted, a grin on the child's face.
"Where have you been?" A fourteen year old asked, the boy eager to get closer.
Li'an grinned broadly. "Why on the ocean o' course!" He said happily, "Stalin' from the rich ta give ta the poor." He said, earning rowdy guffaws from his crew.
"Ah but you're a pirate! Not a goody goody!" The boy retorted, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Oh! Am I now!" Li'an leaned got down from the table, landing silently on his feet. "Then I should tell ya abou' the fights I've gotten inta, the treasure me'n me crew have stolen, and the lovely lasses we've kidnapped." He winked at the youngster. "But them is all borin' stories."
"Tell us please!?" The children squealed in delight.
Laughing he stood, "No' tonigh' kids. It's pas' yer bedtime, an' yer motheh's mus' be worrin'...so get now, I'm 'ere tomorrah too."
"Awww...." Came the almost collective sound of disappointment. But they slowly started out, before they started play fighting, right around the seemingly passed out drunkard. One of them got shoved, hard, into him.
"Uh-oh." Li'an managed, watching them, "Watch whatcha doin' there."

Kamui did not react at first as the boy fell onto him, causing the already tipped chair to wobble precariously, but it did not fall. His fully prehensile tail swung up and grasped the boy's collar, gently lifting him back onto his feet. "Hello," He said slowly, cracking open a single orange colored eye to look at the boy, "Not hurt now, are we? You should widen your stance next time, make sure your feet are firmly planted on the ground." He obviously wasn't mad at the boy, and seemed oddly sober considering the number of empty mugs on his table. From under the table came Yibbles' pink snout, sniffing at the boy's feet. Sakurako sat motionless, but warily watched everything around her with oddly intelligent eyes.

The boy was wide-eyed with a mixture of fear and awe. His mouth opened and closed before he gave an odd squeak and took off after his friends.
Li'an sat down near Kamui, "Ah kids." He said with a friendly smile. "I do 'ope we're nah botherin' ya." He said, leaning back in his newly acquired chair, tilting back on two legs. He seemed interested in the other, green eyes alight with curiousity.
His crew were all having a grand old time nearby, eating, drinkng, and singing to their hearts content. They had no worries here, and why should they? They were the most popular, and most respected, guests here.

He watched the boy go off with his friends with a slight grin. "No, not at all." He cracked open his other eye, which was green, looking at Li'an as he sat down at the table. "But won't your crewmates miss you?" He gestured to the boisterous pirates with his tail, "Ya' seem ta' be the life of the party."

"Ah they'll beh fine wi'out meh." He said with a chuckle. "Their grown men aftah all, wouldn' wanna 'old their 'ands afteh all these years." He said, grinning faintly. Li'an was watching him. "Bu' you sah are quite interestin' yerself...ya've got a tail." He said, curious, sharp eyes on the tail. He seemed quite intrigued by all this.

"So I do," Kamui said, "I find it quite useful at times. I've had it all my life. My mother had a tail, so I guess it runs in the family." He shrugged. "I see your ears are pointed an' your eyes are green." He said, not in Common, but in near flawless Elvish.

"Sorreh love, meh mum was Elvish, I m'onleh half. Can' speak a word o' Elvish." He said, chuckling faintly. "Bu' yer tail is prettah odd 'round these parts. No' tha' that's bad or nuthin', it's jus' a change o' pace." He said with a smile, rubbing at one pointed ear.

"Ah," He said, speaking a in pleasant tone, but reverting back to Common, "I thought so. Didja' know the life-force, the internal spiritual energy that makes all life possible, of each race is different? I know because I can see, or rather feel, if that makes sense, life-forces with this eye," He leaned forword, motioning to his orange eye. It was like a bright and searing flame that could burn through and leave your very soul exposed. It, along with his other eye, was also a window to his own scarred soul if one looked long enough. Most either wouldn't or couldn't. "Of course everybody's life-force signature is unique, but there are certain similarities unique ta' each individual race as well. In your case, it displays both human and Elven characteristics." He leaned his chair back against the wall, "Besides your blood smells of both humans and Elves. You're not so common either, my friend. A half-elf pirate captain with a price on his head." All the while Kamui spoke, Sakurako remained motionless, watching Li'an warily from under the table. Yibbles, however, decided to come forth, sniffing around his chair.

Li'an raised an eyebrow. "Oh? My bounty travels afore meh unfortunateleh..." He leaned casually in his chair. "Tha' whole...life-force thing...I don' realleh get the gist of it...'ut I can unnerstand wha' yah mean." Or at least he thought he did. He saw the pig and a grin split his features. "Why 'ello there." He reached out and patted the pig's head, and looked back up at Kamui, his green eyes contemplating the others calmly. For a person who made a fool of himself he could be serious. Li'an was always observant, always alert. Though not many would catch that when he was dancing on a table.

Yibbles reacted positively to Li'an, pushing his head up, nudging Li'an's hand in the hopes of receiving more attention. "Well, ta' be honest, I've got a bounty on my head as well," He grinned slightly, with a small chuckle, his own sharp eyes observing Li'an as he observed them. "In light of that...," He suddenly stood up and called out, "I challenge you, man!" Quickly hopping on the table, knocking off a few empty mugs, he performed a quick dance step in time with the flutes and lyres playing.
(Heh heh, I'm sorry, but that dance off with Stifler in the third American Pie movie popped into my head and I couldn't resist...)

(XD That's hilarious!)
With a grin he patted the pig on the head, then climbed to a table. "Challenge accepted love!" He managed, doing a quick step of his own, his grace adding to his ability as he moved quite quickly. He loved to have this kind of fun.

(I know, it's one of my favorite scenes in that movie. I dunno why it popped into my head when it did, but, hey, Kamui's a Chaotic alignment, so it's all good.)
"Ah, all right, all right...," Kamui said watching Li'an, "I see ya've got a bit of skill." Kamui did another quick step, but a more complicated one then last time, while matching Li'an's speed.

(It works hehehe ^^)
Li'an had a mischevous grin splitting his features. He did a few fancy moves before flipping to form a perfect O in midair before re-landing on one hand. He was quite the acrobat himself. He was used to fighting in tough situations and using anything to survive. Not that this was life or death or anything. "A bi'? Ah, gimme more cre'it than tha' mate."
