"Am I invisible? I'm invisible, ain't I?" He said, holding his hands in front of his face, but seeing nothing. "Oooh... Oh! Here's my chance. Go hide yourself an' Yib, Sak." Sakurako took the little piglet, gently nudging him back into an alley. Moving without any noise, Kamui was already inside and motioning to Aviel. 'Oh, wait...,' He remembered, 'Hm. She can't see me.'

Aviel was slightly impressed by his grace and speed as he moved forward. She lost track of his footsteps quickly, and so had to guess. When she neared the door, she closed her eyes, tracking her spell with her mind so that she could find him. Then, after she was pretty sure she knew where he was at, she slid inside cautiously.
Now what? she thought, looking around the garrison. There were several people they would have to maneuver around. It didn't look like the superior was down here. She caught sight of a staircase and looked at where she guessed Kamui was. Tracking her spells was a difficult process. She just hoped that no one else could sense her magic. They had to keep moving.

Kamui could track Aviel's scent, and so discern her location. Knowing that she made it inside, he looked around. 'Hmm. Just regular soldiers in this area... Oh! Let's try that staircase.' He moved over to where she was and reached out for her hand, but made contact with something else entirely. 'That doesn't feel like a hand...' "Waah!"
(Just a suggestion, but it might be useful for her to cast this spell.)

Aviel gasped, rather audibly, at Kamui's grope. It was really too bad that she was invisible, because catching the queen off-guard was a rare thing indeed. Her cool, expressionless demeanor was gone and her face was one of utter shock. After that wore off, she smacked his hand away and used magic to create a telepathic bond between them.
"I pray that was an accident," she thought, acid in her words. "But hurry, I think the guards heard you."
And indeed, the men in the room were turning to look around for the source of Kamui's exclamation, muttering amongst themselves.
"Who said that?"
"I didn't."
"Wasn't me."
"Is someone there?"
"Search the room. There is magic afoot."
Aviel made for the staircase, her footsteps light, soundless, and swift.

'I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...!' Kamui thought frantically. 'Ya' can't see me, but I'm down on my hands an' knees... Ya' must keep in shape, huh?' After that thought, one of the guards tripped over something he couldn't see. 'Oops...' Kamui thought before scrambling up the stairs without making a peep.

When the guard tripped over Kamui, Aviel's head snapped.
Hurry now! she thought, but he was already coming up the stairs.
"Did you see that?"
"Yes, you imbecile. You tripped!"
"No, something was there, honest! I felt it."
"You are certain?"
"Yes!"
Aviel made it to the top of the steps without a sound. Not that it'd matter if she'd made a ruckus; the guards were in disarray below. The queen couldn't help but feel as if she had failed miserably here. She had come to help the situation; to find out the whereabouts of the drow and hunt them down. Instead, she and Kamui had caused such chaos that they were probably under the impression that the drow were here, sneaking about amongst them.
She spotted the superior officer almost immediately. She had seen him at the palace a few times. His name was Sellydan Imerion. He had seen the same war her brother and father had.
What now? Think quickly, she thought, a little to herself and a little to Kamui. The guards were shifting around below.
"What is happening downstairs?" the superior asked another guard.
"Not sure, sir," he said. "I'll go take a look."
"See that you do."

"Heey... It's ol' Selly." Kamui said aloud, his eyes falling on Sellydan Imerion as he reached the top of the stairs behind Aviel. "I know him." "How have ya' been?" He said, moving up to the Elven officer's desk. "I see you've gotten a promotion since the war... Wait, I'm still invisible. Ya' can't see me, huh?"
(Oooh. Your font is orange too.)

