'Well, she's purrin', I suppose that's a good sign. Now, this food business could be tricky. How should I handle it?' He mentally shrugged, 'Eh. I'll jus' wing it, like I always do.' "All right. It's a date then! But... Mayhaps you should wait here? We don't, uh, wanna start a riot do we? It'd make it more difficult ta' get ya' some food."
(Bah. Sorry for the kinda short post.)

('Sallright. I'm feeling pretty blah today so mine probably won't be any longer. n_n'')
Sorrelwing mulled this statement over and could see nothing amiss. After all, she didn't want people falling over and fighting at the sight of her beauty. She fluttered up and back to her rock, assuming her best I'm-a-beautiful-creature-and-you-better-admit-it posture. "All right then," she purred. "But be back soon. I don't have very much patience..."
(Yes, she is that easy to fool...n_n''' That is completely in character...)

"Fear not, m'lady," He said doing a mock bow with another grin, "They don't call me Orange Blitz for nothin'. I shall quite literally be back momentarily." He paused as he shared a seemingly casual look with Sakurako, then he went on, "To prove it, I'll even leave my companions in your company. A show of good faith on my part, if ya' will." With that, his outline wavered briefly for a split-second before he disappeared from sight, leaving behind only a set of footprints in a small cloud of dust. Incidentally a gust of wind struck up in his wake, as did a trail of dust leading down the path. Yibbles briefly looked up at the dust trail before going back to sniffing around. So far his search of something edible had turned up nothing, but he was determined to find something it seemed. Other then her fur being ruffled by the wind, Sakurako stood motionless, her icy eyes locked on Sorrelwing.

Sorrelwing sneezed and wiped her nose on her paw, disturbed by the dust. Shaking out her red ringlets, she stared at the retreating dust-cloud, slightly impressed despite herself. Returning to the real world, she gave Sakurako a distrustful look. The wolf-dog made her slightly uncomfortable, and she wasn't entirely sure if she could beat her in a straight fight. Despite being much larger and with much bigger claws. With a sigh, she rested her chin on her paws and resigned herself to waiting.
(I'm tempted to throw Jhijhi in somewhere, simply to get a bit of practice with her. xD)

Sakurako was unperturbed by Sorrelwing's look and continued to stare at her, but remained motionless. Yibbles moved toward Sorrelwing like before and Sakurako's eye narrowed, looking almost like she was just daring the sphinx to touch the piglet. How very odd, a wolfdog watching over a piglet.
(Sorry for the sorta short post, but without Kamui there... anywho, he should be back in the next post. Yeah, feel free to introduce JhiJhi to the RP. Besides you getting some practice, it always adds some spice to the RP when a new character joins in, you know, especially when it's just two people. At least I think so.)

The sphinx glanced at Yibbles, who was a tempting target, and then at Sakurako, then back at Yibbles. Then she sighed once again and drummed her talons on the rock. One small piglet wasn't worth antagonising that wolfdog any more than she did by existing. Besides...she much preferred human flesh. Speaking of human flesh... She could smell someone else coming down the road. She raised her head and her nostrils flared as she tested the scent. Hah. This one was just human, no alarming demon-smell. Should be decent prey, if the stupid wolfdog didn't interfere. She scrambled into a sitting position and waited patiently for the tiny dark spot on the horizon to become a recognizable and edible figure.

In the distance another dust trail struck up, moving from the direction of the town toward the rock where Sorrelwing, Sakurako, and Yibbles were. Kamui reappeared with another gust of wind, beating his own dust trail by a few seconds. His arms were laden with packages of raw meat and a pie balanced on top. Sakurako's mood considerably lightened upon his return, with her tail wagging in anticipation of the meat. "You know, I wasn't sure what you'd like," He began looking from the packages to Sorrelwing, "So I splurged an' got a variety of... Hmm...?" His nose twitched. "We've got company... Hey, maybe they'd join us? Whatcha think, Sorrel? Ooh, sorry, Sorrelwing."

Sorrelwing eyed the packages. They smelled intriguing, and although Sorrelwing preferred human meat by far she was quite capable of appreciating other types. "I care not about whoever it is back there," she said-and she didn't, not any more. There was easily accessible meat here now, that wasn't going to put up even a small amount of fight, and therefore she would choose that over the other, currently mobile, type of food, which was close enough to determine features now. It was a slender figure, female, dressed in soft black garments. Her face was obscured behind a swathe of black cloth, and shadowed by a floppy black hat. But there was a suspicion of blonde hair around the collar of her coat, and a pair of crystal blue eyes were just visible, sharp and suspicious as she came to a halt a little way away from the party. She stood like a fighter-imperceptibly tensed, one hand resting on her hip within easy reach of the weapon at her belt (a notched and battered broadsword that looked almost absurdly heavy for such a slim figure). The blue eyes flicked from Sorrelwing to Sakurako to Kamui to Yibbles, affording each the same suspicion, even the piglet. Then her hat moved, and a little fluffy monkey face emerged from behind the crown. The small creature chattered curiously, and flapped an unexpected pair of feathery wings that sprouted from its shoulders.

