"You can ask me anything that you want. I think that would be a fair exchange." He agreed with a nod of his head, glad that she at least didn't sound offended by his question. It wouldn't be a great start to their conversation for him to insult her.
Chris listened attentivly as she explained her background, "Ising, really? Wow. You really have travelled a long way. Was there any reason that you left? ...wait...ignore that. I'm sorry. I get carried away sometimes." He apologised quickly, not wanted to ask questions which were too personal. He wanted to know her story, her whole story, but she wasn't likely to tell it to a stranger, so he wouldn't ask. Maybe if they met again and became friends rather than acquaintances then he could ask, but not right now.
"What about you? What would you like to know about me?"

At the quickly retracted question Owl had looked away, not sure if she wanted to go in that direction with the conversation. She was glad that he took it back and again steered the conversation elsewhere.
"What do I want to know?" she pondered, although she already knew what her questions would be, "I'd like to know where you are from, where you're going, and what your living is. That ist o say, if the third is not prying too much."

A smile tugged at the edges of his lips as she asked her question. Chris had no problem about telling her where he was going or what he did, it wasn't as though it was a secret. "I'm on my way to Domremy, and I come from Avalas. My house is just outside of Cressa, but I travel . I'm a story teller, you see, so I travel around in search of new legends and stories to tell." He explained as he looked up at her. "Right now I'm following the legend of the Pucelle de Domremy, but you probably guessed that already. I would imagine that a lot of the travellers who visit here are drawn by the legend, right?" His eyes were bright with interest now. Chris lived for stories, and half of the time he lived in stories in his own head. "However, I suppose that a story teller isn't a real trade, so, in that case, I bind books aswell. It's the family business." He added, just incase she thought that he was a lazy dreamer who just drifted from place to place on a wild goose chase.

"Ah, yes," Owl nodded when he had finished, "Story telling is a wonderful art. It's a pity your kind don't come through Domrémy more often. Most travelers are of a knightly rank, and rather take issue with the fact that I have made Domrémy my home for some time now. But it was the legend of Pucelle de Domremy that drew me here in the first place, so I don't know why they can't just let well enough alone."
She cracked a half-smile as particular episodes involving her unusual choice to settle crossed her mind, then she put her boots on and let the strings of her hakamas down.
"Come, shall we trot along back to Domrémy together? The sun climbe's higher and I cannot abide the heat," she said, standing up.

"I do not see why they should take issue if you aren't doing anything wrong. For some people, the world is too black and white. They should open their eyes and see all the colours in between." He murmured with the slightest of frowns, shaking his head as though to say that he wouldn't get onto such a dismal subject.
"Walking back with you would be pleasant." He agreed, pulling his feet out of the water and putting his shoes on, fastening the laces before rising to his feet and grabbing his bag. "You do not like the heat? Well, I guess that is understandable with where you are from. We should get into the shade before it gets too warm and you get uncomforable."

Owl scooped up her basket, checking things were in order, before starting off.
"It's not so much a dislike as an inability to cope with it," She added to the subject of sun and heat, "I thought the sunlight was the most marvelous thing in the world until the inevitable sunburn, quickly followed by a horrifying amount of freckles. I thought I had leprosy or some other decaying disease," She smiled and put a hand to her face, remembering the terror, "Goodness, I was an awfully vain child then. I worried more about the condition of my looks than the possibility of disease. I must have tried every beauty concoction then invented before giving up to let time wear them away."

Chris chuckled at her tale, glancing up at the sun. "I suppose that it would seem rather marvolous if you've never seen it before. I suppose I just take it for granted, because I see it so often. It can make a day seem so much better when the sun is out." He nodded to her before glancing over at her. "You thought that freckles were a decaying disease? That's quite amusing."
He shifted his pack on his shoulder as he walked, smiling to himself fainlty at a memory. "I have a friend who can't stay out in the sun for too long. I remember that she got burnt over her nose one summer and refused to come out of her room until the reddness had faded. Women are strange creatures sometimes."

*Strange he says.* a wry smile crooked at the corner of the demon's mouth. For a moment Owl thought she would bate him for using such a tern before said context of the statement, but then she decided not too. It would be mean, and might lead to putting the good man to discomfort, and worry that he had finally offended her. He seemed very intent on being as civil as possible, although she could tell there was much he wanted to ask.
So instead she went with a stiffled giggle of the patronizing and confounding sort.

Chirs did seem bemused that he only recieved a giggle in response to what he had said, though it only went to support his arguement; women really were strange creatures indeed.
A silence extended between the two of them now, Chirs unsure of what to say, so he decided that he wouldn't say anything. He didn't want to go chattering constantly and annoying her. Instead he let his attention drift to their surroundings, smiling to himself faintly. The countryside out here was pretty quaint, much like back home really. The plants were allowed to grow wild aroud the river, but further back there were carefully kept fields of corn and wheat, the plants swaying in the breeze. He guessed that the pace of life was pretty slow out here, he could see why Owl had chosen to settle here.

*Ah dear. I wonder if I might have been the offencive one now?* Owl mused after the silence had begun to stretch. She was begining to feel a little too warm from the sunlight, and contemplated the effort it would take to trot over to the woods, as opposed to continuing straight home.
"From Cressa to Domrémy seems awfully far to travel for a tale. You must be very dedicated, "Owl commented as a thought crossed her mind, "Have you ever left the contry in your persuits? I can't recall if you said so earlier."

"My family is originally from Marmosia, so I have travelled there a couple of times on business, but that was more to do with bookbinding that following stories." He explained with a shrug of his shoulder. The Reich family were rather famous in the bookbinding world, and some people still reufsed to have their books rebound by anyone other than them. Not that Chris minded, the money was always good and it was a chance to travel.
"This is the furthest away from home that I have ever been. I think the journey is worth it, even if I don't really find out anything new. It's been a nice trip." He smiled, though there was something hidden behind that smile. He wasn't telling the whole truth, that was clear, but everyone had secrets, did't they?

The fox demon observed this something, and it puzzled her. She felt that it was something she probably should not have noticed, and that she had somehow crossed into delicate matters that she should leave alone.
But, hang it all! He did have her curious now and she wasn't sure she could be content until said curiosity was satisfied. Various images and situations began cropping up in Owl's mind rather abruptly, quite unbidden and unwanted.
Owl felt more and more uncomfortable with the situation as her imagination continued to romanticize, and the healer was sure every though could be heard outside her head.
So instead of staring ahead in silence as a more clever observer right have, Owl did the next best thing; She peered into her basket and pretended to sort through the herbs, albeit, in a far too brisk a manner.

She wasn't quite right, while Chris couldn't exactly hear her thoughts, he knew that he had unintentionally sparked her curiosity, and could say without much doubt that she would never be able to imagine the truth. He wasn't getting into this conversation though, he had come away to get away from these thoughts, and he refused to be hounded by them when he was so far from Avalas and all of his problems.
"Is the village far away?" He asked eventually, obviously attempting to break the akward silence with a little light conversation, and also trying to distract her attention away from his little secret.