Aviel's eyes widened considerably when Kamui spoke aloud. Was he really about to blow their disguise?
No, don't..., she began, but he spoke. "You know him?" she said aloud, incredulous.
Sellydan spun on his heel at Kamui's voice, drawing his sword in the blink of an eye. Aviel was startled by this motion and, for a moment, was glad they were invisible. Then his expression went from dangerous to something else. Was it... annoyance?
"I would know that voice anywhere," he said, narrowing his eyes and glaring about the room. Aviel began to wonder if it was a good thing these two knew each other or not. Despite the irritation in his tone, there was some sort of respect hidden in his eyes. "No doubt you're the sole cause of the disturbance below." As he finished his sentence, the sound of hurried footsteps on the stairs preceded a soldier's arrival.
"Sir, I'm afraid the men think there is an intruder about," he huffed. "We don't know..."
"Silence, Lidaren," Sellydan commanded. "The 'intruder' means us no harm."
"With all due respect, sir, how do you know that?" the soldier asked.
"Ask him yourself, if you do not believe me," Sellydan said, twisting his face in a smirk. "What is your purpose here, Cyfnos Lladdwr?" The soldier glanced around the room, seeing no one, and looked bewildered, as if he might fear for his superior's sanity.
Aviel lifted the spell, feeling a little sorry for the confused elf. She and Kamui faded back into their former opaque selves.
"Cyfnos Lladdwr?" the man said in a hushed voice, staring at Kamui as if he was some sort of deity. He ignored Aviel entirely. "Is it really him, sir?" Sellydan rolled his eyes.

"Cyfnos Lladdwr?" Kamui said dismissively. "Who's that?" He looked at Lidaren, then back at Sellydan. "I'm just a simple wanderer, here ta' inquire about some Drow that are kidnappin' Elven children." [/size]

Aviel was perplexed. Cyfnos Lladdwr? She could hardly trust her ears, but he had said it clearly enough and then Kamui repeated it. She cut off the telepathic link she had with him, fearing he'd catch pieces of her disorientation and befuddlement. She didn't want to believe what had just been said, but when Kamui called himself 'a simple wanderer', she knew. Her hands balled up into fists for a second while she tried to regain her composure. She had relaxed by the time Sellydan spoke again.
"Always the simple wanderer," he said. He turned to Lidaren. "Leave us."
"Yessir," Lidaren mumbled, going down the stairs in a rush, probably to inform the men downstairs of what he'd just witnessed. Once he was gone, Sellydan clasped his hands behind his back.
"We have no confirmation that this band of Drow is the same that has been kidnapping our children," he said coolly, but it was obvious that he knew more than he let off.
"Oh? How many more Drow have you allowed to cross our borders?" Aviel quipped crisply. Sellydan frowned in her direction. He thought he knew that voice somewhere, but was too annoyed to think on it at the moment.
"None."
"That you know of," was Aviel's retort.
"I ask that you leave," Sellydan said, his tone of superiority irritating Aviel more every second. "I assure you we do not require your assistance. Our late queen entrusted me with this position. You would do well not to insult her judgment."
"My companion and I did not come here to insult anyone," Aviel said, trying to keep her voice democratic. She would very much liked to have told him it was not the late queen's judgment she was questioning, but that would make it less likely for them to get any information out of him. She didn't want to reveal herself to him and deal with the issues that would arouse. "Our great nation has been trusted in his hands before. They were tested and proved capable, were they not?"
"We needed his help then," Sellydan growled, losing his patience. "We do not need it now."
"I beg to differ..."
"Beg all you want!" snapped Sellydan. "But if you do not do it somewhere else, you'll be doing so in the dungeons." Aviel held her tongue until she could trust it. Sellydan composed himself. "I am sorry I lost my temper, my lady." He bowed his head briefly. "But as I've said, we do not need your help. We will handle it without risking the lives of innocent civilians... and simple wanderers. Also, it makes it a great deal harder to trust someone who veils their face in shadow." He looked at her pointedly, as if expecting her to draw her hood down. Aviel bit her lip and turned to Kamui, hoping for his help.

"Ah, well... I guess it can't be helped." He shrugged, and looked at Aviel. "I'm sure we've wasted enough of Selly's time. Let's go." He turned and headed for the stairs, but stopped at the top step and looked back at Sellydan. "Oh, before we go, I suppose I should apologize ahead of time, while we're already here." He said with a grin. "Ya' know, for the trouble we'll likely cause, snoopin' around on our own ta' get some answers."