"Help yourself...," He said, spreading the packages out on the ground. All except for two. One of the two he threw to Sakurako who eagerly tore threw the wrappings and bite into the meat, tearing off a large chunk. "Hmm... Huh." He had a quizzical look, "Not everyday ya' see a monkey with wings." Looking over the woman and her monkey as she examined the group, after a moment he held up the pie in one hand and then other package of meat in the other. "Hungry?" He called to the woman, "I can start a fire an' roast this up for us, them maybe have a little pie afterwards?" Feeling a nudge on his foot, he looked down to see Yibbles at his feet. "Ah, don't worry. I didn't forget about you, Yib." Producing a juicy looking mikan from one of the pockets on his vest, he passed it down to the piglet who took it in his mouth and trotted off looking content. "So, whadda ya' say?" He looked back up to the woman and her monkey, "I blew most of my money on the food, so lets enjoy it." He put one of his goofy grins.

Sorrelwing, after giving the woman a rather blank look, decided that she was currently boring and leapt down from a rock, sniffing the packages thoughtfully before selecting one and tearing off the wrapping, tearing into the meat in a way that was rather indelicate. The woman gave her a disgusted look before switching her attention to Kamui. Her bright blue eyes examined him rather coldly, and although there was a suggestion of surprise that a stranger would spontaenously offer her food it was not nearly as pronounced or obvious as Sorrel's reaction. Her monkey seemed more enthusiastic about the food than she did. It leapt off her hat and scurried up Kamui's leg to his arm, tugging at the package of meat. The woman snorted with annoyance at this. "Leave him alone, you ridiculous primate. Come here." Her voice was unremarkable, though slightly rougher than would be expected.

Giving Sorrelwing an amused glance, he chuckled slightly before turning his attention back to the woman. Noting her cold look, Kamui only grinned wider. Though he may have seemed like a dim-wit, just standing there grinning stupidly, he was examining her in his own way, his nose twitching slightly. 'Her aura, an' the scent of 'er... there's a dash of non-human in 'er. Hm. Interestin'.' He watched as the monkey leapt from the woman and laughed a bit as it scurried up his leg, "Ha ha ha! That tickles!" "Well, hello there, little one," He said pleasantly, apparently not bothered by the monkey. Just the opposite, he actually started to chatter away in a friendly, just like a monkey, an ability granted by the monkey demon blood running through his veins. Sakurako had torn through the package of meat Kamui had given her, stopping only for a moment to look up at the woman with that intelligent glint in her piercing eyes before moving on to another package chosen at random. Yibbles was off a little ways still enjoying his piece of fruit.

The monkey seemed delighted that someone could talk to it in its own language and replied enthusiastically. It told Kamui that it and the woman-it called her 'The-one-who-saved-me'-had been travelling for a while, and not eating properly, and it was very hungry. It put on its best 'adorable' face as it said that. The woman watched Kamui talking to her monkey expressionlessly, while darting suspicious glances at Sorrelwing. The sphinx ignored her completely-she'd polished off quite a lot of the meat already and was lying contently licking her talons, tail waving lazily. Nevertheless, the woman's hand moved down to rest on the hilt of her heavy broadsword. She gave the impression of a coiled spring, ready to lash out.

"Ah, I know the feelin', little one," He responded with more chattering, "I've been travelin' myself for... well, let's just say for a long time. I don't always get proper meals either. So... fruit pie? It's got pecans, coconut, an' raisins. It's a traditional pastry 'round these parts. Been a long time since I've had it. My mother, who was born in this country, used ta' make it for me as a child." He was watching the woman out of the corner of his eyes as he conversed with the monkey, and he wondered if she might attack Sorrelwing, or even himself. "Hey," He suddenly called out to the woman in the common tongue, "Catch!" He threw the pacakge of meat her way, "Hold on ta' that well I start a cookin' fire." Meanwhile, after the two packages of meat, Sakurako was content to finish off the meat that Sorrelwing didn't. Yibbles, well, he had finished his fruit and had taken to rolling around on the ground off just a little way, lost in his own little world.

Sorrelwing watched the wolfdog through narrowed acid-green eyes, but she was feeling mellow and instead of trying anything she flicked her tail around, caught it between her paws and began to groom the darker tuft on the end of it with her tongue. This was a surprisingly feline gesture. The woman caught the meat in what was probably a reflex movement. She moved like a snake, and her sword was half-way out of its sheath before her mind engaged and reminded her that a package of meat wasn't a threat. She rammed the length of gleaming steel back bad-temperedly. Her monkey chattered excitedly at the prospect of fruit pie and scuttled up to perch on Kamui's shoulder. Amidst excited babble, it told him that the last time they had eaten was when the woman had 'made a man not sick any more' and he had insisted on giving them what little he had with him. The image of a healer seemed to sit awkwardly on the glowering figure in black that stood in front of them.

'Ah, nice reflexes,' He thought to himself, watching the woman out of the corner of his eye as he walked a little ways off the path, looking for something to use as kindling and some stones to keep a fire at bay, so as not to inflame the entire field. He had thrown the meat not only to keep her from possibly attacking Sorrelwing (or himself), but he was also curious to see her reaction as well. He also meant it as a sign of trust, letting her hold onto his food, for food was a very big deal to someone with an appetite as large as his was. Not to mention he just wanted someone to hold the meat while he got a fire going. "Ah. I see, I see. She 'made a man not sick', did she?" He responded to the monkey, taking another sidelong glance at the woman. "What kind of medicine did she use?" He asked in a casual chatter. For once Sakurako seemed to ignore the sphinx, merely licking her chops contentedly and yawning before sitting and grooming her own pure white coat, which naturally seemed to attract a lot of the dust.
(You know, maybe we should think up some kinda plot... Like Sorrelwing, JhiJhi, and Kamui all end up on... some kinda quest... thingy... Heh. I'm not the best at coming up with plots.)
